This collection of short stories, written by a group of top erotic romance authors was put together by Rachel Kramer Bussel. I found it quite fun to read. It's got love, kink, & lust, runs the gamut from medium wild to wild, and it was a good sampling of erotica. I found much of the writing quite (steamy) good and the majority of it stayed hot and interesting. It was good for night reading as the stories are short so you can read one or several. Or you could share some ideas with a partner, or just inhale the entire thing just for yourself. My thanks to NetGalley, Cleis Press, and editor Bussel for the gratis ARC to review from.

If it has Rachel Kramer Bussel's name on the jacket then you know it's going to be filled with well written, sexy erotica and romance. Lots of different interpretations of what each author thinks about the theme, "On Fire." Mostly heterosexual romance here, but there are some bondage tales and a little bit of M/M and F/F too. Personally, I'm always wishing for more F/F stories or threesomes, but that's just me. :) Satisfying quick reads to enjoy before bedtime or anytime you have an extra 15 or 20 minutes to spare and want to enjoy a few thrills.

This all star roster of authors doesn't have to appeal to the lowest common denominator to be good. No cheap gratuitous gimmicks here. Just good writing. Perfect reading for break-time at work, that long train ride, or whenever you need a quick pop. With so much high quality storytelling, it's hard to pick a favorite, but I especially enjoyed Lynn Townsend's tale. This wordsmith, forges a solid pice of pithy erotica. She paints a picture with vivid, sexual language. Proving that quality erotica can be classy, and filthy, in the same sentence. If you're looking for hot, smart, non misogynistic erotica, this is your book.

I really enjoy reading anthologies especially if they are edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel. In fact this is my 30th I've read edited by her. I'm always pleasantly surprised at how the various authors interpret the theme of the collection of short stories she assembles. This anthologies theme is On Fire. The first line of the introduction asks the question "What does it mean to be on fire?" Well, these authors and their short stories answer that question in various ways. There are 21 short stories and as with most anthologies some stories stuck with me more than others. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the other stories because I did it's just that a handful really resonated with me. These are some of my favourites.
Sensitive To The Touch by Donna George Storey made me order some real silk stockings. They are not cheap but boy are they worth it. And no I'm not getting any kickbacks from silk stocking companies.
Lily's Last Stand by Delilah Devlin is a sexy, sweet, what am I wearing under the trench coat to my husbands office but with the couple discovering some new things about each other.
Favourite Masquerade by Angela R. Sargenti is an extremely hot twist on Romeo and Juliet.
Barbed Loved by Tasmin Flowers tells the story of a wife obsessed by the younger, hot pool boy until her husband comes home after being away for a few weeks sporting some new facial hair and the new sensations that comes with that.
Sabine and Cael: Home by Corinne A. Silver is an extremely tender, sweet and very sexy story about a couple finally getting their deepest wish.
Art of Darkness by Heidi Champa. A steamy, hot encounter in a dark room.
The Dance by Rachel Kramer Bussel. A new take on a loving couple who happens to be swingers.
Con Artist by Veronica Wilde. 2 self proclaimed nerds finally find love and each other after a series of misunderstandings.
Approaching Hardcore by Jacqueline Applebee's. A husband finally fulfills one of his wife's sexual fantasy after various awkward attempts.
The Exhibition by Malin James. Former lovers meet again after they decide to take a break.
There really is something for everyone's taste. I definitely recommend this collection.

Very well written romance novels that is about different couples making their relationship work.
The short stories are hot and filled with emotions and chemistry. They are a fast read but has in spite of that lots in them to read. Each story is different and you can read a version of Romeo and Juliet - a vampire couple.
Few of the stories were not for my liking but I am sure other will love them. And that is good about this type of books. There is something for everybody.
Most of the authors were new to me but they caught my interest.
Worth the read.

Nice collection of sexy short stories here.

Sensitive to the Touch by Donna George Storey features Angelique and her boyfriend Jeremy and a pair of silk stockings he gets her for her birthday. Short and sexy.

