“You’ve just always been the powerful one. I’m the smart aleck.” “We’re the same. I’m night, you’re day. You have to have both to have life.” “You can hide in the shadows.” “And you can shine like the sun. This prophesy is about both of us.”
Destiny doesn't think she's anything special. The daughter of an outcast witch. Her twin, Fate, is her best friend, so that's awesome. They're experts in love potions and selling them to crazy high school kids.
So they can buy more shoes.
But that all changes when their school is attacked by warlocks—warlocks who want her power for their own. The attack launches her onto the path the stars have chosen for Destiny, Fate, and their long-lost father.
Oh, and Quin.
Quin, who's the son of a witch, only tolerating Destiny's presence because she can save his mother. Except along the way, that all changes, and he realizes Destiny is everything he never knew he wanted. The only problem is she thinks if love can be made from a potion, it can't be a real thing.
If they survive this, he's going to prove her wrong.
This was fluffy and short; I finished it all in one sitting. It's an average teen magic book, but it kept me entertained. The author took common knowledge about witches--potions, broomsticks, wands--and transformed it into a story with a modern setting.
To me, the book is okay--the plot isn't unique, the magic isn't explained enough, and most of the characters are predictable. Even the message behind their solution to defeating the warlocks is a bit overused. The plot is the usual "magical girls are part of an important prophecy and work to save society" type. Nothing makes it stand out much. The magic is a little unbelievable, mostly because it seems to be taken very lightly amongst the characters. It appears to be more like something a daydreaming child would imagine, rather than something in actual reality. In fact, there is one part where magic is blatantly displayed to a whole school of normal humans, and yet nobody questions anything. Even though magic is known to mostly everyone, magic or non-magic, I would've thought someone would comment on a friend's sudden and previously unknown ability to do magic. Just like someone would comment on a friend's new talent.
Although the characters are often predictable, they are nonetheless fun to read. Especially Destiny, Fate, and their mother Alina. I enjoyed reading the times when the twins would banter and comfort each other through their twin bond. They, along with Alina, add life and humor to the story. Quin, Luca, and Damien were fun too. I appreciated their wholehearted support throughout the story.
If you want to read a deep, twisty novel, this is not it. I only recommend this if you're looking for a lighthearted and quick read. It's perfect for a rainy/snowy day or a Halloween night.

I loved this! I haven't read very many witch stories, so I was excited to read this one, and I'm so glad I did because it was awesome! I love that the characters actually use their witch powers! I hate when people have powers in books, but they rarely use them, but that wasn't the case in this book! There's cauldrons, potions, and broomsticks! I love how there are classic witchy things, but there is a modern twist to them! Cauldron Bubble is about twin sisters, Destiny and Fate, who are 18 years old and witches, and they live away from a coven with their mother, Alina. Alina left her coven while pregnant with Destiny and Fate because she no longer felt welcome there. The girls have recently been expelled from their last school, so they are starting at a new school, and that is where Destiny meets Quin; the majority of this book is told from Destiny and Quin's POV's. Quin knows about the witch world because his mom is a witch, and he shares a few classes with Destiny and wants to get to know her better, but they end up not getting off on the right foot, so they both end up being standoffish with each other, but there is a war brewing with the warlocks, so they are going to have to get over their problems with each other and find a way to stop the warlocks from killing off the witches. Warlocks are witches that have turned evil because they have stolen other witches powers. This whole story was lots of fun, and I loved all the witch elements; especially the potion brewing! Plus, there is some great scenes where the characters are battling the warlocks; they added a nice bit of excitement! I really enjoyed the writing and felt the story was unique, and I loved that the characters go on a sort of quest. I also enjoyed the scenes between Quin and Destiny! I love when characters get off on the wrong foot, but they actually really like each other, and I enjoyed their banter and chemistry, and they are really sweet and cute with each other. I also loved Alina and Luca! I was so hoping that would be something touched on in this book, and I'm glad it was part of the story. I also loved the connection between Destiny and Fate, they have a great sisterly bond, and they really look out for each other. This book is a complete story without a cliffhanger, and I really appreciate that because it seems like nowadays there's always a cliffhanger. I'm not sure if the author plans to write more books with these characters, but if she is, I will definitely read them, and I plan to check out more of her books!
"... little pink bubbles hummed to the surface, rose and danced across the ceiling. One popped..."
Cauldron Bubble tells the story of twin witches, Fate and Destiny. The girls are potion witches (as opposed to warrior witches) who live with their mother away from the rest of the coven. The twins delight in creating a variety of potions, including a love potion that has managed to get them expelled from school on three separate occasions.
