Forbidden. Sworn Enemy. Wicked Seduction. Savage angels have turned Earth into their hunting ground. To save all earthborns, the fey princess Rose agrees to the King of Angels' demand of marriage, knowing she won't survive the wedding night. When she comes to Atlantis to find a secret weapon to banish angels from our planet, she awakens the darkest lust in the king's lethal brother.
The most formidable angel comes across the universe and finds her. He will stop at nothing to possess her, even if he must fall. The High Prince offers Rose an indecent proposal: sleep with him once and he'll keep her safe. Rose will turn his urge against him and destroy the angels' house. While unbridled lust burns the prince, it also torments her.
This sizzling mythological romance series centers on war and lust between an immortal race and fallen angels, before humans walked the earth.
Meg Xuemei X is a USA Today and Amazon Charts bestselling author of paranormal and fantasy romance. She loves writing badass heroines and hot psycho alphaholes.
The book has one of the most awful covers that I’ve ever seen, and one of the main protagonists (a little help here: the guy) runs around with a GIANT erection 85% of the time – which becomes a bit annoying, buuuuuuut: the whole writing of the book; the main characters, the world-building, the secondary characters, the politics, the story-line…etc-etc IS AMAZING!!
I loved how Meg Xuemei was able to write a book from 2 very different perspectives and could write it brilliantly! The main characters are exceptionally interesting & their voices resemble a deep level of reflexion and emotional intelligence. I just love this kind of thing.. Being in Rose’s and Seth’s head was a very enjoyable journey for me!
Aaaaaand, last but not least: this book is very hot! Absolutely steamy.. I can ONLY recommend getting into it.
Maybe one bit of criticism: after the first wave of “her scent makes me crazy”.. Xuemei could switch to something else for a change. I liked that she picked ‘scent’ as the main driving source of lust (it’s a bit deeper than describing a heroine as ‘stunningly beautiful’), but after a while, it just became repetitive.
All in all, if you are interested at reading something interesting and original – with a slight oddity (yeah, this thing about angels being aliens was not really the pulling-in factor for me), than take this book! You will love it!
Uh! Ps: thanks for ManyBooks that I could get a hold of the first part of the series for free! This was a true gem! I already purchased the second one! The beauty about this book is that Xuemei wrote it in a way that the sex is not the only aspect that's going to interest you, you'll WANT TO keep on reading for the story too!
Meg Xuemei X's Erotica fantasy The Empress of Mysth will transport your mind and imagination to a whole new reality. Revolving around politics and seduction, this story is the beginning of what will become a suspenseful, lustful, sexually complicated relationship between two enemies, Prince Seth and his future Sister-in-Law Princess Rose. Told from two different perspectives, the reader is quickly transferred from the dark thoughts and desires between the Prince and Princess, giving a verisimilitude connection textured with raw emotion, humanism, and sexual lust.
The story, the background, the scenario, and the characters were all captivating. Meg really has a talent of creating new worlds and different realities that are outside the scope of human ingenuity.
Me: So this book is BORING as hell, like, the plot is not good at all... I think I should stop reading. Also me: But it's free and plus you don't have any other books read, so just FINISH IT! Me: Not true, I could be reading Stephen King right now. Also me: Yeah but you want to read fantasy Me: But this book is just not good! Nothing's happening! Also me: You just need to read on... Me: Yeah maybe but when is something actually going to happen-

The Empress of Mysth 1: Angel's Lust by Meg Xuemei X 5 Hot and Heavenly Stars
Wowzer What a Awesome Story!! I think I found me another favorite author and I'm definitely going to add all books in this series to my tbr list.
Being a princess of Mysth, Rose is sold into marriage to King Agro by her father to bring peace to their race. Little does she know that King Agro's brother, the High Prince of Angels has his sights on her. Prince Seth can't understand why after so many years he is aroused by her and it pisses him off. lol. He is deadly in more ways than one. He's downright HOT.
The princess has her own motives and it certainly isn't trying to mend fences between the races. She wants to overthrow the angels once and for all. Prince Seth has a different plan. hehe. And that is when things get really interesting in the book.
Great PNR/YA Story of Angels. Mature Readers 18+, strong language and sexual encounters.
I was gifted an Advanced Reader Copy of the book by the author for an honest review. Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog.
