It’s hard for me to imagine that I’ve been writing romances for over twenty years now! I started at the young age of 21, just after I got married. Reading romances, and then writing them, came about as a result of having too much time on my hands. When I first married my husband Don, I was working a regular nine to five job and he worked swing shift, from four in the afternoon until midnight. It wasn’t an ideal schedule for newlyweds, and in order to pass those hours when I was alone I started reading romances, and eventually tried my hand at writing them. The road to publication wasn’t an easy one. It took me five years and dozens of rejections to make my first sale, which was to Harlequin for their “Stolen Moments” line. THE FAMILY MAN, written under the pseudonym Danielle Kelly, was one of the twelve novellas published in 1993 for this promotional line.
It took me another two and a half years (and more rejections!) to sell my second book. HEAVEN’S GIFT (written under my own name) was published in October 1995 by Leisure Love Spell for their “An Angel’s Touch” series. Another two years passed of collecting even more rejections before I finally sold to Harlequin Romance and Harlequin Temptation. At the time, writing for both Temptation and Harlequin Romance provided me with a wonderful creative outlet for both my modern, ultra-sexy stories, and my warmer, traditional romances. But as the years passed, I realized how much I enjoyed writing the sexier stories and streamlined my career accordingly so that I was no longer writing the sweet traditional romances, and instead focused on the hotter, sexier stories for Temptation and Blaze.
After writing over two dozen books for Harlequin, I decided to branch out. I wanted to write anthologies and single titles, and came up with an idea about three sexy brothers with the last name of “Wilde”. Little did I know that those Wilde brothers would become such a sensation with readers. In the second Wilde book, WILDE THING, four Wilde cousins were introduced, and readers started writing in for their stories, too. It’s been a joy and pleasure to write each of the Wilde stories, and I want to thank everyone for purchasing those books and putting them on the USA Today Bestseller list!
I’ve been a full-time writer for years, which consists of being deep in deadlines, writing proposals (growling at the husband to fix a glitch in the computer so I can get back to work!), perusing contracts, line-edits (stressing over a scene that won’t work or characters that just won’t talk or cooperate with my plans for them!), galleys, art-fact sheets, promotion, and other publishing paperwork. Admittedly, I wouldn’t trade all the craziness in for pantyhose, rush hour traffic, and a nine-to-five job again. Writing is hard work, but I find the rewards are well worth the effort. Fan letters are one of those priceless rewards, and can keep me on a high for days! I’ve met the most wonderful people through my books, some of which I now consider good friends.
I loved everything about this 'feel good' romance. The H/H were characters you could care about and respect, and had tons of sexual chemistry. The plot, about a former Marine and now security specialist haunted by war and his past, and a smart, savvy, young businesswoman who grew up in luxury but managed not to be spoiled, was interesting and moved along at a good pace. The hero was a man who was scarred by his past, and afraid of taking a chance on love again, lest he be hurt. The heroine, although beautiful and priveleged, was no dimwit and was genuinely a nice person--the kind of girl you could imagine as being your best friend. Although the H/H came from opposite sides of the tracks, it didn't matter because they got along well and fit in with each others friends, which was nice to see. Throw in some suspense about a guy trying to harm the heroine, lots of sexy interludes between the H/H, and an ending that made me tear up, and you have one highly satisfying romance! For fans of Janelle Denison's "Wilde" series, this book is loosely related, but could certainly be read as a stand alone. If you're looking for a sexy, slightly suspenseful, easy romance with a feel good ending, then this book is for you!
I really loved this book! It had everything I love in a novel. Romance, friendship, danger, suspense and hot chemistry (sex) makes this book a keeper on my shelf.
Christine Delacroix is a sweet, fun-loving heroine. She is feisty, trustworthy, SMART and funny. When threats on her life puts her in danger. She meets danger head-on and works with the hero as a TEAM to solve who is threatening her.
Ben Cabrera is an ex-veteran of the Iraq war. Also, being an ex-marine he specializes in security and keeping people safe and secure. Being a partner of Elite Security Services he is asked to watch Christine for three weeks due to threats on her family (I don't want to give too much away) He is haunted by memories of Iraq, and although he likes Christine, fights his ever growing attraction and feelings for her.
I loved Ben and Christine! They had such great chemistry! Not only did Christine fight to break through the barriers Ben put up around his heart, she was a refreshing heroine that was easy to like and root for. I loved every moment in this book. (I needed it after the last disaster I read-see the best man..ugh!) The bonus to me with this book is...it also had some very funny moments in it too!
I plan on reading more of this author in the future. It will interesting to see if I like her other books as well.
What a sweet and sexy love story by Janelle Denison. "Wild For Him" is the story of a strong, quiet hero and a vibrant heroine coming into her own. It's full of Denison's hot and sensual love scenes with the added bonus of a great HEA. Who could pass that up?
