Calan MacLeod and Angela Davis burst into each other’s lives like skyrockets. Love at first sight can be a heady experience, but can it last? This is the challenge both women face as they link arms and determine to face the world together. Step by step, day by day, they face each new obstacle, confused and doubtful friends and family, together. Each as fully committed to making the relationship work, grow more loving, as the other. In this way they hope to succeed and become a beacon of hope for others.

Ordinary people are capable of remarkable feats given the right set of circumstances and these days, maybe more than ever, we all need more everyday heros.

The stories I love best are ones in which I could see at least a part of myself and that is actually the starting point of many of my stories. I am an observer. I love to people watch! I can’t help but notice what makes an ordinary person stand out to me and I can’t resist building stories around those unique character sketches.

The stories I least like are ones where the “hero” remains tormented and without resolution even at the end of a book. If I wanted reality, I’d have watched TV. Good fiction should entertain, and have a momentum of its own that carries rather than drags the reader along. My stories are intended to transport the reader away from the stresses of their day-to-day lives, and to sweep them up into a different world where people much like themselves overcome challenges and have remarkable adventures.

My goal is to write stories that inspire people to be their own everyday hero; to imagine new possibilities for themselves and perhaps change the course of their own story. I invite you to join me on the adventure.

This story follows the typical MacLeod layout of a great love story that happens quick with beautiful insights woven in! This is the first in a series and the only one I've read so far. It follows Calan a power lifter who has a dark past and strives to help others and Angela a psych student finishing her masters. Some of my favorite quotes/insights from this book that made me stop and think are:

"If sharing an emotion lessens the emotion, wouldn't the same be true for any other emotion?... No, that's not it, if sharing the pain increased our sense of well being, sharing the joy should make us feel wonderful. The sharing lessens nothing; it just makes us feel better no matter what we share."

"Sharing or creating a joy makes you feel better therefore creating a sorrow will surely make you feel bad on some level, even if it gives you a victory. That bad feeling would lessen the joy you feel in your life and rob any success of its sweetness. It would diminish us to harm another."

"Have you ever noticed how people who are always complaining are always frowning?Notice how folks who are always cheerful are always smiling and enjoying life? Coincidence? I trhink not. So which comes first, the frown or the complaing, the cheery words or the smile?"
