Another successful entry in the Little Tails series. There is a puppy named Chipper and a squirrel named Squizzo that go on adventures around the world and this time, back in time. They hop into their cardboard airplane and this time bring the kitchen clock. As the hands travel backwards, they once again crash land and find themselves face to face with an archeopterex. They decide they need to head towards the volcano to find out how to get back home. Along the way they meet various dinosaurs and seem to travel forwards in time. As the story continues, they meet prehistoric mammals as well with the final meeting being with prehistoric boy. There is also a section that briefly describes the evolution of life on earth.

I love the way these books are set up. The main characters appear at the top of each page in a black and white comic strip of a few panels discussing where they are, what they see, and something about the animal. The pictures of the animals are full of colour and drawn more true to life. What a great technique! At the back of the book the author provides more detailed information about the animals they encountered during their trip. I am looking forward to seeing what other adventures they will have in subsequent books. I think the way this is presented will peak the interest of young readers. It can be used to introduce the topic of pre-historic life, evolution, archeology and more. A great book for school and class libraries. Of course, this book is a must for dinosaur lovers. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

Told in comic style, the squirrel and puppy, Chipper and Squizzo time travel, crash landing in water to meet several prehistoric animals and even a cro-magnon boy on land. The book ends with some history and evolution of this era. May be more suitable for boys. Spectacular full-color drawings by Federico Bertolucci, some with the beauty and depth of a photo. Translation by Mike Kennedy. Thanks to NetGalley for providing this ebook for review.

I love the colour pictures of the animals and the explanation of evolution was well done. Good info at the end about the creatures. In general, it's quite informative. The story of the cat and dog was a bit boring.

I love the graphic structure and that the author seemingly sneaks in little educational facts. My kids like when they think they discovered information rather than being told.

I've enjoyed this series so far and was happy to see another issue released.

The design of the book is the same as the previous ones. Each page, at the top, has black and white panels with Squizzo and Chipper with the animals in glorious color on the rest of the page. The pictures of the dinosaurs and their world are in full color and drawn in a realistic and detailed, yet still cartoonish, fashion. There's a minimal story but it's the journey and the dinosaurs encountered along the way that will engage children, as well as the bright, eye-catching artwork. At the back of the book the author provides more detailed information about the animals they encountered during their trip. It can be used to introduce the topic of pre-historic life, evolution, archeology and more. A great book for school and class libraries.

This book was awesome! It gives a great intro to prehistory, talks about dinosaurs, explains how life evolved from the ocean, what more can I ask? The best part is how it can engage the little reader with a story and good art. Highly recommended for children (and adults who are young at heart). Thanks to the publisher for the ARC.

This is another wonderful book in the series of books that teach kids about things, while telling a cute story of a puppy and a squirrel as they explore prehistoric times. The last book had them taking a flight to the Savana. This time, they get in their cardboard box, and go to prehistoric times where they meet dinasuars from all the different eras. They even point out that not all these things were alive at the same time.

Very informative, and fun to read.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I loved the Little Tails in the Jungle book, so I was already interested in more books from these 2 characters. So when I saw this book up on Netgalley and saw it featured dinosaurs (!!) I just had to press the Read Now button. I adore dinosaurs, I love Little Tails, so this had to be good.

Plus points to the Back to the Future reference at the beginning.

So the book already started off in a brilliant way. A cardboard plane? A kitchen clock so you can go back in time? How does this construction work in the first place. :P

And thus their adventure starts as they land in prehistoric times. Oh boy, I just loved it. All those dinosaurs, including my favourite the mighty T-rex. I just adored how the illustrator drew the dinosaurs. Each artist has their way of drawing/animating dinosaurs, and sometimes they don't work, but in this one they really did. Though I am still not all that happy that all those cool dinosaurs suddenly have feathers and often look like overgrown chickens. Give me back my reptiles any day.

I loved that on each page you have a comic and then a gorgeous, vivid painting/illustration of the dinosaur/animal mentioned in the comic. Often they also overlapped (like the one where they have to run for a Pterodactyl).

We first start off pretty far in the Dinosaur period, but slowly time passes and we meet animals (like the mammoth), and more. I hadn't expected that at all. I just thought this would be about pre-history/dinosaurs. All good though, I quite like this.

Like I said in my previous Little Tails review, I love that the main characters are a dog and a squirrel and that they are such good friends.

So, another success in the Little Tails series, I should really find the other books in this series.

This book starts out with Chipper being woken up to go on an adventure with his friend. The pictures start out bland, then slowly becomes more colorful and vibrant as the book goes on. Encouraging children who read the book to keep going until the end.

Chipper and his pal go back in time to when the dinosaurs roamed. They learn all about what life was like before the dinosaurs became extinct. Perfect for the little boy or girl who is obsessed with all things dinosaurs.

Told in comic style, this book is super easy to read and has a great story line to go with it with lovable characters as well. The fact that it's informative as well as a fun read is the icing on the cake.

This book was a review copy from Netgalley. Thanks for the chance to read and review it!

