INTRODUCING THE ME, MY MESS, & I ISSUE

The Messy Heads Issue One, the first printed edition of the Messy Heads features 120 pages dedicated to discovering who you are on the inside, building a relationship with yourself, and thinking about how to best express the inner workings of your messy mind.

The premier issue of the Messy Heads magazine also features submissions from dozens of young women who get honest and vulnerable as they explore not only style and adventure but also such issues as positive body image, pressures of social media, searching for purpose and failed romance.

The premiere issue of The Messy Heads explores the self in three themed parts: discovering yourself, expressing yourself, and loving yourself. There are photo essays, short stories, articles, journal prompts, music play lists, poems and even some pages with interactive prompts for the reader to get out the pen and coffee and explore their own messy thoughts.

Muistaaks kukaan vuosien 2015-2018 internetistä tätä messy heads-blogia?? Löysin sen joskus neljätoistavuotiaana ja se oikeesti muutti mun elämän sillon ja tilasin niiltä näitä lehtiä ja löysin nää nyt muuttosiivouksen yhteydessä. Tää eka numero on nimeltään The Self Issue ja tää on kannesta kanteen oman ulkonäön, identiteetin ja maailmassaolemisen ruotimista, eli tää on kutakuinkin sellasen 2010-luvun boheemin nettihippinuoruuden magnum opus. Vierastan tällasta ylitsevuotavaa self love-kulttuuria nykyisin aika paljon, mut samalla kaikki tästä muistuttaa mua niin käsinkosketeltavasti mun kymmenen vuoden takaisesta itsestäni, eli sinänsä nimi the self issue osuu tässä nappiin. Se blogi ja kaikki siihen liittyvä on poistettu jo vuosia sitten ni on outoo omistaa tällasta muuten jo kadonnutta mediaa.

THIS. This is the type of media that young adults-anyone questioning/exploring their identity, or wanting to improve on themselves- should read and indulge in. It's okay to think and create differently than others, embrace that, maybe make some money off of that, ha. It's okay to look different than other people around you, embrace your skin and scars.

Definitely a small business worth supporting as their magazines are ad-free, include reader-submissions, raw and real stories and articles, photos are edited for aesthetic reasons only (no photoshop), and there are activites for you and your friends to do and reflect on. The message of being a wholesome, unique individual is great.

The theme that I took away was, "It's okay to have a messyhead, let's show you how to become a friend with it and make the best existence out of it. create through it."

I read only a few pages a day of this when I started it but this morning I sat down and flew through it till the very end because I was so invested and engrossed with the overwhelming amount of inspiration and joy this brought me and honestly, this has easily become one of my most prized possessions and favourite book of the year as I already feel that it has changed the way I engage with my emotions and actions on a personal level and I simply cannot stop thinking about it ✨
