Great story, but enough with the secrets and lies!!!!
3.5 stars
The third book in the Casual Enchantment series, and the twists and turns keep on coming! Evangeline has survived the trials of the last book and has now been reunited with Caden, and is rid of the dreaded curse. But there is more unexpectedness in store for her as she starts to experience potentially deadly side effects from her encounter with The Tribe, and the broken curse has had another outcome – one that has gone horribly wrong and has devastating consequences. And with the Witches and the Sentinel starting to make their move, the group must band together like never before, finding new allies in their fight to save the earth.
I am really enjoying this series - it’s interesting, exciting and unique, and I’m loving the ever-changing paranormal aspects as the story progresses.
But I have to say, I spent a huge proportion of this book being completely ticked off at Evangeline and her constant whining, lying and secret keeping. Yes, I understand that her situation is awful, but this latest one is all her own stupid fault and yelling at everybody else isn’t going to fix anything. And then there’s all of the lies and secrecy, which was so bad it reached a point where it was actually kind of despicable that she wouldn’t speak up. . I was really disappointed with her, and my disgust at her behaviour bought the book down for me.
But there is significant story progression in this book with the Fates getting directly involved in events and creating some hugely unexpected twists, leading to massive game changers for the characters individually, and for the overarching story arc. The whole gang – good and evil - are along for the ride and new characters are introduced and bring a nice change in dynamics.
It all builds to an ending which is exciting and action packed, and which sets up the next book in the series really well. I’m excited to carry on, and hope that Evangeline has grown up enough to stop the unnecessary angst and whining and start kicking some serious ass as all hell is about to break loose.
Mixed feelings for this one, but still totally invested. 3.5 stars.
Oh man, the last 30% were spectacular! I am still trying to pull myself together after everything that happened!
It is difficult to tell anything without giving spoilers so all I am going to say is that K.A.Tucker freaking rocks! Casual Enchantment is one of the most original, thrilling and fascinating series I have ever read. It is a must read for all paranormal lovers. I could not put it down, it was full of unique twists and now I cannot wait for final instalment Anomaly!
4.5 Stars All I can say is this series keeps getting better and better I can not put it down and I'm going head first into book 4 a definite must read series
When we last seen Evangeline all hell had broken loose and now she has a toxic poison flowing through her blood. A poison that at any minute, could possibly kill anyone she touches. Not only that, but she is withholding several secrets from everyone and trying to prepare for a war as which this world has never seen. Kind of puts a damper on the whole "being in love" thing.
It felt good stepping back into this world after quite a while away from it. I forgot how enticing it was and how it just sucks you in. It seems that no matter where Evangeline goes, trouble is sure to follow. The girl gets holed up in some of the most far off places and she still manages to bring about drama and problems...for everyone. But it wouldn't be a story if there wasn't drama, right?
One of the things I was most looking forward to was Caden. I remembered I loved him throughout the first two. But I am going to admit something. Something horrifyingly shocking. I was a little peeved at him. Gasp! I know! But through the whole first half the boy ticked me off. He knows that his time with Evangeline is limited, yet he still manages to avoid her. It broke my heart. And when a certain twist happens half way through, all of a sudden he wants her again. I do not like this about him. Not one bit. It just didn't sit well with me.
I felt really bad for Evangeline. She has no idea what to expect from her life now that she could be turned into a hideous killing machine. No one does. But, to me, she is taking it rather well. With all the secrets she is keeping and the tension that is mounting daily, I would have cracked a long time ago. But not Evangeline, she keeps on trucking along.
Brilliant and engaging storyline, this book kept me wondering if Evangeline would make it out of this hell she is forced to live in and had me sitting on the edge of my seat throughout a majority of it. I definitely recommend it and looking forward to ANOMALY, which I started immediately after this one.
I said I wanted Evangeline to be a badass here. NOT A FREAKING STUPID, WHINY, EMOTIONAL, AND HORMONAL TEENAGER. My gods!
