The first time Anna tried to read a romance novel, her hair caught on fire when she leaned over a candle to sneak a peek at her mom’s Harlequin. She thinks being hit on the head with a shirtless Fabio until the smoke cleared is what sparked the flame for her love of romance.
Anna was born in Wisconsin, but currently lives in Texas with her husband and two boys. She writes sexy romance that always has a happy ending and loves bringing characters back for cameos. Less than six degrees of separation connects any of her novels.
When she’s not writing or reading, she’s watching reruns of her favorite romcoms, talking to her dog and cat like they’re human, eating carbs, or practicing hand lettering.
She loves to hear from readers and can be found on social media as @annabrooksauth everywhere.

Oh man. I found myself laughing a lot. Trouble is, it's definitely not supposed to be funny. I finally had to quit when the hero got into a sissy-fight with a sleazeball and everyone was simply appalled! because the sleaze is such a great guy that they all just love. The thing is, I couldn't take any of these jokers seriously. It's like if you had a family that plays Uno every night with a deck passed on from Great Grandma—so overplayed that it's worn thin and hard to take seriously. I mean, we get a huge info-dumped tragic backstory delivered to a complete stranger because she "saved" him from, um, something something because he was drunk. And then we go into a scene with a get-together where everyone has a single trait like bad actors in an improv class. The whole thing was awkward and I hadn't even gotten to the instalove that loomed over the story like a pterodactyl over the prehistoric Serengeti. And now I'm just entertaining myself with tortured similes and should probably just give it that one-star it earned and move on, already...

I wanted to like this book. It had a great plot and the characters were people I could really get behind. I wanted them to get their HEA. But there were just too many plot holes for it to be believable to me.

Because of all this, Charlotte is completely alone to make stupid decisions and events happen in the book to drive the plot. But it all seemed too contrived and unbelievable to me. It made me want to bash my head against the wall. It kinda ruined the whole story. And Travis has a serious drinking problem. I kept waiting for the author to address it and she never did. He drinks too much and even admits it. When he drinks he makes really really really bad decisions. I wish something had been done about that.

So for all these reasons I can't really recommend this book. It had a great idea but the execution was just off for me.

The angsty-ish romance I was in the mood for, but with a few sticking points.

- Slut shaming: A character called Britney exists solely to be slut shamed and, apart from that slut shaming is shitty anyway, Travis had sex with her so what does that make him? The heroine also labels another woman who she - wrongly - believes Travis is having an affair with a slut. Again, if we're going to be calling someone a slut in this scenario, it should be him. Oh and Travis literally says that women he's had sex with other than the heroine were meaningless, the means to end. I wonder if they signed up to be labelled as sex toys not human beings.

- The sob stories: I was in the mood for a bit of angst. What I was not in the mood for was a book where every character had a dozen sob stories to their name.

- The frequent use of adjectives where there should have been adverbs.

- The hero constantly nagging the heroine to talk to him - fair enough - and then shutting her down every time she does.

- General grammatical and syntactical errors.

- Inconsistencies: the close knit family that don't do anything to help. Oh and is Chinese food her favourite or his? Do make up your mind!

All of these things cap the rating at three stars despite the read being mostly enjoyable.

Please keep in mind that this is my review and it probably isn't what you would think If you read this one.

I'm so damn happy this was a freebie... There are only a few authors that can make me enjoy an Insta story! And this one isn't one of them..

It was just all too soon like unbelievable too soon. Like ALL the things. I had a lot of moments that I just wanted to stop reading and wanted to pull my hair out and scream at the world.. Does that seem like overreacting? Maybe but I just felt so damn bad reading it..

I'm not one that likes to dnf but I'm also one that learned in the hard way that life is to short to read things you don't like. But it's so hard..

Overall the story is probably a good one, but just not for me.
So I'm not going to read the others..

