This book would be a great read for the age group it's aimed at......even I enjoyed it. The characters are interesting and the storyline just complex enough to keep you guessing.
Wonderfully written and captivating, but more so for the intended audience. The characters were a little too undeveloped and nondescript. I typically struggle with most middle grade series, but enjoyed the nonetheless.
Skyfire begins The Seven Signs series where seven young people are entangled in a dangerous and compelling mystery that puts the whole world in danger. It is fun, fast-paced and full of action.
Seven young people have entered a competition that is set to change their lives. As the winners, they are granted the chance to work with the internet and technology king Felix Scott. They are gifted the latest in phone technology, rides aboard space-skimmers and even one million dollars. But as they are named winners they become targets for a cruel and dangerous plot to destroy the world. They each receive a sign, which together they must decode before terror is unleashed on the world.
This was a fun book to read. At first, being introduced to seven main characters at once was a little overwhelming but I soon had them sorted in my mind. Each of the seven is from a different continent and bring a variation in language, culture and background. The technology in this book is advanced, but not unbelievable, making a very cool addition to this story.
This book also includes map chapter headings, and a few illustrations to bring the symbols and countdown to life.
A tension-filled ending (almost a cliffhanger) will have readers eager for the next book in the series. And, luckily for those keen readers, this series will have a rapid release with all seven books released within 13 months.
This is a fantastic book for readers who like a bit of mystery, danger and adventure with their action.
This book should be on everyone's list of books to get. There is never a dull moment from a character in a intense motorbike chase to chasing supposed criminals. The book does go a bit overboard with the words for the Australian character and the American but you don't notice it much. The book is about seven kids from seven continents who get sent seven symbols and they have to work out the meaning before time runs out. There is also a really cool competition where you have to design a symbol and you can win some awesome prizes and get your name and symbol displayed in the back of the seventh book. Overall it doesn't matter if your reading 1,5,9 or 10 books you have to read this book. I was actually really lucky and got to meet the author of the book and got to hear about how he actually travelled to other countries to make sure he gets all the details. I also got my book signed :D
This book is a very thrilling cliffhanger that makes use of histories and legends, such as Zeus' Thunderbolt. In this story, 7 lucky DARE winners win the opportunity to travel around the world with each other and the world's first trillionaire, Felix Scott. However, their lives are thrust into danger as Jackal threatens to kill Yasmin, Andy and Dylan are going to be arrested and deemed untrustworthy, and the Great Pyramid Of Giza is destroyed by an Egyptian fighter plane. Will they survive?
As an adult, I enjoyed reading the first of seven in The Seven Signs series. My 13 yr old is reading them after me. I found the start a little slow, but halfway through, it perked my interest a lot more. It's exciting and intriguing and I am definitely no match for the seven young DARE winners brain power!! Glad they are working on the signs, not me!!
This book made me feel incredible reading it! It is packed full of adventures and when it finished, I couldn’t wait to start reading the rest of them which I now have! Micheal Adam’s is an outstanding author!
Friggen love this series! I strongly recommend it to anyone who has not read it. And Michael Adams would be a friggen genius when it comes to future technology shit
When you win a worldwide competition, you don’t expect to find yourself fighting for your life, wondering if conspiracy theories are true. Yasmin lives within sight of the pyramids at Giza. As she tried to fly to receive her prize deadly thugs break into her family shop and threaten her. Why do they want to kidnap her? Andy and Dylan meet at the awards ceremony. Andy has a fake Australian accent and Dylan an awful American accent. They become friends immediately. Andy has on online news service Scoop. What do they post that makes their lives very tricky? Zander is Greek and another winner. He doesn’t trust Andy at all. Zander lives with his grandfather who recognises a weird symbol Zander has been sent. Isabel from Colombia and Mila from Chile are both staying at Isabel’s home when they receive weird symbols too. Park Jae-joon, or JJ is from South Korea and wonders about his symbol. A plane fires a missile into a pyramid at Giza and Cairo is thrown into chaos before the group of seven can work out what their weird symbols mean. The clock resets and is heading for zero again. Where is the next disaster? I enjoyed the character mix. The beginnings of a mysterious series. Recommended for MG 10+
Let's start off with the start. I'll say it outright. The whole concept of the DARE awards is ridiculous. Like, come on. Surely you don't expect only seven kids to be cool enough to have ideas to save the world? The writing was bad. The characters were bad and their relationships with the other DARE winners felt forced and unnatural. However, despite this bad beginning, I kinda liked it for how bad it was. Idk man, I was just enjoying the badness of it all, and that's why it's three stars. So... yeah.
This first book in the series is suspenseful and action-packed with plenty of riddles and sets up a nice cliffhanger for the next book. Seven teenagers who have won a prestigious competition find themselves embroiled in an unfolding catastrophe that threatens to destroy the world. A mystery person is feeding them the only clues that will help to prevent full blown disaster. It's a great read for the age group and I am hoping the characters are further developed in the following books
The Seven Signs Series is an amazing series with twists and turns on every page. If you like mystery and thriller, then this is definitely the series for you. I would highly recommend this series to anyone interested. The story takes on seven lucky teenagers who won the famous dare awards, but then a series of strange messages and a website they receive point to a series of attacks that threaten to destroy the world.
This series was recommended by my son, who loved the action and the challenges throughout. From this first book, he was on the edge of his seat. Having read this book myself, I can highly recommend it for late primary school children. If your child loves fast-paced action, this book is for them. Full of suspense, it will keep them wanting more. Read the book with them, they will love it!
I like the mystery/puzzles but I can't see any surprises in this. :( and the switching of POVs is too mUCH (+ the introduction of 7 characters are too overwhelming xD) but oh well... it's nice I guess...
3.5 stars (I seriously wish Goodreads would do half-stars) This one surprised me! It was quite slow at the start, but as I got into it more I found that it was a very enjoyable read. I'm a sucker for awesome cliffhangers, so I'm excited to read the next one!
Amazing, book, would definitely recommend. The only thing I don't like is the stereotypical Australian speech that Dylan has. As I am from Australia, I can confirm that not everyone says "G'day mate". But apart from that, amazing book, one of my favourites.
A good read moving fast within and between each short chapter. Like a tv script jumping from one character to the other. Characters well defined. Can imagine it going on for another six novels. Kids winning amazing prizes from trillionaire tech guy with clever ideas. Lots of tech gadgets.
As the 7 winners of a prestigious award come together, they soon realize everything is not what it seems, who can they trust and what have they got themselves into by winning the competition.
This is the Da Vinci Code for Teens and I was unable to stop reading this once I started!!
One of the first books I ever enjoyed, I do hood this in my heart very deeply. The story is captivating from beginning to end. I love how it’s written and how suspenseful it got at times. Super intrigued.
This book is AMAZING! I recommend it to anyone that is currently able to get this book, every detail about this book is perfect, this is literally my new favorite book at first it was wolf girl but this has overtaken it and more! seriously stop reading this and get the book already!
This is a great book. It is a quick read but has a great storyline. I do like a little romance in book that is why I gave it 4/5. I finished 1 book in about one hour.