Of course she got all the credit. OF COURSE SHE'S SUCH A POOR BRAVE GIRL FOR LYING TO ALL HER FRIENDS. Because, oh, she suffered hard, didn't she? She had to endure the hardships other people had to suffer for her recklessness.
This is just a reeeeaaaallllyyyyy sad character development. Everything, the plot, the twists, the opportunities to make the story SOOOOO epic, all came crashing down when Evangeline had to do the decision making. I mean, why??? Why K.A. Tucker, whhhhhhyyyyyyy? Everything in this book almost feels like a wasted opportunity! There were so many loopholes in the plot to solve the problems. I SEE THEM, but Evangeline has to whine first about her jaundice eyes and her deadly blood and aaaaalllll the guys that ends up romantically connected with her. I could almost understand why Amelie went ballistic with her.
Almost. Gadamn Amelie is cray.
It's so annoying that I'm still tempted to read the last book. I JUST HAD TO KNOW. Dear God please don't let me cringe as much in the last book. My need to know the ending is overpowering my exasperation with this protagonist.
Ok, so I really liked the other two books in this series. This one was NOT my favorite. Too many hidden secrets, too much eating her up inside for WAY too long. Over all I felt like this book was just taking up space...wasting time until the end so there could be a 4th book. I felt like a LOT of the stuff that happened in this book could have been written in a few chapters and then lets move on to the rest of the story. I felt like there was too much stalling. I would have only given this 2 stars, but I really liked the ending and it did make me want to read the next book. I'm excited to read that one, but this one was just a lot of frustration, finally a resolve and then an awesome ending. I hope the next one will be better. And finally, can we just let Evangeline and Caden be happy together without trying to pull them apart so much? Seriously, let them be happy. It can be done, especially when there is so many other crazy things going on around them. Just let these two find some solace in each other! Please.
3.5/5 stars. I enjoyed book 1 and 2 but this book was quite odd for me. It was long winded with so many twins and turns, many secrets and lies. I felt quite overwhelmed, to be honest, of it all. I had to re-read or re-listen what's truly is going on. I know many people love this type of storyline when you just don't know what will happen next. I guess when I read about "Fates" and how it operates, I was not so fond on that particular part for Sophia. It just killed the true purpose of the main journey and by that time after the Fates chapter, I lost interest a bit. This doesn't mean, I hate the plot or how it came about. It just means, it's a different approach to keep the memontum going. So, this book wasn't my favorite but of course, it won't back me down to continue on the series.
Oh my goodness what a ride allegiance has been. I finished the last 100 pages in an hour because I had to know what was going to happen. One more book to go and then the series is over. It’s going to be so hard to let these amazing characters go.
Evangeline is slowly becoming more tolerable finally! Max is still laugh out loud funny, Sofie is as wonderful as ever and Caden, well he just sounds like a sex god to be honest.
I cannot express how much I love these characters. Adding some others to the mix this book has made me want to stay in this story land forever. I love Lilly and wraith who was hilarious.
The story like the two previous books was just as fast paced and amazing, the way Kathleen describes where the characters are makes me feel like I’m there.
So I don’t give a lot of 5 stars, but I had such a good time reading this book. Definitely the funniest and the best of this series so far, the characters have grown on me. There wasn’t one boring moment, I finally got some action too, surprises every step of the way, romance still there and not always how I was expecting it. The fates took an important spot here, and it makes everything more interesting. I really really loved this book, hopefully the last one will be as good as this one.
I just love vampire romance. This is the weakest book in the series so far. The MC was really annoying and bratty. Given all she has been through, I kind of understand it, but still it is so frustrating to read it. I loved having Sofie’s perspective though! Can’t wait for the ending. I am also very glad that MC was able to reunite with her man, and that her new bff Julian was able to turn into a vampire with her and so was Veronique.
