Although Frank misses Angelina and wishes she didn't move, his pain is eased when the new neighbors move in and he quickly develops a new friendship with the family's pup.
Two Cool Coyotes written by Jillian Lund is a story about two coyotes named Frank and Angelina that live in the desert. They are best friends that love to play together until that comes to a sudden end. Angelina finds out that she will be moving away with her family. Although they will remain friends, they will not be able to spend time together. Frank becomes sad and cries for days because he misses his friend. A new coyote moves into the den across from Frank and they become best friends. This book definitely makes a real world connection to many situations that students may go through where they will not see someone for a long time and how to cope with the emotions. I think this literature is a good book to give power to such situations in children's lives. I do think the pictures could have been better but, great book.
A really good "desert animals" story about having a friend move away and a new friend move in next door. I appreciated the fact that Frank was allowed to cry all day, and the next day too. And the book reassures kids that liking the new friend doesn't mean you've forgotten about the old friend.
Great for friendship theme, or "desert animals". The coyotes go out howling, and the kids' enjoyed howling with them.
This is a fun book to teach children that two people are ever alike but that's what makes us fun; our uniqueness. Great book and friendship and also on not being afraid to move on and make new friends.
Humorless pumas, kooky coatimundis, tumbleweed tumbling - what's not to love? Set in the Sonoran Desert, this is a great story about losing a friend and making a friend with wonderful pictures.
My pre-kinders loved this book. It wasn't one of my favorites, however, it was good for teaching about the desert and the animals that live there. A good book for desert unit.
