When will Jesus get more than a booty call? How many people have died basically because Carl got laid? What! Where is that Lucille, baby?

On Negan's advice Rick drastically changes his leadership strategy! Meanwhile Dwight has an army...nope, that was not a typo!! Not wanting to give away any spoilers but how Kirkman and co. give us more insight into the Whisperers is fab.. F A B. 9.5 out of 12, Four Stars.

That ending!
My world feels all topsy-turvy now...
Ok. I will try to tag all of the major spoilers, but (as always) if you don't want to know anything about the plot, then stop reading now.
description
TWD isn't exactly known for its breakneck speed in storytelling, and this volume is no exception. In between the Ooooooh! moments there's the everyday stuff that doesn't seem all that interesting. Maggie missing her kid, Carl settling in to Hilltop and feeling content, etc..
Nothing big, but I think things like that make the gotcha moments even better.

description

Ok, 3 big things happen in this one, and the first has to do with Eugene.

All that remains to be seen is whether or not this is a good thing...

Up next is something everyone's been waiting for, even if nobody really wants to admit it.

Ok, now the last issue played out exactly like I thought it would.
AND THEN IT WENT IN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT DIRECTION!

My mind is spinning with all of these questions now!
I don't even know what to think, except it's amazing that Kirkman can still keep surprising me after 26 volumes of this shit.

I enjoyed this volume in the series quite a bit. There are have been some interesting twists making me wonder who is with who. I has been awhile in this series since I was so unsure of what the next steps will be. Another interesting cliffhanger, too.

In The Walking Dead, Volume 26: This Will Never End Call To Arms, Robert Kirkman does the inevitable on a couple of long-standing obvious plot-points! Eugene makes contact with a new group via his ham radio, Rick grows more as a leader and the settlements are preparing for war against the Whisperers. But the major development is Negan finally getting free and making his way to the Whisperer’s camp…

I say obvious because Kirkman’s not the most subtle storyteller and has a habit of telegraphing future storylines well ahead of time. Negan in a cage? Yeah that was gonna last… Also, while those final few pages are still shocking, it’s not surprising to see that Negan is now more than just a one-dimensional villain who wants to kill Rick.

It wouldn’t be interesting after all this time to have Negan regress to the person he was before so to see nuance added to his worldview is kinda predictable. But that’s the only predictable part of his character because while he’s still dangerous and evil he also now weirdly likes/respects Rick despite being his prisoner for years (in the story’s chronology), and his larger plan remains inscrutable. Negan’s basically become Joker to Rick’s Batman!

Kirkman also occasionally throws in a clanger of a scene to really lay it thickly on the reader the importance of something everyone’s already aware of. Here it’s the full page of Dwight turning to the reader to grimly announce, after encroaching on Whisperer turf and shooting a bunch of them dead, “This was an act of war” – well, duh!

Call To Arms is a table-setting book with lots of pieces being moved into position and not a whole lot else happening. As a result it’s a so-so read with Negan waking the reader up whenever he’s around like the great villain he is. Kirkman’s mostly on autopilot but at least he’s steering the series into a compelling direction so the next book will probably be awesome like it is whenever the story becomes balls-to-the-wall Rick’s Group vs New Adversarial Group.

You can't keep relying on the cliffhanger ending to progress the story. Your fans will turn savage on you if you keep up the shenanigans, Kirkman.

Don't say you weren't warned. I've defended you for too long to turn back now. Don't make me eat my words.

now this was one of the most shocking and best endings the series has had in ages, i was honestly not expecting negan to do that at all.

I still feel this issue was just a filler one but it did also move the story along but not a much really did happen in this issue. Rick and the communities are gearing up to get ready for war against the whisperers which always seems to happen in these comics, we had the war with the saviours then nothing much happened now were on our second war against the whisperers. I feel that Robert needs to do something more then just send the communities all to war and maybe that might change when future issues are released.

Brandon and Rick have a bit of a fight inside Alexandria after brandon attacks rick for getting both of his parents killed. Brandon then does the unthinkable and breaks negan out of the cell he is in and takes him to the whisperers where Negan himself kills Brandon. Negan then pushes on to go meet the whisperers group, I always have loved Negan's dialogue in the comics because its funny and witty when he interacts with other characters. I will be interested to see if Robert ever kills Negan off in the comic series because that would be very fun to see.

I have to give a shout out to Charlie Adlard, Stefang Gaudiano and Cliff Rathburn for all the hard work they do in creating the amazing drawings for this series, they always seem to top themselves and improve themselves with each issue that's released.

The ending is what i was not expecting! i cannot believe Negan had the guts to kill Alpha but he did it in a way that he made her open herself up and let her guard down is what got her ultimately killed which Negan is good at doing to people.