Just Knowing by Kristina Wright features Deb and her sexy new man David showing that Deb has a new lease on life after her douche ex cheated on her. Very sexy and sweet.

Lily's Last Stand by Delilah Devlin features Lily and her husband Brent renewing their passion after being married for awhile and having kids again. I liked seeing Lily turn into the sexy vixen Brent never realized she was.

Masquerade by Angela R. Sargenti features Jules and Raff, two vampires who decide to play sexy games with a young engaged couple. Sexy and has some bisexual MM and FF scenes.

The Sweetest Thing by Giselle Renarde features Desi and Brian and the first time she's come in a long time because for some reason she's desensitized. I didn't like this one, it was weird and unfulfilling, not sexy at all.

The Exhibition by Malin James features Emily and Eric, a couple getting together to "talk" after being on a break for a few months. It's sexy and she gets a surprise at his art exhibition.

Approaching Hardcore by Jacqueline Applebee features Cath and her husband Dan and an orgy he organizes for her because it's one of her fantasies. If you like girl on girl action this is for you. I don't, so this one isn't my cup of tea.

Behind the Blindfold by Rebecca Croteau features a couple playing sexy games with a blindfold. VERY sexy.

Every Second of It by Lynn Townsend features a couple married for 23 years who are dealing with a possibly terminal diagnosis so the husband is determined for them to spend every second together. Sexy but melancholy given the diagnosis.

A Place as Beautiful as This by A.M. Hartnett features Sophie and Boyd reuniting after knowing each other as kids. It's sweet and sexy.

The Marionettes by SD Ryan features Denny and Tegan exploring Prague and coming upon a puppet shop that inspires them to have a sexy tryst in an alleyway.

Satisfaire by G.C. Elizabeth features a chef and his lover and their first declaration of love while having a romp in the bathtub. Sexy and would be great if expanded into a full length novel.

Con Artist by Veronica Wilde features Christina and Matt, a couple meeting in person for the first time at a con. Hot geek love abounds!

The Arrangement by Kay Jaybee features Zoe and Lee and their weird arrangement. I'm still not sure what the arrangement was and who exactly they are to each other. Not recommended at all.

My Wife, My Sub, My Love by Victoria Blisse features Bonnie, a sub and wife to her husband. It's a very one sided little story that I didn't enjoy.

Barbed Love by Tamsin Flowers features Mona and her husband Hank, who discover his new beard makes oral sex all the better.

Sabine and Cael: Home by Corrine A. Silver features Sabine and Cael, a married couple whose dream of having children is finally coming true. They have one last tryst before becoming parents and it's emotional and sexy.

Dreams Made Flesh by Lawrence Westerman features a couple who discovers he wants to be whipped and to serve his new mistress. Not my thing but I suppose it's sexy if you're into dommes and their male subs.

Art of Darkness by Heidi Champa features Stephen and Nicole who discover that having sex in his darkroom with all the lights off makes the anticipation nearly unbearable as she waits for him to make his move. And when he does make his move she can picture what they're doing in her mind and it makes it even better.

The Dance by Rachel Kramer Bussel features a married couple who lives the swinging lifestyle and has seduced a young, innocent couple into their bedroom for some fun and she finds that they may not be as innocent as they appear. If you like swinging and/or girl on girl action, this may be the story for you.

Paradise by Jade A. Waters features Anna and Justin, who reunite in Puerto Rico after having been apart for 3 years while they each got their careers up and running. It's sweet and heartfelt and I'd definitely love to read it if it were expanded to full novel length.

My favorites are Paradise, Sabine and Cael: Home, Satisfaire, Every Second of It, and Just Knowing. But there is something for just about anyone here so take a dive into it.

Romance is not something I typically look for in erotica, but when I found out Rachel Kramer Bussel had edited an erotic romance anthology, my interest was piqued. RKB's anthologies have always delivered, and On Fire is no exception. This collection truly lived up to its title by delivering delicious heat on every page.

