For months, Aubree has been obsessed with two men—best friends, Max and Ryan. She’s resigned herself to having her desires be nothing more than a late night fantasy. When the pair invites her to a weekend party hosted by a famous MMA champion, Drew Alexander, she accepts without a qualm. She never expects the two men plan to make her secret longings into reality. Unfortunately, that’s only half their agenda. When Aubree learns the men’s true intentions, she turns to Drew for help.

Drew is unlike anyone she’s ever met. He’s fun and playful. Dark and brooding. He’s everything she’s been searching for rolled up in a delicious package. Unfortunately, Max and Ryan aren’t finished with her yet. Aubree has to choose—does she cling to the friendship she’s had with Max and Ryan, or risk everything on one man who could make all her dreams come true?

Like menage? How about a little m/m action? What about a possessive alpha male that doesn't want to share? Well, I don't know how the hell Charity Parkerson did it, but the extremely talented author was able to cram all of these elements and more in UNSURPASSED , the first book in her new No Rival series which is only 85 pages. (my kindle actually says 79, but who's counting? :) I'll be honest, I usually steer clear of novellas (anything under 100 pages), mainly because more often than not they leave something to be desired. Most of the time shorter novels suffer from lack of character development, rushed plots, which in turn causes the actual love story to feel implausible. But something drew me to UNSURPASSED . Maybe it was the careful wording of the synopsis that had me intrigued. There was just something about the book blurb that hinted this story was somehow going to be different from the rest. Oh, how I love to be right! This review may be a little shorter than some of my others mainly because I want to avoid spoilers. Part of the appeal of UNSURPASSED is the twists (and there are quite a few!) so I will try my hardest to stay away from any major plot points.

Here is what I liked. UNSURPASSED starts off like any other typical menage story.  Ryan and Max, co-owners of a gym, seem to have one thing on their mind-- to finally possess their friend Aubree, the sexy blonde that walked into their establishment months ago. At the time, Aubree was looking forward to trying out a kickboxing class their gym offered, never expecting to gain Ryan and Max's friendship along the way. While she savors their closeness, she can't help but yearn for more...and working out at their gym is sending her hormones into overdrive. Who wouldn't get all hot and bothered watching two sexy alpha males pump iron? However, being equally attracted to two men at the same time is foreign to Aubree and fears their rejection if they should find out about her dirty little fantasy.  After all, how can she choose just one? There is Ryan, the kind of guy who always has a smile on his face and a good sense of humor. Then there is Max, the brooding silent type. Best of both worlds, right? It's not until they show up at her apartment for dinner when she starts to realize that maybe the attraction she feels isn't so one-sided. Could they BOTH want her? When she agrees to go with them to a weekend party/charity event hosted by famous MMA champion Drew Alexander, Aubree never expects her wildest dreams to come true...and then shattered.

Up until the party, the plot was going in the direction I had expected. Ryan and Max are a pair of hot alphas that compliment each other and fit into the typical mold of the kind of men I expect in a menage story. Usually one is the easy going guy, the other is the more serious one. But then something unexpected happens. Once Drew Alexander enters the picture, all of my preconceived notions went right out the window. At first I was on guard, just like Aubree was. Drew is the kind of man that can melt the panties off of any woman with his looks alone. Then he opens his wicked, sexy mouth and automatically you get the sense that this is a man that is a player and is used to getting whatever he wants, whenever he wants with little effort. Aubree thinks she knows Drew's "type" and has him neatly put into a box. But she can't deny his outrageous sense of humor and provocative banter and is surprised how much she enjoys the harmless flirting. Here are a couple of my favorites:

"Just think," he said, allowing a bit of devilry to show. "If you hadn't shown up this weekend, you wouldn't have met me. That would've been a real shame for you."

Aubree narrowed her eyes, but her grin gave her away. She was ready to play along. "How do you figure?"

"You would've missed your chance to seduce me, and although I'm not easy, I'm totally worth every moment...You'd better get started." He made a show of looking at his watch. "I don't know what time you usually go to bed, but I've only got a few hours left in me. Wine me, dine me," he paused and smiled roguishly. "Well, you know the rest."

_____

The look on her face was priceless. It was a mixture of flattered and exasperated. She raised her hands and dropped them back to her sides as if she had no idea what she should say. "You make me want to scream."

