Lucy Miller has worked her way up from coffee-fetcher and copy-maker to invaluable assistant. She’s proud of her accomplishments, but she’s looking forward to a break from her demanding boss; a visit home is just the Christmas treat she needs.

Diligent and unassuming, Chanoch Evans has avoided relationships not just out of shyness, but because he doesn’t feel like he has anything to offer—most of his resources are devoted to his war-veteran younger brother.

When a desperate plea from their boss ruins their holiday plans, Lucy and Evans are stuck in an otherwise empty office with only each other for company. After catching their boss in flagrante, they start to see that each other’s mild workplace personas might be just the tip of the iceberg. Despite the prohibition against fraternization between employees, there may be more than kissing going on underneath this mistletoe…

Genre: Erotic Romance
Type: Standalone Book 5 from The Compass series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

For six years Lucy Miller endured her boss' high pressure demands, and this year she was asked to stay behind for Christmas to fix an important project. As a dedicated staff, she poured all her energy to get it done, but an empty office and close proximity with an assuming colleague reawakened a warm and tingly feeling that had previously been dormant.

Chanoch Evans had his eyes on Lucy for quite a while. But his awkward and shy nature prevented him from doing anything about it. After a long night working, a innocent trip to the break room became a catalyst that would break them from their shells while risking their career and most importantly their hearts.

If I kept a sword in my office, I’d throw myself on it. As things are, I’ve only got some pencils that are in desperate need of a sharpening, a ruler, and some paperclips. I couldn’t even injure myself in a dignified manner.

Evans - yes he used his last name because no one can pronounce his first name properly - was a lovable nerd. He was funny and adorable with his self-deprecating nature. He made me want to be on his side no matter what.

Mild-mannered Lucy swearing up a blue streak probably shouldn’t delight me as much as it does, but it totally charms me.

Lucy was like the accompanying pea in this adorkable pod. She was proud of her achievements even though underappreciated by her family. I love how she took matters into her own hands and didn't let people to trample on her.

I like how both of them were similar in personality and used this opportunity to push each other to live on the edge. It made for some interesting discovery.

He’s leaning against the tiles, his head tipped back and his expression is one of pure bliss. And the sounds he’s making— they make desire pool in my stomach, trickling lower.

I'm not a fan of office romance but this book offered something different. It is a literally an office romance. So you can imagine all the unconventional places where the sexiness took place. There were several off office location, but not one bed in sight lol!

But this— Lucy, sated and warm, lying underneath me— worth it. I want to hold onto this for as long as possible. Even if that’s only a couple more days. I’ll take it.

Due South is a charming story of two unlikely people having both life and sexual reawakening. It would appeal to readers looking for a light read that would put a smile on their face.

Tamsen Parker hits the spot with the fifth book in The Compass Series; I loved Due South, and Evans and Lucy.

description

I'm rather partial a hero who is more adorably awkward than alpha, considerate, of a quieter nature yet with a strong presence, knows exactly what he's doing between the sheets and has a few surprises up his sleeve. That to me is incredibly sexy and Evans is very much so. And Lucy, I loved her; with a sweet nature, she's smart, owns her sexuality, is confident voicing her wants and needs, and Evans is more than happy to meet them.

description

The phrase any place, anytime, anywhere was coined for Lucy and Evans and once they get a taste of one another, there's no stopping them. In terms of sexy-time, there's definitely no scrimping here, but that's what the story hinges on: awakened feelings between two fairly shy people who are colleagues, are attracted to one another, working largely alone over the festive period and are determined not to let themselves fall into the all work and no play trap.

"I’m hard as hell for you, but I’ll walk away if you can’t behave. If you’re good, you’ll get a treat. And by treat, I mean a nice hard fuck against this door while the people we work with go about their business."

I admit I went into this with a little reticence simply because the last book in this series didn't work for me for personal reasons, but I can categorically say there was no need as Due South is without doubt my favourite of the series so far. In comparison to its predecessors it's a little gentler on the kink, but rest assured it's heated and holds plenty feeling. And it can easily be read as a standalone, so if you fancy a sizzling, sexy, easy read over the holidays, with characters who are endearing and relatable, this is one I recommend.

4* with love at christmas STARS!!

Is it a standalone? Kinda. If you're perfectionist also OCD, you need to read this on order. Just because. Both main characters are work for the iron 'fist' maiden, India Burke (from Personal Geography Book #1). This office romance isn't' like others that I've read. Especially this happened on Christmas.

