The Locklaine Boys #3

Almost Perfect

Rate this book
Devon McMillon wasn't looking for a knight in shining armor. She didn't need a man to rescue her or take care of her. She just wanted someone who would treat her as an equal and love her for who she was. Unfortunately, even in a city as big as Manhattan, finding a guy who wasn't intimidated by a strong-minded, slightly outspoken woman was proving harder than expected.

Having fallen in love at the age of fifteen Collin Locklaine was convinced he'd already found the woman he was destined to spend the rest of his life with. That was, until she pulled the rug out from under him and ended their relationship. He'd taken care of her, been her protector. And now he was forced to start over again.

A man with a hero complex and a woman with a fierce independent streak should never work. However, fate has other ideas. Besides, sex that good can't be a fluke, right? With an attraction like theirs, Devon and Collin have no other choice but to dive in and see where it leads them. Only one thing is certain. When they finally come together, it's going to be epic.

Spoilers ahead

Devon can't seem to get a guy to accept her as she is, she's loud, brash and doesn't take shit and even when she tried to tone herself down her last relationship didn't work out. With her best friend now in love and living with her beau Devon realizes more than ever what she wants for herself. Thankfully her new friendship with Colin helps to distract her from her dilemma. Unfortunately spending so much time with a gorgeous, funny, kind guy who totally gets her causes Devon to see that the unicorn she thought she'd never find has been right under her nose.....only they're just friends right??

Colin has moved from his hometown after his girlfriend of over 20 years broke up with him when he proposed. He has spent years acting as the protector and defender of his ex and even though his family can see she was no good for him Colin still clings to the past, accepting texts and then calls from his ex. But with all the good was that is Devon right in front of his eyes Colin realizes that what he thought he wanted was the furthest thing from what he needed.

I loved Devon! She made the book for me though in the beginning when she went to meet her ex thinking to take him back I was disappointed she was everything I thought she'd be.
Colin finally lived up to his potential in the latter half of the book. I'd have liked him to firmly shut his ex down from the get go but Asis usual with this author those are the little things that lead to the later drama and the eventual separation of the couple.
I loved the Locklaine family and all the mcs of the previous books are present throughout the others. The girls are hilarious together and the boys are a close knit brood.

Devon had her share of relationships but no details except for her last
Colin had been with one woman and after she broke up with him he had sex with two OW before he met the h
Devon dated Chance(poor guy another woman eventually rejected him) and kissed him a couple times as she thought Colin had feelings for his ex so she was determined to move on
OW drama from Colin's ex, her appearance wasn't big but the effects of their relationship were mentioned frequently until he got his shit together. Nothing too bad or sexual

All in all this was another win for me and further proof of the solid hits this author could produce if she'd just leave the fucking manwhore/doormat plot alone! 😂#sorrynotsorry

4.5 STARS

Devon cannot seem to find a guy who can accept her for who she is, all the men she seems to attract appear to have a hero complex and seem to who want quiet and somewhat meek woman, but she’s one woman who can do her own rescuing and there’s nothing meek about her. Having had her boyfriend dumb her for nothing being entirely herself around him, she’s not in a happy place. But at least she can delight in having helped her bestie Delilah getting her HEA, and her new roommate the hot Colin, has become a great friend. However, the problem is the more time they spend together the more Devon’s feelings for him grow beyond the friend zone, now if Colin could only firmly but the past in the past.

Colin was in one relationship since he was 15, and was ready to propose until his girlfriend of 20 years decided they needed to see and sleep with other people. Everyone around him (friends and family) knew his ex-wasn’t right for him, but Colin remains oblivious until he really starts spending time with Devon and realises what a fab woman she is.

Colin, I wish he had been firmer with his ex and told her to sod of as soon as she started calling him, I know they have a long history, but honestly my empathy was low on that score – I was rooting for Devon too much to care about his conflicted feelings.

There is some OW drama in this, thanks to Colin’s ex, I did want to see a little more of the Devon the author gave me in the book Opposite Attracts, but still she was a treat.

I loved Devon in the last book, so much so that I leaped on this one, and overall, I’m super glad I did. She’s what makes this book for me, and I will defo be re-reading it at some point.

Say it ain't so, it 's over?? All the friends, the Romance the laugh out loud moments. All the good times and craziness is over?! This group of characters could be my best friends they are that awesome. I don't want their stories to end. Super sad!!
The Locklaine Boys Books were each and every one better than the last, filled with fun excitement, romance and craziness. If you ever watched Friends on tv and loved that show than you will fall in love with these books, promise! The men are hot the women amazing if not somewhat crazy and their stories of finding each other brilliant. I need to initiate a BJ dance party with my girlfriends!!! ( get your minds outta the gutters but you have to read the books to know what I'm talking about) HEA, epilogue and amazing stories 4.5 stars.....