"He leaned in that last inch to skim my neck with his bottom lip, hardly touching and yet sending shock waves through me, deep into my belly."
Favorite Character: Caden. He's that tortured hero that you can't help but fall in love with!
First Line:
"A spine chilling crack jerked Imogen's attention to the center of the atrium."
My Musings: What a thrilling instalment! Although I'll admit that this series so far has not been the best I've read, it nonetheless enraptured me into the world of Evangeline. Like the previous two installments, this novel managed to keep me interested the whole time. Tucker's writing was detailed and descriptive. The characters are well developed, and we get to know some of them better in this novel.
Now that Evangeline has gotten the cursed pendant from around her neck--sans the instant death, all should be well for her and her vampire boyfriend, Caden. However, when is the life of Evie ever that simple? The magic that got the pendant off of her neck, of course, came at an unforeseen price--Evie now begins to morph into a creature that could very well be fatal to all whom she touches. The race against time now begins to cure Evie, Julian, and Veronique from this curse now running through their veins.
This plot was full of twists and turns. Just when you thought that Evie would get her happily ever after, another curse becomes apparent. Just when you believe that Veronique will be freed, something gets in the way. This book kept me on my toes regarding what would happen--it was almost impossible to predict!
The characters were the icing on the cake. I loved seeing Sophie interact with Mage, Sophie interact with Evie, Sophie interact with Caden, Caden interact with Evie, and Julian interact with Evie. I loved the friendships and bonds that formed over the course of this book, and I cannot wait to discover the effects of them as the series progresses. Even more than the friendships, I loved the romance. Evie and Caden are perfect for each other. they get each other, they strengthen each other, and they love each other it's almost disgusting. However, their cuteness factor is off the charts. I also loved Julian and Amelie! they were such an unexpected couple and I was like whaaaaaa?! However, i do think that they will be good for each other, with Julian's calmness and Amelie's..not calmness! The last pairing that I loved was Mortimer and Veronique! Even though we see little of them, I love them more than Viggo and Veronique. But I guess you'll have to read the book to see who she chooses won't you?!
Finally, that cliffhanger! Tucker definitely kept me wanting more. Never have i had an ending like that! I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment to the Casual Enchantment series.
Tucker procured an exciting and exhilarating read--one that will take you on an adventure to a place like you've never known!
As always Author KA Tucker delivers an amazing story in book 3, that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Evangeline is now free from the neckless and able to be in the man's arms she so disparately wanted to be in. Caden and her are now together but at what coast and will this last for ever? Evangeline is changing, and are things around her more and more wrong? She has secrets she must keep from everyone she loves and trying to keep all her friends safe might coast her the one thing she wants. Journey into this new adventure with Evangeline and her friends to find out whats in store for them all, you WONT be disappointed.
Well what can I say, start to finish I was hooked. K.A. Tucker has written another amazing book. I loved that I got to get more of everyone on this story and that I felt part of the story. Evangeline seemed to be stronger in this one and her love and loyalty for her friends were awesome. She did get a little crazy at points and you wanted to say COME ON GIRL but she was so much fun to read. Julian, Amelie, Caden, Sophie and the rest of the cast were great on this one. They all had such great story lines and always taking you down a road I did not see coming and they made it so much more on the edge of my seat reading. The adventure in this one has to be my favorite in all 3 books, it was just wow and oh no and OMG kind of reading. The journey they all must take to find out how to save the ones they love, this is not only Evangeline's story its more and I think thats what had me flipping pages because I wanted to find out what would happen. And no I am not giving anything away you MUST pick up if you want more!!
K.A. Tucker did not disappointed in this one or any of the other ones for that matter. Allegiance is such an amazing title for this one and what a different type of vampire book as well. You will encounter so many other types of people in this one giving the story a much more in-depth read. Not sure I can pick on character because I loved them all as you will and getting sucked into this story like the last 2. It will rock your mind!!
