Saved By A Kingpin

Rate this book
Riley Washington is the epitome of a strong black woman; loving, free-hearted, and kind. Not only that, she is strikingly gorgeous, witty, and smart. But she is also damaged. No matter how many great qualities she possesses; Riley has ended up scorned by love time and time again. This time though, when love leaves her with absolutely nothing and she is ready to call it quits once and for all, she finds refuge in an unlikely place. Mason Moore is handsome, wealthy, and noble. But for every positive attribute there is an even stronger, much more ruthless quality hidden underneath the surface. Growing up the son of a street legend in Passaic, New Jersey's Aspen Place Projects, Mase has been groomed for the street life ever since he could remember. So when Mase inherited his title of Kingpin along with all the burdens that came along with it when his father was murdered in cold blood he was up for the challenge. Along with his childhood friend Steele, Mase has prided himself on his ability to continue to build and grow the organization that was handed to him with ease... that is until money turns up missing and a new flame threatens to knock him off of his square. Riley and Mase hit it off instantly and seem to be made for each other but can they really trust the fairytale their connection appears to be? Is it real or is their love circumstantial? Are they entertaining the idea of something that isn't meant to last? With both their pasts hell bent on being a part of their futures, falling in love with each other could cost Mase and Riley not only their relationship but also their lives.

More like a wanna be kingpin if anything. I fought hard to get into this story, but it didn’t seem to click together for anything. Riley was having a horrible day and Mase stepped in to help her. She left the state while Mase made the dumbest move ever for him to be a so-called kingpin with Steele who seems to do whatever he wants. Mase tracks Riley down and they hookup then she turns around and her ex pops up. The things Kamel did were out there for the reason the two broke up to start with. If he was that rah-rah, he should’ve gone harder than he did the day she caught him in the act.

Riley’s able to get away from Kamel and she runs right back to Mase who whisks her away, she didn’t go to the police and they didn’t look for her. Never mind what went down with her cousin and all that, that was swept under the bridge. This is really the second time the two have been in each other’s company but that doesn’t matter, they’re now together and she’s moved into one of his homes. Mase turns right around and is messing with his suppose ex but he’s still been having sex with her. All Riley seems to be worried about is Mase bank account.

Mase and his right-hand fallout after meeting with one of his workers. The worker throws out some nonsense and Mase quickly tries to get his right hand back on his side. The final meet up with Mase and Kamel is the dumbest ever. Mase is supposed to be this boss but Kamel is able to not only make it out the car but also pop off. I predict the mess the worker was talking about is going to be Kamel and Steele is going to change up. Riley is so worried about Kamel not dying that it’s laughable. She’s distracting Mase with all these questions and actually has an attitude with what he did to Kamel. It made no sense. I highly doubt I will give this another read, it was just too dumb and annoying to follow along with.

A story you won’t be able to resist

I love how Mase step up and became Riley night shining armor she needed a real a men to step up to the plate and show her whah real love and a real relationship looks like I’m like Kamrel f boy self he was selfish and inconsiderate to leave someone who was a good women to you for street trash I don’t understand guys if you don’t want to be with a person let them know instead of wasting someone time. I hope Steele not the one stealing from Mase because he wants to be on top but this how the streets work you can’t put your truest into everyone because you’ll be looking over your head for the rest of your life unless you take out the snake I really enjoy this book can’t wait to read Part 2 to see how everything will work out with everyone

This was my first book from this author and I enjoyed it. The rise of Mase and Riley wasn't all that different from most urban fiction love stories, with the same crazy exes and back stabbing friends and side pieces who will predictably be the nemesis to them in future books, but I was entertained none the less. Good book. Looking forward to the next installment.

What Just Happened

This book was good from the start to end. But what just happened??!!! I like Mase for Riley but it seems like she’s stupid to the fact that Kamal is a maniac and he’s trying to protect her. Then you have Steel hating ass who created a whole mess and let’s not forget about the desperate ex Cassandra. What’s about to happen in part 2? Stop and read!!!!

Not my cup of tea

Couldn't hold my attention. Fast paced and didn't badge sense. Just met a man on the front lawn but knows his name, wife name as well as kids and their schools....like are you serious. In my opinion, you wanted them to meet too fast. Slow it down and take yo time

Saved

Not a bad read. There were some grammatical errors as if it was rushed through edit. The story line is pretty solid. We'll see how the next installment goes.

Saved by a Kingpin

Kamel is really crazy. I need more background on him. Something is telling me that Steele is behind a lot of this. I hope Mase and Riley can make it work.

Great Story

I love the characters in this book. They are realistically flawed and their story is developed well. It has drama but not too much, just enough to keep the story flowing. Riley started to annoy me in the end because she wasn't looking at her situation clearly. Can't wait to read part 2

People aren't always who they seem.

Riley loved Kamel, (sorry, lazy, cheating thief), with all her heart, only to be left out in the cold, until the handsome Mason Moore becomes her knight in shining armor. Although Riley doesn't want to allow Mason in, something about him has her curious, and falling for the mysterious man. Mason, a man with a lifestyle that isn't for the faint at heart is becoming weak for a women he hardly knows. This book will leave you on the edge of your seat,as the lives of these characters have you wondering How in the world....
Where in the world....
Did he/ did she, are they.....
Can't wait for the second installment. Great job

It's Really Getting Hot!!

It's crazy how you run into your superman. But it takes a whole lot of things to happen and go wrong for you to know he's the one for you truly. Mase was captain save a hoe for this girl for real!! But why can't she see that no matter what he is going to protect her because she is his woman!! Everyone on Mase's team is suspect as ever. Never give your enemy your back to kiss. Some foul stuff is going on and I hope Mase and Riley makes it out alive!!! Great book!!

Crazy

She thought she was saved but the trouble is still there. Her ex is so crazy how could she not see it before? There is something strange going on with Steele. Why is he acting like this towards Mase maybe he jealous or something. How does Kamel always know where to find Riley. Part 2 is going to be so crazy.

Must Read

I really enjoyed reading this book. I love Mase and Riley together, I really hope the work out. But with all the constant drama and Kamel hell bent on trying to kill Riley it seems impossible. I can't wait to read book 2. And what's up with Steele, it seems to me like he want to be the one running things, so Mase better watch his back.
