After a devastating breakup in the middle of her summer vacation, Summer Peters knows she needs something to distract her. What better than the arrival of fall, Halloween, and a new client? Though she assumes that Alexander Williams will be a hands-off client, she is surprised to find him very down-to-earth. She’s immediately drawn to him, much to the dismay of his overprotective assistant. When it becomes obvious that he feels the same, she begins to wonder if their meeting was meant to be.
Just when she thinks she could be ready to move on with her life, her ex-boyfriend Jake returns for a second chance. She’s in for even more of a surprise when she learns her nosy, meddling neighbor is actually a psychic pushing to reveal details of her future.
Summer doesn’t know which way to turn as she feels like she’s being pulled in different directions. Between Alexander, his assistant, and her ex-boyfriend, she fears she may not be ready to move on after all. She considers turning to her neighbor for advice but the fear of knowing exactly what the future holds is more frightening than not knowing.

Fall Into Magic is book one in the Seasons of Summer by Melissa Baldwin. It's a quick short read.
I picked this up as a freebie. I was expecting something that had some witchy magic. The title and cover imply magic, but there was nothing unless you count a noise neighbor who says she's a psychic.
The reason for Summer's boyfriend to dump her was stupid and one he should have talked to her about first, before leaving like he did. He comes back and of course this adds unnecessary drama. There is also the unnecessary drama that comes in the form of a jealous assistant to Alexander.
As for the romance between Alexander and Summer, it just was. I had no emotional connection to the characters and it felt like the author needed this to happen. They just were. One minute they are spending time together and the next their together in a relationship, though they only have stollen moments here and there, so I'm not sure how they could develop into the next step.
Sadly there was no character development nor world building. It felt like a bunch of words on a page that followed an outline to get from point A to point B. It wasn't disastrous nor did it have anything bad or trigger like; it just had nothing worth falling for.
Fall Into Magic was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.
Did I enjoy it? I really did. I read it every free chance I had. It is a quick read that will have you starting the second book as soon as you finish the last page.
In Fall Into Magic, we follow Summer Peters as she gets over a devastating breakup, lands a new interior decorating job, and ends up falling for her client, Alexander. I love the fall/Halloween setting. It adds the perfect setting/beginning to Summer's story. You can't help but want Summer to get her happily ever after . . . and for Melanie to go away.
Would I recommend it? Yes. If you are looking for a short, fun read, then this is your book.
Disclosure: I did some editing work on this title prior to publication. While I was compensated for the editing work, it in no way influenced my review.
I was looking for a fun series to start and I found a great one! Fall Into Magic was just what I needed. It's fun, set around Halloween and has a romantic tale attached! This series follows the life of Summer Peters, and in this particular novella she has just gone through a humiliating break up with her ex Jake. I mean, seriously who dumps someone while on vacation at the beach? She is looking for as many distractions as she can and she dives headfirst into her business. (She's an interior designer) She meets with her new client - Alexander - who just so happens to be gorgeous (how perfect is that?) and he is impressed with her thoughts on his home (or maybe he's more impressed with her) and he hires her! On the spot! This story has many dips and turns - she deals with her ex, starts to fall in love, has dealings with a psychic and a Halloween to remember (or I can't forget the personal assistant from hell!). I am currently reading book 2 in the series and you will love that one just as much!
I checked this book out on Kindle Unlimited in the hopes that I would be reading a cute romantic fall read; however, I simply found that this book wasn't for me at all. The writing didn't appeal to me and I wish that there was more character development in terms of the male lead Alex. He definitely felt one dimensional. As a reader it was like I didn't know anything about him which made it even more difficult to feel fully invested in the story. I did like the paranormal element which added to the overall dynamic of the story. I haven't decided whether I will continue or not. There is a chance that I could read the second book and enjoy it if there are improvements.
I found it to be an enjoyable read, it didn't quite reach the level of magic I was hoping for. While the writing was engaging, and the characters were relatable, I expected a deeper dive into the magical world...
The story, instead, unfolded in a more realistic setting, which was a bit disappointing considering my initial expectations. However, if you're in the mood for a light, character-driven story without the fantasy aspect, this book might be just what you're looking for. Melissa Baldwin's writing style is enjoyable, and the characters' interactions are well-crafted, making it a decent choice for a relaxed reading experience. 🙃
When we first meet Summer Peters she is in the depths of the summer blues. Her perfect vacation at the shore has been pounded by the waves of the dreaded fickle boyfriend. Jake had just told her, “I’m not sure I’m ready to be in a serious relationship.”
Summer heads back to her life in New York City “…sad as it is watching the summer roll away with the waves, I’m ready to begin the next chapter in my life…”
Author Baldwin mentions many yummy treats and a few tricks in this novella, but the yummiest part of all for us readers is that we get to know the delightful Summer and her friends, including a psychic landlady. Summer meets a new man, Alexander, and then there’s still Jake. Summer’s best girlfriend plans a Halloween party, too. Will this Hallowe’en turn out to be the best one yet? Who will end up in the magical relationship?
This book is fun, fast-paced, witty and easily readable, a sweet read! One of my favorite lines was, “Nothing says just friends like shaking hands.”