When Travis Parker met Charlotte Kelly for the first time, he knew she was a light at the end of a dark tunnel. Travis had been hanging on by a loose thread after a life altering moment shattered his world, but Charlotte is quickly becoming his everything until he finds out some of it is a lie.

Four years later Charlotte returns to Wisconsin and Travis knows she is back. Charlotte is not the same woman he remembers, she seems frail and is hiding something. What Travis doesn't know is that Charlotte is afraid she will lose him once again once he learns the truth.

Never underestimate the strength of true love. I thought this was a wonderful story, at times it is hard because you see that both Travis and Charlotte are hurting but it makes for a powerful read. Look forward to reading more form this author in the future.

Make Me Forget by Anna Brooks is a tale of a love that stands the test of time and the lessons that life throws at you in the face of one tragedy after another. This book was make you shed a tear at times but will also make you smile and cheer for Charlotte or Char as her friends and family call her; for the reader can see her grow throughout the book, becoming stronger than she was when it started all the while reclaiming a life that was taken from her through manipulation. This was a 3.5 star read for me and I would recommend it to others.

"It's about how you feel. he should make you feel dizzy, like you want to faint, but is there to catch you when you fall."

Charlotte meets Travis, a much older guy, while on vacation in her hometown of Wisconsin. Never did she think that she would meet the love of her life while preventing him from drowning in his drunken state. Spending every moment with him the rest of her time on the lake, all Travis wants from the only girl to capture his attention and maybe even his heart is honesty. Harboring the guilt from an event from him past, makes a honesty in any relationship something that he is unable to live without. The little white lie that Charlotte tells Travis could tear them apart forever; or bond them in their love. Only time will tell.

After 5 years apart, the deaths of both of her parents and walking away from a horribly abusive relationship, Charlotte returns home to Wisconsin to be with her family. Not ready to see Travis just yet, she swears her cousin to secrecy, making sure he is unaware of her return. Her entire plan to prepare herself for their first encounter in such a long time is thrown out the window when she gets into a car accident and he is one of the responding firefighters at the scene. Afraid that once he knows the truth of the life she is fighting to free herself from he will never want to see her again; Charlotte tries to push him away in order to protect herself from yet another loss of someone she loves. But Travis has other ideas. He has waited 5 years to see her again and be with her and he refuses to let anything stand in his way; even Charlotte herself.

This book was too much of a lot of things: too cloyingly sweet; too long; too annoying.

I'm gonna start out with the length. I honestly could have done without the Epilogue or the last two chapters. They were an exercise in torture because they were completely unnecessary. The book could have ended with:

"I'm going to be the perfect wife for you."
"I don't want perfect. I just want you."

I would have been quite happy with it. Frankly, I think the last three chapters weakened an already weak book even further.

Which brings me to my next point: it was too cloyingly sweet. Travis, ugh, calling Charlotte 'sweetheart' so frequently made me want to drink vinegar. There really wasn't much to him, other than anger issues and borderline alcoholism.

Charlotte was just an annoying character. She started strong, and then just fizzled out. Yes, she lived through some horrible things. Yes, we get that she felt guilty and ruined. WE GET IT! No need to keep flogging it. And, not that there's a time limit on healing, but six months after returning home, and being surrounded by family and friends, and with the support of a therapist?

Also, I really could have done without the late-stage OW drama.

“It’s only ever been you.”

3.5 Uber angsty stars!

Anna Brooks is one of my go-to authors for passionate romances brimming with intense angst, raw emotion and swoony alpha heroes who make you melt! MAKE ME FORGET(Some Kind of Personal bk 1), a beautifully written story about kindred spirits who discover love against all odds, struck a deep emotional chord in me and had an abundance of FEELS!.

In a nutshell, this is the story about Charlotte and Travis, who met when she was 17 when they were both dealing with unspeakable losses. They forged an instant soul-deep connection when the handsome, distraught young man, who was drunk as a skunk and circling the drain, crashed her moment of solitude during a family gathering. Travis was unable to deal with the anniversary of a personal tragedy that shattered his world and her own aching heart connected with his. Somehow she pulled him back from brink of despair and a tender love bloomed between them. But the timing was off for them and they were torn asunder only to meet up again years later to try to pick up where they left off. But secrets, past hurts and deep emotional scars threaten to destroy them yet again.