Quinn is the son of a warrior witch - he has no powers of his own, since only women can be witches. When Destiny and Fate arrive at his school he can't help that Destiny turns his head. She's beautiful and brilliant. No one was better than him at Chemistry... well, until Destiny arrived. The silent competition and animosity between the two is almost palpable. Until the warlocks attack the school leaving Quinn's mother near death and Destiny severely injured.
The result is the twins, Quinn, and a few other companions embark on an epic adventure to save the world from the evil warlocks. Battles are fought, a "destiny" is followed, families are reunited, and love conquers all.
Cauldron Bubble was a true delight.
FYI ~ clean read with mild language and violence Honest Disclosure ~ I received a review copy from the author
I am always a fan of Magical books and this story does not disappoint. The world created in this book grabs the reader and it is a exciting and action filled ride. The relationships are complex and well written does not feel rushed or exaggerated in any way. Defiantly a very promising start to what looks to be a very entertaining Series. I look forward to more.
This is a slightly altered version of the review I've posted on Audible:
It's an audiobook I'd recommend to everyone who likes YA fantasy/paranormal novels. The story is fast paced, with a lot of action and quite a bit of magic, and the main characters are really likeable. It is engaging enough to have kept me listen to it in one day (and it's almost 8 hours long:))
The story is quite simple: warlocks kill witches to steal their magical powers; witches lose the battle cause there are no more potion witches amongst them - they've all been killed by warlocks... But then there are Destiny and Fate (and their mother) who nobody even knows about:) And you guess what? They ARE potion witches, powerful ones, and... they are the twin witches from the prophecy which says they'll save the world and end the war... Sounds really simple, right? And it really is, as stories go, but it is also well told, in an engaging way, with some turns and twists on the way, so you never get bored:) Also, both main and background characters are quite interesting, with their own issues, with some difficult choices to make... There are a few memorable moments in the book, some action packed, some emotionally wrecking, like the moment when Destiny's mother uses a spell trying to relieve her daughter's pain (I won't give you details - "No spoiler" policy:)) or when the girls meet their father for the first time...:)
So, although this may not be a kind of book that is revolutionary for its genre, it's fun and good enough to give the reader/listener a lot of pleasure and that's why I'd recommend it to all those who like a nice summer read/listen:)
As for the interpretation: I liked Ms Prince's narration a lot, especially the interpretation of the two main characters, Destiny and Fate. The girls were given very distinctive "voices", which really helped their personalities shine brightly:) They really were "night and day" - one almost always timid and shy and trying to stay in the shadows, the other louder, more cheerful, with her heart on her sleeve:) I liked that a lot:) Ms Prince had more difficulty with male characters, probably because she herself is a soprano, so when she lowered the pitch of her voice too much it sounded a little slurred and unnatural (I don't know why but it reminded me of Don Corleone's voice - you know, with that characteristic hoarseness..:)) But it stopped bothering me after 5 minutes, really:)
(I was given a free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.)
P.S. I liked it well enough to go on Amazon and buy all three books in the series:)
Fate and Destiny are twin potions witches, one light and one dark. They live with their mother, outcast from any coven, and create their own love potions to sell to their classmates. Their aunt, a warrior witch, occasionally shows up to request new potions to aid in the fight against the warlocks. But what Fate and Destiny don't know is that all the other potion witches have been killed, and without their backup the witches are slowly losing the war.
The girls start at a new school and Destiny rubs Quin, a popular football player, the wrong way. Quin just happens to be the son of a warrior witch. One day, warlocks attack their school, and Destiny joins with Quin to fight them. Both of their mothers are injured as a result of the battle. Quin, Destiny, Fate, and Fate's boyfriend Damien need to find a way to save them, and to fight off the warlocks determined to take their magic.
I think this book just made me fall in love with the paranormal fantasy genre! There's a lot going on in this book, a war between the witches and warlocks, fight to save their mothers, reconnecting with old family, learning about the witches' history, and the new romance. Despite all of this, it was written with a good natural flow and pacing, with no large info dumps. I was intrigued from the beginning and couldn't stop listening to it. The world the author created is fascinating, and I really wanted to learn more about it.
Any book that had me laughing out loud in the first paragraph is a winner. Fate and Destiny were awesomely snarky. They had this great banter between them that anyone with a sister would recognize. They're just incredibly likable, and the bond they shared with their mother was really special.
The narrator did a great job, she was easy to listen to. She did perform a different voice for male or female characters, and also gave Fate and Destiny distinct speaking voices. I thought it fit their personalities well. There weren't any jarring notes, and she narrated smoothly and never pulled me out of the story. I received a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
I don't normally read books solely about witches. But I'm in love with this author and have been socking up on all her books. I love the writing style and the strong characters she creates. She destroys cliché's and YA tropes all while bringing in new fresh material and unique plots.