That was probably the biggest cliffhanger of the entire series. Never in a million years did I see that coming. I literally gasped out loud and my jaw dropped. So much happened in this volume. By far the best installment in "The Whisperers" era so far!

Mexican boy: Viene la tormenta!
Sarah Connor: What did he just say?
Gas Station Attendant: He said there's a storm coming in.
Sarah Connor: [sighs] I know.

There as sure as Hell is... This volume builds up the pressure to exploding point. Shit is about to go down... I can't wait for the next issue!

Also, they've managed to make Negan interesting again! I'm glad Rick didn't kill him now.

This feels like a table setting book to me as Alexandria trains its people for war. Rick's getting a little paranoid and more manipulative as he's lost his physicality. While some bigger things happen, it's still the little moments that Kirkman does best. Seeing Carl grow into a man and walking around no longer ashamed of his disfigured face warms my heart. Eugene finds someone on the short wave radio and begins a discussion with this other group. I'm looking forward to where this is headed. I'm sure the next volume will head into a Whisperer's War.

Classic Walking Dead. Adlard's drawings are perfect. Kirkman's scenario enagaging. Negan continues to be the best villain in this epic series. Rick takes a backseat in the action to Negan who infiltrates the Whisperers. Carl and Lydia settle in at the Hilltop. Eugene makes some friends over the radio. Tensions are still high, but zombies are less of a minute-by-minute threat. Great episode.

HOLY SHIT. Excuse my swearing but Negan would totally support it though, so I'm fine with it.

If I could give this a million stars I would. THAT ENDING. AAAAAH. Negan man. Fucking Negan does it again. He is so complex, by far one of the best villains out there. Just when you think you know him, and have a good idea of what he will do next, he just goes and does the opposite thing.

Such an arrogant, sick, twisted man. I think I'm in love. I'm a total fangirl, not even gonna lie about it.

I just need the next volume now. This is me basically thinking of all the badass things Negan will do in the next volume..

This collection continues the build up to the inevitable war between our beloved group and the Whisperers. In this one, Negan escapes from his cell and goes to the Whisperer camp to join them. This issue reminded me of when two baddies join together to defeat a hero.

I enjoyed this collection and I am enjoying the whole Whisperer story arc. I have not been a fan of Negan but this issue swayed me and I enjoyed him a lot. This universe works best when it raises questions about society and this collection achieved that. It brings up questions about leadership and what is the best course to take. There were plenty of minor action sequences for the action enthusiast and the plot had steady forward momentum. What people will take away from this collection is the finale. It was jaw dropping and I did not see that coming. It changes things.

Before this story arc with the Whisperers, I thought it was time to put this comic to bed. This new arc has breathed new life into the story and this collection continues in that vein. I look forward to the next collection.

Rick is preparing Alexandria to fight the Whisperers. Practice makes perfect… starting this volume by shooting a lot of walkers. Yikes.

The story progresses nicely. Some of the early artwork did not really convince me though in this issue. Faces were a little messy and overly simplified at times.

Negan is such a nasty piece of work! And then something happens and you think, wow, he is human after all… and then we get that ending. Holy cow. I wonder how that is going to play out in the next volume…

Gabriel finally doing something. Was about time!

Everyone having a fight with Rick since the last volume is so funny. Sometimes for the most odd reasons!

It's the first time that I'm agreeing with Negan. Names like Beta and Alpha are just stupid.

You know the Whisperers are worse when even Negan disapproves of their way of doing things. Even for Negan it's too much. He still has morals, the Whisperers never had any to begin with. It's sick, their definition of 'strength'.

Negan is always so unpredictable. One moment he laughs and talks about life philosophy and the next one he is doing something reckless and one remembers that he was supposed to be the antagonist.

Během posledních 45 dní jsem přelouskal přes 3500 stran The Walking Dead.

A spin-off seriálu. A knihu o Guvernérovi. A videohru. A mobilní hru. A možnost koupit si postavičky hlavních postav a pak si s nima při dlouhých podzimních večerech hrát.

Z The Walking Dead se stala slušná mašina na peníze. A mně to nevadí - kvalita je i po tolika letech pořád na výši.

The latest Walking Dead arc started on the slow and sort of boring side — then all hell broke loose. In his 26th volume, Robert Kirkman proves he still has the power to shock his readers with the never ending crazy twists and turns of this ongoing zombie series. Full of tons of Negan, the character you hate to love, and one hell of an ending, I cannot wait to see what happens next!