This story is not like others. The Angels here are alien conquerors of Earth not heavenly angels. That being said....the heroine is Fey! To keep all of Earth safe the Fey princess must find the Angels weakness and exploit it to either kill the High Angel and his sons or to take his powers. The only problem is High Prince Seth...the Kings brother. Even though she Rose has been promised to King Argo she feels something for his brother Seth, and Seth feels something for her!!! Will an age old prophecy involving The Earth Mothers most favorite child end up a kings bride, a prince's bride or the Earth's most favored protector??? A must read for all SciFi readers!
I didn't know what to expect going into this book, but oh was it worth it. A very good book, just want to see if the prince and princess can finally end the frustration, or stay at a stand off
Despite the interesting premise and fine twist on Angels-Fey relations, I have mixed feelings about the book. Rose, the heir to Twilight realm and future empress of Mysth, is betrothed to a sadistic angel, King Agro, to form an alliance before the angels conquer the rest of the Earth and start to dominate the Fey empire. The princess, fierce and fearless, is forced to accept her role as the "peacemaker", but she follows her own agenda: to destroy the cold-hearted winged creatures and save her realm, or die trying. But meeting the High Prince of All Angels, the beautiful and strong warrior Seth, shakes her composure.. and provides an opening she longed for. I very much liked the world setup and the magical elements in the story. Picturing the angels as vile creatures in opposition to the delicate Fey with their healing magic is quite a different view from the customary one. The plot seems promising and the characters are intriguing enough to attract some attention. But what bothered me was how the story was cut. I only started to really enjoy the book and sink deeper into the story, when abruptly it was over. I totally did not expect that since my reading app showed something around 60% of the book read. It literally ended in the middle of something, open and with many loose ties. I understand that these will be probably tied in the next installments, but this was really very short and abruptly cut. I don't mind cliffhangers, but I don't know if this qualifies... or qualifies too much. I will probably read the rest of the series in the book bundle, without the disrupting breaks, so that I can really enjoy the story.
It had potential, but it feels like I've been scammed.
My biggest issue - I was expecting a full length book. It ended up being more like a couple chapters. They hardly meet before the book is over and you have to buy the next. Ok. The next is .99 cents. ..I bought it. Another couple chapters. End. Book 3 is $3 and every book thereafter is $3 for EIGHT "books". Just interesting enough to strong you along, but some grammar problems and repeating the same scenes but from each characters point of view was really tedious and yet another cheap way to barely extend the book without adding any new or interesting content. Even as short as the scenes were, there was a ton of repeated thoughts, just taking up word count. Very lazy writing. Also generally unpolished. It feels self published without enough critique partners and beta readers. The writer, plot and story had potential but the writer seems to be flirting with scamming instead, leading you on bit by bit until total price comes out around $29 for what should have been a single .99c book, in the stage of editing it was released in. I stopped reading after 3rd book. Shame. Could've been a decent story.
This is an interesting read and the story continues in other books. You have a group that has gained control and a fae princess is working to regain power over the angels. She has been promised to the King but has strong feelings for his brother.
I thought it was interesting how the author presented the chapters from the contrasting views of the two main characters. I prefer when we get both the male and the female characters point of view presented as it makes me feel closer to the characters. It is a shorter read and this is only the first part of their story.
The book deserves a five-star rating because the author is able to capture both Princess Rose and Prince Seth's voice well. She was able to write both their perspectives without repetition. The imagery was great. The author always creates these amazing worlds that don't disappoint. I can't wait to read the next book. This was a good start to a love story that's only just started.
I liked this world and the story, The writing could be better and it was extremely short. Also it's a serial with no proper ending HEA or otherwise and the story is basically split up into loads of books. I didn't dislike though, so won't give a one.
Got this from amazon with all 8 books of the series in one set.
3.5 stars I liked the world and the characters were pretty good. The hero was pretty awesome once he came around. I’d like to try more books by this author.
Ok I normally hate serial novellas but since this is in KU I can easily get the next installment. Which is good because I need to know what comes next.
