Kyler Hammond Wedding season. Ugh. Springtime was the time for happy couples to tie the knot. I wanted none of it. At least that’s what I told my roommates. That’s what I told the various lovers I’d encountered through the years. It was true, too. I hated weddings. Not because I was all man; too manly for love. It was because I was a hopeless romantic who’d never once fallen in love. I had my fair share of boyfriends throughout the years. They were great guys and I was certain they’d make someone very happy someday. Just not me. It’s not that I thought I was too good. I just never had that spark. Of course, it could have been because I dated men who were just like me. I worked out of a gym in the heart of Portland as a personal trainer. I always dated super athletic guys who were very competitive. If we weren’t constantly butting heads or competing against one another, then within a month or so, we were both bored to tears. I wanted something more but I was starting to believe I just wasn’t made for love. Jamison was the most electrifying man I’d ever met. He was different, too. His frame was much smaller than I was used, too. I was drawn to his quirky personality and startling blue eyes. He was the newest roommate in the loft. I couldn’t stop thinking about him. Too bad I couldn’t get him to talk to me.
Jamison Blanch I had to find a new place to live. I’d been staying with aunt since my boyfriend of two years broke my heart. I wasn’t good enough for him. I was too feminine, apparently. I was ready to move on with my life. I found the perfect place right next to my shop in down town Portland. It was a loft occupied by three men. They seemed like a fun group of guys. The only complication I could foresee was my very real crush on Kyler. I had met him, by chance, wedding just the other night. I needed to keep myself in check if I did move in because sleeping with a roommate was a very bad idea. It would be difficult since Kyler was spank-me-into-next-Tuesday hot. I would have never guessed in a million years that he was gay and single. This couldn’t be real. He was too hot to be within reach. Although, who was I kidding? Just because he was gay and standing right in front of me didn’t make him any closer to being within my reach.
I loved this book. I know there were a lot of complaints about the grammatical errors, but they didn’t bother me. I loved Jamison. He was adorable, eccentric, and funny. He kept me smiling. Kyler was his perfect mate. He knew from the first meeting that Jamison was the one. This is such a sweet story. I have to admit it made me laugh out loud several times. I’ve this book on my kindle for a long time. I’m sure glad I found it today.
Oh, I forgot. There was one thing that bothered me. How could they have sex without any lube. 😣
The basic idea here was quite good but the book really needed the work of a reader/editor to clear up all the typos, grammatical errors, misused words, and awkward sentence structure. Personally I would not have used as a Prologue a scene from later in the narrative. It would have made more sense to fill in some back-story there.
Jamison has just come out of a serious relationship feeling badly hurt. Kyler has never wanted a serious relationship. The story tells how they fall in love.
In lots of ways the main characters appear to be stereotypes, Jamison a bit nerdy and a bit "feminine" and owner of a retro clothes shop , Kyler a big, brawny personal trainer. However, Kyler is a great romantic and the story has some good humorous touches.
The sex is pretty explicit and a bit predictable-big brawny guys need not always be dominant, they certainly are not in real life. And I am fed up of gay weddings: not all gay men want to copy heterosexuals.
I totally loved it. I like the MC's Jamison and Kyle: the nerd and the meat head jock. However, Jamison and Kyle were so much more than the typical stereotype. The roommates, Trevor and Justin, plus Hornet were great secondary characters and added so much to this entertaining read.I liked the way Mathias Harding writes, his sentence structure, his word usage and his imagination. For example, their meeting in the bathroom at wedding of a mutual friend of both.I thought it was hilarious. Reading the story, I felt like i was right there with them. There were a few minor editing issues but did not detract to much from the story to me. The only thing I had slight quibble was the lack of discussion of being tested and the lube and condoms. Yep, my mind went there. However, I justified this as the use of an "author's artistic license". "Never Doubt" sounds like a good start of a new series. Next up, is Trevor's story. I would recommend this was wanting a sweet, entertaining read. A good job for a new author. ************************************************************** I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book for a honest and unbiased review.
I really enjoyed this book. 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars :) Despite the ridiculous number of spelling and grammatical mistakes that were in this book, I really enjoyed the story, and it was just right for my current mood.
But seriously - I would be more than happy to proof-read your book for free, and I'm sure tons of other readers would say the same thing. Might be something worth looking in to!
The story is sweet and the characters adorable. Despite my serious frustration with serious editing issues, I enjoyed the book. I would have given more stars if there weren't so many mistakes that could easily been fixed by proof reading. I'd suggest doing what a lot of authors I read do and find some beta readers if not an editor. That aside, it's a good book
Overall loved the story itself but lots of editing issues. Many cases of wrong words like gate when it should be gait, and switching a characters name mid paragraph. But....story itself was sweet and a nice read
Jamison and Kyler are wonderful together. The story line was wonderful. I see a lot of people posting things about the editing and all that crap. It is a free book, come on suck it up. Yeah it did have some typo's and what not but it was still AWESOME!
