I was excited to sign up for this blog tour. Traci Abramson has always been an author I've enjoyed reading. Her books are probably what I would call romantic suspense and they are clean. That's a great combination in my opinion.

The books starts with a bit of foreshadowing- and look into the evil that is to come. It gave me a little shutter of dread. Then we are immediately transported to Las Vegas with friends getting together for a wedding. Devin and Grace are reconnected after many years apart. I got pulled into their whirlwind re-connection and romance. It was such a drastic change from the first bit of the book. But I couldn't forget that evil blip at the beginning.

Then the plot just takes over and things go crazy. I didn't know who to trust. I felt anxious and wondered how Devin was going to get out of the mess he was in. It was so good. I loved the varied settings as well. I was never in one place for too long but each place rang true and I could easily picture what was going on.

I read this book in one day. Actually, it was more like half a day. I just couldn't put it down. I love when that happens!

Content: some violence

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Devin and Grace, his high school girlfriend, have a quick wedding after being reunited and life couldn't be more perfect--until Devin gets his master's degree and finds himself on assignment in Hong Kong, halfway around the world from his new wife. And the worst part is, he can't even tell her what he's really doing.

There's no way that I could handle the life of a spy, but I sure love reading about these suspenseful situations. It's ironic that I've recently learned of a few friends who have had secrets in their marriages. Secrets can be harmful and they can be bad, but who would think they could be downright dangerous? As Devin struggles to uncover who wants him dead, Grace is dealing with an intense situation of her own. This book had me on the edge of my seat and what makes it that much better is that these characters are real and normal, just everyday people. The thought that this could really happen is creepy, but that's what hooked me and reeled me in.

As the suspense reaches it's climax, I was still grasping at straws for a motive and a suspect. Although clues are given along the way, I couldn't make things connect in my mind, which is what I absolutely love about a mystery suspense thriller. I love this author's work and wasn't disappointed with this story at all. Bring on the next one soon, please!

Content: mild violence (attempted murder, kidnapping, etc); mild romance (kissing, mild innuendo).

Traci Hunter Abramson is one of my favorite authors so I knew I would have to start this when I had time to keep reading until I was done! It starts out with Devin and Grace unexpectedly reuniting after being apart for six years. They still have strong feelings for each other and decide to get married. Their trials start immediately and there are several complications that threaten to tear them apart.

I loved both Devin and Grace! Devin couldn't tell Grace what he really did for a living so, of course, that caused confusion and hurt feelings. I felt bad for Grace as she was trying to figure out what was happening. And for Devin who knew he was hurting Grace but was powerless to stop it. In addition to the danger, they have family issues to deal with, which made for some uncomfortable and dramatic scenes.

I loved the pacing of this book! It starts out with a whirlwind romance with some foreshadowing of the danger to come. There was plenty of mystery and suspense and I couldn't put it down until I knew the whole story. This is a book that Traci Hunter Abramson fans will enjoy! And, if you haven't read any of her books, it's a great one to start with!

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, which did not affect my review in any way.

Suspense, action, romance, international spying are some of the things you will find in this book.

For me the most compelling part is a young couple in love. They are doing their best to keep together a long distance marriage. The emotional toll drew me in. They desperately want to be together while outside forces try to draw them apart. They fight to survive and be together again.

Traci Hunter Abramson knows how to write suspense. She keeps the adrenaline high and the reader highly motivated to turn the page, even when you know sleep is really a good idea. (Yes, this book is hard to put down.)

This book is romantically clean, but contains violence.

A chance meeting at a Vegas planned wedding elopement of friends leads two high school sweethearts to reminisce and marry unexpectedly themselves the same night. But Grace has no idea that Devin, her new husband, has secrets that could possibly tear them apart. He has pledged the next five years of his life to the CIA and right after graduation from Stanford must take off for Hong Kong on an assignment he cannot reveal to his wife. When months go by and they do not connect, Grace wonders if he really loved her or not. Was Vegas just a whim for Devin, or has something happened to keep the man she loves from communicating with her?

This was an action-packed thriller with lots of heart-tugging and intrigue that made it hard to put down. Once I started, I wanted to figure out what would happen to Devin and Grace when forces beyond their control became consumed with bending them to their wills or destroying them in whatever method necessary. Warning: This was definitely a story that wreaked havoc on my nails as I chewed, gnawed and picked away to vent my fear and anxiety for the characters. Though action-packed with violent characters, there is nothing gruesome in it, and it’s clean all the way through. ***I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my fair and honest review.

