Driftwood follows a timid young pianist’s twenty year struggle against loneliness and unrequited love while living in central New York in the 1990s and 2000s. After falling in love at age seven with the beautiful but fickle Sarah Hale, Tim Hoffman, an aspiring inventor, learns of Sarah’s desire to only marry a talented musician. In order to gain Sarah’s affection, Tim makes a drastic decision which changes the course of his life forever. Set at three crucial points in Tim’s life—ages seven, eighteen and twenty six—the story shows how a sweet but shy young boy transforms into a man he never imagined he would ever become.