Make sure if you have not read the first 2 you get right over and get them, then you will be able to ride the roller coaster of Allegiance and fall in love over again! Thanks to K.A. Tucker for these amazing books and letting me be apart of her journey while she shares it with all of us!!
Golly, what a fun ride this series is for me. I was blown away by some of the reveals in this installment but alas that's how series go. The maternal relationship of Sophie and Evangeline is endearing and holds some great lessons. Lots of quote worthy moments I'm finding. So far, pretty clean for my daughter too. bonus!! Eek...last one next!!
This book had a little bit of everything with witches, vampires, and werewolves. I loved how the author managed to make them all work together to create an amazing read. We start this book off with us meeting Evangeline and realizing that what she wished for may not have been what she really wanted. I loved that Evangeline managed to suffer through all that had happened to her and was still able to love and be loved. She didn't let all that was going wrong keep her down. I loved that she was so strong and could hold her own amongst all the supernatural creatures since she was just a human. It was so fun to watch her interact with them with no problems.
I loved watching Caden and Evie interact with each other. They had such a sweet simple love considering all that they had to contend with. I loved that the love from each other kept them both grounded and able to help out each other. I loved Caden and he was so swoon worthy and awesome. He was a great character in the book and one that I came to love and see why Evie loved him so much. I also liked Sophie a great deal. She was such a powerful with and I loved her bond with Evie. It was truly like a mother/daughter relationship that I loved. The author crafted such a great book that it was not hard at all to fall in love with the characters. They were all just so likeable and well written.
I loved that as we went through this book Evie became stronger and way more independent. I loved that she was a think first and forget the consequences type of character. She would just jump head first into things without thinking about it. I loved that the story was set during Christmas time because it was truly amazing to see all the decorations and how much Sophie wanted to make everything special for Evie. The author did a good job of setting the pace of this book too and it flowed so well.
Overall I loved everything about this book. It was a great read filled with romance, suspense, and plenty of twists and turns throughout it. I loved the author's writing style and the way she developed the plot. It made for a truly enjoyable read that I would highly recommend to others. I hope you take the chance to read this really amazing book.
I received this book for review for the blog tour and it in no way infulenced my review.
After I finished the Asylum, I could not wait to start this one! I may have actually started it at like 2 in the morning (when I of course had to work the next morning) because I had to know what happens! As with the way the second book started, this one picked up right where the last one ended. With Evangeline finally realizing that she really cant trust anyone, and after 18 years of not having friends to talk to she starts to alienate the ones she finally does have because she has so many secrets that she cant share. In this book we learn a lot more about Sofie, and Mortimer also shows us a much softer side as well. Sofie no longer hides her maternal feelings for Evangeline, but its because of those feelings that Evangeline can not confide in her anymore. Cadan was slightly annoying in the book, I mean yea sure Evangeline was stranded with Julian for a few months alone, and they bonded… but he has no right to feel betrayed or be mad at her IF anything had happened between them because well he has lived for hundreds of years… and when he first met Evangeline she had to watch him get pawed all other by Rachel. However, regardless of Cadan’s jealousy, I loved that Julian and Amelie clicked, they are just so cute (when Amelie isn’t trying to bash the maids head in for smiling at him) and I feel so bad for Julian because of the secret he is keeping from her. As I said earlier, Evangeline has finally found her backbone, and although she is still a scared naïve teenager, I love how much she has grown into herself, she doesn’t just stand by anymore, she takes charge. I am also very curious about how her relationship with Lily with play out! But the part that I liked the most was when Sofie was summoned by the fates, Sofie had a choice to make and for once I think she had it right, however the fates are fickle, and they already had a plan in place which was evident at the end of the book when the fates once again intervene. This is the third book in the series, and I absolutely LOVE this series! I wish this was the final book, but its not… the final book is expected hopefully by the summer of 2013. So if you have not read this series yet, you have tons of time to get them and start reading them all!