I enjoyed the story except for the fact that we are asked to believe that a grown man does not know what morning sickness is!? The excuse is that he was an only child...uh, so was I and millions of other onlies but we knew somehow... :D

Well written. I hated the fact he was not there for the WHOLE pregnancy, BUT it mad the story and he more than made up for it at the end. I did figure out who the spy was early on, however, it was still a really good read.

While I loved the tense pacing, the hero bothered me. He's a little too shallow, selfish, and dim-witted for me to really like him. But the heroine is pretty great, so I'm still giving it 3.25 stars.

It was a good action adventure novel, but for some reason I didn't love it. I think I figured it out later. There are no flaws in the main characters, they are perfect. I couldn't relate to them at all. Not with my insecurities and clumsy slow thinking ways.

High school sweethearts Devin and Grace meet in Las Vegas for their friends wedding. They realize they still have feelings for each other and secretly get married while in Vegas. Devin's finishing school and has a job and Grace still has a semester to go, so they have to do the long-distance thing for awhile. Devin can't tell Grace he's going to work for the CIA, but he thinks he's getting an office job as an analyst so he isn't worried about it. Surprise!! Devin is assigned a top-secret mission to Hong Kong for 6 months!! He only tells Grace he's going to be in Hong Kong at this firm for 6 months doing finance. Before he knows it Devin's mission turns deadly and he doesn't know who trust besides "Ghost". He can't contact Grace or she won't be safe. Will he and Grace's relationship be able to survive all the half-truths he's told her and the secrets he's kept?

I already knew I could never be a spy, but for Devin to be thrown into this mission without all the training he really needed is crazy. The beginning of the book foreshadows bad things ahead but I didn't think the bad things would come quite so quickly.

Meanwhile, Grace suddenly has to flee her apartment and can't get in touch with Devin to find out what's going on. Thankfully she has a relative that helps her hide out and keep off the grid as much as possible. There are hints as to who the leak is but there's more than one suspect. Hmmm.

Wow!! There's so much suspense in this book. I liked the appearance of Ghost which I knew about from The Guardian series and how he was there to help Devin and Grace. I didn't want to stop listening to the audiobook because I HAD to know what was going to happen. Another great book by Traci Abramson Hunter.

I listened to the audiobook on the Deseret Bookshelf app.

#2 Kept Secrets, by Traci Hunter Abramson is an immensely exciting piece about a pair of high-school sweethearts who reconnect as adults. Devin is in college getting his master’s degree, and while at a roommate's wedding, he finds his high-school girlfriend. They realize they love each other, and secretly get married. Devin has just recently been accepted into the CIA, and he has to go on an assignment to Hong Kong. His job is a secret, so Grace, his wife, can’t know why he is going. This really stresses their marriage. This book was an emotional roller coaster for me. I really liked it, but sometimes I felt frustrated, excited, and pretty much any other emotion. The view was from both of the main character’s views. I feel that this was necessary because they were very far apart, so different things were happening at different times. There were times when Devin was in spy meetings and it was slightly boring for me. Even with this, I really liked when Devin went undercover because it excited me. Sometimes, I could connect with Grace, even though I’ve never been married. I felt her disappointment when she couldn’t see Devin, because I have been disappointed before. I understood where she was coming from even better than Devin. This book is valuable because it teaches to be strong and patient, while also informing the reader about the CIA. I think that the theme for this book is a lesson for everyone. If you are patient, you will be rewarded. Grace has to be patient for Devin to come home to her. Devin has to be patient to go home to Grace. This book had a very interesting plot line, and I would gladly read it again.

Devin plans to work for the CIA after finishing his MBA program. After meeting up with a former girlfriend at a friend's wedding, everything changes. Things develop quickly between Grace and Devin and they end up eloping. Interestingly, this complicates everything when Devin discovers that the CIA plans to send him to Hong Kong under cover. But Devin is determined to make his marriage work, but when his cover is blown he is forced to disappear leaving Grace hanging. Abramson has created an interesting plot here with Devin's work for the CIA and the Chinese efforts to turn him into a double agent complicate things. The romance and commitment between Grace and Devin are refreshing in the face of the challenges they face and the suddenness of their elopement.

I enjoyed getting to know Grace and Devin and following along as they wrestled with their own choices as well as the choices of those around them. Some of those choices put both Grace and Devin in jeopardy and create some real tension in the book. This book manages to be both clean and suspenseful which makes for a fun read.

“Kept Secrets” is a fast pace, thrilling adventure! Devin and Grace cross paths at a friends wedding and spontaneously decide to get married when they realize they still have feelings for each other after all those years. However, Devin doesn’t tell his new wife about his undercover CIA job and within weeks of being married they are already living in different areas trying to make their new marriage work.