Christmas has been everybody's fave holiday. With her boss' plead and deadline, Lucy Miller must postponed her Christmas. This is also happened to Chanoch Evans. He must work together with beautiful redhead-slash-her boss' secretary, Lucy. They witnessed something they should't see but their body told another story. Fallin' in love with co-worker wasn't on their agenda for Christmas.

Lucy is easily likable person. She's hard-working girl, from bottom to top. At first, I thought she was clumsy and passive, but I was wrong. In this story, Lucy showed her work not only being coffee-fetcher for her boss. She also isn't ashamed on herself being an attractive woman which is a sin in her hometown. I admire her confidence.

This also happened with Evans. I never thought he has heavy problems because of his family. Evans seems like a perfect office guy with her looks and attitude (again, it was because India's story). But there is another side of him I never know. Evans managed to show his control during 'scene' with Lucy with tender and care.
The feel of her under my lips and my tongue is flat out extraordinary. She tastes earthy and human, but with a sweetness that echoes the clearer taste of her shoulders. I lick her and lick again because I can’t get enough.
description

Their chemistry is starting to form when they admit wanting each other. I think this is the only book that doesn't involve BDSM relationship. They're have different taste. It was exhibitionist streak inside them. Maybe they didn't realize it? But both Lucy and Evans are really HOT together. Public bathroom, beach, car also their office; far away from bedroom. They're completing each other.
“You’ll keep still or I’ll stop. Don’t test me, Lucy, because I’m not kidding. I’m hard as hell for you, but I’ll walk away if you can’t behave. If you’re good, you’ll get a treat. And by treat, I mean a nice hard fuck against this door while the people we work with go about their business, not knowing I’ve got my cock buried inside your sweet, hot cunt.”
Lust. I’m pretty sure that’s what’s pushing against the containment of my body. Lust and want. I’m soaking wet, I know it. Who knew some dirty words in a semi-public place could turn my crank so freaking hard?
description

Both Lucy and Evans really a match made in heaven. Not only in sexual way. Lucy really care about Evans and vise versa. Both of them are getting know each other and pour their heart out. They're far from perfect. Both Lucy and Evans are very busy with their work and rarely noticed each other and this Christmas, they're finally together. Love is certainly found in hopeless place.

However, the ending kinda threw me off. Like a sudden brake when everything went smooth. Overall, it was a great sexy read for office romance lover with nothing exaggerating. Happy holiday!

Lucy Miller and Chanoch Evans have worked together for years but have done nothing more than pass each other in the hall, murmuring the occasional sorry and excuse me. Lucy, a transplant from a small ultra-religious town, came to California seeking fame and fortune behind the camera. When that didn’t pan out, she took a secretarial job and slowly worked her way from coffee maker to the boss’s right-handwoman.

Chanoch Evans, whom everyone refers to as just Evans because they can’t pronounce his name correctly, works for the same company and has always had a bit of a crush on Lucy but his innate shyness has him keeping his feelings well under wraps. He doesn’t feel he has anything to offer her at this time in his life, especially since his time and paycheck goes towards helping his family.

When a once in a lifetime chance appears...will Lucy and Evans be brave and seize the moment? Or will they let their fear overrule their desire?

Office romances are a dime a dozen, but in the right hands they can go from commonplace to extraordinary. Tamsen Parker proves this, and more, in the fifth installment in her Compass seriesm, Due South. Parker gives a reader humorous, sincere, and erotically adorkableromance when she pairs together two office colleagues who are asked to stay and work through the holidays

While this series is normally high in energy with intense personalities and heart-pinching angst, Parker takes a decidedly different approach by introducing us to two quiet and shy individuals who find themselves sharing a voyeuristic moment when they inadvertently catch their employer indulging in some afternoon delight with her husband.

“You know I’ve always wanted to fuck you at your office.“

“Yes, sir.”

“But you’re such a hard task master whenever I do come to pick you up, there’s always someone still here, and when I drop you off, you’re raring to work. I know you’d bite my head off if I suggested it.”

“There’s no one here now, sir,”

Yes, there is. There so is.

From that illuminating moment, our couple learns something about the other. That the shy, retiring persona they project at work hides the sexual creatures they really are. They decide to take advantage of their attraction and the relative seclusion of the empty office to be the adventurous, bold people they feel they can't be around everyone else.
“What if you...weren’t you?”