HOLY CRAP!!!! Man this book blew me away!!! WOW!!!! I mean... HOLY FREAKIN WOW!!!!!
Well, we are now on book 3 of the Causal Enchantment series and just as before...this one blew me away. I absolutely love how K.A. takes me on a journey that I was so not expecting. Keeping me on my toes throughout the whole book, eagerly awaiting for events to unfold and then jumping for joy when things go the way I hope for... Here we are with Evangeline, now under the Tribe's magic and slowly changing in to something she completely fears...Happily reunited with Caden, yet she now carries so many secrets that a wall erects between them and their encounters become tense and filled with longing. I just wanted to grab Evie and shake some sense in to her when she made some of the decisions she did, I mean, I understood through her reasoning why she made those decisions, but I just didn't agree when I knew loved ones were getting hurt. Well, enough of that, because as I said before, this book was just as phenomenal as the first two. It carries you through so much. We get to meet some new characters that really add some interesting elements to the storyline as well as see Sofie's plans come together. Are they successful? I won't tell you...but, I will say this, K A led me down a path in this book that I did not see coming. I absolutely love that I couldn't guess what was going to happen. Up to the very end was I sighing for relief and then holding my breath again at what is to come... So much happens in Allegiance that talking about one thing can give away to something else. I don't like to give any spoilers so I will just say that once I opened this book up, I couldn't put it down! The Causal Enchantment series is such a unique vampire tale that you don't feel like you are reading the same thing over and over. The characters are thoroughly developed with a slow growth in each book. You are immediately drawn to them and find yourself thinking about them days after you have finished the book. The world created by K A in this series is mind-blowing. Refreshing, creative, unconventional, and an overall remarkable storyline, this series is one that you will not want to miss out on!! If you haven't started this series yet...Anathema is the first book...Get yours today!!
I do usually get bored and loose concentration when reading a fantasy book series that involves a lot of detail from one book to another. However there is a few I fall in love with and this specific series has definitely been one of them. Since reading the first book in this series I knew I just had to carry on reading. Well the third book in this series has just been drama after drama and I could not put it down. Loaded with action, plots, deceit & strategy, the books get better and better as the series progresses.
Poor, poor Evangeline. Her whole life has just been dramatic and when one thing turns into a positive there is always a negative around the corner for her. Well now she slowly becoming a killing machine, she daren’t get close to anyone she loves. Especially Caden, Ahh yes Caden. He really did annoy me throughout this book. The one time, Evangeline really needs him when everyone around her has to be kept a distance, he just did not even attempt to help her or understand how she was feeling.
I still love Sophie, and I honestly believe this book and the series would not be as amazing without her. As proven in this book, everyone just does not no what to do next without her personality around. She is such a strong and confident women, which has so much power just simply because everyone well… nearly everyone respects her.
This review has not got as much information in it as I would of liked and probably sounds a lot like the other two in this series just simply because I do not want to ruin it for everyone. Every part within this book there is drama and I mentioning it will just ruin the book for yourself. However I must get this off my chest….. OMG!!! When a certain someone (keeping it a surprise) says ‘My child’ to Evangeline I just was like seriously?, no?, let me read that again.
I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy.
(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to K. A. Tucker and Supagurl blog tours.) This is the third book in the ‘Causal Enchantment’ Series, and kicks off where book 2 ‘Asylum’ left off. **Warning – some unavoidable spoilers for books 1 and 2 – ‘Anathema’ and ‘Asylum** This book kicks off where book 2 ended – Sofie has managed to rescue Evangeline, and now they must find somewhere safe to lie low for a while, so that they can work out what to do about the anti-vampire legion, Veronique, Bishop, and of course – Evangeline herself!
Can Sofie possibly solve the problem of the anti-vampire legion (The Sentinel)? How much trouble can Evangeline get herself into? How much trouble can Sofie get herself into? And what will become of Veronique?