Right from the start I was hooked, the way the twins where introduced had me. They're witty, snarky, strong, loyal and they love their mom. This whole book was geared towards them and their mom. Sure there was a love interest, and what not, but that was developed naturally throughout the story, it didn't overshadows the main issues. It actually make the plot stronger.
Fate and Destiny are something else. They ping off one another, they make each other stronger but most of all they are their own separate person. My favourite part of this whole book, besides the end.. that kiss-swoon worthy- Was a simple conversation between the two in their won yard, they were talking about a spider playing cards, it was literally a convo about nothing. It was refreshing and downright hilarious and real.
The action, heart pounding, nail-biting and exciting. At the end, my heart almost stop. There was a split second where I though one of the mains was going to bite it. Thank god she wasn't killed off, that would have been cruel and truly an act of malice.
I can go on and on and talk your virtual ears off about how much I loved this book. So I'll end with my high recommendation, and that you all need to read this outstanding, one-of-a-kind book! And not just this book, my recommendation extends to all Wend Knights books. She is kicking down YA walls and taking names.
Fate and Destiny are twin witches. They've grown up with their mother and no coven their whole lives. High school is where they weave their spells and sell their potions, making a lot of money. However, they've been creating a bit of trouble for themselves getting caught. It's not until they transfer into their third school, that the past their mother was trying to keep them from finally catches up with them. A prophecy: one light, one dark. Many secrets are revealed, along with terrifying new enemies, changing the course of Fate and Destiny's future forever. With help from their newfound friends and long lost loved one, a battle has to be won and the outcome rests solely on the twins shoulders. Will they fight their new destiny or will they fight the evil that's chasing them? This is one battle you don't want to miss! Wendy Knight meticulously crafted a world full of witches and dangerous warlocks; each character so well defined, you feel as if you're a passenger inside the book itself. This is definitely a must-read! I look forward to book two! 5 stars!
It strikes me that there doesn't seem to be a explanation for the stars that are given. So I thought I'd start giving my take on it. 1 horrible no redeeming qualities. So far I've never given a 1. 2 blah but there are redeeming qualities. 3 ok worth reading. 4 great but there's something off. 5 loved it.
So now about this story. This is the first time I've read/listened to Wendy Knight. It won't be the last. This is a great beginning for a series. It may be a young adult book. But I'm 55 and I loved it. I can't wait for more of this series, I want to say more about this story but I absolutely hate spoilers, so I won't do it to you. The narrator brings the story to life. Reasons I enjoyed this audio book: Witty, Wonderful characters, Page-turner, Great world building, Unpredictable, Easy-to-read/listen, Entertaining, Action-packed, Twisted, Funny, Whimsical. Bookshelves/tags. adventure, alternatively-reality, angst, fantasy, favorite, humorous, magic, multiple-couples, romance, series, sweet, teens, witch, young-adult.
This Audio book was given to me at my request from the publisher, author or narrator and I provided this unbiased voluntary review.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why? I doubt my friends would indulge in this intended age group audience.
What did you like best about this story? It was well written and the characters were developed and evolved with the story. It was nicely paced and kept the teen angst to a minimum. It especially rocked because of the absence of love triangles!
What about Lori Prince’s performance did you like? Lori had a wonderful tone for this genre. I would definitely listen to another book she narrates.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? Not really. Only because it was slightly more juvenile than I prefer. I did have a few eye rolls during thd interactions among the girls and their mom. Who's raising whom?
Any additional comments? "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily chosen to review."
Twin witches Destiny and Fate are in the middle of a prophecy about saving the world. They work with a few allies to fight the Warlocks, witches who turned into monsters by stealing the power from other witches.
That's about the gist of it, which in itself is not too bad...but it just didn't come together for me. The "bars" directing Destiny's' brain made no sense...Fate's constant need for validation was incredibly annoying...and Alina being a big baby and not dealing with life was really stupid. And finally Destiny's insistence that love can't exist because she can create it with a potion, despite the fact that she acknowledged Damien and Luca really do love her sister and mother. This could have been a lot better so it was really disappointing.
What I liked: - Destiny & Fate. They were fun characters and had a good relationship that was close and supportive but they were still individual. - Destiny & Quin. They were quite amusing particularly in the beginning when they were both obviously crushing on one another and pretending they weren't. - The writing style. I enjoyed the flow and the dialogue and most of the secondary characters as well. - All the stuff set in the school, especially Detiny & Quni's interactions up to and including the battle.
What I didn't like so much: - Destiny's stupid stance on love and how she stuck to it even after everything she & Quin had been through and their obviously genuine and real feelings. - Destiny being controlled by the 'bars'in her mind that sent her wherever she needed to go for the convenience of the story. - The whole love potion thing (not the final one with the warlocks) but the fact that Destiny & Fate regularly made and sold them to their peers and giving it to Damien. To me giving someone a potion like that is comparable to a date rape drug - who knows what actions they make take under the influence that they would never do of their own free will.It doesn't matter that is wears off in a week. Date rape drugs were off too but that does not make them ok - the damage is already done.
