Miss Frost Ices the Imp

Rate this book
Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.

Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost’s daughter, Santa Claus’s niece, heir to the Winter Throne and now… private investigator. Sort of.

When she buys a sealed box at an estate sale and cat-related circumstances cause that box to be opened, life in Nocturne Falls starts to go haywire. Jayne has no choice but to figure out what she unleashed and how to recapture it.

But Jayne suspects the woman behind the box is hiding something. Something that could cause a town resident serious trouble. Or worse, to lose their life.
With the help of her two favorite guys, a sexy vampire and a hot summer elf, and a few new friends, Jayne tackles what feels like an impossible mission. And winds up almost iced herself.

Ah, Jayne Frost and her love of all things sugar, decisions to make between the two men in her life, and her supernatural problems. After shopping at a garage sale, Jayne comes home with a little fancy box that her cat knocks off the counter. Unfortunately, it turns out to be bewitched, and terrible things start turning up around town. Of course, only great things happen to Jayne. Her refrigerator is constantly stocked with Dr. Pepper and suddenly her cat can talk! Too bad she didn’t wish for a solution to her lukewarm feelings about the two men hovering in her current orbit. Alas. As she and the guys try to figure out what’s up with the mysterious spells, and who could be behind it, hijinks continue to go down. Cute and perfect for when you’re in the mood for a light cozy.

The best way to describe this would be as comfort reading. Just like with comfort food you know you will get something you like, it puts you at ease and the entire experience is simply relaxing and very enjoyable.

Painter has created a fun and interesting world with Nocturne Falls. The world building is brilliant. It's intricate yet lightweight. Which keeps this series firmly in the easy and pleasurable reads, but it's detailed enough to make each book set in Nocturne Falls unique. Painter mixes myth and folklore from all over the world and adds her own little spin to it. The result is perfect as a backdrop of the series.

Each book I read set in Nocturne Falls, makes me like the characters. And with Jayne Frost being a spin-off from the Nocturne Falls Series, we have gotten quite a few characters. Re-meeting them is priceless. So I was beyond pleased to have Delayne and Birdi featuring in this book and quite a few more of them... See comfort reading? Seeing the old characters through Jayne's eye is refreshing, it shows a new side to them but it's also like meeting old friend. In my opinion this is a sign that Painter is a master at her craft. It's seemingly simple, yet it's masterfully done, again just on point. And even after finishing, I can't wait to read the next book set in Nocturne Falls.

The plot is fun, it has a cool little paranormal mystery, it well paced and very entertaining.

Now looks at her rating. My ONLY downer on this: the romance. It just doesn't work for me. And to be frank, I can't even critic it much. There is a lot of chemistry, great companionship and communication. Jayne is super honest, I really appreciate it. Buuut I ..sighs.. I can't warm up to it- at all. I can't even chose a camp. I just wish there would be a choice made and we could move on. I think though, many reader will love this and they will be happily choosing camps and root for a possible outcome. Me, nah, I just want to be done with that phase. I really wish I felt different, but I don't. Which is why this is only 3.5 Stars rather than 4.

So, if you wanna find a series to curl up with and just enjoy- this could be it for you. It certainly is for me.

It's a sweet little story with a great cat. But I don't get the 'Romance' angle. A cozy love triangle? That's about as interesting as watching grass grow. Jayne spends about half the book using both of the hot guys to solve her mystery while having zero intent to chose between them. I think the story would be more entertaining if we got to know Jane's family better. On second thought I think I'd like the books better without Jayne.

Audiobook review

I don't particularly care for the narrator's inflection in this Jayne Frost series; however, her stories fit perfectly into the Nocturne Falls Universe.

Jayne Frost, daughter of Jack Frost, buys a beautiful decorative box at an estate sale. Who knew that one purchase could create such mayhem in the small town of Nocturne Falls? Especially since that town is quite eccentric enough, even without a chaos imp running around.

Jayne will have to rid Nocturne Falls of the imp, solve the mystery of his presence, and manage her own complicated love triangle in this second Jayne Frost mystery.

