A Shade of Doubt is book twelve in the series, A Shade of Vampire, by Bella Forrest. This book, like the others, is full of non-stop danger while absolutely nothing goes right.



Annora is now human and is with Rose and Caleb. They find themselves on a deserted island and Annora is not happy at all with Rose as competition for Caleb’s affection. Is the island truly deserted? Will Annora accept that she has lost Caleb or will she hatch a devious plot to get him back?



Back on the island of the Shade, everything is going wrong. Ben has begun his transformation but it’s not going well. There have been unexplained murders and everyone is pointing fingers at everyone else. No one trusts one another. And couples are suddenly arguing, accusing one another of cheating. What, or who is causing all of the chaos?



Poor Sofia and Derek have their hands full. While trying to help their son Ben with his transformation, they are rushing around the island dealing with one situation after another. At the same time, Rose is still missing and they have no idea where she is or how to find her.



As always, Bella Forrest keeps the pace moving at lightening speed as the residents of the Shade continue to battle one dark force after another. I’m going right on to book thirteen, A Turn of Tides to see what happens next.

It was better than the last one.

I really enjoyed this one. I actually like the story that was happening back at The Shade over Rose and Caleb's story. I didn't like how it was a competition to get a man's attention. That was childish to me. It was another fast paced story that I did enjoy. Each book is a very fast read. Of course there was another cliffhanger, Typical Bella style! I will continue with the series since I am 12 books in, I can't quit now!

I have to say I am so glad that Bella Forrest decided to return to The Shade last December and pick up Derek, Sofia and the twins story again and I am so glad that there’s only about a month’s wait in between these new releases! I’m in awe that after all these books she can still keep the storyline going strong and continue to surprise me in each book! To me, this latest installment really felt like old-school Shade, it really brought me back to the feel of some of the earlier books and I loved that. I’m worried for all of the issues that they are facing at The Shade but I’m looking forward to seeing the residents, led by Derek and Sofia, band together to figure it out like in the good ole days. It’s anyone’s guess where things are going to go, but one thing I do know is that I’ll be along for the ride!

I’m still in love with the Caleb/Rose storyline and I’m really nervous for them based on how things left off here. I hope that Caleb can figure out the truth before too long! Poor Rose, that girl cannot catch a break. I seriously hate Annora, more so now than when she was an evil witch, but there quite a few comical moments as her and Rose fought for Caleb’s affection. I like how every so often there’s some comic relief to all the craziness that’s happening.

I’m also worried for Mona, which I never thought I’d say seeing as I couldn’t stand her in the Shade of Kiev books, funny how your perception of a character can change over time! And I was totally surprised with Ben’s storyline, I really hope we get more on that in the next book. I have no idea how that’ll turn out! I saw Bella’s note at the end of the book where she said she thinks book 13 will be the most epic yet, so I can’t wait for May to get here so I can see what happens next! Keep the books coming!

I'm not sure how people feel this is better. The story just gets more and more convoluted. Wouldn't you think there would be some traces and clues for such a powerful witch as Mona? I get the "doubt" thing, but someone should have figured something out with so many witches on the island from the Sanctuary.
As for Caleb, come on, I don't care how "chivalrous" or "honorable" a vampire is supposed to be--after so many years of torment, and Annora's admission of guilt, there's no way he would take so much care of someone like her. Hope that wasn't considered a spoiler, but there are way too many things going on to really enjoy the story. The same thing can be said for the previous installment. Wrap it up already and quit milking it--it's ruining the entire story and dragging now.

This book was fantastic! Bella has outdone herself again. I would recommend this series to anyone that enjoys supernatural stories. I can't wait until A Shade of Vampire 13 is released. I have already pre-ordered it!

I'm definitely hooked to the series- at book 12 how could you not be? That being said, this book left me frustrated- too short and soooo many story lines left hanging! There was so much betrayal and crazy going on in such a short amount of time. The next book can't get here fast enough to see what happens next. Hoping that in the next book there's more to Ben's story and more Kiev.

4.5 Stars! Finished this a couple days ago just haven't put a review for it yet xD This series never disappoints me and my heart is very happy after I read the midpoint of the book! <3 I feel like there is nothing else to say for me to convince people to read these books after all my reviews about them this past month or so. I am at a state right now where I don't want to stop and take a break (since there are 60 books in this series) because I don't want to forget anything! I have many questions about what is to come, so I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. This might be crazy to say, but I think I am liking Rose and Caleb's story a liiiitle more than Sofia and Derek's...I love them both though! I just think I can relate more to Rose and their story is so beautiful. I will always have a special place in my heart for the originals, Sofia and Derek, but right now, Rose's story is very complex and interesting. I am going to start the next book now, bye! :)

Rose, Caleb, and Annora are stranded on an island. With annora out to get rid of Rose to have Caleb to herself. On the island of shade all he'll has broken loose. Derek and Sofia,turned Ben and sadly he can't drink animal blood plus there is a murderer on the island and everyone is blaming everyone.

😕 confused

As I have kept reading , I not sure if I am angry with myself , because , Rose was supposed to be strong , after 3 books and she's as week as the day she was born , I understand that it's being prolonged but f**k it's frustrating and I keep reading because the story is intriguing , except for Maj by the Novac clan week asf

Rose Rose Rose

I've enjoyed all the 'A Shade Of Vampire' books. But this one wore on me a little. There's just so much a human can endure. Rose is a strong female character but....dang. Hopefully in the next book she makes it home and gets to rest for a while.