I received a review copy of the book Empress of Mysths Books 1-3 in exchange for an honest review and to be perfectly honest I'm disappointed. I know that not every book is meant for everybody and I do appreciate the time and work that they put into and have the courage to in putting their work out there. There are a couple of reasons I am giving it a 1 star rating. The first one is that this is supposed to be a 3 book into 1 book its more 3 novellas or parts into 1 book. My biggest complaint is that it switches between the two main characters and is often repeating the same thing. Maybe it is to make sure that the reader doesn't get confused. I don't know but it is distracting. The Angel's Lust is where Princess Rose is being traded to the King of Angels, who by the way aren't the cute and kind beings that they are usually visualized but cruel warriors to protect her people and her father's behind. Here comes in the High Prince who is his oldest brother of the King and he is to guard her until the king and she are married. Angel Obsession is exactly what the title says. The high prince is obsessed with Princess Rose even though she is to be wed to the king. She is as much as obsessed with him as he is with her but she is determined that she is going to be the downfall of the Angels and is there to stop them from taking over Earth. Finally Part 3, Angel's Indecent Proposal is also exactly what it says. He proposes that he will protect her if she spends the night with him but leaves the ending in a cliff hanger for the following book or part, however you want to see it as. If you are into short novellas with cliff hangers then this is probably the book for you.
*Angels have taken over Earth and thus the Fae. The Fae princess has been given to marry an Angel prince. Things get complicated as she searched for their weakness and fight the attraction she has for her future brother-in-law.
I found this book extremely short and too repetitive. The chapters move from one perspective to another. Most of the chapter was a repeat of the previous one just from the other’s point of view. While I enjoy seeing different perspectives in a story, I did not like the repetitiveness of it. I started to skip through the first parts of the chapters until I got into new parts of the story. When I got to the end, I was disappointed. I would not pay for the second due to it being of similar size.
I felt that the story had a lot of promise, but it was too short, repetitive, and fixated on the sexual tension. The mystery of the power and the people seemed to be pushed to the background. Amazon says it is 182 pages, but on my Kindle it showed it as much shorter and I sped through it too fast.
Note: I purchased this book with my own funds with no expectation of a positive review.
This is a book about nothing. The heroine, a fairy princess, is sent as hostage/bride to the king of the conquering angels. She travels from her father's court to the throne room of her future bridegroom, where they trade insults. Nothing happens. The king's brother is smitten with her and has his first hard-on in two millennia. They also trade insults. Nothing happens. She then goes to her room, bathes, and from there sneaks into the king's private study. The king's brother finds her there, and shields her when the king nearly discovers her. Nothing happens. This takes 20 very tedious chapters filled with butchered idioms (e.g. "a cat in a heat") and bizarre word choices. (English is clearly not the author's first language, which is not a criticism, but failure to employ a competent translator is.) The culmination of this non-story is a blatant cliffhanger and the author's invitation to read the sequel. That's not happening either.
Read the boxset in less then a day. Overall the storyline and writing were both mediocre to interesting. What truly ruined the book and made it mediocre vs incredible was the lack of sustenance in between the opening and closing of the book. It's almost like each book jumps from chapter 1-5 straight to chapter 25-30. There was no meat in the middle. No back stories. No drama, no heartbreak or the story of there love growing or why it became and how. There was no descriptions, or intensity that a middle of a book should always give you before you reach the end to wrap it up. So overall the storyline and writing were okay, If the writer had put more time into the books/set and added maybe 1 more book to the set to be able to go into more detail and storyline branch offs or details the books would have been incredible. That's why it's Mediocre. Because simply put, it could have been incredible but the writer dropped the ball and cut corners and only wrote us a beginning and an end.
This is turns out to be like an intro to a long story. It ended at about 60% on my Kindle and it was like hitting a brick wall. Abrupt. It gives no warning or notice that it is going to end where it does and moves quickly into a preview of the next installment. The remaining section of this book promotes other books written by the author. I have to admit that it was a harsh way of leading into the next installment, but the story was interesting. The Angel, Seth, this book is written about has a high or royal position in the Angel militia as well as the son to the Lord of Angels. He has suffered from a lack of intimacy for more than a mellinnia, or at least until the empress of Mysth arrives to their domain under the premise of marrying his brother, who is King. Rose is a fey princess who has bartered by her own father under the guise of keeping the peace with the Angel warriors. In hopes that they will not have to battle and ultimately lose their home, land and lives to the Angels. Each character is presented in this book, from both POV, inclusively each has an ulterior motive or plot to overtake or destroy one another. There are no true grammatical errors and the plot presents promise for a good story. I would have liked it to have a better conclusion as opposed to the drop off and would have given it a higher rating if I was so shocked.
