I was more interested in the early days of oil exploitation than reading about (then) current events, so I lost a lot of interest as the book went on. I had picked up this up for some reason about a decade ago and never got around to finishing it, so essentially I read it for completion's sake. If you want to learn more about the oil industry then you could surely do worse than this, though. Not bad.

The role of oil, oil companies, and secret deals in international conflicts is something you won't find in a typical history book taught in school but this book is eye-opening in pulling down the shade hiding these ugly truths.