Jayne, now officially the manager of the Santa store in Nocturne Falls, goes wandering early one morning to find things to ‘personalize’ her apartment. Wandering that includes visiting estate sales. Where she buys a velvet Elvis painting (a cat dressed up like Elvis), another painting, salt shakers, a rug, and a decorative box that she can’t open. Which leads to . . . well, stuff, but I’ll skip that stuff to get to . . . leads to her cat, naturally, knocking the box off a table, which causes the top to pop open. Jayne wasn’t in the room at the time, though she heard it.

In rapid succession of weirdness, Jayne realizes that ‘stuff’ is happening. Numero Uno – someone is in her apartment talking! Jayne finally tracks down her unexpected visitor only to find that it’s Spider. Her cat. Who can now talk – English. Numero due involves Dr. Pepper, but let’s move on.

Weridness spreads through the small town – a woman who exits a shower to find that she has become a smurf (okay, just that her skin has been turned blue), a fire engine is on top of the firehouse, the town stinks of fish, etc. Naturally the entire town, and I mean the entire town, blames Jayne so she has to ‘solve the mystery’. Which involves an Imp. Which I mention, because that’s in the book title.

Good solid story.

This is the second book of this series that I’ve listened to. Jane’s voice boarders on too cutesy at times but doesn’t quite cross over except very rarely. I don’t completely agree that the voice matches the images the story gives me of the character, but it’s still an enjoyable tale.
Jane purchases a box at an estate sale and it contains far more than anyone bargained for. After a couple of wishes come true, Spider can talk, and her supply of Dr. Pepper never runs out, but also mischievous things keep happening randomly in town irking the towns people. Spiders knocking the box over had created quite a bit of chaos and it’s up to Jane to put things right and learn the secrets of a very unhappy recluse in town.
These are good brain candy stories. Sometimes you want to be entertained and not reconsider how you go down your path in life. These are good for the entertainment part. They May make you crave pizza and sweets, but also have a nice break from reality at Nocturne Falls.

This case lacked a lot from the first one – there was no intensity or sense of real danger. I also felt the author seemed a lot more interested in Jayne’s love life than I was. It took up a lot of book and I felt the mystery lacked the substance it needed to keep me engaged.

The book was also almost “syrupy” sweet in context. Everybody seemed okay with everything and no one got mad or upset which seemed out of character for some the of Nocturne Falls characters. I just wasn’t engaged in this one. The mystery lacked any excitement and I’m not a fan of love triangles. The author relied way too heavily on the latter to carry book since the mystery was obviously lacking.

Good things I enjoyed were the inclusion of many of the Nocturne Falls characters from other books. I also loved the nicknames Grayson and Cooper used for each other even though they both a little “too okay” with the situations.

The narrator was good but I wish these books could be co-narrated. Hollis McCarthy has nailed the Jayne Frost characters such as Jayne, Grayson, Cooper and the store elves but BJ Harrison owns the voices of the Nocturne Falls citizens. But Hollis’s narration of the Nocturne Falls character wasn’t bad but it wasn’t BJ’s either.

I'm starting to see some similarities between Jane Frost and one of my other all-time favorite Stephanie Plum...
1. Constantly eating sweets and never gaining a pound☑️
2. Constantly getting herself into crazy situations☑️
3. Involved in a love triangle, where neither of the guys seem to care that there is another guy involved, That I'm assuming will never be resolved☑️
4. OK, well maybe that's where the similarities and... Love this series, love Jane, and I could be bothered by this love triangle, but I've forgiven Stephanie for 23 books, so I guess I will forgive Jane as well.... I have not read the original Noctern Falls series, but now I have every intention to... I love this town, I love how the author has Inc. so many different elements, and it just works seamlessly... I mean the niece of Santa Claus is dating a vampire, who would've thought??? Can't wait to read the next book in the series, and to get started on the original series....

Jayne goes to an estate sale and comes back with a box full of mischief.

I love the crazy antics that happen in this story, but have no idea who I’m rooting for between Greyson and Cooper. They both have good and bad qualities.

Footnote: 1) it’s amazing how many different candy/cookie/muffin/etc. combinations ‘Delany’ thinks up.