I’m trying to keep this as spoiler-free as possible, so this might be a bit short! Once again poor Evangeline has a whole load more rubbish hurled at her in this instalment, it seems that the moment one problem is fixed for her, a dozen more are created. There are just so many little twists and turns in the tale that really keep you on your toes!
Things are messed up between Caden and Evie for more than one reason, and it’s so unfair that they still can’t really be together. I really feel for Evie that nothing seems to go right for her, and even under the circumstances, it’s unfair that not even her love life is going right!
Sofie just seems to get herself deeper and deeper into the doo-doo, how she will ever solve this mess is quite beyond me! The whole parallel worlds thing is delved into again in this book, and some answers about these parallel worlds and the fates are given!
The ending wasn’t 100% what I expected, as although some things were solved, new problems came about as consequences of solving the problems, and the ending has left such a wide-open space for whatever will become of Evangeline next. Overall; a great third instalment. 7 out of 10.
After the Sentinels and the witches teamed up to destroy the vampires, Sofie and the gang escaped to Paris to hide and regroup. Left behind in New York was Veronique, Sofie's human sister who was trapped in a statue for over a hundred and twenty years but not any longer. Captured by the witches, she is tortured for information and the only who knows what is happening to her is Evangeline who becomes linked through her dreams. Evangeline has rolled with the punches, the pain of losing her mother, being cursed and nearly killed by Rachel plus now slowly being poisoned by the Tribes magic which could one day turn her into a monster. A single touch could kill those she loves and Sophie does not know how to fix it. That is the least of her problems really because when Viggo and Mortimer find out that Evie has been keeping secrets, one of them will try and kill her for sure. All the gang are back, Max her adorable guardian with his droll sense of humour, Julian whose is like a brother to her though he hides a deadly secret also and Amelie with her childlike enjoyment of life away from Ratheus. Bishop is still reeling from the loss of his mate Fiona and desperate for revenge. A few new faces emerge and enemies may become friends in an effort to fight for their freedom. Caden is one sexy vampire and madly in love with Evie though his faith in her will be put to the test. Viggo is still a psychopath, the vampire we all love to hate and Sophie the mother hen is trying to keep the family together in spite of the fates turning her spells into something dark and twisted. Plenty of action and a touch of romance to keep me going till the last book comes out.
OMG ...I am in AWE of how freaking GREAT this book was!! It took twist an turns making the story so riveting an captivating !
I LOVED the entire book. I believe this book is my favorite of all three. I can't even begin to imagine how K.A Tucker will be able to top this in the 4th book an final installment of the series.
Evie grew so much in this book. Her personal struggles an turmoil...I kept thinking "How will they ever get out of this? ". I love Max,the humongous vampire hound, with his funny, snarky mind messages he shoots off in Evangeline's mind...
"Max, is not speaking to the traitor master right now. Please leave a message and perhaps he will one day forgive her for her profound treachery. Beep! "
I am just in AWE over the unique new characters, the additional stories introduced an they FIT so perfectly in the breath of the story.
K.A. Tucker is a PHENOMENAL author. Her characters are so vivid, unique an they really come alive in the story.
It is so RARE to read a book that you seriously can't figure out what is next. An believe me I couldn't!
So many books with witches, vampires, werewolf's an humans are so full of cliche's you can always get an idea of what will happen next. WELL NOT IN THIS BOOK! You will be in amazed at how seamless an beautifully wrtitten the new characters are introduced.
My suggestion IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE FIRST TWO BOOKS....DO IT NOW.
IF YOU READ THE FIRST TWO...THEN READ THIS ONE NOW!!
This was a very unique series. It is a vampire story but not just your everyday vampire book either. This also has the Fates involved as well as parallel worlds, witches, were-beasts and a fanatical group bent on eradicating all vampires from the face of the Earth. I give this book and this series 4 stars.