This book delivered bigtime on HEARTACHY FEELS and the main draw for me was--no big surprise--Travis!! He is a ruggedly sexy dreamboat with a heart of gold, possesses a natural born protective streak and is SO incredibly sweet and caring. There is nothing he won’t do for Charlotte and he truly made me melt!!!! However, in all honesty, despite the romantic allure of this tender-hearted tale, it is not my fave of this author's. The romance started out with a bang but kind of fizzled a bit at the midway mark and I would have liked a little more sizzle throughout.

My main qualm was that Char's deep-seated issues pertaining to severe past trauma involving her scumbag ex dominated too much of the plot and I found myself getting frustrated with the heroine's secrecy, fickle attitude and never=ending insecurity issues. There are a tons of stop-starts and some OTT drama--almost ANGST OVERLOAD!--that hampered my enjoyment of the book and I found their romantic misunderstanding toward the end--and Char's EXTREME overreaction--kind of undermined the trust they worked so hard to establish.
Sheesh! Travis put up with a lot of Charlotte's neuroses and truly did have the patience of a saint!

That said, Char and Travis burrowed themselves deeply into my heart, exuded AMAZING chemistry, and a possessed a palpable soul-deep bond that was undeniable! The sex was scintillating, the romance exquisitely sweet, there was simmering tension throughout, and the HEA ending was so beautiful and poignant it made me all weepy! I also loved the close knit connection with all the cousins and adored Travis's sibling camaraderie with his big bro Brandon!

So, despite my issues, I still recommend this book because it was a deeply moving tale about two soulmates overcoming impossible odds and celebrates the healing power of a ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME love. And I kind of have to give the innately talented Anna Brooks a pass on the shortcomings, it WAS an earlier work of hers and her writing has evolved considerably with each new release. Now I am chomping at the bit for Brandon and Mary's story in SHOW ME HOW (Some Kind of Personal bK 2) which was set up seamlessly in this first installment and appears to be another angst filled ride with a plethora of feels!

4 Unforgettable Stars!

Review by Natasha Gentile

When we first meet Charlotte, she is spending the summer in Wisconsin. She is at her cousin’s graduation party, when she meets him. Travis Parker. Stumbling drunk on the beach, he sits, or rather, falls right next to her. Practically right into her lap. Which kind of irritates her. I mean she was sitting all by herself thinking...and boom, hot guy!!

This time when he talks, he’s looking right at me, and I can see his eyes. Damn. They look like the water – perfectly clear and bright blue. Granted, they’re a little bloodshot, but still beautiful. I wonder what they would look like if the sun were shinning down instead of the moon.

So what is a girl to do but help this poor drunk man home, especially after he’s poured out his heart to her. She knows the one secret that he’s keeping. But…

One lie can destroy everything.

After years apart and more loss than one person can possibly handle Charlotte decides to go back to the one place that she knew what happiness was. She know she has to face the one person that she has always loved. She just doesn’t know how to go about it. It seems fate has stepped in, making the decision for her.

“Charlotte.” That voice. Oh, God. I close my eyes and lower my head at the gravely sound that manages to both calm and excite me. I knew I’d see him eventually since I moved back home, but this is not how I planned things. I’m not ready to see him yet.

And if you think time makes feelings go away, you couldn’t have been more wrong.

He puts a finger under my chin and tilts my head up. My eyes collide with his blue ones, and I suck in a breath at the man in front of me. His muscular frame looks even larger in his gear. Although I can’t see his black hair under his helmet, I would bet it’s still shaved close to his scalp. His strong jawline and long, dark lashes make him look like a model. If he were to smile at me, I would see the dimple on his left cheek. He’s not smiling though. He’s looking at me with the same sad eyes I saw the first night I met him.