Roomies to lovers

Devon and Collin are roommates after Delilah (Devon's best friend) and Richard (Collin's cousin) become a couple and decide to move in together. Both Devon and Collin are getting over breakups, but they have formed a solid and comfortable friendship. But feelings other than friendship start to emerge and soon things start to get even more interesting.

I think this may be my favorite Locklaine Boys book. I love seeing all the previous characters and I especially love Collin's parents.

1.5 stars.

I thought that I'd like this one much better than the others in this series since it's about two friends who become more. And while I do like that trope, I found the H to be too similar to the other Hs in this series, his cousins Rowan, Richard, and Griffin. He was too handsome for his own good, very sweet when he wanted to be, and alpha all the way. The only way in which he differed from his cousin was that he wasn't a manwhore and I appreciated that a lot.

What I didn't like was the lack of real character development, the foul language (which really just wazsn't necessary), the repetitive sex scenes, and the drama with the H's ex. This story was a little too predictable and simple for me to truly enjoy. Had this been my first Jessica Prince book, I probably would have liked it more. As it's not, it was just ok. I did enjoy the dual povs, especially Collin's, since he actually sounded like a guy. I also liked seeing how the other couples were doing and the epilogue was sweet. But that's it. If you're looking for a short and sweet story that won't tax your brain, this one might be for you. It's the perfect filler book between other, more emotionally charged or serious reads.

Esta autora realmente me conquistou.
Adorei os diálogos entre os heróis e as cenas das amigas são hilárias.
Recomendo toda série!

This author really won me over.
I loved the dialogues between the heroes and the scenes of her friends are hilarious.
Recommend the whole series!

“Miss me?” “Like a rash,” he deadpanned. I squeezed his neck tightly. “Ah, baby. You say the sweetest things.”

Não gostei particularmente do início, mas de repente a relação começou a evoluir de uma forma simultaneamente divertida e sexy.
O final da série fez todo o sentido.

Jessica Prince is one of my most treasured author finds this year, and Almost Perfect, only the third book I've read by Ms. Prince, only confirms it. I came late to the Locklaine Boys series, starting with book two - which I never do, but I'd just discovered that I loved Ms. Prince's writing and was willing to take a chance on being a little lost. I wasn't. These books work just fine as standalones, but mark my words, you're going to want to rush out to buy the rest immediately. They are so freaking good. So engaging. So delightful. And just. so. satisfying.

This book clips along at a pretty brisk pace, but I never felt like anything was sacrificed for it. The chemistry between Devon and Collin sparked almost immediately and it was so much fun to read. They're adorable together - from the witty banter, to the thoughtless affection, to the sizzling heat between the sheets (and, er....elsewhere).

I adored strong, sexy, and occasionally clueless Collin. I loved how straightforward he was - and how his inner alpha was balanced by his ability to love and accept Devon's strong will. I loved - so much about him. There was so much sweetness tucked into some seemingly thoughtless moments and I was completely gone over him before I even knew where any of this was going.

And Devon? Where do I even start with Devon? One of the things I have been loving most about Ms. Prince's books is how she writes her females. They're strong and spunky and smart. They're not perfect - they struggle with the same insecurities that we all do (usually) - which I think is exactly where the magic lies. It is so easy to wrap my heart around a character that reminds me so much of me - especially when she doesn't spend the entire story behaving stupidly. I love that SO FREAKING MUCH - and I loved Devon just as much. If not more. Because she's fun, and fierce, and quirky - and she's strong. And I cheered for her so hard throughout the entire book.

I'm sad that this is the end of this short but sweet series. I adored the entire Locklaine family - in all of their overbearing rowdiness - and marked this ending with a full heart and a giant smile on my face. Is there any question what I think you should do here? Read this book (all these books)! Go! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

I would say PERFECT!

I'm crazy about these Locklaine men. I have read them all, but Almost Perfect is my new favorite. This book is Collin and Devon's Book who we met in Opposites Attract. Collin is our lovable Locklaine and Devon our independent lady. Jessica Prince does not disappoint in the romance department with her swoon worthy and steamy scenes. She never fails to keep my interest to the last page. I love how she can intertwine comedy and romance in her books.

Collin and Devon are both moving on from past relationships that have left them a little battered and scared. They form a friendship that leads to a romance with a bit of drama and misunderstanding. Ultimately leading to Collin chasing his lady down. This book is laugh out loud funny to the last page. I'm kind of sad to see the end of the Locklaine boys....so fingers crossed....surely there will be cousins...maybe....the epilogue was a preview of something to come. Either way your going to love this book....