He starts, but then it seems as though the sun comes up and shines on his face. “You mean like pretend?”

“Yeah. Pretend. Like we could still be Lucy and Evans, but braver.”

“Bolder.”

My breath speeds up and I bite my lip. “Yeah. Sexier.”

Lucy and Evans are a couple for whom the reader will develop a soft spot for almost instantaneously. Using witty dialogue and the perfect blend of awkward sensuality, Parker builds a charming and outrageously sexy relationship that gradually blossoms into something far deeper with each new encounter. We first met Evans when he has to call Reyes Walter for help on how to get his boss, India Burke, on a plane to New York. Reyes offers Evans some interesting advice on dominance which ignites a small flame in Evans.

“She needs someone tough. Someone bossy. Someone authoritative…”

Evans is an entertaining mixture of a gangly teenager experiencing his first lustful thought and a quiet, intense man who is comfortable in his own skin. His bouts of insecurity only further serve to endear him to you.

“If I kept a sword in my office, I’d throw myself on it. As things are, I’ve only got some pencils that are in desperate need of a sharpening, a ruler, and some paperclips. I couldn’t even injure myself in a dignified manner.”

Lucy is his perfect match. A delectable treat made of sugar and spice with her prim and proper attire that masks her inner strength and sexual confidence. Intelligent and forthright with a sweet personality, Lucy opens up to Evans, wanting to explore all her desires and fantasies with him.
“You said more. Like more kissing or more other stuff? What else can I do, Lucy?”

Oh. My mind races with the possibilities. Everything. He could do everything.

“Anything.”

Due South is a fun and lighthearted erotic romance that allows two introverts the freedom to step outside of their perceived roles to explore their sexuality and life choices without judgment or censure. Fans of Tamsen Parker and adorably awkward couples will undoubtedly fall in love with Lucy and Evans; cheering them on their journey from beginning to the end.

“I get the feeling Lucy and I are the same in some ways. Like we’re both nervous and shy and it’s hard to find a place in the world where that’s okay. But I feel as though it would be okay with each other.”

This was such a drag to get through. It says it can be read as a standalone, but there's so much important information about the characters missing that's probably been introduced in the other books that I was so lost the entire time. I still have no idea what their jobs were, just that they had to quickly bust out a report in, like, five days that two other people had been working on for a long time.

Lucy was so "oh gee, I was raised in the church in Iowa, what would my pastor think?" and then the next second is talking about how she wants Evans to ram his cock in her while taking part in an amateur stripping contest.

Evans is wishy washy the entire time. "Oh, so many men probably look at Lucy all the time but I never would disrespect her like that but wow her tits are amazing." He's also incredibly "woe is me, she'd never want me." *Insert dejected feeling*

The writing is cringey and basic. They both have the "best sex of their lives" with each other on A) the bathroom floor of their office kitchen, B) the roughly carpeted floor of their office copy room in the pitch black darkness, and C) in the car outside a strip club with the door open after having just eaten hot chicken wings. Romantic. Also describing something "like whoa" at least three times in the book is just... Not great writing.

It was a chore to get through this book and I truly can't believe the amount of 4 and 5 star ratings this has.

This is a different kind of novel to the rest of the compass series. The books so far in this series have dealt with some pretty tough characters dealing with some pretty tough issues and, let's face it, working through some of those issues with some reasonably hardcore BDSM. None of these books felt typical to me.

This book, however, treads a more ordinary path. It's an office romance with some great sex with some pretty mild BDSM elements. It's a good, enjoyable, if not particularly memorable yarn, kept on the right side of interesting by Parker’s writing which continues to be engaging.

The characters in this book are just so nice. Lucy and Evans are sweet people who deserve a HEA and are perfect for one another. I like that their sexual awakening came about because of catching India and Cris in the act [I will take all the bonus Cris and India I can get]. It could have felt cheesy or like insta-lust but it did’t. The romance progresses believably and sweetly. It's Christmasy, which isn't something I used to look for in a novel and now I think it's adorable when it's done well and it is here (the right balance between too much and enough).

There were places when it went to a level of cheese (the strip joint bit, I really could have done without and it felt like a word count filler, which is so unlike Parker). The reasons keeping these two people apart also never felt significant enough, just underdeveloped. Compare and contrast India, for example, who had such deep issues you genuinely wondered if she'd ever get there with Cris. Or Slade, who was totally messed up and a character who needed to be redeemed. In my opinion, those aspects of this book are off compared to the usual standards.