I snagged this for free as part of an Amazon giveaway and am so glad when it got to the top of my TBR list that I dug into it. Witchy stuff isn't usually my bag but the characters sucked me in straight away. Destiny and Fate are very engaging as primaries and I enjoyed reading about their mishaps and catastrophes. As a series starter I thought it was excellent and will be sure to dig in again. Romance plays a huge part in the story line and if I had a complaint, it would be that one of the budding attractions was overdone. Otherwise it's a neat story.
My review is based on the Audiobook. Cauldron Bubble was a great story. Destiny & Fate are likeable and relatable. I was captivated from beginning to end. Wendy Knight threw in the perfect mix of magic and romance. Lori Prince was a great choice for narrator. The character voices were distinguishable and the story easy to follow. Perfect pacing! I am really looking forward to seeing where the Twins magical journey will lead and will definitely be buying more in this series. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
If you had ever asked me if I'd read and enjoyed a zombie book, I would have told you no, but that was before I read this sweet story about love versus hate. Apparently you can put zombies in a fantasy setting and make them interesting if you're .Wendy Knight. The characters were fun to get to know as well. Characters make or break any story and I'd love to know the main characters in this book.
There was some swearing, which was disappointing. Great read overall.
This made a great start to a new young adult paranormal romance trilogy. I enjoyed getting to know the sisters. Fate and Destiny made great family and their mom too. I'm dying to know more about Fate and her boyfriend Damien. Book 2 is focused on them I believe. Destiny and Quin were fun characters. I love the whole hate/chemistry they had going on. Oh and the class Chemistry as well. Fun stuff. Prophecies are always interesting and the villain is not surprising but good at being a villain for sure. Overall, Cauldron Bubble gets four glittery stars!
Action and magic, witches and warlocks. They were new to town. The last of their kind. They may be the only ones who can win this battle. OK so maybe I am a softy for all things magic, however I really enjoyed this coming of age story for these twin siblings. This is Destiny's story well kind of. As Destiny and Quinn find each other and their strength this author takes us on the ride of a lifetime. Plenty of action and battling and surprises. I haven't read much of this author's work but I have enjoyed what I've read and I will most definitely finish this series.
Cauldron Bubble: Toil and Trouble volume one by Wendy Knight was a great Read. Destiny and Fate are not only twins but best friends. They are the daughters of an outcast witch. They are love potion experts that sell their potions at their school. Quinn is the son of a witch who is trying to save his mom after she is left in a coma. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series.
This is a wonderful paranormal (witchy) story I recommend from teens and up. I really liked the twins. They were funny and I love how they were so close to each other, unlike some other sisters. I liked the cocky Quinn, but even more so when he wasn't quite so cocky. I look forward to the next book. I voluntarily reviewed this audiobook after receiving a free copy I requested.
I liked this one way more than the prequel & found myself devouring it! The main characters, Destiny & Fate, really do seem like (mostly) normal teenage girls except for being witches and the fact that they can communicate telepathicly.
They are snarky, have each other's back and aren't about to take crap from anyone, especially the warlocks. This book was wrapped up nicely, some I'm wondering what kind of trouble these two will get into next.
Cauldron Bubble by Wendy Knight ***** Great story! So good! There is an ancient prophecy about the fun loving twins, who are potion witches that will save the world. Never a dull moment with love, danger, potions and war. And some teenage fun. I really enjoyed this story & couldn't put it down until I finished it. Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
Okay, honestly this genre is not my cup of tea. However, I decided to try it because I was fascinated with the about book and wanted to try it. Why book 2 is on unlimited and book one is not is beyond me. Having that over with I will say it was interesting. Good story line. I love the love potion thing and it was creative. Well written and fun. I'm on the next book.
Aww, I loved Cauldron Bubble!! This sweet, action packed adventure will have you believing in love at first sight. Just because love comes from a potion, doesn't mean it isn't real.
Wendy makes you fall in love with her characters time and time again. Grab this book and a cauldron and let the fun begin!
Cauldrons bubble, broomsticks fly and warlocks are more demon like than human. This is an amazing young adult story about 2 teenage twin witches. Destiny and Fate but one doesn’t believe in love because how can love be true when you can create a love potion. But it’s more than that these two young witches are part of a prophecy. And that is one big prophecy that needs to be filled.
Here is yet another amazing book by the awesome Wendy Knight! A great story with wonderful characters. This book was a page Turner for me. I simply could not put it down. I highly recommend it!
Twin potion witches find out their destiny is to fight warlocks! The twins get in trouble making love potions, but who knows, maybe it will come in handy...