While I did enjoy every moment Collin and Devon were together, their commentaries and open friendliness were all positives, their true beginning is where I wish their story would have started. Literally right after the last book. When Collin moves in.

Quickly a few months have passed and they have hurriedly conquered the weirdness of being male and female roommates, exactly what I wished to read about. Not his stupid ex hang-ups. UGH…I mean he gets in bed with her when Delilah and Richard are on the other side of his wall…wait when did that start…how did that play out? That’s where I wanted this story to take place. That’s where I wanted it all to unravel.

The completely comical feeling and easy friends that Richard and Delilah had were exactly how I wanted this book to go ESPECIALLY how Collin was towards the end of his cousin’s book. But this one took the lead as all those other novels seem to do and put crap in the way. Sure the small flirtiness they gave and the great steam was there but it was a quick switch on to him thinking of her different but still confused. I mean get a grip…a year later and you are confused???? I didn’t think their fall was anything more than lust and skin.
I’m rather lost because I was so high from Richard and Delilah.

Devon McMillon has a crush on her roommate, problem is Collin Locklaine sees her strictly as a friend. She is the opposite of Collin's type and after another blow to her self esteem. Collin seems to find comfort with Devon, she is a bright spot in his day. When one moment leads to something more things begin to change but what happens when Collin's ex reenters the picture intent on getting him back?

This was fun, had several really hilarious moments. I liked this couple together, Devon though I thought was a bit perplexing as she is super confident but yet not as much when it comes to herself. Worth picking up if you are looking for a friends to lover book.

Loved this wrap up

This book wraps up the series with these great characters...at least for this generation. Given that the next book is about Ethan and Eliza I'm hopeful that all the kids named in the epilogue here are all going to get their own stories at some point.

Once again the author does a great job fleshing out the character of Devon and Collin who were introduced earlier. Devon is a hoot and there are quite a few laugh out loud moments. But she is also endearingly insecure and human and at points in the story your heart wrenches for her. The trajectory of Collin's recovery from his bad breakup to being open to love again is well plotted. Once again we are rooting for these people hat I'm sure most readers would love to have as friends.

Great series and I look forward to more books by this author.

When I finally found The One, it would be a man who loved exactly how I was.
Almost perfect and all.

Almost Perfect? Nope, completely perfect is how I would describe this book from Jessica Prince. I’m still a relatively new reader of Ms. Prince’s but man, she’s fast become one of my go-to authors for romance that is sexy and smart, funny and flirty. Why? Uhhh, because her books have heroes like Collin Locklaine and heroines like Devon McMillon.

Heroes and heroines who are flawed but amusing, almost perfect but not quite. Heroes who make you swoon and wanna croon, heroines who are sassy and (mostly) classy. Her characters are so much fun; in each of the four books of hers that I have read so far, I’ve found myself wishing that they were real, and that we could hang out.

Oh man, I would love to hang out with the crew from the Locklaine Boys series. I may have only read this third instalment along with book two, Opposites Attract, but the glimpses I’ve seen of the other Locklaine men and their women have me convinced. They’re my kind of people.

And these books are my kind of books. They’re utterly engaging—once I start, I know I’m not going to want to stop. Almost Perfect was just like that. Unputdownable. Between the delicious burn of Collin and Devon’s attraction—going from roomies, to friends, to something more—and the hilarious and unbreakable bond they have with their friends, I was hooked from start to finish. I enjoyed each and every page. I couldn’t contain my joy at these words—and at the Chance of seeing these characters again in another book… maybe one day?!

Whether you’re looking for a lazy Sunday read, something to improve your mood, a book with an alpha man who cares, an example of strong females and strong female friendships or a story that’ll make your heart soar, you’re sure to find it here. In this is book that’s so much more than Almost Perfect.

“Love… true, real doesn’t come easy. Trust me. If it did, it wouldn’t be worth it.”

My Rating: 4.5 *unicorn* stars

This book was just my kind of a story - funny, sexy, romantic, less drama more fun. I loved it!!
Devon is an independent, outspoken, sarcastic, bold young woman. She hasn't had much luck with men and has been on self-imposed Man Strike. All around her there are happy in love couples and she can't help look for her own unicorn. And she might have found one in her roommate - Collin Locklain. But he is coming out of a twenty year old relationship and might still have feelings for his ex. So best for everyone, she has friend-zoned him.
Collin and Devon are great friends and awesome roommates. However, when Devon is setup on a blind date by one of her girlfriends, Collin makes his move. Collin is jealous and possessive about her but Devon knows he's still not over with his ex. Once Collin has sorted out his feelings and given Devon her space, he cones at her with a Bang and Devon has no choice but to fall in with him.
I loved the fact that Collin never oets Devon hide, sorting out their discussions upfront i loved the hidden vulnerability in Devon. She may be a badass most of the time, but with Collin she is a marshmallow. I loved every single one of the Locklain family. There was hardly any drama and only super fun.
When its a end of series book, somehow the epilogue makes it so much more beautiful. For anyone who loves friend-to-lovers, funny and sexy roommate romance this book is a must read!!