So for those reasons, it’s probably 3.5 stars rounded up, but it was a lovely read in general.

DNF @32% - Not doing it for me.

Generally, I like a good, cute, nerdy and shy hero, but I also want those aforementioned heroes to make me swoon and ooh and aww over them. This H was supposed to be all of the above, but I just saw him as another generic office worker that was too uncertain and weak to make me ooh and aww about. Couple that with an ok heroine, an ok office backdrop; and you got yourself an ok read... but not enough for Jewelsy to feel the need to continue.

There were no OW issues (from as far as I read) or super frustrating moments, so please don't take my DNF as a bad book flag. It had good flow and dialogue, and I can really see some other readers loving this one. It just simply wasn't for me. My only minimal but non deal-breaking beef was with one scene: Again, it wasn't a deal-breaker for me, but it did put the H on my "meh" shelf.

In the end, I didn't DNF because of anything horribly bad in this book. I DNF'd because I just didn't care about this couple enough to finish. Told in dual POV and standalone story in a series. I jumped straight into this one without reading any others in this series, and I never felt lost.

Lucy is crushed--her mercurial boss has forced her to work over Christmas, so she won’t be able to make it home for the holidays. The only thing that makes the long hours better is her coworker Evans. Spending so much time together in the office (and witnessing something salacious together) leads to some fun, furtive activities between the two of them, but they know it can’t go on because the employee handbook strictly forbids office relationships. This is another of my favorites--it somehow manages to be both flaming hot and sugary sweet. Evans and Lucy are a couple of delightfully shy dorks, and watching them fumble towards a happy ending is just the best. Also, they each need to grow a backbone and deal with junk in their personal lives, and their new relationship gives them the strength and the inspiration to step up.

For His Eyes Only is formerly Due South. This book deserves all the love and praise, so I have redone my review to match this lovely re-skin of my fave series!

Introduction: I am OBSESSED with Tamsen Parker's books, so when I got the opportunity to read this book I jumped at the chance! This series has been uber sexy, uber awesome and has always been a pleasant surprise when I pick the book up and can't put it down.

Review:

The Cover - The cover is probably my favourite out of the whole series. For His Eyes Only has really upped the game. The contrasting colours of the red hair and green-ish blue background make it really stand out. I also love the seductive look that is front and center on this cover. I like the continuation of the sexy looks - in my personal opinion, I like them better than just the single person covers, but that's just me! It gives the book a little extra boost in the sexiness department.

The Content - I'm writing this book as I read it, which is rare for me. I normally like to finish a book and go back through it, but this review shall be the play by play! It's the holidays, let's switch things up in my reviews!
Currently, I've hit Chapter 2 within this review - I love that India and Cris have been mentioned, and then they both get some action scenes. I miss those crazy kids, and having them pop by makes my fan girl heart feel all warm and fuzzy. I also really enjoy that this book starts off with referencing Christmas (and it's being released around Christmas). The vibe I'm getting so far is festive and fan-friendly! Also, within Chapter 2 you already get that R rated swearing involved, which gives me a good chuckle. So readers, beware - if you do not like the swears, this book has a few of them (at least so far). But let's be honest, if I lost a file of some form of importance, I would also be swearing but probably a lot more than Lucy does.

Within Chapter 2, I also love the reference to how some fans felt within the reviews .

Chapter 2 Side note: Evans's is the correct spelling/grammar, but it looks so wrong to me.

Around Chapter 2 the sexy times start, but it's not until Chapter 3 that we get some longer scenes. There are some consent-based comments, that in my opinion is a great addition to any novel, but it's presented in a very cute/funny way. I really enjoyed this small addition to the scene, because it broke some of the tension but added to the comedy that these books present. It felt right in the situation as well, and with these characters. It might not have seem as great in a Cris/India scene because they are so tension heavy, but Lucy/Evans have the perfect combination for some cute, side scenes within their chapters. Even some of Lucy's thoughts during these sexy scenes are funny - describing Evans's so we get a better understanding of his characters.

Side note: While reading this book, if you do readers...think about this...Are there cameras in copy rooms?... Or in the office?... #Awkward

As you continue on throughout the chapters, you'll find that Lucy and Evans have a very different relationship than the past characters. Lucy and Evans, while they have intense and hot scenes, are also quite comedic and adorkable. They'll be getting hot and heavy, and suddenly they throw comedic gems out into the open that doesn't break the situations, it adds to it. I really enjoyed every little comment, and I want to quote every single one, but that would ruin any suspense for the future readers. So I'll leave it at this - this is one of my favourite books in this series so far (although Cris and India are probably still my favourite couple...but not by much. Maybe just a centimeter.)