Fave scenes: the talking cat, meeting the Genie, Pepsi water and the fudge recipe.

Miss Frost returns for her second adventure in what proved to be a more light-hearted mystery, but one that still showed the darker underside of Nocturne Falls. The plot is extremely straightforward. Having moved to Nocturne Falls, Miss Frost visits an estate sale to help her furnish her apartment and purchases a decorative box that wasn’t supposed to be for sale. The box is knocked over in her apartment releasing an imp—a chaotic and mischievous spirit which begins wreaking playful but annoying havoc on the town that threatens to reveal their supernatural secrets. (For example, it’s hard to explain how the fire engine truck got on top of the fire station.)

In trying to figure out how to get the imp back in the box, Miss Frost is forced to learn about the woman who previously owned the box—a human who ran a business in magical artifacts and who doesn’t appear to have had a good deed in mind when she acquired the imp.

All in all, this is another fun book in the Nocturne Falls setting. Jane Frost continues to positively remind me of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum. She’s far more competent than Stephanie, but she’s gathering a group of zany collaborating friends and she has the same sort of man problems. The one thing that surprised me most about the novel was the reappearance of Frost’s ex-best friend, Lark. It makes me wonder if Ms. Painter is planning a future novel around the treacherous pal. I guess I’ll have to keep reading to find out.

This wasn't as good as the first but I still enjoyed it. I liked the Imp especially at the end. What a weird name though blueberry. I liked the fact that her cat could talk. Being a cat owner that's exactly how I imagine what my cat wants to say. I'm hungry yep all the time. I liked the mystery but it was more the chaos of the Imp rather then who how and why.

”Boring is exactly what I want.”
- Jayne Frost

I understand dear, but think of your readers. While it’s always nice to be in Nocturne Falls with friends, the mystery was boring. Worse, Jayne’s love triangle is reminding me of Anita Blake - Cooper is becoming a Richard. Nooo!!!

Well I finally finished this one. It took awhile. Not cause it was bad just I’ve been in a reading slump. It was a cute story and I like the town, charters and her cat Spider. Only thing I didn’t like was the love triangle. I don’t care for this trope. It took away from my enjoyment of the story.

Intensely chaotic.

Well we are starting to see how Jayne gets into trouble. I like how she has Cooper and Greyson to help her. I’m not sure how I feel about the relationships though because I don’t feel the chemistry. The imp was pretty chaotic and I loved the changes with Spider.

A light, easy read. Only problem is that while reading I was craving cakes and pizzas and stuff! Reading about a winter elf who consumes sugary food because that's part of her genetic make-up makes me hungry LOL.

I am surprised that I picked up the second book in the series so fast but I am still in the mood for Christmas. In book 2 of the series we follow Jayne Frost as she comes across a mysterious box for sale. She purchases it and inside is a magical imp that grants wishes and also chaos. She and her friends have to find the imp and put it back in the box, while trying to figure out who was behind the imp being in the box in the first place. This was a solid addition in the series and I do love the town of Nocturnal Falls. Looking forward to another entry into this world soon.

This is better than the first book, and I'm so happy that we get to see the other Nocturne Falls characters, especially from the earlier books.
I'm only giving this 4 stars because I'm not comfortable with Jayne dating two guys at the same time and both guys are totally fine with it.

This is the second book in the Jayne Frost mysteries and whilst you probably could read this as a stand alone personally I think you would enjoy it a lot more with the back story from book 1. Although it is a sort of spin off from the amazing Nocturne Falls series this is really more a series adjacent and I think fans of one will love the other and vice versa, and the BEST bit for me is the crossover characters that pop up because it all being set in one town.

Having LOVED book 1 I really didn't thin Kristen would be able to top that but she has done it again. Knowing the characters (and bringing in a beloved side character from the main Nocturne Falls series) made this a real page turner. These books are light, fun, and have enough mystery and intrigue to keep you turning the pages but without making your brain hurt.

All set with a happy ever after at least mystery wise .... the love interest side is still up in the air. Personally I am 100% #TeamGreyson ... and that is as close to a spoiler as I will give in my review.