What a fantastic story, as always from Jessica Prince . I love the Locklaine Boys and I think Collin just may be my favourite, although I probably say that after each of these books I read.

This is Devon and Collin's story there roommates and are totally comfortable in each others company.

Devon was in a relationship until recently and has sworn off men for the time been while Collin is still a little hung up on his ex fiancee which I suppose is understandable when you spend almost half your life with someone. Devon has a crush on Collin but she feels he just sees her as one of the guys and not someone her could see himself having a relationship with. Devon's friends decide it's time to try and set her up on a date but when Collin finds out something inside him snaps maybe he does have feelings for her after all but has he already left it to late to let her know exactly how he feels?

This story is more than perfect! I fell in love with this book instantly, and developed a huge girl crush on Devon. She's perfect being almost perfect, with her thoughts of unicorns (not the mystical animal but the perfect man that can rarely be found) along with her independence and love of yoga pants. Devon just makes me smile. Collin is a unicorn, the kind of man women go stupid for, but he's firmly in the friend zone because they're roommates. But who can blame a girl for fantasizing about said unicorn?! Too bad Collin is still hung up on his long time ex, or is he? A little jealousy goes a long way to make people realize their true feelings.

This was such a fun read...smoking hot and laugh out loud funny!

Disappointed

This was so shockingly bad, I'm still getting over it. I looked forward to Devons story because she was funny, fiery and independent woman. She still was in this novel but Collin ruined the whole thing for me. He was so overly friendly and affectionate with Devon that I thought he was gay. I mean cuddling in bed, living with a guy you like but you both agree the relationship is platonic but he rubs your feet, comforts you, hugs you and he's only a friend. Screams gay, I'm sorry. Then Devon goes on a really hot date with a guy I was cheering for and Collin all of a sudden in a jealous rage turns alpha male over night and makes her come against the wall. Wait what??! He remains this unrecognizable caveman complete with cheesy nicknames and annoying sayings. I just couldn't. A total train wreck.

After reading "Opposites Attract" I couldn't wait for Devon and Collins story. With that being said this book just didn't work for me at all. I couldn't connect with characters the way I did in the first book. The story didn't hold my interest and everything just fell flat for me while reading. The couple are missing the same quality that they had in the first book. I was expecting more passion but I didn't get that feeling while reading. I was so looking forward to this book couple but I came out disappointed after reading. Even though this book didn't work for me please don't let my review stop you from reading.

A great conclusion to a very comical series. I never laughed so much reading a book let alone a romance. I wish I have friends like Navie, Pepper, Delilah, and Devon. They sounded fan-freaking-tastic! I'm not sure if people really talk like they do to each other but if so, I'm so jelly. The Locklaine men sounded hot and the dialogue between the men were funny to.

After reading a lot of emotional charged or angst driven books, I was happy to find something so relaxing. I didn't have overthink with these books. I was simply able to sit back and enjoy. Of course laughing helps you enjoy it all.

There are a lot of similarities between the heros and heroines but there are some differences as well. I'm so glad I found these books because they are very entertaining.

Loved it!!!!

Loved final book in the Locklaine series Collin and Griffin's stories are still my favorites in the series to date. Loved this sweet roommates to lovers story. Loved the fact that Jessica ended the series this way and also gave us glimpses of our other favorite couples in this series. But I gave it a five star review because that epilogue was everything and more I was hoping for, well definitely recommend to anyone who wants to read a hot saucy Romantic story.

The 3rd book in my favorite series by Jessica was fantastic.
Collin LOCKLAINE is not like his cousins. He is still hung up on a girl that broke his heart a year ago.
But fate makes its way into his life in the form of a spitfire named Devon.
she has a no tolerance level for just about anything. She and Collin have a push and pull thing going on. The way things happen for them is great

I fell in hate with this book within the first couple chapters, than completely in love with the next few chapters. It's completely insane how jessica manages to make you feel so much in the span of 200 or so pages. That I believe is what great authors are meant to do and this book was absolutely spot on.

Funny but also at times heartbreaking story. You know when someone is a joker, always full of confidence and can take it on the chin, Poor Devon, she had a tough shield and a sweet heart.