This book is definitely worth the read. Typically, this far into a series the books start to fade off and go into obscurity, but this book really stepped it up. I wasn't expecting to laugh as much as I did in this book and I love the characters almost as much as the main starter couples. I really loved this book, and if I could give it six out of five stars, I would!

The story line is easy to follow, and seems realistic (within the realm of sexy reads, of course). I wasn't left with many questions, and I found the plot moved smoothly and at a fast enough pace to enjoy it. I even managed to read this book right through beginning to end (minus a few pit stops in adding parts into this review). It's a good book to read in one sitting, and it'll make you crave even more!

Overall: Tamsen does step up some of her writing in this book - some voyeurism occurs, which is a slight change from her past novels. There also seems to be a pinch or roleplay, depending on how you read into the situation. And a splash of beach sex (get it...splash? Oh, I love puns). There's also a few other surprises around the corner, because Tamsen doesn't like to disappoint!

This book has an adorkable x-factor that will leave you craving more sexy, seductive heroines and leading men from Tamsen Parker!

I definitely want more from Tamsen. As she continues to write her books, she develops her style and goes bigger and better. I haven't yet been disappointed in a book, so I'm thrilled for her next release!

Five out of five stars.

PS. In the acknowledgments I also got a little giggle - thanking readers for the "trip" when it's the "compass" series...Yeah. I love puns!

Favorite Quote: No, seriously. This is my life. Hyperventilating in my office because my boss almost caught me getting blown by her secretary in her bathroom. After running down a hallway naked except for clothes I'd been wearing over twenty-four hours clutched against my junk.

Office affairs, man. They aren't for the weak.

While the books in this series are stand alones, they have all held a common theme - BDSM. And some have had very intense BDSM with damaged characters looking to be healed. I've enjoyed them for the most part. When I started Due South, I was very surprised that this book holds a completely different tone. Lucy and Evans are both very shy, awkward and very into each other. They are co-workers who both work for a woman named India. Those that have read this series are very familiar with her. She is a demanding boss - fair, but not for the faint of heart. When she asks Lucy and Evans to work over Christmas, they are both a little disappointed to not have a Christmas break.

Chanoch Evans, (people just call him Evans because they can't pronounce his first name) has been crushing big time on Lucy for a long time, but he is so shy, he has never approached her. Plus, being co-workers makes it awkward to date. But when Evans and Lucy accidentally see India and her husband doing something quite naughty in her office, lust overcomes Evans and he makes a move on Lucy. They have hot office sex - and then realize they should do it again. Evans has a brother suffering from PTSD and financial guilt from his mother - so he feels like he is not in the best place in his life to offer anything stable to Lucy, but once he gets a taste of her, he can't let her go.

Tamsen Parker blends super awkward characters with super erotic scenes so well in this one. They aren't sure what to do with themselves once they discover they like having sex. They don't know how to proceed or how to interact. It's so very sweet.

"What if you...weren't you?"

He starts, but then it seems as though the sun comes up and shines on his face. "You mean like pretend?"

"Yeah. Pretend. Like we could still be Lucy and Evans, but braver."

"Bolder."

My breath speeds up, and I bite my lip. "Yeah. Sexier."

Evans discovers a bossy side when he gets Lucy naked - and it gives him confidence and made me smile.

So I shove aside all my awkwardness and insecurities to let a few words out, words I hope will help me drag that guy out to play. I clear my throat, hoping to take the awkwardness with it. "Yes Lucy. I'd like to have sex with you again. I'd like to have sexy with you right now, in fact. So save your files, neaten your desk, and I'll meet you in the copy room in ten minutes."

I turn back to head down the hall to my office. I never thought I'd get to open the box of condoms I keep in my desk. But I did get to. And not only did I get to use one condom, I'm going to use another one shortly. Evans, you're the man.

You are Evans!

Lucy has risen from plain secretary to India to being someone India relies on heavily - but Lucy still doesn't get much praise or support from her parents. Evans steps up and becomes someone who helps her feel confidence and more sure of herself. It's a really great relationship.