This was an awesome one. Rick trains everyone in the camp to be militaristic to go after the whisper, somewhere he is still recovering from the attacks on him and then we see Maggie returning to Hilltop but Negan escaped with someone and we see him go to the whisperers and he wins their trust only to turn at the last second and that ending was shocking. But its such a great twist and great to see Carl growing up.

This volume had a sudden betrayal and people going after Negan but he survived and then the thing he did..does that prove he is loyal or is he planning something else? A war is coming and its not gonna be easy and will challenge Rick and all in a big way. Kirkman coming in with another twist here with this and the art is pretty good especially the scenes with zombies and all.

I KNEW they should have killed Negan when they had the chance. That probably irked me more than anything in this series. Negan is too dangerous to live, and I think Rick should have been smart enough to know it. And this is the volume where it comes back to bite him in the ass, or at least the beginning of it.

We see more of the whisperers and there's some character development as with every volume, but the main thing is Negan escapes and ends up with the whisperers. And, just when you think Negan isn't quite as bad as he seems, he shows you that he's probably worse.

This is a good volume overall, just frustrating since I've seen all this coming a while now and I know things will get worse before they get better. Still a great series. I'm anxiously awaiting the next volume as well as the new season of the show. Let's hope in the show they actually kill Negan rather than wuss out like the comic. Yeah, I know Rick had a purpose, but when the fate of humanity rests on each decision, you have to be practical, and Negan needed to go!

Welp, the show officially went offroad at this point. Admittedly, I'm behind. I've only seen through Season Nine on good ol' Netflix. But this volume already did a lot of time hopping and resolving of things it didn't address yet in the show. I literally gasped out loud at the end of this volume.

Don't read on if you don't want spoilers.

The militia for the defense against the Whisperers is training.

Rick talks to Michonne about going to The Kingdom and leading them. She agrees. Although she never gets around to it in this volume.

Eugene makes contact with another person on the CB radio he's been working on.

Rick meets with Brandon (the boy who beat up Carl and who's father attacked Rick [and was killed]). Brandon attacks Rick, but Rick gets the better of him.

Brandon goes to the jail and lets Negan go. He tells him that they can help the Whisperers attack Rick's community and they can kill one another off. Negan agrees.

Paul shoots Marco (from Hilltop) thinking he's a Whisperer. He shows Rick that the community is on edge and jumpy.

Negan kills Brandon and continues towards the Whisperers himself. He allows himself to be taken in by the Whisperers and tells them he wants join their ranks.

Michonne tries to talk Aaron into a relationship with Jesus. He says he misses Eric too much. They are attacked by Whisperers and Eric is stabbed by Beta.

Negan is brought to Alpha and immediately starts flirting with her and is starstruck.

Michonne fights off the Whisperers trying to defend a wounded Aaron. When it seems all hope is lost, Dwight arrives with reinforcements and they are saved. Michonne is able to get Aaron back to medical help in time to save him.

Negan continues his startstruck revery of Alpha. Beta doesn't trust Negan. He begins to work to earn his place as one of the Whisperers.

Carl and Lydia get closer still and are sleeping together.

Negan nearly ruins his hope of becoming one of the Whisperers by defending a woman about to be raped. He rebukes Alpha for allowing this to take place. Alpha becomes vulnerable with him in private and admits she doesn't feel strong, and she allows some of the heinous things that happen to keep her people happy. She acknowledges that Beta protects her and could take everything from her if he chose. Negan gets transparent with her about some of his losses, and right as her defenses begin to break down, he slashes her throat. Negan hacks off her head and reveals his plan to take her head to Rick for a peace offering.

I'd rate this book an R for swearing, violence and gore, disturbing images, an attempted rape scene, and adult content.

So I believe I’m officially caught up and ahead of the show and am now in spoiler territory? That ending!!! AHHH! I figured that’s where it was headed in the show, but I wasn’t sure if the comics were going the same way. That was so great.

Bullet Review:

3 stars...or 4 stars? Eh, let's settle with 3 stars. Don't want to give this series TOO big of a head.

Rick Grimes is starting towards the path of ultimate domination. He can do pretty much anything at this point and not get a single shred of criticism for his fascist, tyrannical actions. He literally paints propaganda on the walls of buildings to deflect anger to someone else and away from himself and his increasingly problematic actions.

Nothing to see here, folks!

My hope is that Rick Grimes becomes the evil he's faced since volume 1, and that somehow, Negan becomes our hero. If that happens, then Kirkman is truly a genius.

But given how Rick has survived 26 volumes and never once been brought back down to earth, I sincerely doubt that Kirkman can let go of his special snowflake to humble him. Instead, all the good guys will nod and intone "Yessir!" and the bad guys will twirl their mustaches and cackle, "I've got you now, my pretty!"