I’m looking forward to reading all four books in the Seasons of Summer Novella Series.
🌅Summer's end is not so sweet for Summer; will 🍂fall make up for it? July 6, 2019 Format: Kindle Edition 👍4-4.5🌟stars 👻 Fall Into Magic was short but a very easy and enjoyable read with some villains (a few of the costume variety!), some💔 heartbreak and new beginnings. Like the other Melissa Baldwin novels and novellas I've read, there's a background note of optimism even during trying times, and the heroine's close friendship with a few gal pals is probably largely responsible. Office mate Gina and her Connections(!) made me 😃 smile. The story's sweet and clean with a capable, rational, professional heroine who reluctantly gravitates toward her woo-woo psychic landlady. Covering all her bases, I guess😏.
I look forward to reading more about heroine Summer as the series progresses to learn if she's made the right choices.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the story provided through Hidden Gems; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is a great beach read with interesting characters, a heroine we can all identify with identify with and a happy ending. I like Summer, the heroine. She is in the middle of a very unpleasant experience and handles it, along with her best friends attempts to fix it for her, with grace. Alexander, her new client and potential love interest, is in his own difficult place coming off a recent divorce. Their chemistry is terrific and realistic. Then there's Summer's landlady, the psychic. Her cryptic comments add the right amount of mystery that kept me reading until I finished the novella. This is a fast enjoyable read and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
What an absolute delight this novella was to read! I loved the lightness of it as opposed to an intense emotional storyline. I really enjoyed Summer's friendship with Angie and Gina, as well as how she and her landlady began to see each other in a different light. I had no idea chocolate Twizzlers were a thing, but now I feel the need to find some ASAP to share with my daughter. I read this in one afternoon and was disappointed when the last page said, "The end". I can't wait to dive into the next book to see what the future holds for Summer and Alexander! I received a copy via Hidden Gems and am now leaving my honest and unbiased review of my own accord.
A cute tale of a woman, Summer, who is debating her love for her boyfriend, Jake, While working for Alexander, she discovers he is out to capture her heart. Alex's assistant is not at all happy when her boss lets Summer, an interior decorator, redo his enormous house. Can she cause problems? Will her jealousy ruin their romance? Summer will finally find out who is the one to win over her heart. A nice romantic read.
What a cute story. It was short and easy to read. The characters are likeable. The story line is realistic. Their chemistry is obvious and sweet. The supporting characters were fantastic, especially the psychic landlady. She gives enough comments to give a hint of mystery. This book is a good example of not judging a book by its cover. I recommend this sweet book for a quick read to make you smile.
Summer's boyfriend jilted her during their vacation saying things were too serious. Heartbroken she needs a distraction and takes on a new client for her interior decorating business but she didn't count on her client being so hot and with a jealous assistant. He invites her friends for a Halloween party at his place and Summers landlady who is also a psychic keeps a motherly eye on her. Most enjoyable read
Unputdownable novella! Once I began reading, I didn't want to stop. This book features a smooth writing style that easily tells the story of Summer and all the drama that she encounters in her adventures. Enjoyable poolside read - but be sure to download the rest of the series because you won't want to stop with Book #1!
Breakups should never be fun and for Summer this one is more shock than anything. For the reader, however, this breakup book is a delight. I loved the characters, especially the surprising landlady. I loved the friendships and the well represented jealousy episodes. Every storyline needs conflict, which this has, but it was the right amount for a perfect escape read.
Really, really love the characters in this book. Angie is over the top, Summer is great and Gina is a blast. This is a fun series that encompasses a past and future relationship that overlap to cause a great deal of confusion. Really enjoyed Mrs. Rothera, and hope to see more of her in future books. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This was a short and cute story. I really enjoyed it.
I listened to the audible version, and I didn’t care for the narrator. The accents were a bit much and didn’t seem super accurate. If I were to do it again, I would have just read it, but that downside wasn’t enough to ruin this story for me.
Summer finishes her summer vacation with her boyfriend walking out of her life, and her returning home crushed. Soon she has a new client and a new friend besides. This lighthearted romance was delightful, with humor, challenges, and a sweet new male interest to make it prefect.
Workplace / Holiday Romance ⭐⭐⭐/5 It started off GREAT Jets fan!! SI!! Grease 2!! What was there not to like? But I felt like it was a bunch of high schoolers and not adults!
I felt that it ended way too abruptly that we didn't get enough of their story to make me interested to read more.
A short and easy read involving relationship drama. The cover suggests the story involves witches, but there isn’t any — there is a Halloween party, and a fortune teller, but no ‘witches’ or anything ‘magical’. Even so, it’s a entertaining, quick read.
Really enjoyed this book,it's not the first book I've read by Melissa,I have enjoyed all the books I've read of hers so far. It's a fab feel good book. It's great to read curled with a cup of tea\coffee.
Even though this story is short, it’s an amazing one. Trying to change her life isn’t always so easy. A new client who seems to be friendlier than she thought. Perhaps even a romance will come of this , definitely needs to be read.
This was a fast read. I liked it, and want to read the next in the series. Curious to see more, especially about Mrs. Rothera, the psychic. She sounds interesting.
