To celebrate his tenth birthday the whole Humphrey series has a smart new livery, repositioning him alongside perennial favourites such as Winnie-the-Pooh and Paddington..When Humphrey learns that school is ending, he was unsqueakably worried. What would he do once he lost his job as classroom pet?It turns out that summer is wilder than Humphrey thought school could ever be. He sees new sights, makes new friends, and has FUN-FUN-FUN! But he also has to deal with new creatures, Og's mysterious disappearance, and the scary-sounding Howler!
From kindergarten through graduation, I attended school in Affton, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Then I graduated from Webster College (now Webster University) in Webster Groves, Missouri. Of course, I majored in English and kept on writing.
After working in advertising in St. Louis, Missouri and in Chicago, Illinois, I eventually moved to Southern California. First, I worked for Disneyland (fun job!) in the advertising department. The monorail whizzed past my window all day long. Then I worked at the Disney Studio in Burbank, where I had another fun job, writing and producing television and radio commercials and theatrical trailers (previews of coming attractions) for everything from re-releases of "Cinderella" and "Fantasia" to "Tex."
When the Disney Channel was started, I became a writer and story editor for WELCOME TO POOH CORNER. Since then, I've written more than 200 episodes of animated and live-action television programs including MADELINE, DOUG, BOBBY'S WORLD, DUMBO'S CIRCUS, THE PUZZLE PLACE, CAMP CANDY, LITTLE MOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, WHERE'S WALDO, FRAGGLE ROCK and ZOOBILEE ZOO. That's right, I write cartoons! I also wrote a number of award-winning afterschool specials and many interactive CD-ROM programs, including the award-winning "Berenstain Bears on their Own," "Richard Scarry's Busiest Neighborhood Ever," and "The Crayon Factory."
A made-for-television family movie I wrote, MARY CHRISTMAS, starring John Schneider, Cynthia Gibb and Tom Bosley, aired on the PAX network in 2002. It was the highest rated movie in PAX history and has aired each Christmas season since then.
I have been fortunate enough to win a Writer's Guild of America Award and three Humanitas Prizes (as well as two other nominations). In 2002, I won a Daytime Emmy Award for MADELINE, after two previous Emmy nominations. More recently, I received the Christopher Award for FRIENDSHIP ACCORDING TO HUMPHREY, many children's choice awards for THE WORLD ACCORDING TO HUMPHREY and was inducted into the Affton (MO) School District Hall of Fame.
My Book is called Holidays According to Humphrey. Humphrey is a hamster that is a class pet. He tells about his school and his holidays he had. This book is written by Betty G. Birney. This is sort of a diary where Humphrey writes about adventures he had. I chose to read this book because I was interested to know how a hamster thinks of his vacation he had.
First Humphrey is at his school Longfellow School and doesn’t really get why every student in his class, Room 26 is excited to leave school for the holidays. Humphrey, of course, didn’t know what holidays were so he got stressed out because he thought that the students were going to leave him forever. Humphrey originally came from Pet-O-Rama where he got picked out by students and Ms.Mac. Ms.Mac was Humphrey’s favorite person on earth. She brought Humphrey to Room 26. It was a huge surprise that Humphrey got to go to a camp with Ms.Mac! Humphrey still really wanted to go to a camp with students that were in his class like, Golden Miranda, Speak- Up-Sayeh & Lower-Your-Voice-A.J., Of course, these were just nicknames from Humphrey that he gave to them. Humphrey went to a camp that was called Camp Happy Hollow. Every night he was kept in a different cabin, (the cabin that was cleanest). The cabins were: The Robins, The Blue Jays, The Chickadees and The Bobwhites. Every cabin comes to The Clash Of The Cabins, where they compete against each other and see who will spend the night at The Haunted Hollow. It is a haunted house where the “Howler” stays. No one has ever seen it or maybe they have and just kept it a secret. In this book, there is no main conflict but there are small words. At the end of the book, you would not have expected what happened at the Haunted Hollow, you have to read to find out.
The story made me feel happy because a lot of jokes are in this book and you will definitely laugh. This book is very believable even though it is about a hamster’s diary. My favorite part of the book was the end which was exciting to read. I rate this book a 7/10. The recommended age would probably be a 9-10. I love how this book is sort of fantasy but looks realistic.
This is a thrilling and funny all about Humphrey and Og. In this adventure they are at camp happy hollow, a very long way away from home. At camp, there are a few familiar faces and some people Humphrey has never seen before. Lots of people weren’t feeling very happy and Humphrey wants to help them enjoy camp happy hollow!
This is a story about a hamster who is the classroom pet. Humphrey got to find out what camp was like. and has lots of adventures. It is written as if the hamster is talking which so you got to see everything from the hamsters point of view.
A book I can see being enjoyed by many young children. Humphrey the classroom hamster goes on a holiday camp over the summer with his friend og the frog. It is written in the POV of the hamster, an interesting change to a humans perspective. Great for pet loving children.