He nodded his understanding. "Don't worry. You will. I can hear my name on your lips and reverberating off these walls already."

Again, I was really worried that Drew was trying to take advantage of Aubree, but once his true nature is revealed and her involvement in bringing out this different side of him, I was a goner just like her. You think Ryan and Max are alphas? Well you haven't met Drew yet :)

"I'm fighting my nature here as we speak. I want to throw you over my shoulder and steal you away from this place. I want to hide you away while I show you every pleasure your body is capable of enduring. I don't intend to let you come up for air until I've touched, tasted, explored, and penetrated until you've accepted you are mine."

Ryan and Max...playboy Drew...a shocking betrayal...who will Aubree end up with? Usually, it doesn't take rocket science to answer this kind of question in romances like this. It's always quite apparent. But by the time I got to the end of UNSURPASSED , I realized this story doesn't follow the typical formula. Parkerson kept throwing in twist after twist that constantly left me asking "what if". I so wish I could get more into detail, but I will have to leave it at that!

For those wondering about the sex scenes...SCORCHING hot and perfectly paced. The scenes weren't so overpowering that it felt like it took away from the story. Nor did they feel contrived. They were well written and satisfying yet at the same time leaving you wanting more more MORE.

So why only a 4.5 rating instead of the full 5 stars? Sometimes I annoy myself with my attention for detail. After reading the story in one sitting, I noticed some questions I had jotted down along the way. These are very minor things, but I have to wonder if the story had been a tad bit longer, if these questions would have been absolved.  Why did Aubree want to join the kickboxing class at Ryan and Max's gym? Was it just for fun or did she have a life threatening experience that caused her to want to take it as a form of self defense? The obvious answer is wouldn't she have just taken an actual self defense class if that were the case? I'm probably over-thinking it. That leads me to question number two: why does Aubree seem to have a low self esteem? Yes, as women, we are constantly criticizing ourselves. But there are quite a few times in the story where she doubts her appeal, first with Ryan and Max, then later with Drew. So I was just curious if this self esteem issue stems from previous bad relationships. Lastly, in the synopsis, it states that Max and Ryan are ex-marines yet I don't remember this being mentioned once in the story. Maybe I am wrong or my eyes were moving faster than my brain, but I wonder how this connects to the story.

UNSURPASSED is a refreshingly well written erotic romance that packs a lot of punch. Charity Parkerson is at the top of her game and it is no wonder that she is a multiple award winning author. To be able to add in the erotic elements on top of well developed characters AND unexpected twists to keep you guessing til the very end all within an 85 page novella is no easy feat. I wait with bated breath for UNDAUNTED , book 2 in the No Rival series.

This one fell kinda flat for me. It started off with promise, but then things totally switched gears and it seemed like whole parts of the story were skipped. And how everything tied up so nicely with a bow... seemed to just happen too quickly.

“What the hell. You only live once.”

Aubree has been attracted to MMA fighters Max and Ryan for quite some time, maybe ever since she met them through her kick-box lessons. But they never gave a hint of feeling remotely the same about her and the three of them became friends instead. So she's surprised when they suddenly invite her to a charity event, hosted by Drew, that lasts the whole weekend.

Even though she's exited to spend time with the duo she isn't really looking forward to the event, but that changes when they introduce Aubree to Drew, another MMA fighter. The duo leaves an opening for Drew to sweep her away...which Drew grabs. Aubree end up spending most of her time in his company and this allows her to reconnect with some people she knew before her dad's passing. During their time together she really gets to know him, he's open to her and she's open to him and she finds out that Drew is a great host, a great friend and a great support when Max and Ryan unexpectedly betray her.

Now Drew has the chance to get even closer to Aubree...and Max and Ryan...well they have to work hard to get back into Aubree's graces again, if they ever will get back there.

I really liked this story, it's fast paced and due to the length of the book that isn't too surprising. Thought it may be short, it has multiple elements in it, steam, drama and humor. Also the characters are quite interesting. You have the men who are all alpha material, Drew more so than Max and Ryan. And an already insecure woman who has to overcome a betrayal that rocks her foundation.

Luckily Drew is there to help build a stronger foundation. This man, despite his appearance and profession, is one big teddy bear. He's funny, gentle, protective and overwhelming man with innuendos on standby.