Here are the stories that stood out to me the most:

Masquerade by Angela R. Sargenti:

A vampire tale but so much more than that. This one had a twist that was artfully executed. The language was hypnotic. I was a bit weirded out by what seemed to me as nonconsent in the story...but because it was in a fantasy story featuring the undead, I was able to put aside my discomfort. I thoroughly enjoyed it aside from that.

Sabine and Cael: Home by Corrine A. Silver:

This was tender, sexy, and such a realistic portrayal of love and fear in the midst of big life changes.

Barbed Love by Tamsin Flowers:

A pool boy fantasy that turns into something even better. Tamsin Flowers took a cliche and turned it on its head. I loved the originality.

The Dance by Rachel Kramer Bussel:

I have never read a swinger story quite this hot. This was my favorite tale in the anthology.

I liked every story in the collection, which is pretty rare for me. Each title brought something new and unique to the table. Plus, men with beards made multiple appearances, and they were utterly awesome.

This was a pretty good collection of erotic romance. With 21 stories by different authors, each one had it's own vibe - some quick to the point, others a bit more of a slow burn, none longer that 15 pages. While the quick nature works for many of these, a few stories could have benefited from adding a little more plot. Instead they felt like scenes plucked out of a full length novel. Not badly written or unsexy, just not as fully fleshed out as the others.

A few standouts for me were A Place as Beautiful as This; Con Artist; Art of Darkness; Paradise; and The Dance, with this final one being written by the editor Rachel Kramer Bussel, was my favorite. Collections of erotica always seem to work well when they are varied around different situations and kinks, which is what is presented here. Whether your preference is love in marriage or a relationship, near strangers, stocking/foot fetishes, BDSM, cheaters, old acquaintances, threesomes or swingers, you're likely to find one or two stories that get you a little hot & bothered. **Sorry furry fans - you're excluded from this book.

Overall a great book to read even if you have only a few minutes to get a story in or if you're looking for something to read aloud in bed. Since I enjoyed her story most and the general variety, I would definitely look into other books edited or written by Rachel Kramer Bussel.

I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I am reviewing the book honestly and voluntarily.

Often with this type of book the stories you get are just glorified porn and even more often seem to be virtual carbon copies of stories in other books. I didn't find that with On Fire, instead I found a collection of very hot and more importantly well written short stories.

One or two were not to my taste, but in a compilation that is bound to happen. Many of these stories were enough to make me interested in finding more work by the author. The characters were interesting, the writing was good and, despite the brevity of the story, the chemistry was believable and very steamy.

For once I have found an erotic compilation book that I am happy to recommend to others.

I really enjoyed each of these short stories, lots of hot n sexy scenes along with some sweet romantic moments. Some were more erotic than others, so had a good balance of what id want to read, each were a little bit in each persons lives, some back story with them. Good for some down time reading a quick story.

This is my first anthology edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel. However, it won't be my last. With a host of authors and their interpretation of the theme On Fire, it was like opening a box of chocolates. Some were more to my taste than others, but I sampled them all. Of the twenty one short stories, below are some of my favorites.

Sensitive To The Touch by Donna George Storey had me investing in real silk stockings and loving the feel.

Lily's Last Stand by Delilah Devlin had me getting my trench coat all cleaned up and wondering how to catch my husband alone at his office.

Art of Darkness by Heidi Champa. Being afraid of the dark, I wasn't sure about this story. By the end, I was ready to turn off the lights and have fun.

The Dance by Rachel Kramer Bussel. The humor in the editor's own story kept me giggling while enjoying this hot loving couple who happen to be swingers.

4.75 Stars rounded up to 5 stars.

Another awesome collection of erotica edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel. I really enjoyed the couple theme throughout the book and the diversity in couples who had been together short-term, long-term, and even in non-conventional relationships. I did find that the stories in the beginning were "hot" and then toward the end is where I really felt the "fire" so I'm glad that the head kept increasing throughout!

My faves were:
Satisfaire
The Exhibition
The Arrangement
Sabine and Cael: Home
Art of Darkness
The Dance

I highly recommend this anthology to those who love erotica as well as those who are new to the genre.

