The only thing Clair Douglas wanted was to find a job as far away from her hometown as possible. What she doesn't know is that soon her normal life will be the very thing she longs for most.
The Gate to eternal life has stopped in Healdsberg, CA, bringing with it a force so strong that everything and everyone touched by it will be changed forever, including Clair.
After discovering she has magic in her blood, she learns that living as an angel is only the beginning of her problems. Dark family secrets threaten to expose even more troubling news, placing her in the center of a battle between good and evil.
Along the way, Clair will acquire unlikely allies. Two angels are charged with teaching her to hone her abilities, but one will win her heart.
I loved this book. I used it as my bus read. It was easy-to-follow and fun. If I hadn't used it as a bus read, I probably would have been with it much quicker. I was sad each time I had to finish it for the day.
At first, I thought I wouldn't like it. It took me a couple of chapters, and then I quickly fell in-step with the characters and story. It was interesting to see how all the pieces from the beginning came together at the end of the book.
What I liked most about the book...it wasn't coming from one character's point-of-view. You got to experience it on multiple levels through different characters. I didn't expect that when I began the book. I loved the developing relationship between Clair, her friends and family, and her romantic relationships. I had the one guy I wanted her to be with, but didn't hate the other guy along the way.
I think this story-line has many different adventures to go on, and can't wait to see where it's headed.
I won this book through Goodreads Giveaways. Honestly, I didn't think I would end up liking this book very much. It started out kinda slow, but it was kind of a building up kind of slow. The whole story was kind of like a rollercoaster, with fun and boring normal life to exciting supernatural. I really can't wait until the next book comes out.
I honestly have no idea how this ended up on my TBR. Finishing this book was.... A challenge. It reads like a final DRAFT. I'm convinced that the final draft accidentally got uploaded to Kindle. You can tell the author put a lot of thought into the world I enjoyed the take on good vs evil and I liked the characters. But man was this book hard to finish I almost DNFd it so many times. Going to give the second one a shot in hopes it has actual sentence structure and puntuation....
Loved this book! It was such an easy fun read for me! The characters were great! I loved Clair’s relationship with her friends, family, and her romantic relationships. I just loved it! 💞
This was so fun! It reminded me of like, a CW show because of the drama between some characters and the fact that it’s about angels. This was the perfect palette cleanser for me.
I listened to the audiobook, and I feel like I should have done it at a lower speed because it was a little hard to follow this one. I liked the premise, but the execution fell flat for me.