Christy is the daughter of a politician running for governor. Her father is receiving threats against her and decides to hire his favorite security guard, Ben. Christy has had the hots for Ben for quite a while now, and with the recent dissolution of her engagement she doesn't see any reason the two of them can't combine a little pleasure with their business. But she'll have to break through Ben's painful past and scarring war experiences to get what she really wants...his heart.
I could feel the heat coming off the pages. The tension between these two was electric. Ben's sense of honor combined with his bad boy traits equals a hero we'd all love to have. And Christy was almost too nice, but as the daughter of a politician, I can see the where and whys of her reactions to some situations. Just an all around enjoyable read.
Ben Cabrera, a security expert through ESS has been brought in by Nathan Delacroix, who is running for Governor of Chicago (yes, you read that right...governor...of the city of Chicago...) State and local government titles aside, Nathan has been threatened and has brought Ben in to protect his daughter, Christy. The sparks fly between them and Ben instantly questions whether he'll be able to maintain his professional distance. Of course, once Christy realizes that Ben is the answer to her sexual doldrums and poor past experiences, and she sets him as her goal, Ben has no chance. He'll have to balance his desire for her and their night-time escapades with the very real task of keeping her alive.
There were a few errors in this one...the governorship being one and the change in the name of Christy's business is another...in the beginning of the book it was "The Big Event" and at the end of the book it was "The Main Event." I feel like that sort of stuff shouldn't happen in a well-edited book, but it's only a minor annoyance. Christy got on my nerves way more than those little errors. I always have a negative reaction to any character that pushes a sexual relationship with another person when that person (despite what their hormones seem to say) isn't 100% willing. In this case, Ben wanted to keep his distance, to maintain his professionalism and to avoid a relationship with Christy. But she refused to listen and employed any tactic she could so that he would show her what sexual pleasure felt like...at one point she even seems to use pity as she laments how she's never experienced oral sex and wouldn't he be willing to show her? It came across as selfish really and it isntantly turned me off of her. That's not to say that they don't have some spectacularly sexy times together and that Ben doesn't eventually get all on board, but it made me like her just a little less. And it also meant that I didn't particularly feel bad for her when she found herself in love with an emotionally unavailable guy...Hmm.
In the end, this book was kinda lackluster for me. There wasn't much going on in the suspense plot and really, given the clear threats against her, I feel like people should have been taking this stuff way more seriously. I don't know how Ben became a bodyguard, but given how many hairy situations Christy ends up in, he's not very good. There are better books in this series, but this is an okay read.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Thought this romantic suspense had a lot of potential, but it fell short of captivating my interest. The characters were both neat individuals that grew nicely as the story developed. Both were very likable. But, there was very little suspense in this book though it has the bodyguard theme. At one point, I just wished SOMETHING would happen that would hook me to the book. As it was, I could have easily put this one down and not thought another minute about the characters or the plot.
Glad I finished it, because it turned into an okay read. This is the first book I read by this author and I understand from other GR friends that this is part of the Wilde series. I noticed, in reading, that Joel Wilde's wedding to Lora Marshall and a brief mention of Mia Wilde are in this book.
Overall, this was a little slow for my romantic suspense taste and when things finally did happen it was kinda silly and nothing special--except the very end. Occasionally, felt the author spent too much time on mundane information and boring dialogue.
The sexual tension between the H/H was very nicely done, though, and there are quite a few steamy scenes.
A good romance with plenty of heat and chemistry between the characters. Christine is the daughter of a political candidate and Ben is hired to be her bodyguard - despite the differences in their backgrounds, they really hit it off and the sparks fly between them. It is a good read with a lot to keep you interested. One complaint - and it is minor - is that this author really needs to do her research better. Towards the end, the characters were speaking about how Christine's father lost the office of governor of Chicago. What?!? Chicago is a city, not a state. So did he lose the governor of ILLINOIS or the mayor of CHICAGO?? Gee, this is not hard - do a little fact checking. Otherwise, there were few typos or grammatical errors. I will probably be looking for other novels in this series.
THIS WAS ANOTHER BOOK IN THE WILDE SERIES. GREAT STORYLINE,HOT LOVE SCENES (REALLY, REALLY H.O.T.), I ENJOYED THIS. THIS IS BEN & CHRISTY'S STORY NEITHER HAPPEN TO BE RELATED TO THE WILDE FAMILY BUT BEN WAS IN THE MARINES WITH JOEL WILDE. THEY NOW WORK TOGEHER IN THE SECURITY AGENCY, SINCE LEAVING TH SERVICE. AS WITH THE OTHER BOOKS IT SHOWCASES THE EFFECTS OF CHILD ABUSE AND THE DEVESTATION WAR HAS ON THE HUMAN MIND & SPIRIT. A VERY HEART WARMING SERIES, WELL WRITTEN, LIKE ALL OF THE SERIES I HAVE READ. WHEN I FINISHED EACH BOOK THEY LEFT ME WITH A VERY NICE FEELING, SATISFIED LIKE A WARM HUG.