Evangeline is a good heroine in this story. She gets pushed around and has always been overlooked all her life but it still doesn’t get her down about that. She continues to fight for what she wants even when she wants to give up. Now in this installment we do see her start to change her personality but she is also fighting a curse so I have to say I can’t really blame her on this. Sophie is a great character and a powerful witch that has really been dealt a sad hand but she continues to fight through it for the ones she loves.
The author weaved a great tale of love, fate and magic in this story. I liked the characters, the scenery and the unusual creatures. I also enjoyed how when you ask the Fates for something they have to twist your request for their own entertainment while still granting your requests if they feel like it at the time. The were-beasts in the story I think are my favorite especially Max. There are so many layers to the story that with each book we peel back another layer.
I was lucky enough to be able to read book 1, 2 and 3 in a row but now I am stuck waiting on book 4 to come out to see where the characters are headed for next.
*I received this book free as part of the tour for an honest review.*
Gahhhh, she's done it again! I swear, this lady keeps you coming back for more and more. This book is everything I wanted in a continuation of a series. There is suspense, drama, mystery.. enough to keep you reading and wondering what's going to happen next. There are some answers along the way, which makes you feel content around the ending before a big cliffhanger that makes you NEED the next one IMMEDIATELY. Goodness! It's a great series.
Evangeline has a lot going on. She has secrets to keep, friends to protect, and enemies to keep close. She also has a curse running through her veins that could make her touch deadly at any minute. But Eve makes the best of it in her own way and tries to save the world at the same time. Sofie wants to help her, but she can't fix Eve with this curse. What's a witch/vampire to do?
There's so much more to all this, I can't even explain. So much goes down in this one!! But it's all building up to what I know will be the most epic conclusion ever! I SO cannot wait! KA Tucker has created such an awesome series and world. She thinks of everything in these novels. I obviously have some general hopes, but I know I will be pleased with however this series works out. Definitely check out this series if you haven't yet!
So much happens!! Crazy! Once you think "oh yay it might work out" BAM Another twist! I love that it switches off between Sophie and Evangeline. You get to see all the little stuff (and big stuff) happening with both of them. I do feel a bit bad for Sophie because the Fates are tricky and a bit cruel. You get to learn soo much about everyone and I love them all! But I am a bit iffy with Caden, I mean he is great and all. Always trying to protect and do whats best for Evangeline but I felt like he was hot and cold all the time. But I guess it does much some sense but still! Some parts I was laughing out loud at and other I was practically biting my nails! There is never a dull moment in this book! One thing that I really loved about this book more than the others is that Evangeline is not so innocent and trusting (well she is but...not quite as much). If I had to keep all those secrets I think my head would explode! Or I would say something rude and revealing to Viggo just to make him stop talking (and to rub it in his face that I knew something). This was really a great book! It tied up all the loose ends of the other two books perfectly but will there be another one? (I don't know, but hopefully there will be).
Book 3 in the series picks up with Eve back with Caden, but with poisoned blood. She cannot be turned. Julian is a Sentinel and is enamored with Amelie and she with him. Eve doesn't know what to do since she knows he is a Sentinel, but also her friend and does not want him killed. Veronique is free, but Eve thinks that is a dream, until she realizes she is connecting with her via dreams where she learns she is being tortured by the witches.
Eve will go through a lot of changes...she will lie to everyone to protect them. Some of those decisions will drive a wedge between her and Caden as he learns she is keeping things from him and thinks she was involved with Julian. Viggo and Mortimer don't know Veronique is free...neither does Sofie. They seek an alliance with Lilly, a child vampire in hopes of defeating the witches and the Sentinels. Bishop is tortured due to Fiona's death in book 2. Eve eventually turns more like the Tribe and fears she will kill her friends.
In a lot of twists again, everyone will eventually learn Julian is a Sentinel, Veronique is free and being held prisoner, Eve is changing and Sofie is playing a game with the Fates. Another good follow up by the author...I cannot wait for the next book.