I'm going to end with a quote that Tori ended with in her review because I love it and it sums them up perfectly:

“I get the feeling Lucy and I are the same in some ways. Like we’re both nervous and shy and it’s hard to find a place in the world where that’s okay. But I feel as though it would be okay with each other.”

I liked the idea of 2 shy and awkward co-workers starting an office romance.

Basically they saw their boss having sex with her husband and that inspired them both to be kinky together and start having sex around the office.

I just never felt an emotional connection. He told her about his brother's PTSD after serving in the Middle East and she printed out some brochures on benefits that are available to him.

I guess after working together for 6 years they already knew each other well?

In Due South, India has a project due and two of her best employees are tasked with completing it before the deadline which lands right at the holidays.

Lucy and Evans don't really mind that they are stuck in the office -- both have challenging family situations and after seeing just what their boss is really into, they've decided to break the rules and engage in an office hookup. At least that's how it starts -- they agree to a friends with benefits situation that has an expiration date. After all, office entanglements are against office rules, so they have to keep things to themselves. And none of that is easy!

I really adored the sense of humor and adventure in this installment in The Compass series. There are some really cute scenes where they may just get caught in a compromising position at the office, but these two are just so adorable together that I couldn't help but fall for them. There was just a lot to smile about with this story, especially the romance between these these office mates. Try as they might to keep it all on the down-low, they just happen to fall for each other in the process, complicating the work situation or so they think.

Due South is a great addition to the series. It's a very sweet holiday story and I just loved it! Definitely worth checking out.

This is a super steamy holiday romance about two coworkers who have to cancel their plans and stay put to knock out a project. Lucy and Evans were so sweetly awkward together! Evans has had a crush on her for ages but she’s never really thought of him that way until they’re at the office late one night and some unexpected voyeurism comes into play.

Both have complicated family dynamics and I really loved how the story explored this. Evans needs to set boundaries with his family who doesn’t appreciate the sacrifices he’s made to help them. Lucy is dealing with past Purity Culture shaming from her church and family, as well as generally feeling unseen and unappreciated by her family because she hasn’t followed the traditional marriage-and-children path. While Lucy and Evans have put a deadline on their hookups, they keep doing things to show they care and it was so sweet to watch. Evans’s grand gesture toward the end was beyond swoon-worthy! I loved everything about this story.

I had an early copy of this and really enjoyed it - a contrast from the previous books in the series, this one is funny and sexy with less of a BDSM theme and more about two people getting the courage to go for what they want. Hot office sex, combined with laugh out loud internal monologues and a super sweet hero. Delightful!

I discovered this author recently and have been working through her back catalogue. This book was so fantastic! The perfect balance of sweet and heat. A funny exploration of two characters finding someone they could be themselves with. I binged it in one session and smiled the whole way through. Definitely recommend.

Book Review
Book Title: Due South (Compass Series #5)
Book Author: Tamsen Parker

Introduction: I am OBSESSED with Tamsen Parker's books, so when I got the opportunity to read this book I jumped at the chance! This series has been uber sexy, uber awesome and has always been a pleasant surprise when I pick the book up and can't put it down.

Review:

The Cover - The cover is probably my favourite out of the whole series. I loved True North, but Due South has really upped the game.

The Chapters - The chapters them self have a cute little compass, and I seriously adore that. On any other book, without them, it just seems plain. But I adore the little compasses! It gives a little extra flare and personality to this novel. Love it!!

Two, real, smart, adorkable, sexy co-workers have a fling while redoing a botched project at work over the Christmas holidays. The two MC's felt so real to me. Tamsen Parker did such a great job of making their interactions as closely modelled after real life, as possible. For example, he gets a deeper 'do what I say' voice during sex, but also wonders in his head "Is this EVEN sexy to her? Am I making a fool of myself?”. She struggles with guilt and shame around sex, because of her religious upbringing. These two really deserved each other and I'm glad they got their HEA.

DNF @ 27%

I just can’t do with two innocent, awkward people having sex. Cringe. The girl was raised in a church thinking she can’t enjoy sex and it’s constantly in her thoughts. Both of their families are shitty towards them, too.

I SO related to this story of well intentioned awkwardness and sincerity. It's sweet, steamy, and very "adorkably" funny.

"Has someone ever managed to commit suicide with office supplies? Because I’m so heinously mortified that that seems like a reasonable alternative to having to face Lucy ever again. She turns and smacks straight into the doorframe and I think about getting up to help her, but then my pants would probably fall down and I’d be hobbling after her with them around my ankles and, judging by how things are going, would likely faceplant right into her cleavage and tackle her to the ground..."