Ben and Christine have been mildly flirting from afar for several months and now he's been assigned as her bodyguard because her father has been receiving threats. Quit his campaign or lose something precious to him. So Ben will be her live in bodyguard for 3 weeks until the election is over. Christie is determined to have him become something more and proposes a 3 week affair. Ben is determined to remain professional and not cross a line but she's not making it easy on him. Christie's life is chaos. Her ex fiance has become a raging drunken menace who threatensand stalks her. She has an older business associate who wants much more than than a business relationship. Another event planner is angry because Christie is taking business is taking business from her
Ben feels he is good enough for Christie. She grew up with privilege. He grew up as a coal miners son and his mother walked out of his life when he was 10. Add to that, he blames himself for his fiancee's death in Iraq. He will never love again. Or so he thinks! Christie sets out to change his mind.
I know I read it out of order, but ill be reading more of this series. I loved it.
Ben is carrying baggage that makes him believe he can never love again.
Christy believes, after she breaks off her engagement, that her fiance cheated on her because she is frigid and incapable of feeling any kind of emotion.
Her father has been getting threatening letters that implicate Christy will be harmed if he doesn't back out of his political campaign.
Ben gets the job of protecting Christy. But they have a sexual tension going on that in the end neither of them can deny, but desperately try to.
A business associate is getting a little too friendly with Christy, so she asks Ben to be her pretend boyfriend. Only until the end of the election. He says yes.
That's when sparks really fly, in the bedroom.
But when their hearts get involved, can Ben really walk away when their time is up. And is Christie prepared to let him?
Wilde for Him is the 5th book in the Wilde Series. These books have related characters, but can be read as a stand-alone book.
Christy is a smart, fun heroine who is starting her own catering and party planning business. She is also the only child of a gubernatorial candidate. Her life has been threatened to get her Dad to drop out of the political race.
Ben has been on the security detail for the Delacroix family in the past. He knows Christy recently broke off her engagement because her ex was cheating. Jason isn't taking her leaving or the closer look that made her Dad realize he was embezzling campaign funds well. Now he has a vendetta against Christy and her Dad.well
Ben poses as Christy's boyfriend to stay close for security. But real life starts creeping into their fake relationship. Then they start an affair to last the length of his security. Neither is ready to let it go at the end, but can they make it keep working or are they just too different?
The author writes an excellent story that would have gotten a 5-star review, except for the liberal sprinkling of errors. Is the heroine's father governor of Illinois or mayor of Chicago? The author needs to figure out that a state governor and city mayor differ. Then we have the typos, e.g., "course" instead of "coarse" and the like. Near the end, the heroine's nickname suddenly changes spelling. The author does herself a disservice by not using a competent editor.
I,v read other books with similar storey lines, but this one just out there on it,s own!, all the way through kept you hooked in and captivated but not sure if Ben and Christie were going to make it to their happy ending, the erotic bits were gorgeous, with Ben showing Christie what it should be like!! oh!, I just didn't want it to end, well done to the writers!
This installment in the Wilde Series is steamy, suspenseful, and romantic. I like the edge of danger and the engaging way that the author keeps the plot moving with unexpected twists. She deals wonderfully with the effects of living in the civilian world after being active military. Characters.are well developed and true to.form.
Janelle & Erika have created a great Wilde series and Ben's story adds another addictive creative feast for readers to enjoy. I love the strong alpha males with good hearts, the strong female counterparts who make the men love with heat & passion. You get everything you need.
This was a better story than I anticipated! I quite enjoyed the chemistry between Ben and Christy. The author's writing style was easy to read and had a nice flow to it. They mystery part of the storyline was pretty easily figured out. But, I still enjoyed it as an easy read.
I loved this entire series. A bit disappointed that the new series she discusses at the end of the book has yet to be written. I was looking forward to it.
This was another fun, easy read despite a couple of weak moments for the hero. I found it more sensual than some erotic romances I've read and while I was slow to take to the Wilde books, they kinda grew on me. (I enjoyed Scott Wilde's romance with Ashley St Claire in The Wilde Side which I read just before Wild For Him.) Yes, I read all the Wilde books out of order but Denison was a new author for me so I didn't have a clue what her books were like or that it was a series.
Wild For Him is not about a Wilde member, though. It's a spinoff series featuring the security specialist team from Joel's company. I will be waiting for the next book but I have to add that I hope Ms Denison pays more attention to the heroes' profession. It's a serious profession and bodyguards still need to have their wits about them even if they're in a fictional romance and even if the reader (me!) am reading it for the romance and can't wait to get nekkid with said bodyguard. But it's a small lapse and, hopefully, other readers can forgive him cos he's sweet and yummy.

Bought the first book and wanted to read the next two so I bought the boxed set. These are typical romance with hot sex and a HEA. All the males are Alpha and have to protect a woman who in turn, turns out to be that very special woman for them Soppy lovely low angst read for a snowy day.