In this edition of the adventures of the studious squirrel and ditzy puppy—don’t know how many there are in this series, but this is my third—they trade in their cardboard box plane for a cardboard box time machine, going back to check out dinosaurs instead of present animals.
As always, each page has a comic strip combined with a beautifully colored painting, usually devoted to the wildlife they’re talking to (it’s not enough that the animals can speak, but now dinosaurs from so long ago can too, in English). In an unusual twist, the usually scatterbrained puppy knows the names of all the dinosaurs, including the hard to pronounce obscure ones.
“Whew, finally a cute animal!” Forget about the giant dinosaurs, the worst animals are the tiny insects. There’s even a rudimentary attempt at explaining evolution, for the young‘uns. And their time-travel device is a new one, and this from a fan of Somewhere In Time.
As always in these books, as well as the Love series by the same author, the artwork is the whole point of this, simply beautiful renditions of animals that could hang in an art gallery, if zoos had them. The last four pages have further details on each dinosaur they encounter.
When it says that Cro-Magnons invented the comic strip, I thought they were talking about BC, then realized it was cave paintings. Duh.

English 'Cubhouse' ed.: "(Volume 4) First Printing, 2017" ¦ $14.99

Narrative: **
I absolutely appreciate all of the facts of nature within- I didn't know plenty and some I was even embarrassed to not know. Still, they are drive->by->facts that leave me wanting to know more since they are always moving quickly through four panel pages that use some of the relatively few phylactere on humor. The final three pages give the meat of knowledge by giving featured nearly ten animals full paragraphs.

Visual: **
He is so much better than the quick line-work that does the action of the duo within the panels. It looks lazy- especially because below is a usually very considered painting of his. As nice as that is big, it's just one nice piece per page.

:—〉Ha!〈—:
So I learned that every Pterodactyl I've ever seen in any medium, always a menacing size from above, has been incorrect- that they were actually only "about the size of a normal pigeon!" It's the Quetzalcoatlus, with the 30 foot wingspan, that just gets called the recognizable name instead.

Using comic panels, beautiful illustrations, time travel and a couple of really cute characters to narrate Frederic Brremaud has created the perfect book for young dinosaur lovers.

The illustrations by Federico Bertolucci are just so colorful and eye catching you can't help but pour over all the minute details especially since the dinosaur panels are in stark contrast to the panels with the narrating characters.

Brremaud did a great job with those practically impossible to pronounce dinosaur names so the reader will know which ones they are learning about. There is tons of neat information about insects, land animals, sea animals, those that take to the air and scientific principles like evolution. Just when you think it's over you're treated to a bit extra with factoids about the animals and a small history lesson.

Kids will find this book easy to read and parents will love that their kids are learning something.

A puppy and a squirrel travel back in time in their flying, cardboard time machine. They visit the prehistoric ages - from the time of the dinosaurs to the dawn of man. This book is written in comic book style, but it's also packed with information about the creatures that inhabited the Earth before modern human beings.

It's an interesting combination of fiction and non-fiction perfect for children ages 5-9. The timelines are intertwined, so don't expect this to be a historically accurate account of prehistory, but for kids interested in graphic novel style writing and prehistoric animals, it's a pretty good read.

Because the book spans beyond the dinosaur age, there were many animals that I didn't recognize. And always with this type of book, there is a reference section at the end which gives more facts about the animals these characters encounter during their journey.

What a great series to teach young readers about different environments and animals. This book is sure to delight all readers of dinosaurs and time travel! The book is full of color and descriptions and full of life. There is even more education at the end of the book with more details about the animals encountered along the way. This particular book dives into the age of the dinosaur and how we are learning about them today. The story is told in a comedic way but gets the learning in as well! There are so many lessons to be learned throughout this story that would make this book good for all ages. As an adult the artwork is stunning and well worth the read.

This book was given to me in return for a honest review by the publisher and Netgalley. Thank you.

Our three year old absolutely loved this showing the title will be well loved by the smallest of dinosaur fans. Chipper and Squizzo drew him in with their funny conversations, and he loved the contrast between the comic strip pictures of them and the larger, vibrant colors of the dinosaurs. He was interested in their time traveling cardboard contraption flying machine as much as the dinosaurs. We love stories where children are introduced to history and facts through a fun and accessible story.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This series is very twee, but actually quite clever in how it presents its natural history. Two small animals always go on a journey in comic form, meeting lots of animals along the way that also get to feature in much larger, fully painted imagery. Here we get the usual problems with adding invented colour to dinosaurs, but it's alright, and at least gets to feature the entirety of evolution in just one double-page spread. It's never going to be a perfect series, however – here the dialogue between the critters is at times really disposable.

A story told by cartoon with with illustrations of dinosaurs. I love this series. They take a serious, and funny look at prehistory. All in the guise of a time traveling cat and dog, who just want to make it to the volcano so they can somehow get home. They meet lots of strange creatures along the way, and even some ancient people. A great series for kids of all ages.

Cute and clever way to travel back to prehistoric times. Great use of story to introduce dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. Excellent use of "that looks like" to link known animals to prehistoric animals. The color and textures of the images were delightful and brilliant.

Two black-and-white characters who look kind of like they're form the Mutts newspaper comic, travel through more well-rendered prehistory, from the dinosaurs to the ice age. An interesting combination of art. The characters are a little silly, but mostly they're just narrating what they see.

With a fun comedic style, Chipper and Squizzo crash land and meet prehistoric animals and a cro-magnon boy. The book (happily) does point out that they were not alive at the same time. The book ends with some history and evolution of this era. Great for kids who like action and adventure. At the start, the images are less refined and get more so through the book. The full-color drawings by Federico Bertolucci, are wonderful and engaging; some of them almost feel like photo by the time the reader gets to the end. Translation by Mike Kennedy.
