Examines the founding and development of The Salvation Army as a major evangelistic agency in Victorian Britain and beyond and introduces his amazing family and a host of intriguing characters that served under the Army's banner along with the tragic death of Catherine.
I enjoyed the second volume of this biography more that the first. It was interesting to read about Booth's relationship with WT Stead, and how much they clashed, including all the details of the Maiden Tribute affair. Also, it was heartbreaking to read of Catherine's death and all the subsequent tensions in the Booth family and within the ranks of the Salvation Army. Well worth reading.