This collection of short, erotic stories was good, but I definitely liked some stories better than others. A few weren't very developed at all, even for a short story. There is a little sexy for everyone in this collection of short erotic romance stories and some I enjoyed more than others. Most have that steam readers of erotic romances are after but some for me, lacked that heat I was looking for. This is certainly a mixed bag of stories but if you are looking for short and heated, this is a nicely put together collection.

I don't even remember when I started this book. But when I needed/wanted something quick to read or in between other books I'd read one of two stories at a time. Then the book got set aside and I forgot about it for awhile, until I came across it earlier this week. I think the best story was the one written by Ms. Bussel herself, and I will probably look for some of her other work.

On Fire is a collection of erotic romance stories. They are all very short reads and you want more from each book. In fact, calling them books is incorrect. More like samples because of how short they are. Even novella have more in them than these have. Over all, I can say skip this one unless it’s free. Even that, I feel that I want my time back. Heck, I can’t even call these even erotic romance stories. And I am sorry to say that it is NOT WORTH 10.99 for this book! Plus, if any of the stores don’t make me want to jump my husband when he’s here, then it isn’t hot enough to be called erotica!

Introduction: Fired Up
This is to let you know what you are in for each of the books. They are written by different authors. You need to remember that authors have different styles of writing. This is just a few pages long, if you want to even read it.
Sensitive to the Touch by Donna George Storey – 1 star
So, this is mostly about a couple in college. She found out that he is a leg man and likes stocking. It’s his birthday. You can guess the rest. Is it good? No. I found it boring and not all that erotic. But of course, I have never had 100% French silk pantyhose before.
Just Knowing by Kristina Wright – 1.5 stars
It’s a party…with your EX? Then one of the guys that you dated right after the break up shows up to rescue you. Passionate kissing and it leads to sex. But they both want more. Will they get more than sex? Don’t know because the book ends.
Lily’s Last Stand by Devlin – 2.5 stars
OMG! This book was so much hotter than the last two. Downside, it could have gone on to be a novella. It was a great start. Talk about getting your guy hot at work. Lily did that and more!
Masquerade by Angela R. Sargenti – 2 stars
This is an interesting book. It’s a twist of what happened to another old story. I’m not going to spoil it for you. There is sex and then same sex and then love. It was a nice book. But sorry to say, it need more.
The Sweetest Thing by Giselle Renarde – 1 star
I really don’t know what to say about this book. I understand it but still it is so short but to the point fast. But talk about how to stay pure in a nonpure world, this is it right here.
The Exhibition by Malin James – 2 stars
Talk about not sending a text the right way. Cute book, sex and a?? Ha…not telling cause you got to read it.
Approaching Hardcore by Jacqueline Applebee – 2 stars
This tale is about a couple in which the wife writes down dirty fantasies. Her husband was to help but doesn’t do a good job. So, he helps with one. You would think it would be a threesome but not. It ends up being more of a FF than an FMF.
Behind the Blindfold by Rebecca Croteau – 3.5 stars
This is your BDSM book. It’s hot but not too cruelly done. It is detailed and well written. Enough to get you off? No. Plus, the ending leaves nothing to the imagination either.

Every Second of It by Lynn Townsend – 4 stars (not because of sex)
I would like to say first off, that with the couple in this book…I totally understand it. I don’t have much going on as they do. However, the different days off and working different shift does put a damper on the love life. I like that fact that this author is putting much of the “human nature” side in this book. I mean we all understand the needs of men and women when it comes to “releasing daily stress”. But this book also looks at what cancer makes women feel when they are on chemo what it makes them feel like. Even though our parented (man or woman) gives us strength, seeing the look of “it’s ok or I understand” can still put a strain on the relationship. I can say that this story is really touching that can make you understand what women go though and so worth the read. Not hot mind you but full of love and some little of heartbreak of the unknown.
A Place As Beautiful As This by A. M. Hartnett – 3 stars
What is it like to finally remember the guy that used to walk you home with his sister? Well in this book, it helps to the point of them finally having sex. They do really talking after sex as well. Not done and back on the road home. It’s a nice change. But then again, this book leaves you wanting more.
The Marionettes by SD Ryan – 1.0 star
This book is a little hard to read because it not written more towards the normal United States of writing. It wasn’t really that hot at all. They mostly talked about Marionettes.

