A year ago, Adele Gordon lost her life as she knew it when she came home from a night out with her friends, only to find her apartment on fire with her son and husband trapped inside. She has spent that year, trying to recover her mental health in a psychiatric hospital, only to awaken to a living nightmare. Having no work experience, she finds a job as a maid in the Wilcher Hotel. She's always been a type A personality and does her job spotlessly. A guest notices her thorough work, but also sees the exhausting sadness in her eyes. He gives her a $100 tip to go home for the rest of the day and relax until her exhaustion passes. She's touched by his unexpected kindness and his impulsive hug warmed her up. What she doesn't know is this caring man is none other than Mason Wilcher, part owner of the hotel chain, making him her boss. It's obvious that Mason senses something in her, something he doesn't want to give up on and continues to pursue her. He slowly and sweetly brings a little warmth into her life, even though she fights it at first. She finally responds to his kindness and interest in her by allowing him to chip at the ice in her heart and coldness in her very being. Everything is looking so good for them until her best friend discovers a secret about Mason that he hasn't shared with Adele. Her world is shaken, but she hasn't given him a chance to explain his side of the story. The journey to their HEA is sweet and so endearing and the epilogue is heartwarming. The only reason this is a 4* rating is that there are time shifts and flashbacks that were a little difficult to follow. The ending includes a flashback that gives it an abrupt feel. It, however, does not affect the overall quality of this story. The narration by Shelby Hughes is excellent. She has a well-modulated voice that gives each character a clear and individual personality. Nicely done!
One night of celebration turned Adele's life into tragedy. Her husband and son died in a fire. Her new life being alone, just being alive, was working as a maid in a posh hotel. A guest came in as she was cleaning his room. He listened to her story, giving her a large tip and a hug. He was Mason Wilcher, part owner of the hotel. He has an interest in her that he wants to continue. She fights it at first, because he's her boss. But she slowly opened her heart up again for love. It wasn't until she discovered a secret he didn't share her world was shaken again. This is a story of finding love again after a heartbreaking tragedy Shelby Hughes narration.was.phenomenal. Narrated by Shelby Hughes, this heartwarming story leaves you happy and content.
A beautiful story of recovery, hope and finding someone to love again.
Adele lost everything to a tragic fire, including her husband and son. She has struggled to move on in life and wallows in feelings of guilt and sadness. She meets Mason at work. Mason is part owner of the hotel where Adele works. He is focused only on business. When they meet, the connection is instant. Mason is caring and kind and he shows Adele how much life she has left to live.
Quick, sweet and romantic, Keep Me Warm is a great read!
A beautifully written story about finding love again when your life takes a sudden and heartbreaking turn. Adele lost everything including her husband and young child to fire. Starting over as a shell of her former self, Adele finds herself cleaning rooms at a luxury hotel. But it is not until she comes across a patron of the hotel, Mason, does she start to live again. But when Mason's true identity as one of the big wigs of the hotel comes to light will Adele fall back into her shell once again or will she find out that you can go on living even when you heart has been broken.
I really wanted to love this book. I do like the premise, and she does a good job of making the reader feel the main character's pain. My problem is the length of the story. It is simply too short. There should have been MUCH more elaboration and story to build in between the key points in the story. It is a good read, especially if the reader is wanting something short. I just think it would have been so much better with more content and a build to the ending.
After losing everything in a devastating fire, Adele has to face the fact that life still goes. She is a maid in a luxury hotel, A guest notice sadness in her eyes. He gives her a $100 tip to go home for the rest of the day. She doesn't know is this caring man is none other than Mason Wilcher, part owner of the hotel chain, making him her boss. Slowly she starts to feel warmth.
One year ago Adele Gordon lost her world when her husband and son died in a fire. Mentally and emotionally she has had a hard time moving on but she has found a job cleaning hotel rooms and is getting through each day. When a guest gives her a tip of $100 to make time for herself she does just that and realizes how much that small gesture meant to her.
When Mason Wilcher gets food poisoning Adele helps him out and he tells her that he hopes that one day she will realize that she deserves to be happy. As the two form an unlikely friendship, will Adele allow herself to be happy or will the guilt she has to that night prevent her from moving on?
I thought this was a very beautiful story about finding that purpose and reason to live fully after you have lost those you love. For Adele she had so much guilt with being out the night of the fire and I believe a huge part of her believed that she should have died in the fire as well.
The small gesture of receiving $100 was so big for Adele as she never had enough money to treat herself and it really made a huge impact on her. As her friendship with Mason grows she learns to let him in and to live in the moment and not be worried about losing him in the future.
I really loved the message of the book in that there can be happiness again when we give ourselves the chance to let love in.