Travis Parker thought Charlotte was the one for him, till one misunderstanding shattered him leaving him hollow once again. Now she’s back, and the feelings he thought were gone are not only back, but they are back with vengeance. Just one thing, Charlotte isn’t the girl he thinks she is. She is older, she is wiser, and she is broken and empty. Can Travis get her to open up to him and make her forget the sorrows of the past?

I guess I am in minority here, but there was too much drama in this book for me. Between Travis' backstory and what happens to Char's after her mom dies, I felt like the author was pulling too hard on heart strings. I did not finish the book.

This is not your typical love story, it is so much more. Anna Brooks you hooked me in the first chapter and I couldn’t put it down.
Charlotte when she went to her cousins graduation party she had no idea that she was going to meet a guy that had the potential to change her life forever. She was only going to be in town for a couple of weeks before going back to home and to school, so one little lie couldn’t hurt anything, or could it?
Travis has had a difficult time since graduating high school, always dreaming of becoming a firefighter. But his dreams changed after losing his high school sweetheart and their baby. When a gorgeous girl saves him from drowning one night and then he finds her asleep on his couch the next morning he had no idea what to think. He was mesmerized by Charlotte and enjoyed his time with her. But everything changed the day he found out about her lie; he hates liars so he turns his back on Charlotte.
After many tragedies and much heartache Charlotte finally returns back to her hometown, trying to escape her horrible life. She has suffered much loss and torment that require her to begin counseling. She doesn’t feel as though she is good enough to be loved by anyone, that no one will ever want her after everything what she has endured. One fateful day, Charlotte is in a car accident that she shouldn’t have been able to walk away from but she did. Her past comes back into her life and she discovers that things aren’t always as they seem.
This story is very touching. There are parts that are very sad, but you just have to keep reading and not give up hope. The connection that Charlotte and Travis have from the beginning is undeniable. It might even be described as love at first sight. But as we learn no relationship can be built on lies.
Anna Brooks has done a magnificent job in the creating and writing of this story. Some of the surprises that come up caught me off guard and kept me very interested to see where it was going to take me. The characters are so lovable and Travis seems to do a dream come true. I can’t wait to see what you will have in store for us with future books!!!!

"Everything I have is yours,my heart,my home.I know I'm not a millionaire or anything, but I promise you, absolutely nobody will ever love you as much as i do.Thee is no object,no monetary amount, that signifies my love for you. There are no limits on the hell I'd walk through to make sure you were happy"

Charlotte fell for Travis when she was 117 during summer when she went back to texas with her family for summer break.not a few months later she loses her father to a heart attack and her mother a few years later to breast cancer.her mother's doctor took advantage of her abusing her sexually and emotionally till she escapes him and moves back to texas where she meets travis again.that one sentence shows the meaning of true love, what true love is,and should be.i loved the book from start to finish

Loved this. So so loved this. Love Travis. My gosh that man is a swizzle stick of perfection. He's kind, protective, sweet, adorable, gentle and honest. He falls for charlotte without meaning to and even after finding out she lied to him forgives him, does the right thing but also waits for her. He doesn't move so that when charlotte is ready she can still find him. Once these two walk away from another, Charlotte loses her way though. She loses her dad and than her mom falls apart and than she gets in a bad situation out of loneliness. Travis in the meantime is putting his life together so he can be what Charlotte needs. One moment he has his life shattered and he begins to doubt Charlotte ever cared. this has him have a series of one night stands but never does he not think of Charlotte or stop hoping she will return.