Now if I could just find an actual realtor to sell me a house in Nocturne Falls I would be all set. Speed reading is totally a supernatural power! would fit right in.

An easy 5 stars from me and I can't wait for the next one! V""V

I was so disappointed in this book. Of all the things I was the most proud of the author for accomplishing with in the first book, she sure managed to fall off the ice on this one. This book was way too juvenile (especially with the cartoonish narration on Audible). The cozy mystery in the first book was well done but here there was barely any mystery or story really and more of just fumbling around. You know, I'm not even sure if this even counts as the same genre because it just didn't feel like a cozy mystery at all.

I was sick and tired of the love triangle too. This woman is twenty-six or something years old, done with college and a manager at her job, but it was like she was suddenly a thirteen year old girl stealing kisses from a couple of guys she simply cannot choose between, anymore than she can choose between her candies. There was no development whatsoever in these relationships and not any character development either in any of the characters - not even Jane Frost.

All in all, a cute book for teens, but the first one was for adults. Also it was rather boring and the narration irritating. The big lesson is: write characters in the age ranges of the readers you intend them for and have consistency between books in the same series to avoid bad reviews!

This book was a disappointment. I wanted to love it. I like Jayne Frost and I like the town and all the supporting characters. The mystery was charming and lighthearted. However, I absolutely hated the romantic plot. I despised how she was dating two men and just couldn’t decide, the poor dear. She was being selfish and cruel and it turned me off completely.

Second in the Jayne Frost spin-off magical realism mystery series (6.5 in the Nocturne Falls Universe) focuses on the princess who is heir to the Winter throne, Jayne Frost, living in Nocturne Falls, Georgia.

My Take
Painter uses first person protagonist point-of-view from Jayne's perspective so we learn all about the lying Lark and Jayne's conflicts in dating both Coop and Greyson. I can't believe that Lark is trying to slip back into Jayne's and Coop's lives!

The story moves along nicely, and Miss Frost Ices the Imp is both action- and character-driven with plenty of laughs. I was also really peeved at Francine. She sure has a strong sense of entitlement! She wants that box back, she should refund Jayne's money.

There's quite a bit of back history involving Cooper, Jayne, and Lark that revolves around how important it is to communicate in a relationship.

Ooh, nobody appears to be unhappy that the Greshams are leaving town. Seems they are not respectful of anything about Nocturne Falls.

I do envy Jayne's metabolism. Dang, she can EAT. Speaking of food, Aunt Martha's fudge makes an impact . . . and there may be some business to be done.

It sure is a good thing the town's citizens work so well together. It's much easier to plot mischief, lol.
"Helpful? Is that the mood this put you in? . . . This dress must be broken."
The Ellinghams don't have much of a part in this, which gives us a better opportunity to meet other characters who live in Nocturne Falls. As for that Birdie, she's a joyous constant, whom you can't help but enjoy.

And that Dr Pepper never does run out . . .

The Story
It's one disaster after another: black wedding dresses, the Nocturne Falls water is no longer working, fire engines where they should not be, and so much more.

It is and, well, it isn't really, Jayne's fault, but she does have to capture whatever was in that box and make things right.

The Characters
Jayne Frost is a Winter elf, Jack Frost’s daughter, Santa Claus’ niece, heir to the Winter Throne, and now . . . private investigator who uses the Saint Nick Slide to get into buildings. On the side, she manages Santa's Workshop in Nocturne Falls. Spider is her rescued cat. Aunt Martha is Mrs Claus. Her specialty is eggnog fudge, and she has an interest in woodworking. Oh yeah, mama! Tempus Sanders, a.k.a. the Sandman, works with Santa on Christmas Eve and has written a book ANY parent would kill for.

Nocturne Falls is . . .
. . . the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. Most of it is owned by the Ellinghams, a vampire family whose matriarch is Elenora. She has three grandsons: Sebastian, Hugh (he's married to the pregnant Delaney who owns the sweets shop and owns a beast of a cat, Captain ( The Vampire's Mail Order Bride , 1)), and Julian, who lives in the penthouse apartment in the Excelsior said to have been built just for him. Alice Bishop, a very powerful witch, is Elenora's secretary and companion.

