Dogfessions

Rate this book
You're shamelessly in love with your dog. And his adoration for you would eclipse the moon. But is love all there is to your relationship? When you come home to find the trash can toppled and a few "surprises" on your rug, what then? Behind your best friend's doting gaze, ever wonder what's he's really thinking? Here's your chance to find out. Based on the website www.dogfessions.com, this full color collection contains hundreds of handmade postcards that reveal the deepest confessions from dogs and their owners. From unabashed admissions ("Yes, I made that puddle 5 minutes ago") to thoughtful revelations ("I think I kiss the dogs more than I kiss my husband") to self-affirmations ("I do this deliberately to look cute"), you'll steal a glimpse into the lives of dogs and their dearest devotees. Brought to life with photographs, illustrations, and collages, each Dogfession is uniquely hilarious, bittersweet, oddly random, heartfelt, or outrageously silly. All together, they are addictively compelling and compulsively readable. But don't say we didn't warn If you have a soft spot for dogs and secrets, you'll sit, stay, and roll over for this irresistible book!

Although not a die-hard dog lover, I've been around enough dogs in my life to appreciate their finer (and not-so-fine) attributes. Ms. Moustaki has done an excellent job of putting together a book that captures the true insights and feelings of both our canine companions and their owners.

Think of DOGFESSIONS as POSTSECRET for dogs. Just as POSTSECRET came about as the result of thousands of postcards mailed anonymously to a website, DOGFESSIONS happened the same way. Based on the website readers sent in postcards filled with photographs, illustrations, headlines, and confessions centering around man's best friend.

Some "dogfessions" are laugh-out-loud funny, such as the poor dog dressed up in a Halloween costume with the caption: "They told me dressing up would be fun. It was a web of lies." Some are heartbreakingly sad, while others manage to be both sad and uplifting: "Somebody dropped him off to be euthanized. He was just 6 months old. We've had him for 10 years now. They don't know he is still alive...I hope they still feel guilty." Others, however, are a little disturbing: "When no one's watching...I eat poo," and "I think I kiss the dogs more than I kiss my husband."

Overall, though, DOGFESSIONS is a book sure to delight the humans who care for these wonderful animals. The fact that a portion of the proceeds from sales of the book are benefiting two charities, Petfinder Foundation and the Sabbath Memorial Dog Rescue Center, is a nice added bonus.

Loved this book. Why not, it is pictures of dogs being dogs. I have not met many dogs I didn't like. This is a great book of secret confessions of dogs. LIke: One dog said "I steal out of the bins at pet stores." I've had that experience. Suzy's dog Princess loved to beg the girls at Feeders Supply for pig ears. This is a picture books about all the things dogs secretly do. It is very funny and very poignant.

Obviously, I am a dog lover so this book was just a natural for me. This is the Post Secret for dogs and was a very cute read. It is directed at younger readers, but it is really a coffee table book. Best of all, dachshunds are well represented here. The pictures are priceless and the tags given to the photos are written either by the dogs themselves or the owner. This would make an excellent gift for the dog lover in your life.

A lovely dog book to give you a giggle or two. Have know a few dogs, like these, especially Karlie the Wonder dog who can leap up on the counters and tables and be caught and still give you that Who Me? look.
I highly recommend this book for a laugh or two and atleast a snort.

If you like Post secret, you will like this book. Basically that is what it is, a confessional post secret for dogs and owners. It is a great book, and I can understand and relate to some of the postcards.

Just downright adorable. The website is a total mess, though. Stick with the book.