Suddenly there she is and Travis can't help but feel so overwhelmed with hope and love. But she is broken and he wants to help. She shuts him down continuously and runs from him. No matter how much patience and love he shows charlotte she doesn't trust Travis and fears he will run. Travis begins to feel that he is the only one trying in the relationship and forces charlottes hand. It hurts him to do this but he needs reassurance as well.

this man is just so amazing. And her cousin Pierce such a sweetie as well. when Travis is finally let into Charlotte's life it is a wonderful moment. than a wrench is thrown into it and a new reveal sends charlotte running. Travis goes after her yet again and now we also see a hint of a romance for travis's brother yeah yeah!!! Again they work things out and things seem perfect but charlotte's insecurities wiggle again. Travis though is wonderful and patient. His love and support is unwavering.

a beautiful story of a man's love being there unconditionally and helping a young woman find her way back and finding that there are people who love her no matter what. A wonderfully written emotionally powerful story that will truly tug at your heart and show you what love true love is.

The concept was interesting, the story was good, but not great, the set up for the next book was a little distracting, and it went on for 3 extra chapters. Stories have a natural end to them and Brooks needed to end the book a lot sooner. Your ending before the epiloug needed to be the lead guy, don't remember his name, going to his exfiance's grave forgiving her for commiting suicide and killing their unborn child, then going to the wedding.
Honestly, the last hurddel with the lead girl running off AGAIN was just too much, I would have said "the hell with her." I almost stopped reading it was just too far, she had had her personal growth moment in the previous chapter and didn't need it again.

Charlotte meets her prince when she is 17, but a little lie tears them apart. Much happens before she sees her prince again...is it time for her HEA or has too much time passed? I really enjoyed this story, but was disappointed in the "close relationship" Charlotte had with her relatives. I guess it only works if you're in the same town. Other than that I did enjoy the story. Travis had a few of his own issues to work on and I was happy to see him offering forgiveness to one of them.

I really enjoyed this book, the characters. there were times where she annoyed me like no other like she needs to just tell him about what happened with Todd. I don't think any normal human being would blame her for that...and if they did then they didn't deserve her anyway. I love Travis. he's such a sweet guy. the story wrapped up perfectly.

Anna Brooks is a new Author to me. I have to say that this lady is an Absolute  Hidden Gem. Her writing is amazing. She has you gripped from start to finish.

A story about Love, True love that touches you deep into your soul. These two are Kids when they meet but they build a bond so unbreakable. It's almost unimaginable but yet for a person like me that fell inlove at 17 I know just how possible it is to find the other Half of your Soul at 17....

Charlotte is young when she meets Travis and she instantly knows and feels the connection between them.. They become close but torn apart because a innocent lie. I really couldn't blame Char for the lie it's something we all do when young it's just some of us have different outcomes....

Travis this guy so young and has already been through a kind of soul crushing hurt, that most men twice his age would never survive but he does. His love for Char will make you feel warm and fuzzy but I also don't blame him for the separation he asked for. As an adult I totally get it and understand it...

4 years later Char comes back to Wisconsin. This Girl comes back Broken and Confused. The shell of the Person she used to be. She comes back this battered emotionally because life has really shredded her. It's an absolute wonder how a girl so young, going through so much didn't just snap and give up on life. It shows you the kind of strengthen she holds and you route for her to get her HEA... That's exactly what she gets when comes back home to Family and Travis.
Travis is a One in a Million kinda guy. This man has been through so much and still waited for Char knowing she may never come back. When she does, he gets a shell of the Person he knew and fell inlove with. Yet this wonderful man sees her, he knows the woman he loves is not dead in there so he Fights and breaks down all her walls, fights her demons, helps her stand and then teaches her she is worthy of love and respect.
Travis loves this woman beyond anything you know and you see it in every, action, touch, word and thought.
I love Watching an Alpha protect and fight for his love.

When these two are together they make you swoon, you wish you  or a sister or a friend finds love like this.
These two together is beautiful, hot and oh so magical. Magical cos you know these two both deserve all the happiness in the world and you know that they finally found it.
Travis found it and you are so proud of him for seeing past all the bullcrap and still hold onto her.