Birdie Caruthers, a werewolf, is the sheriff's aunt and the receptionist for the sheriff's department. She's a core character. Blythe is one of Hank's deputies. The sheriff is Hank Merrow who's married to Ivy ( The Werewolf Meets His Match , 2). They have a son, Charlie.

Juniper (she's been seeing the fae Pete over at the pharmacy), Buttercup, Holly, and Kip are employees at Santa's Workshop Toy Store. Snowy Saturdays is when the toy store sees some extra special magic. Toly had been the previous manager (and one of Uncle Kris' former tinkers).

Cooper Sullivan, a summer elf, is a fireman and Jayne's ex-boyfriend from college. The lying Lark is Jayne's former best friend. Greyson Garrett, a vampire and jack-of-all-trades, is Jayne's current boyfriend.

Corette Williams, a witch and the coven secretary, owns the town bridal shop, Ever After. She's engaged to Stanhill, Hugh's rook. Pandora Williams is one of Corette's three daughters, all witches, and she is the best Realtor in town. She's dating Prof Cole Van Zant who has a daughter, Kaley, a young witch ( The Professor Woos the Witch , 4). Piper Hodges' family owns the Tombstone , the local newspaper. Marigold Williams, a green witch, runs the local florist shop. Matilda Sharpe, a green witch, is the Mistress of [magical] Bees and has a brother and sister who own the local winery. Imari Zephara is a genie who works as a massage therapist at the Nocturne Falls Spa. Bridget Merrow, a werewolf and sister to Hank and Titus (the fire chief), owns and runs Howler's, a bar and grill. Sam, another werewolf, Ivy's brother, and a fireman, is Bridget's boyfriend. Myrtis Lobb is the Peach Cobbler Queen. I Scream is an amazing ice cream parlor. Mummy's Diner is a fabulous choice for breakfast. Café Claude. The Hallowed Bean is better'n Starbucks.

Bryn Anderson of Century Estate Sales is running the auction for Francine Gresham, who reads cards, deals in the black market, and is newly divorced from Roger, a psychometrist. The Greshams' shop was where Delaney's Delectables is now. Elite Movers will finish the job. Saul Zabarski will be mailing the box. Blueberry is an imp.

The jinn family includes genies, pixies, sprites, ghouls, and imps.

The Cover and Title
The cover is pale blue with a border of white snowflakes along the top edge. The snow globe in the center features a partially open chest with a green miasma oozing out of it. Its wooden stand has a label on it with the series info and the black Spider with his green eyes prances off to the left. The hip, summer-clad Jayne with her blue hair and sunglasses is on the right in her fuchsia tank top and hip-hugger blue jean shorts. At the top is the title in white with a heavy black shadow around it with the universe series info under it in black. The author's name is below the snow globe and also in white, but less fancy and with a softened black shadow. Beneath that is an info blurb in white with a blurry, black background.

The title is more metaphorical than reality, as Miss Frost Ices the Imp and saves the town.