“I can’t promise to behave, but as I said, I am worth it. Not to mention, I’m so good when I’m being bad.”

He doesn't really have a positive track record relationship-wise but you aren't able to tell from the way he is with Aubree. And I love that he's a man that puts his words into action.

With Drew's help Aubree puts herself back together but her low self esteem and insecurity are still present. I'm not sure where the low self esteem originates from but the whole thing with Max and Ryan doesn't help matters either. I respect how well she dealt with them and herself through out it all, though.

Max and Ryan....Max is the quiet jerk and Ryan is the soothing jerk who is also called the “body whisperer”. I'm not even going to explain that one. They're both players but not in the usual sense of the word. Okay that maybe too. They're jerks because they planned their whole betrayal, though their planning is a little far fetched. A lot of things could have gone wrong as you can't base your plans on people's feelings, you can't control them. And considering their need to control everything so their plan would work....That just wasn't smart thinking at all.

And when they don't get the exact results they hoped for they, especially Max isn't too happy about it and loses control over himself.

“I will say this though, you need to watch out for that one. His head isn’t in a good place and if his personality matches his dad’s as much as his face does, then he’s crazy.”

There are some twists here and there, the twists that impacted the duo Max and Ryan passed me by....really I was just done with those two. They may be hot but no, I can't forgive you for what you did.

Usually in books everything is a okay in the end. Here that's not the case and I liked that very much. I just read Ms. Parkerson's bio and it says that she puts her own quirk into her characters and I definitely noticed that with Drew and Aubree. I'll be looking forward to the next book in the “No Rival” series, it's called “Undaunted” and the cover for that book is just drool worthy.

I enjoyed the book! A quick read… Max and Ryan invite Aubree to a party where she meets Drew. Things go south quickly when Drew finds Max in his hotel room. Aubree must decide where to go from here as words were said that can never be taken back.

Spice picks up quick… action just as quick!

This Book Pimp is giving Unsurpassed by Charity Parkerson 5 Fuck Hawt Stars!

Don’t let the erotica genre fool you into thinking this is just sex, sex, sex. There is so much more! The author had me running the gauntlet of feelings in this naughty short…I cried, smiled, laughed, and fanned myself. In one word, WOWZA!

Aubree has been friends with Max and Ryan since they met in kick boxing lessons. She’s had a fantasy of having a three-way with them, but instead of acting on her fantasy, she is content with them just being friends. An opportunity to attend a black tie affair has her spending a weekend with these men, and they are hungry for more than just her friendship. What started out as a wicked fantasy becomes reality…one Aubree will never forget. “The echo of her name and the sweat slipping between them were memories she gathered closer to her chest. She hoped by the end of the weekend, she would have a thousand of those minute details to carry home with her, because she knew this couldn’t last.”

Drew is a champion MMA fighter and has hosted this charity event for years. One look at Aubree, and he knows she is his person…his soulmate….he just has to convince her of their bond. “I’m fighting my nature here as we speak. I want to throw you over my shoulder and steal you away from this place. I want to hide you away while I show you every pleasure your body is capable of enduring. I don’t intend to let you come up for air until I’ve touched, tasted, explored and penetrated until you’ve accepted you are mine.”

As secrets come out and betrayal runs rampant, Aubree must look within herself and come to terms with either having the fantasy she thought she always wanted or reaching towards having the love of a lifetime.

Charity Parkerson has a way of making her stories come alive! I never want them to end! Can never pimp her out enough! Highly recommend!!

My Thoughts on Unsurpassed

Really enjoyable story by a new to me author. The book ended up being a little different, but in a good way, then what I expected. I loved Drew from the first meeting, and I loved the way every thing turned out minus the little bit of crazy shown by one of the characters.

Unsurpassed didn't blow me away like Undaunted and Unequaled did. (Yes, I read those two books first) I was disappointed, though I did enjoy Aubree and Drew's story.

description

It would have been nice to see how Drew is pre-Aubree. That way we could really see for ourselves how different Drew is when he is around Aubree. I kept reading about how much Aubree has "changed" Drew ever since she came into his life, yet I have nothing to compare it to. I would also loved to have seen more M/M action as the little twist at the end about Max and Ryan didn't really impact me much but that is just me :3

That aside, Aubree and Drew are adorable together! I love how big badass alpha male Drew just chatters nonstop around Aubree and his charming, boy-ish personality that just makes you fall for him. Despite being alpha-ness, he is unbelievably sweet and gentle to Aubree. I like that Aubree is feisty and clumsy! Makes her more adorable.