This book was an amazing start to the series and I'm so glad I have the next book waiting to be read because you fall inlove with all the side characters. So I can't wait to see where this brilliant Author takes us to next.
Grab this book ladies. And some of you may need tissues..
ENJOY!!!!

This story was so touching and just WOW I loved it. I didn't really expect the range of emotions I felt during this story but they were there in full force ripping me apart and putting me back together.

The opening leaves you hanging , right from the start , holy heck what is she going through. But this story then goes back to the past before we get to those moments so you have to hang on for the answers , NICE PLAY !! The time frames are marked so be sure to pay attention to them !! Charlotte is spending time in Wisconsin with her family for her cousins graduation and vacation. She is kept on a short leash by her parents since her sisters death so having some freedom is nice for her. At the party she meets up with a lost soul , desperate for happiness or release , totally drunk and considering possibly ending his life ?? Charlotte of course rescues Travis and here starts their relationship. They have a few blissful weeks together before 1 lie ruins it all.

Travis is a lost soul. He has been struggling for years with his loss and guilt of not being there. When he meets Charlotte and realizes that his life is worth something more than misery he decides to move on and finally look for the light. He is such a great guy and he is honest and open which just makes him so swoon worthy !! Their connection runs deep but Charlotte has a secret. Their chemistry is super hot but being together may cause problems beyond Travis' control. Can Travis let Charlotte go as he claims he has to ??

During their years apart Charlotte suffers much loss and also suffers through a horribly weird relationship. I mean this is crazy and I feel heartbroken that she was so lost she craved love so much that she accepted this sick and twisted treatment. There are reasons that come up to prevent both Charlotte and Travis from going to one another and sadly they both missed out on years due to simple understandings that could have been easily cleared up. Face to face years later they have to decide if their love is worth fighting for or if what they felt years ago was nothing. This part of their journey , of actually trying to be together and overcome their fears and pasts is not easy. They face many hurdles and a few shockers get thrown in there !! I was so excited with the way this story went and I am hoping to get more from this author about a few characters out of this story !! At times I wanted to cry , at other times I was so annoyed with their actions I wanted to smack them around !! I was turned on by Travis and his wonderful dirty mouth !! I was also on the edge of my seat when secrets came out !! So happy I was able to read this book !!

Make Me Forget is the first book in the It's Kind Of Personal Series. This story is about how lies can shattered a beautiful relationship and how distance can make things worse. This story tore at my heart strings and slowly mended them back together along the journey that Charlotte and Travis endure. I would give this story a 3.5-4 stars. I would recommend this book to others and look forward to more from this author.

Charlotte had the most amazing summer of her life and met the man of her dreams Travis. She never thought at the age of seventeen that you could find your one true love but she did, but the only problem was she lied to Travis and when the truth comes out it will shatter everything. Charlotte through the next few years has to live with great tragedy of losing her parents... and she also puts herself in a relationship that is not normal and she is gets abused. When she finally finds the strength to move away from it all she will end up back where it all started.. back where Travis is...but she doesn't know that Travis never forgot about her... he has been waiting for her to come back so he can make things right... but with all the lies and deceit will these 2 be able to pick up where they left off before the lies tore them apart?

Travis has dealt with his own tragedies and when he meets Charlotte he feels like his life finally turned around but when a huge lie breaks them apart he is hopeless once again... but he vows to himself he will fight for her while chasing his dream of being a firefighter. When he discovers she moved on with her life he has to make the decision to move on himself... but one day when he discovers an accident years later and Charlotte is apart of it his life will spiral again and all the feelings they had for each other will surface again... but will it be enough?

"I was just thinking how I missed out on three years of happiness with you."- Charlotte
"It's sucks, doesn't it? I think about that, too, but we're together now. That's all that matters. Our future is going to kick ass, sweetheart. We're indestructible together; Romeo and Juliet ain't got shit on us."- Travis

Charlotte (love the name) tugged at my heart strings. She grew up with a loving family, then lost them all and had to figure out how to grow up very quickly at a young age. She took on a lot and managed to handle it all, until she got taken advantage of and lost it all. When she returns to Wisconsin and finds Travis again I knew that she would be okay. But oh my gosh, it was an extremely long road for her. The struggles she goes through are something no woman or man should have to deal with, yet she shows her strength and her determination. While struggling to let go of her past, Charlotte finds something much stronger, safer, and wonderful.