Satisfaire by G. C. Elizabeth – 2.0 stars
This is written to bring the reader into the book. However, the author is writing as if the reader is male. The title of this story is about the French restaurant that you own and meet the woman there. We are taken to their one-month anniversary. Oh, to have an old fashion bathtub. However, this story is about masturbation between them. Of course, the ending was nice.
Con Artist by Veronica Wilde – 2.0 stars
This story is why you must be careful of dating online. But this a very cute story for the times. I understand it and get it.
The Arrangement by Kay Jaybee – 1 star
Nothing really major for this story. So, there’s a blow and some sex. Nothing more. It seemed too boring for me.
My Wife, My Sub, My Love by Victoria Blisse – 2 stars
You can pretty much guess from the title of this story what kind it will be. It’s not all bad. However, again, too short of a book. I thought it might be more; was disappointed.
Barbed Love by Tamsin Flowers – 2.0 stars
This little story is not the best by far but, it shows how to not start an affair. And it’s shows that “yes, some guys like to eat out”.
Sabine and Cael: Home by Corrine A. Silver – 2.5 stars
This starts with sex between the couple. However, they do talk about their love for each other. They are also a bit like some couples who have tried everything to have a child but can’t. They are so excited about getting twins that they start worrying. But over all, they understand that they are not perfect but that they will love their new children just as they were their own. Good news, this book is a bit steamy for vanilla sex.
Dreams Made Flesh by Lawrence Westerman – 2 stars
This is pretty much a dream for guys. Well, almost depending on the guy. Plus, I am very happy that the author put in a warning about whips into the story. For that, I thank you. The story is mostly will end up being a domme book. With no safe words. I however think for their first time, there should have been something. I guess it’s just me.
Art of Darkness by Heidi Champa – 1.5 stars
Sex in the darkroom..enough said. This book could have been hotter and gone from an f/m to someone else in there too. Too bad the author didn’t go there.
The Dance by Rachel Kramer Bussel – 2 stars
This is a story about swingers. Sex and not much more. Mostly f/f but then you get a bit m/f
Paradise by Jade A. Waters – 2.0 stars
Pretty much a military kind of book. Bit steamy but that’s it.

Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a quick read, and it delivers exactly what it advertises. It is a series of short stories, all about various sexual encounters and all very explicit. If you're looking for erotica, this is excellent because there is a wide variety of situations. No two are alike, and I found it fascinating to read about other people's fantasies and fulfillment. There were stories about sex toys or fetishes, including silk stockings and bondage. Locations varied--outdoors, in the bathtub, in a photographer's darkroom, or in a room next to a noisy party. Some couples were married, and some were single, some knew each other for years while others were just meeting for a brief encounter. In all cases, the stories were definitely hot. Some of the stories are very short, and this was a bit disappointing at times. But then again, sometimes it made sense for the encounter to be brief, hot, and dirty. If you're looking for some good clean fun and do not enjoy explicit sexual scenes, then you'll want to steer clear of this book.

My favorites included:
The Exhibition - Malin James - taking time out from a party
Con Artist - Veronica Wilde - people meeting for the first time in person after an on-line romance
The Dance - Rachel Kramer Bussel - swingers

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review.

Anthologies can often be a gamble as different authors writing a variety of perspectives on a theme varying levels of heat and even quality. I've read a lot of anthologies by Bussel and while not every story has been to my taste I'm confident in her editing and writing that the quality of writing is always high. Even if I don't enjoy a particular story, it's because it may not be to my taste rather than poor writing. The authors here put in the work to establish the relationships between characters. Like all of Bussel's other collections, she is sure to offer a wide variety to appeal to many tastes. While there are different types of relationships and kinks present in these stories, it's the passion between the characters that takes the stage. This anthology is great for someone looking for sexy stories focusing on the connections, not just the acts.