When something happens that leads Grace to disappear, Devin needs to decide who he can trust and whether or not to include his new wife in his life and job.

I could not put this book down!! It was a clean, dramatic story with some romance which kept my interest from beginning to end. I would highly recommend this novel!

I really believe that authors are stepping it up this year!
This book is SO GOOD! And so well written!

Just when you think you have it all figured out a twist is thrown at you--making you read even faster to figure out if you've really figured it out.

LOVED this one! Loved the beginning, the middle, and the end! This is one you are going to want to read and read and read. You won't put it down until the last page is turned--and then you will want even more!

I highly recommend this book!

Another fairly good CIA based spy novel by Abramson. This one is a bit different because while the protagonists are moral and upstanding individuals, they are not Mormon unlike in most of her books. Also there is a romance, but the story is more about making a marriage work instead of a long lead-up to a marriage proposal. The suspension of disbelief is still a bit hard to come by just because the situations seem quite fantastic and maybe far-fetched, but it's a good way to while away some driving hours.

This was a fantastic read. The first chapter sucked me in as did the second. However, the renewed relationship between Devin and Grace was fun to read but I found myself wondering when we'd get back to the suspense side of things. Once Devin moved abroad, things moved at a good pace and kept turning pages. It is an exciting, page turned that any suspense lover will thoroughly enjoy. I highly recommend it.

DNF

Picture this: A guy and a girl date for about 6 months in high school. The guy ends up dumping her because "he's not ready for anything serious" but she also doesn't fit "the image of who he wants to take to prom." (She was a little on the bigger side). But he regrets his choices into his adulthood because she was "the only one he ever loved." Due to this his relationships continue not to last too long and his most recent one ended a few weeks previous. Then he runs into his old high school girlfriend and sparks ignite once again. It does not take long (literally maybe a few hours to a day or so) they are holding hands and he's kissing her on the forehead.

(Side note: If a guy kisses me on the forehead and we're not dating, he'd better be about to confess his undying love for me. haha)

And marriage is not far behind on our two characters journey. And that is where I stopped. I understand that this was a "whirlwind romance" moment but this was akin to the tornado that whipped Dorothy out of Kansas. Their feelings for each other made no sense. They dated for SIX MONTHS in HIGH SCHOOL and he dumped her because she didn't "fit the look." I get the dumb teenage mindset to a certain extent because teenagers can be shallow. HOWEVER, she apparently was so amazing he's never forgotten her...? And they reunite after YEARS of not seeing each other and the sparks are flying?

*deep breath* Okay rant over. I usually enjoy Traci Hunter Abramson's books but I couldn't get more than 20 pages in (Yes, this all takes place in that time frame). I understand that there was more to the story later on but insta-love is a hard thing for me to look past especially in how this one was written.

But other people really like this book so maybe I don't understand how love and relationships work. (Or maybe the thriller aspect I didn't really get to was so good the insta-love could be overlooked).

I've loved every book I've read by this author but this one really stood out. Marrying on a whim was one thing, but then Devin goes to Hong Kong on a CIA mission and does not tell Grace was crazy. Then Grace finds out she is pregnant, with twins no less, just as the bad guys from Hong Kong come to find her at her New York apartment. She is wise in how she gets out of town and ends up in Colorado. Devin sure had lots of close calls before he finally makes it out of Hong Kong just to be found in San Francisco and hunted down. Ghost appeared just at the right time in all the tight spots Devin found himself in. I had pegged Jun as the informant (Devin's childhood nanny), but she ended up being the one to save the babies by getting them to hospital security. Maureen (Devin's father's assistant) was the mole. Once again, Ghost appears at the hospital and is caught this time with a gun to his head. Thanks to Devin learning Mandarin, he told Ghost to duck when he said go. Maureen is killed and Devin goes back to the ranch to be with Grace and the babies. I think one reason I really liked this book was I had twins so could relate to Grace's experiences as she talked about doctor appointments and her belly being bigger than normal. This is a fast paced thriller that kept me turning the pages as fast as I could go. I read it in a day and an evening, that's how much I liked it.