'SNOW COOL' DELICIOUS !!!
Title: Miss Frost Ices The Imp: A Nocturne Falls Mystery
Series: Jayne Frost
Author: Kristen Painter
Designation: Book Two of Series, Standalone Novel, NO Cliffhanger
My Rating: FIVE DELIGHTFULLY STARS*****
I love, love, love Kristen Painter and totally smitten with her Nocturne Falls spinoff series, Jayne Frost! I fell head over heels for Painter's work last year after reading The Vampire's Mail Order Bride, the first book of her Nocturne Falls Series and have been a diehard fan ever since. When I learned Painter was introducing a new spinoff series which would be more supernatural cozy mystery rather than paranormal/supernatural romance, I could hardly wait to get it in my hot little hands and Painter did not disappoint. Don't get me wrong, there is a little romance, but unlike the Nocturne Falls Series which features a different Nocturne Falls couple finding romance in each book, the Jayne Frost Series primarily features...well...Jayne Frost, winter elf extraordinaire who just happens to be Santa's niece as well as Jack Frost's daughter, making her the Winter Princess and heir to the Winter Throne. She's also the newest resident of Nocturne Falls now that she's accepted the permanent position as manager of Santa's Workshop Toy Store in Nocturne Falls, Georgia. Oh, and I forgot to mention she's also an amateur sleuth...an investigator, of sorts. I adored the first book, Miss Frost Solves A Cold Case, but the second release of the series, Miss Frost Ices The Imp, totally blew me away! (Get it? Blew me away as in winter storm? I know...a terrible pun.) Miss Frost Ices The Imp is a sweet, well-crafted, fast-paced, standalone whodunit with NO cliffhanger. It's also cute, exciting, original, imaginative, and clever with a completely unique twist on cozy mysteries, and filled to the brim with a plethora of supernatural beings, snappy banter, delicious humor, a little sweet romance and of course, mystery and suspense. The narrative is beautifully written with a first-person perspective from none other than Jayne Frost, Winter Princess, and daughter of the Winter King, Jack Frost. The dialogue is smart, witty and flows effortlessly. Painter is an exceptionally gifted storyteller who excels at building vividly depicted worlds for her readers and populating them with an extraordinary cast of captivating characters that literally explode from the pages of her books. They take on a life of their own and grab your imagination as well as steal your heart. Which brings me to another thing I truly enjoy about Painter's books. Her characters cross over between the Nocturne Falls and Jayne Frost series. So, if you have a favorite character, or characters, from Painter's Nocturne Falls series, you're more than likely to find them in the Jayne Frost series as well. Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am, for all ages and anyone who loves a sweet little cozy mystery with a smidge of light romance! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! Was I entertained? Gloriously entertained! Sounds like a five star read to me!

Premise: For all you folks who haven't heard of Nocturne Falls, it's a fictional town in Georgia which celebrates Halloween 365 days a year and they celebrate it big time since it's the town's main source of income. Yup, tourists flock to Nocturne Falls where the streets are populated every single day with all manner of supernatural creatures dressed as gargoyles, vampires, witches, elves, genies, werewolves, valkyries and anything else your mind can imagine. Except they aren't just dressed as these creatures.....they actually are these creatures, and they're hiding in plain sight of the entire world. Oh my! And they not only live in Nocturne Falls, they make their living by owning businesses which cater to the human tourists. But how could you not love it with haunts (sorry, another bad pun) like the I Scream Shop, Hallowed Bean, Howlers Bar & Grill, The Poison Apple, Illusions, Insomnia, Ever After, Mummy's Diner, The Gingerbread Inn, Delaney's Delectables, The Black Rose D & B (*snicker* a Dead and Breakfast rather than a Bed and Breakfast *giggle*), a newspaper called The Toombstone and Santa's Workshop. Santa's Workshop??? How did that one get into the Halloween themed Nocturne Falls? Well, every town needs a toy store, right? And this store is only one of many located around the world owned by none other than the fat man in the red suit. That's right! The chain of toy stores is owned by Kris Kringle, aka Santa Claus, from the North Pole and is overseen by Santa's right-hand man, the Winter King Jack Frost, who just happens to also be his brother-in-law. Yup, family business and all that.