"If you hadn't shown up this weekend, you wouldn't have met me. That would've been a real shame for you."

Aubree narrowed her eyes, but her grin gave her away. She was ready to play along. "How do you figure?"

description

"You would've missed your chance to seduce me, and although I'm not easy, I'm totally worth every moment."

Her teeth sank into her bottom lip. Drew could see her fighting back her laughter even as her eyes danced with it. He wasn't content to let it stand there. "You'd better get started." He made a show of looking at his watch. "I don't know what time you usually go to bed, but I've only got a few hours left in me. Wine me, dine me," he paused and smiled roguishly. "Well, you know the rest."

Unsurpassed is short, only 85 pages long. I feel that there's just so much more space for development. More backstory about the characters, more dialogues, more scenes, more depth. I needed more because I still don't know much about Drew, Aubree, Max and Ryan.

OVERALL THOUGH, Unsurpassed is one hot, yummy read that I enjoyed!

I loved the concept behind this story. Two male MMA fighters, one single female, oh and look at that, a third MMA fighter has joined the story! A steamy threesome leads to betrayal, drama, new love and an eye-opening realization between two best friend. The potential for awesome was there, the steam factor was great and I really loooooved Drew Alexander but with only 85 pages I felt as if the book never got the chance to fully build up momentum.

Ryan and Max are co-owners of a gym, their friend Aubree has had a secret crush on both of them for some time now. With wicked thoughts running through her mind whenever they are together she is surprised when they ask her to join them at a weekend charity event hosted by famous MMA champion Drew Alexander. Aubree agrees without hesitation and once the threesome makes it to the hotel, sparks fly and the three friends share more than just a room. Turns out however that Ryan and Max haven't really been up front with Aubree, ulterior motives were in play and now Aubree is left feeling used.....

Drew to the rescue!! This is the part of the story that I really enjoyed. Drew is a big badass alpha MMA fighter. He was drawn to Aubree at first sight and knew right away that he wanted her. The great part though was that along with his aggressive alphaness he was also gentle and kind to Aubree. They form a friendship first and were adorable together. I just wish I could have had a little bit more from all of the characters. I needed more back story, more dialogue and more depth. I wish the conflict between Max and Drew had been explained further and while the little twist at the end with Ryan and Max was meant to surprise the reader, it didn't have the impact on me that I think was intended. It would have been more substantial and meant more to me if I had gotten to know the characters better. Overall however, Unsurpassed was a well written quick and sexy read that I enjoyed.

Aubree is a Nurse and is best friends with Max and Ryan who are both Ex-Marines. She meets them through signing up for kickboxing lessons as they are both MMA fighters. She trusts these boys, she WANTS these boys and fantasizes about them often, but how can she choose just one? If only they knew how bad she wanted them. It isn’t until they ask her to attend a charity event for the weekend until she actually sees how they want her and what their plans are for her while she is there.

At the Charity event, she meets Drew. Drew is sexy, commanding and of course a fighter. He is instantly drawn to Aubree at first sight and has plans for her.

“You can keep fighting and I will keep chasing you, but in the end, the same. It will be my name you’re moaning”

He is certainly a ladies man of course, but with Aubree its real. His attraction to her is different than all the other women. As she is betrayed by her two best friends, Drew is there to pick up the pieces and will stop at nothing until he makes her his.

“You’re unlike any woman I’ve ever met before”

While the book had hot moments and some good story line I would’ve liked to see the characters developed a little more and the story to flow a little better as it was jumping all over the place. The betrayal aspect of the story was a little unbelievable and more dialog was needed between Max and Ryan before hand, atleast to the reason they were doing what they did and what got them to that point. I felt a majority of the book was rushed and incomplete

This book was still a good read and I give it a 3 star rating. If the author had spent a little more time giving insight on the what and why’s and the characters were more developed I would’ve rated it higher.