Travis is a hero. He is alpha male, firefighter, and a lover. He knows that if he is to hold on to the love of his life he has to find patience and understanding beyond what a normal person has. While being with Charlotte is all he wants, he knows that it has to be on her terms, which for an alpha male is almost impossible to handle. While taking everything thrown at him in stride, I am glad that Anna Brooks let him lose it once in a while and be a real man.

Make Me Forget is a story with two wonderful characters that are absolutely perfect for each other. They are truly each other’s real love. I could not stop reading and thinking about this story. It is a beautiful story, touching on a few tough subjects. I absolutely recommend this book and cannot wait to read more from Anna Brooks.

This author is very new to me, and when asked to read and review this book, I really didn't know what to expect. I'm super happy I got to read this one. The writing is great. The storyline is even better. I love, love, love the characters of Char and Travis. Travis is one hot, hot, hot, but sweet, sweet, sweet hero. Really, I don't think Ms. Brooks could have made him anymore lovable than she did. And Char, oh sweet and innocent Char, was also written to perfection. My one and only complaint is how it jumps from 6 months ago to then 4 years ago then onto 2 years ago then present day. I totally understand and appreciate that we got to see their lives throughout the years, but I just wish it would have started at the 4 yrs ago then 2 yrs and so on. It didn't turn me off to the book by any means and really it wasn't hard to follow at all. I just would have liked less jumping around. Now when the book gets to present day and you see the struggles that Char has had to endure, you will immediately fall in love with her and be rooting for Travis to be her fairy tail prince. Travis is the man that I think everyone will want. He is the epitome of a perfect book boyfriend for sure. This was a 4.25 AMAZEBALLS stars for me. A copy was gifted in exchange for an honest review.

The premise of this story was really interesting. This story was started off with 2 people who were perfect for each other meeting at the right place but the wrong time. After an initial lie that set these two on a course that was separate from each other, they finally ended up being in the same town, 4 years later and both of them have changed. And its a story about their journey back to each other.

Usually I love a good old angsty romance but I have finally reached the limit where there is too much angst. It was hit after hit of angst and at one point, I just wanted it to stop since, it reminded me of when a c.d player gets stuck and skips over the same spot over and over again. I did think Char came across as a teenager sometimes but when I think of her past circumstances then it makes sense. Travis was incredibly patient that I worried if he was in love with her for the wrong reasons. Did the hero have a "hero complex"? Despite having a great plot, I think the multiple angst scenes detracted from the story. There was a line where the hero can't believe that he is in love with a kind, loving, caring and beautiful woman and I wonder who is he talking about since we didn't get to see that side of Char in the book since she was recovering from her tense past.

Charlotte Kelly was spending her summer holidays with her family in Wisconsin. She meets Travis Parker at a family BBQ and they have an instant connection. Travis is mourning when he meets 3.5 .
Charlotte and finds it hard to trust people but she quickly becomes his everything, he can’t understand why but is so thankful for Charlotte. Until he finds out not all of what she has told him has been the truth.
After 4 years of loss, being hurt and loneliness Charlotte returns to Wisconsin to try and rebuild herself and return from a very dark place. Travis finds out she is back but soon realizes she isn’t the same girl he once knew but his feelings are as strong as ever.
I totally loved Travis and his passion and how positive he was about his relationship with Charlotte who at times really frustrated me with her constant running away, it drove me crazy! In saying this I was totally rooting for both Travis and Charlotte. This book brought tears to my eyes, and I’m so glad that there was no cliffhanger in this book and I am looking forward to reading book 2 in this series.
I give this book a 3.5 stars.