Lucy and Evans are conscientious and dedicated coworkers who, through circumstances, find themselves in an office liaison. But it's nothing more than physical... Right? No, of course not...

“I’d like to get fucked.”
“Then we may both be in luck because I’d very much like to fuck you.”

For Lucy, the honorable and compassionate Evans finds himself wanting more, and wanting to give her more.

"I get the feeling Lucy and I are the same in some ways. Like we’re both nervous and shy and it’s hard to find a place in the world where that’s okay. But I feel as though it would be okay with each other."

While neither is the Master of their Universe, they're still strong and capable people who grow individually throughout the story. And I love this, watching a character's growth, becoming more than who they started out as.
This story offers tons of feels and ratchets the libido with its steamy, endearing, and kinky sex.
And, while they can be fun, if you're looking for more than an alpha hero who's done it all and is perfect at everything, give Evans a read; he'll make you swoon for the beta.

I voluntarily read an ARC of Due South.

Words cannot express how much I loved this story. Chanoch, or Evans as everyone calls him, has a crush on Lucy. Lucy also thinks Evans is hot but neither has time for a relationship with the demanding India for a boss and the company handbook expressly forbids fraternization between employees. But staying late one night they inadvertently witness Cris, India’s husband, dominating her and they can’t resist any longer.
Both these people are so sweet and battling their inner demons telling them they can’t be the people they want to be. Their relationship is unlike most romance novels in that they are so touchingly tender to each other, you would have a hard time picturing them in a romance at all but it works so well and they are so likeable. In his own sweet way, Evans figures out what Lucy likes and he gives her what she needs in a way no other in her life ever has. She also gives him the greatest gift anyone could give Evans and it isn’t what you would expect.
Lots of surprising twists and turns and lots of tender moments sprinkled with some really hot office sex that will leave you seeing the copy room very differently after reading. I highly recommend this novel.

I am a little confused as the title of the book I read is “For His Eyes Only”, in The After Hours series; not “Due South” in The Compass series. Plus, the cover is a provocative picture of a sexy woman with her hands tied with a Christmas bow. Nothing like the 1950s cover shown on Goodreads. The main characters are the same and both books are about two co-workers that unexpectedly hook-up and share steamy sex at work. So it is the same book with a “Facelift”.
Evan comes across as hardworking junior executive but nothing special and sorta geeky. Lucy is the competent administrative assistant to their tyrant boss, India. After witness India and her husband sharing a very sexy tryst at work, Evan is hard and Lucy is wet. Both are ready for some action of their own. From there a very sweet and steamy Holiday affair begins. They agree their office fling will end when they complete the special project they are working on during the week of Christmas. Of course, feelings develop and they both know what they share is more than mind-blowing sex.

Was listening to the audiobook. Got to 14% and then learned about the MC's disabled vet brother with PTSD and addiction, who was in a car crash. Not up for reading that kind of content today. May finish this later.

Bliss.

Adorable Evans had his little piece of heavenly bliss coming since he basically got India to board the plane to NY in Personal Geography. Or was it Intimate Geography? I can’t remember and it doesn’t matter. What matters is that he deserved it and he finally gets it in Due South.

And this little intro does not by any means to imply that Lucy doesn’t. Deserves the same, that is. LOL

I’ll start by saying I absolutely love the cover of the book. I rarely note my impression about book covers, but this one definitely deserves it. Somehow, it’s on point with the feel of the characters.

I’m going to say absolutely nothing about the plot, but I’m going to pour my heart out about both characters. We already know all about India, all her ups and downs, her dominant side at work and her submissive persona. And we know that everything, but everything she does, is 100000%. So between Lucy and Evans, I’ll start with Lucy:

Side note: We’re about a week before Christmas and an important project needs to be reworked.

Lucy is your typical unfulfilled employee. India being India, she recognizes exactly how far Lucy’s potential goes, and she takes every little bit and stretches her to her fullest. Lucy is the sweetest, most loyal, most self-deprecating redhead. She’s India’s secretary/personal assistant but she’s doing much more. Working on various project with the other client managers, Lucy’s attention to detail and her ability to see forward and a little beyond the specific task makes her the one at the office everyone is depended on.