Hm, well. This was interesting. Different from what I was expecting and it could have been great – had it been given more pages. Especially everything stuffed into the last chapter, which was a surprise to me, yet not. There was so much potential there, which just was not used.

This one is partly about fulfilling its heroine’s filthy fantasies and partly finding your partner for life. It was a whirlwind of events and happened much too quickly – immediate gratification style. It all moved too fast without ever getting the feeling to really know the characters. Who is Aubree? Who is Drew? And, sorry, but Max is a grade-A jerk. I cannot find anything positive about that man…

The writing style was okay, although I got confused a few times in whose head I was in at that time. Maybe there were paragraphs in the written version, but neither a chance in voice – the narrative always stayed the same no matter of male or female POV – nor did a short pause indicate a switch in perspective in the audio book. That aside, I really enjoyed the narration by Jem Matzan.

Poorly Written Romance

This was an awful book. Juvenile dialog, lame situations and forced conflict. It reads like teenager "wrote" this. Even the sex scenes are awful. The much anticipated menage was over before it barely got started and the second time was a fade to black. I listened to this on audio. Skip this, not worth your funds or time.

I won this book in a Facebook event. Mostly good. The story was good and well thought out. The sexy times were ok, however, they felt like they were incomplete and missing something. If you skip over the sex parts, it just creates a better, shorter story, enjoy!

The description of this book left out a very weird menage scene to open the book and an unnecessary gay scene to end it. None of the characters were likable, in fact, they all were pretty slimy. Not my kind of book and just left me feeling icky.

I want to start by saying that while I enjoyed the book, I feel like the author tried to put too much into the story and it actually took away from how good the book could have been. To me, it appears that in an effort to appeal to a wider audience, Ms. Parkerson included sexual elements that actually interfered with the story. If you've read my reviews, you know I love ménages, with MFM being my preferred. That said, the ménage scenes were underwhelming and really didn't add to the book. They felt rushed and I found the one-on-one foreplay interactions between Aubree and Ryan and Aubree and Max far more stimulating than their actual sex scenes. I feel the inclusion of the scene at the end between Ryan and Max falls into the same category - being included to simply to appeal to a wider reading audience. Unless the sequel is about Max and Ryan exploring this new facet of their relationship, this scene, too, was unnecessary to the storyline and didn't live up to the level of hotness the "Inside Scoop" warning promised. While these elements of the story didn't work for me that does not mean that I didn't enjoy the book.

The relationship between Drew and Aubree is great. As a successful championship MMA fighter, Drew can have his pick of women ... that is, women who want something from him, whether it be his money, his fame, or his body. Having grown up around the fight world, Aubree recognizes Drew for the player he is and effortlessly deflects his advances. Of course this means that Drew must have her, but not in the typical "I'm a famous alpha male and I get what I want" mentality, but rather a "this is a woman who wants nothing from me so I have to get to know her better" mindset. As Drew knows who Aubree's father was, he knows that she knows who and what he is and finds her lack of exploiting interest refreshing. As an added benefit, Drew finds Aubree beautiful and fun to be around, so he decides that she will be his. It is this relationship that makes the book. The interactions between Drew and Aubree are real and their banter is entertaining because they are comfortable with one another and feel free to be themselves. This level of trust is even more obvious when they're intimate and it makes for some really hot sex scenes (the intensity of which is why I found the ménage and M/M scenes lacking).

Unsurpassed is an enjoyable read and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quick read with a sexy alpha fighter. However, if you're looking for a book with hot MFM ménage scenes or steamy M/M scenes, you may be disappointed. Based upon this book, I would say that Ms. Parkerson's talent lies in writing MF sex scenes and romances because she writes them VERY well. I'm looking forward to the next book in her No Rival series.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, The opening scenes are VERY hot, so be prepared. I was really drawn into Aubree’s world quickly and wanted to learn more about these two men, Max and Ryan. Although once Drew hit the scene I could tell it was all over for them, and that Drew was winning her heart. He had to work at it, and I’m glad that he did. I appreciated that, while this is an erotic romance, Drew made the effort to seduce Aubree with dates and banter.

I felt Aubree’s hurt at being betrayed and how she was drawn to Drew who made her laugh. The tug at her heart at losing her two best friends would have stung deep and being a strong person, she managed to work through it. Although the drama they caused her in private had Drew fuming when he found out.