The book titled "Kept Secrets" by Traci Hunter Abramson was a really interesting book. High school sweethearts, Devin Shanahan and Grace Harringtron are reunited after spending six years apart, and are immediately married. after they get married, they both finish school in different states, and are looking forward to being in the same state, after graduation. That wish, although, does not come true as quickly as they would like. Devin has a secret. His new assignment from the CIA to spend six months in Hong Kong alone starts them both on an adventure that neither one of them had planned. My favorite character was probably Devin. He had to be really strong to not tell Grace what he was doing. I also really liked Grace. She has a great personality, and she she is an amazing person. My favorite part of the book, was definitely the beginning, when Devin keeps on asking Grace to marry him. He is was very straight forward, and skipped right to the point. Over all, Kept Secrets by Traci Hunter Abramson, was a really good book full of romance, action, and suspense. I would recommend reading this book.

Abramson is one of my favorite writers for clean romances, often with a spy or military elements. This book has no religious references (unlike many of her LDS novels). It is also a stand alone story. Devin and Grace meet six years after dating in high school and get married almost instantly. But Devin has been recruited to work for the CIA which sends him off on an assignment to Hong Kong which he can't tell his new wife about. Of course things don't go smoothly. I liked the characters, they were believable and smart. Fast paced and some twists, although I figured out the inside mole. Fun read to start the summer.

Grace and Devin meet up again after 6 years and find that the spark they had in high school is still strong so they decide to elope. Unfortunately Devin's work in the CIA is top secret and so he can't explain to Grace why he has been assigned to Hong Kong for 6 months and why she can't come along. Devin's life and by extension, Grace's come to be in danger. There is a fair amount of action and fleeing to get away, plus figuring out who is guilty. Naturally it all works out in the end for a happy ever after, which is what we like. ;) It was a nice distraction.

Another good one

Anyone who follows me knows that this author is my favorite. I've had many sleepless nights because of her imagination and skill as a writer!
That said, I was surprised to find myself having a hard time getting into this story or connecting to the characters. I admit it was hard to keep going at points. But then Ghost showed up and everything changed. I wanted to know which one (never found out) and of course Ghost only shows up when things go south, so once that happened another night of little sleep was in my future. Traci's skill at suspense is undeniable and I couldn't put it down until all was well.

What a rollercoaster. The Vegas part at the beginning wasn't my favorite, but as soon as they were married, I really got into the story. I was jaw dropping shocked at his parents behavior. I was stunned at the change in his job description and the subsequent time away from his new bride. The end seemed a little rushed, but it kept me guessing til the last page. I loved Ghost's character and the patriotism I feel when I read Abramson's books. The ending was satisfying and tender. This was a clean read appropriate for any age.

I should have trusted Traci Hunter Abramson that I would like this one as much as all her others! I just stressed over the plot every time I read the blurb, that I avoided it for a long while. Then I decided to trust her and go for it. I wasn't disappointed. While mostly realistic, the main characters trusted each other enough to wait out the struggles, and it worked out beautifully in the end. Even things you couldn't see working out did okay. And the "bad guys" aren't always predictable in her books. 😌 Thanks for another winner, Traci!

I was not expecting the suspense thriller this book turned out to be. The Kept Secret is that Devin Shanahan, after a whirlwind marriage to his old highschool sweetheart Grace, has to fulfill a previous contract with the CIA--and he can't tell her who is working for. The newly developing bonds of love and marriage are strained when he leaves for Hong Kong on a "job" and leaves her behind. He's in danger, she is in danger as a pawn to manipulate him, and there is lots of action and angst. Well written, good characters, fast-paced mostly believable plot, and I enjoyed it.

I usually like the books by Traci Hunter Abramson. This one kept me a little frustrated that Devin (the husband) could not tell his wife the truth about his job and where he was going. I get that the title is what it's all about, but I don't enjoy when crazy things happen all because people are not able to communicate with each other honestly! Still a worthwhile read. Actually, more like a 3.5....

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a really easy read. I read it in a few days while in the hospital. There were some unexpected twists and turns, especially towards the end. The characters are likable but I would have liked to see a little more character development. For a spy book, it is clean, no swearing or sex, which is unusual. I really appreciated that. All of her books that I have read so far have been clean.

I really enjoyed this book about a couple who gets together after a long time apart and then forces beyond their control keep them apart. Spies, secrets, intrigue, close calls, and lots of page turning chapters where you just want to know what could possibly happen next. I liked that we meet Ghost, one of the guardians, which connects us to Traci's other worlds.
Clean romantic suspense. Definitely recommend.

I loved the storyline and characters (as always), but had a harder time getting into this one. The beginning of the story just kept making me pause...things progressed WAY too fast to be real. I understand that the events here were necessary to the plot line, but I just wish there could have been more development and less speed. That being said, Traci Abramson is and continues to be one of my favorites!