But Lucy is a lot more than that. She sees herself as a failure. Growing up in a small, very Christian community, she was raised to be the little woman, God fearing and one that doesn’t stand out. Being more than that, she set after her hearts desire – Hollywood. That failing, she’s working for India, and suffers constantly at the voices of her family. She’s not married, she’s got no children, she tried but failed, she should come home.

Not going home for Christmas to work on the project, Lucy is “stuck” at the office almost 24/7 with Evans.

Evans is pretty much perfection. To me. I mean, sure, he has his flaws, but he’s so sweet. And so devoted to his family (totally undeserved, btw) that his life is taking a major backseat – putting his brother and parents first. And he loves, loves, loves, his job. There are parts in the story where we get exact words that describe how he sees his job and his role in his job and its effects.

Evans definitely has a little, very slight and very aware, kinky side. He’s incredibly anxious acting on what he feels and the way he’s treating Lucy is the proof. While both Lucy and Evans go through a very big change in perception, I feel like Evans’s change is more dramatic. Maybe because it’s both actual as well as mental whereas Lucy’s is almost completely (in my opinion anyway) is mental.

When I’m trying to look at the relationship building between Evans and Lucy, they both contribute something to the other that’s beyond explaining in plain words. They both enter a time limited, forbidden physical relationship, and with each day that’s passing towards the day the project is submitted, they grow more and more attached. Granted, they both feel it’s physicality alone, but when the point comes where they think it may also be emotional – you know it’s too late, right?

The kink here is very subtle. It’s not the traditional BDSM romance we’re used to from Parker, but there is an aspect of voyeurism and hidden exhibitionism that’s very exciting to read.

I admit, when I finished reading, after I promised myself I’m going to read it very slowly so it’ll last and failed miserable (I was done the next day), I was hovering somewhere above the 4 stars rating. But now that I’ve written my thoughts… It’s solid in my mind. (and without even a mention of Rey throughout)

Due South, (The Compass 5),Tamsen Parker

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:   Romance, Erotica

I love Tamsen’s Compass series, and this time, book five, we meet Lucy and Evans. Its a bit of a departure from the other stories, not the usual Dom and sub story, but more two people who aren’t in to BDSM but get a hint that they might actually like it. Kind of Compass Lite ;-)

Evans and Lucy aren’t into the BDSM scene but then they see India and Cris one night and it shocks them both – they never imagined their boss, the ball breaking, fair but tough woman, would be a sub....and they like what they see, very much.
Its something that's probably true of very many people, don’t fancy the whole thing, or have never experienced any of it but when they get an introduction, even by unintended voyeurism, they like what they see.
Its why Ann Summers and co do so well. People don’t want to be that open, don’t want to go to a club, but a bit of fun at home appeals.

They are so entranced by what they see that its made them both very turned on, and things happen that lead to some scorching sex.
Office rules forbid office relationships though, and both need their jobs. They agree that as no-one else is likely to be around, it being Christmas and they the only ones working on the special project, they could have a short term bit of fun.

There’s some cracking humour here, funny quotes from both of them that had me sniggering...
Evans-  “if I kept a sword in my office I’d throw myself on it. As things are I’ve only got some pencils in desperate need of a sharpening, a ruler and some paperclips. I couldn’t even injure myself in a dignified manner”

As well as the humour there’s a serious thread, how Evans is tied to his family, how families struggle when things breakdown, and of course poor Lucy’s strong religious upbringing. The sort where someone with generous boobs is told constantly to be aware of not tempting men to do things they shouldn’t.
That old Always the woman’s fault for wearing provocative clothes, looking the wrong way at a man, wearing makeup etc that drives me nuts. What about teaching the men self control, to respect a lady? Sadly its an idea that permeates even a so called modern secular society, where girls/ladies get the blame constantly.
Lucy keeps second guessing her actions, and even though she knows her family's ideas are wrong she still can’t quite let go of the blame.
Of course the few days come to an end after some serious hot and erotic sex, and neither really want to stop but they’re both so polite, so self effacing, so not convinced that the want is there for the other person too...so what's going to happen now?

Its a great read, a really nice story, with some steamy encounters, but I did miss the drama of the other stories.

And like many others I’m Desperate for Rey’s story, he’s been tantalised all through the novels, and even though he’s not In this one he’s still there in thoughts when Evan recalls his advice back when India was having a freak out over going in a plane. His book is next – hurrah, I really want to see how he started, know him better than just the man behind the scenes, and India's good friend.