Charity’s writing style is easy and a pleasure to read. The characters start to jump off the page and take on a life of their own. However, I would have liked a little more of the interactions with Max and Ryan which where discussed but not written about. The story line for why Max and Ryan had betrayed Aubree’s trust could have been a lot more believable if it was fleshed out a little more. I wanted to understand the turmoil that they were going through a little more. It wasn’t until right at the end I found out a bit more about the two men and their own hidden desires and demons, but I’m still not sure why they are ex-marines and where this fits in.

If those questions had been answered this would have been a 5 star rating, but it’s still a great read. I thoroughly enjoyed the mix of mix of erotic and emotional scenes.

Unsurpassed would be perfect for those that love realistic and very hot sex with their romance — just as I do, mixed with an engaging storyline. I learnt a few things about MMA that I didn’t know before.Unsurpassed

I really enjoyed this book! Although I wish it were a bit longer. Not once did I put this book down and I can’t wait for the next book. I thought Aubree and Drew were the perfect match, I will admit that I wanted to punch Ryan and Max (mainly Max) for the way he treated Aubree. I got a few chapters into this story and was having strong feelings of déjà vu. The storyline was nearly the same as another book I had read two years ago – it wasn’t until I looked on goodreads that I realised this is the same book but a different cover. A re release? I love the cover for this book. I will definitely be re reading this book for a third time.

Aubree has been attracted to her friends, Max and Ryan for a good while but they haven’t shown her anything to say that feelings are mutual. When they both ask her to attend a three-day party with them she agrees even though Christmas brings bad memories for her – her parents died on Christmas day. All is going well at the party and Aubree meets a handsome MMA fighter called Drew. Both are equally drawn to one another but when she gets back to her hotel suite, Max and Ryan let on that they want her. After a wicked night of passion, Aubree thinks she is getting everything she wanted but after meeting up with Drew and nipping up to his room, both Drew and Aubree get the shock of their lives. When Aubree learns the truth about her so called friends using her to distract Drew, what will she do? Will she be able to forgive her friends? Will Drew get his woman?

Steamy hot from start to panty-busting finish!
Unsurpassed is a tale of one woman and the three men in her life. Aubree grew up in the world of professional fighting. Her closest friends Max and Ryan themselves are professional fighters. Aubree has seen then sweat soaked bodies many times but always resisted the incredible temptation to go take it any further. Even though she yearned to feel their hard bodies next to hers, she would never risk losing their friendship. Then she is invited to attend a holiday charity party with them. Unfortunately she discovered their plan was to use her and not just for sex. Enter the incredibly stunning Drew Alexander, another MMA heavy weight. With his sultry grey eyes and golden skin, he oozes sex appeal whether in the ring or dressed to the nines for a charity event. His mere appearance in a room has every woman swooning for him, willing to do anything to be with him. But he has his sights set on Aubree. Parkerson sets up for a brilliant 3-way alpha-male battle for one woman. There are several intriguing sub-plots which add to the complexity of the story-line, making it much more than simply a ménage-a-trois, dom/sub or m/m story. Unsurpassed is flawlessly written. It will catch your breath from start to panty-busting finish. I am looking forward to reading more from Parkerson!

Complimentary copy provided by author/publisher for an honest review

I wasn't expecting so much from a novella. And what do I mean by that? I mean you get a whole story, character development, drama and plenty of STEAM!! I was pleasantly surprised; kudos to you Charity Parkerson.

Max and Ryan are two VERY hot men who each have their own characteristics that you will find attractive. One is stern, quiet and just screams dominance, while the other is softer, playful and have a smile that will make your panties melt off. Aubree desires them and she desires them completely surrounding her all at once, between them. So when the opportunity presents itself Aubree is more than willing to submit to these two hot, muscled, alpha males pleasure.

There is a complication that comes when you sleep with two of your friends at once and now feel a deeper connection to both, but could such a triangle relationship work? Aubree didn't know if it was possible but betrayal isn't too far away and she is pushed into the arms of Drew who is on his own level of SEXINESS *wink*!!

Between the drama, the steamy scenes and the twists you will hooked and definitely file Unsurpassed into the "books you will love to reread" category.

5 *WINK* READ