Jayne Frost had not been very happy with the path her life had taken...until a recent turn of events. It was hard enough being an almost thirty-year-old single elf at the North Pole, but add being the Winter Princess, the only daughter and heir of Jack Frost the Winter King, and that equals no friends and no social life. Well, she had a best friend, but Lark tried to steal her college boyfriend, summer elf Cooper Sullivan, and as a result, she and Cooper are no longer on the fast track to the altar. Six months ago, Jayne's doting father sent her to Nocturne Falls on an undercover secret mission to investigate the disappearance of several Santa's Workshop employees. Well, thank heavens, she was able to solve that little mystery and lived to tell the tale, but it had been quite dangerous and as it turns out, not so little. As a result of her success, she's now the manager of Santa's Workshop and a brand new resident of Nocturne Falls for the past six months. Her life is really looking up. She even has not one, but two boyfriends...kinda. Remember that college boyfriend, summer elf Cooper Sullivan? Well, he's a hot, hunky fireman in Nocturne Falls. Oh my! And it seems, he's determined to win her back. Unfortunately, there's one little snag. She also really likes, Greyson Garrett, a handsome charismatic vampire she met when she first arrived in Nocturne Falls on her undercover secret mission. Now, both seem determined to win the affections of the Winter Princess! Oh dear! Jayne has decided she's an equal opportunity dater and wants to give both men their due, but she's been so busy with her new duties as store manager and getting settled in her new life, she hasn't had a lot of free time for socializing. And it looks like things may only get worse after her recent estate sale excursion with friend and fellow employee Juniper. She only wanted to pick up a few items to make her apartment a little more homey. And what happens? Disaster, that's what! Out of all the people at the estate/yard sale, she has to be the one to buy a decorative box which she later learns is some sort of supernatural artifact. Oh, and it contained an imp who was released when her cat Spider knocked the box off the table and the lid flew off. And now, Spider can talk, and she has a never ending supply of Dr Pepper! What? Well, the Dr Pepper thing may not be so bad since it is her favorite drink but a talking cat??? Oh no! If that isn't bad enough, the imp escaped and is causing devilish mischief all over town, including changing the water of Nocturne Falls to Dr Pepper. Huh??? It couldn't get any worse! Yes, it could! Her parents are coming for a visit very soon and the folks of Nocturne Falls are all very upset. She needs to get this mess under control and straightened out pronto. It looks like Jayne Frost has another case to solve. She needs to find out where the imp came from and why it's here? Looks like she'll need Greyson, Cooper and quite a few of the other supernatural residents of Nocturne Falls to help her solve the mystery. A Winter elf does love their sweets but has the sugar-loving winter elf princess finally bitten off more than she can chew this time? We'll see! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Cute cozy mystery

It's amazing how strange people look at you when you're walking down the aisle at Walmart and let out a chuckle here and a giggle there. But that is exactly what I did and the culprit was this audiobook. I have decided it's the only way to shop.

Jayne Frost, with the aid of her cat, Spider lets a magical being out of the box and loose on the unsuspecting citizens of Nocturne Falls. Let's just say chaos ensues. Which is what had me laughing my way down the store aisles. In this, the second book of the Jane Frost series, we get to meet more residents of Nocturne Falls, as Jayne tries to recapture the mischief-maker before it destroys the town or reveals that most of the townspeople are not human. But no worries, Jayne has the help from her erstwhile suiters, Yep, that's plural. She has the hotty summer elf, a long-lost love from her college days, and a sexy vampire who is all too happy to aid and abet Jayne in her not-so-legal means of sleuthing.

I was completely captivated throughout this book and look forward to reading/listening to the next book in the series.

Oh Fudgesticks !

Jayne Frost, Winter Princess and new Manager of Nocturne Falls Santa's Workshop Store, has a problem. Or rather, she has several of them, but one major one that takes precedence over everything else in her lie at the moment. No, it's not having to choose between the two handsome hunks in her life. Although that will be inevitable at some point, just not now. And no, not trying to talk Aunt Martha into sharing her recipe with Delaney. Heck, even her Mom can't swing that one! But what do you do about a Chaos Imp? Especially one she feels responsible for, since it was her cat, Spider, who set it free to loose havoc on the entire town. - Definitely a fun read ! And let me say if I had to choose a partner-in-crime, Aunt Birdie hands down gets it, as long as no one gets arrested! -

Honestly I think this is the last book I'm reading from this series because..

1. Her character is disgusting, she is dating two guys who love her and she's just dating around perfectly fine with stringing them along

2. Apparently she doesn't even pick one of them (Greyson gets his own book The Vampire's Priceless Treasure )

Does anyone know if Cooper gets his own book? I guess he wouldn't right because someone said in a review for book 4 that he leaves to help his sick mother, right? They don't even live in the North Pole or Nocturne Falls.

3. The mystery was calm which I appreciate it not being a thriller but it didn't have much story to it sadly