Mason brings something back to Adele that she lost when her husband and son were killed in a fire. They meet when Adele is cleaning his hotel room and has a small emotional break down then he tells her to take the rest of the day off. Of course, they meet again and their relationship grows.
The story just feels rushed. It was a short book, but I think it could have been longer with a few more details and events to make it more complete. I think that Vanessa, Adele’s best friend, could have been more of a player in the story and that the building of their relationship could have been more in depth.
I felt like the characters weren’t fully developed either. I felt for Adele and wanted her to be happy….I can’t even imagine something happening to my husband and kids, but I just never really connected with her entirely. Mason was a great guy, but
I enjoyed this book and think with a little more I could have really loved it.

This was a wonderful book about a woman (Adele) who lost everything and never dreamed she could find everything she was missing again. Adele was lost after her husband and son passed away due to a house fire. She honestly didn't know how she could move on and not feel guilty for that as well. She basically just went through the motions of day to day life. While she was working her housekeeping job at a hotel, she discovered she had so much more of herself to give.
Mason only focused on his work, as he was part owner of the same hotel that Adele worked at. They meet by chance one day and an instant connection was felt by both of them. Neither one was really looking for someone at the time but sometimes that is when the most perfectly unexpected surprises happen.
Mason showed Adele how much of her heart she had left to give. This was a quick read but it was so beautiful. You could really feel Adele's pain and sorrow and later see her happiness shine through. Loved it.
I really enjoyed the sad, coziness of this novella. Life gets pretty lonely really quick for Adele; within the blink of an eye, she loses those closest to her and she has to figure out how to survive - about a year later, she finally thinks that she can maybe, just maybe, move on for good. Mason is the sweetest of men, and genuinely a good guy. I really felt like I got to know them, even though this story is significantly shorter than most.
"Cold makes everything harder, including fighting to keep warm and chase the nightmares away."
I enjoyed seeing these two people find something in each other that they really didn't set out to look for at first. A sweet tale of moving on and trying to love again, a good read for anyone who just loves love like I do!
"I never want to forget those little moments. When they were created, they were just a few words, a quick conversation and gesture, but now they are my heart, my gold.... what keeps me warm."
Wow what a beautiful read. Why can't I be a maid who has lost everything and have the man of my dreams show up. I don't have nearly as many deep seated hurts as Adele does and I don't hide away to protect myself. But this is a story about Adele and Mason. Adele can't figure out why she is drawn to this man she just met but something about him draws her to him, it could be missing her family. But whatever the reason he gets her and gets to her. When things turn up and try to get in the way it's up to Mason to prove it is more than a passing fancy and that Adele can and deserves to live again. If he can get her to believe it that is.
A quick read that just makes you sigh. Well done and thoroughly enjoyed.
Heartwarming! I've reviewed this book for United Indie Book Blog. Jude Ouvrard has written another wonderful, Heartwarming book. Adele is a well written character that I became attached to immediately. You really feel the pain and anxiousness she goes through as she starts the process of healing and going on with life. Mason is truly a special person that you hold on it and not let go. He helps Adele to see that she can still go on living. I cant wait to read your next book. This book left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling after reading it. I highly recommend reading this book. Keep up the amazing work Jude!
How do you start over when everything you lived for is stolen in an instant? That's the question we're asked in this book and it's an impossible question. Adele is barely moving though life a year after a devastating loss. In fact, you can't really call what she's doing as living, she's merely existing. A random encounter with a stranger at the hotel she cleans for ends with surprising gentleness and compassion. It reignites the fire in her soul and reminds her how precious life is.
Beautiful book with great characters. I felt the "I love yous" and the ending were rushed and ended rather abruptly but there's no cliffhanger. A book everyone can connect to. Well done.

A Romance Worth Cuddling Up With! This is a delightful tale of a woman who finds out just how healing love is, and that we all deserve second chances! After losing everything in a devastating fire, Adele has to face the fact that life still goes on for the broken people standing in the wake of pain. A Seattle maid in a luxury hotel, Adele fights to be whole again - to really live and not just exist. I enjoyed this story. It was a quick and heart-warming read, perfect for snuggling up on a cold winter day with your favorite hot beverage, cuddle blanket, and kitty!
This book was an emotional story! After loosing her husband and son in a fire Adele tries to move on but it's slow however working at The Wilcher Hotel seems to be helping especially when Adele meets a sweet man in one of the rooms she was cleaning up. Mason is project manager at the hotel and is kinda sort of Adele's boss at least in her eyes. Mason and Adele form a budding friendship but a hidden spark between them starts to glow and show itself!
