He's the mistake the bad guys are going to regret making.

Just long enough to have a great in-depth story. Action, romance, religion...well people.
The wars over. They're is lot of fractured "beings" on both sides. Plenty of hate to go around, for each other, and themselves. For the suffering they endured and caused in of a long war. This is a story of the elite. The best at getting the job done. The job is killing and instilling fear in the enemy. What do these characters do when they aren't needed anymore? Killing is great in wartime, not so great in civilian life. So they try to bury their demons their ghost. Just when they have themselves almost fooled. That they're okay. They're called back. They're needed to kill again. Do they want to? Can they? And if they do Will they be able to stop. Will they want to?
I'll repeat myself - a fun read. Rick Partlow has done something few authors in the self published industry seems able to do. He has military ranks and command structures down pat. Don't be surprised, though. When you finish the first Paltrow book you'll find that the man has military experience, enough so that the grammar is absolutely correct. For a reader with that same type of experience, it is a blessing.
I'm not going to outline the series for you, or even one of the books. That's already been handled. What I will do is simply say you'll have fun reading this.
There is only one possible negative that you should plan for. It's very likely you will lose some sleep, it's that good. It's well past my bedtime and for the last two hours my yawns have gotten bigger and come closer and closer to the last one.
There's hard SF, military SF and I'm going to call this cowboy SF.
Everywhere the good guys turn up, there seems to be a gang of bad guys somehow waiting with guns and knives ready to put holes in them. The bad guys inevitable get the worst of it, their remains being shovelled up and taken away in buckets.
The story has twists, turns, traitors and some aliens (always good to see some aliens). If you want a bar room brawl with your spaceships you could do worse than this. If you want Arthur C. Clarke then I suggest you get some Arthur C. Clarke (or Vernor Vinge or Frederik Pohl or James Blish).
Almost a 4 star rating but not quite enough ooohs and ahhhs when the shiny stuff is uncovered.
I don’t know how I haven’t read this series before but I’m definitely glad I did. It was a great tale, superbly told. The only thing wrong was Partlows’ tendency to baffle one with his intelligence. I didn’t really need a physics lesson on how everything worked. I’m not smart enough to know wether he’s full of it or not. But BS or not, this was an extremely entertaining read.
Another great series 😁 Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action and adventure. I enjoyed reading this series and I look forward to more from this author.
My second reading in 4 years and I enjoyed it as much as the first time! Outstanding! I recommend this to all who love action adventure with a big taste of Space Opera!
Relatively complex characters Fairly good plot lots of action.
I admit that I picked it because it was so long! However I really did enjoy it and it lasted me quite a while , It was a good book to read on the treadmill.
These three books are in the same universe that gave us the armored mecha suited Marines and the earlier story of how the Glory Boys came about. There is considerable violent action, intrigue, betrayal and redemption. Didn't want to put it down both nights!
Book one was about a three star, books two and three went downhill rapidly and ended up with a complete "deus ex machina" scene that destroys the value of a sacrifice made by one character.
Nice trilogy, self contained and stand alone, but fits into the author's larger universe. More tech heavy than his earlier works I read, but well done.
