Sweet Destiny is book five in the Klaus Brothers series by Penny Watson. I have been wanting to read this book since Christmas and just hadn’t gotten to it. Thanks to my dear friends over at Book Babblers, I won the book in a give-a-way and finally can complete this series. It was every bit worth the wait.

Santa has five sons and we have watched four of the Klaus Brothers meet the loves of their lives one by one and get married. Children are being born, and the Klaus family is growing in leaps and bounds. The only brother left who hasn’t found his one and only is Wolfgang, or Wolf. Each brother has a specific job he fulfills within the family business. Wolf’s is Director of Charitable Donations. Wolf has a huge heart but a lifetime of traveling to third world countries or seeing young children stricken with terminal illnesses has taken it’s toll. Not only does he feel alone within his family being the only single brother left, his spirit is spiraling, seeing such disparity amongst the world’s children. One specific event finally sent him over the edge and he gave up. Wolf disappeared from the North Pole’s magic radar. Wolf has lost his memory.

bearded woodsman

Belinda Kiefer is half human and half snow fairy. Except in this world, the fairies are cruel but it’s her human side that Belinda embraces. She is kind and loving but being stuck between both worlds has left her painfully shy. Left unwanted on Santa’s doorstep when she was six, Belinda learned to blend in to the background, never really joining in. But of one thing Belinda has always been certain since she was six years old. The very first time she saw then young Wolfgang playing with his brothers, she fell in love. Now twenty years later, Wolfgang needs her. He needs her to help to remember who he is, and to remember the spirit of Christmas.

snow princess

The Klaus Brothers and Belinda finally found Wolf living in a dilapidated cabin in the woods of Vermont in a little town called Cranville. He has no idea who these four men are and he isn’t the brother they remember either. This one is angry and rude, not at all the brother they grew up with. Belinda refuses to leave Wolf. She will stay with him until he regains his memory while his brothers go back home to prepare for Christmas.

“One word came to mind when she looked at this structure. One word came to mind when she looked at this man. Lonely.”

injured chickadee

The little community of Cranville slowly embraced Wolf and Belinda. Wolf softened with their kindness and Belinda felt accepted for the first time in her life. At the same time, Wolf started seeing Belinda for what she was, a wonderful, beautiful woman who made him smile, who made him want to make her smile. Who made him feel hope for the first time in a long time.

“Even without a past, Wolf was getting a clearer picture of his future. It was sprinkled with glittering snow.”

But the happiness Wolf and Belinda are beginning to find does not come without a price. Also, back at the North Pole, pressure is being put on Santa to finally choose his successor. He has been planning to retire for some time and making the right choice is not an easy task.

“So this is what it feels like to belong. To be part of a community. To have friends. Heaven. It felt like heaven.

She felt more at home in this ragged little cabin than she ever had in Glasdorf. It was Wolf. He made this a home. Somewhere she finally belonged.”

This was such a sweet book and I loved it. It is the perfect mix of love with a mix of magick and we get little glimpses into how all the other brothers are doing. I love that this Santa isn’t really like the Santa of our childhoods but a bit more modernized. I little bit sneaky as well!

So, what’s better than a little bit of Christmas in July? I can’t think of anything. If you haven’t started this series you would be better off starting at the beginning so you can meet all the brothers as they all recur in each book. Why not get started now and celebrate a little Christmas. Anytime is a good time for Christmas.

“He remembered why Christmas was special. It was a holiday of hope. Hope for the future, gratitude for the passing year and the year to come.”

No one and I really mean no one writes Christmas magik quite like Penny Watson.

Wolf Klaus is running from the ugliness of the world. The negative has outweighed the all the good he has done in the world with being the head of donations and charities. But you can only run so far until it catches up with you.

Note to self: Make sure you're not climbing a frigging mountain wall when your past catches up with you.

Looks like Wolf got his wish though he forgot everything. His family, his life, the pain and the hurt. He has turned into a curmudgeonly hermit. He moves out to a cabin in the woods and wants to be left alone that is until his brothers the brothers that he can’t remember turn up. They bring the woman that he has been chasing in his dreams with them.

Belinda is half snow fairy half human has never belonged anywhere. Full winter fairies don't have the best reputation. They're not known for being all warm and fuzzy. Since being a young girl she has felt isolated but since that time she has loved Wolf with her whole heart.

So when Wolf falls off the Glasdorf grid everyone panics. Belinda sets out to help him. They find and the red carpet isn’t rolled out. Sorry folks. But Belinda stays as she wants him to gain his memory and bring him back into the fold.

I love Belinda & Wolf together. The woman with the heart of gold, full of kindness, generousity with a refreshing innocence. Wolf the crabby bear a perfect balance. They are so sweet together that it all made sense.

Wolf finds his hope again and Belinda finally has friends and feels welcomed. But the most important thing to happen is the passing on the torch. Who will be the next Santa Klaus? See the spoiler below.

From the author that wrote Apples should be red comes the final installment of the Klaus brothers. This is the conclusion of a fantastic series. It gave me a lot of feels to work through but I even cried.

I loved every single moment of this book that I read it in one seating.

It is heartbreakingly beautiful. It brings the real reason for Christmas not the presents but the joy of doing something selfless. Of spending time with family and friends.

It is series that can be read and reread to your hearts content. I can't quite give it the whole whooping 5 because of the ending it was just too much sweet. But next year I can read them all again. Thank you Ms. Watson for such fantastic books.

A fitting end to a most enjoyable series. All of the elements of a wonderful Christmas story, perfect for holiday reading. Romance, passion, sweetness and longing. Kindness and humor. Magic. Elves and magical snowmen. Snow fairies.

Santa Klaus. Wolf finds his destiny with Belinda at his side. True love.

I really enjoyed this series. There were some ups and downs but this final installment brings it all together and it is pure magic.

This was a quick holiday read, but I had a hard time with it overall. Some of it was downright unbelievable, even for Paranormal fantasy romance! Wolf's attitude was rather unbelievable as well, even with the amnesia. Belinda was a cute heroine overall, but I didn't like her shyness. It hampered her ability to do what she wanted to do, and was more often than not used as a scapegoat for something that negatively impacts her. I did like how we got resolution on who would take over for their father, but the ending epilogue didn't really make much sense. I'd say worth reading once, but not worth keeping or recommending.

I needed this!

I’m not a huge fan of Christmas romances. I don’t even know why, I’m just not. BUT I am a big fan of Penny Watson and her Klaus series. Sweet Destiny is the finale of the series and FINALLY we get Wolfgang’s HEA.

After seeing his four brothers fall in love and settle into happily wedded bliss, Wolf feels even more isolated and lonely than ever. His job as head of Charitable Donations for Klaus Enterprises brings so many highs and lows, but lately it is the lows that are starting to get to him. Which is why he finds himself spending more and more time alone. After surviving a fall while rock climbing, Wolf wakes in the hospital with absolutely no memory of who he is or where he comes from. This new Wolf is a completely different man, he’s surly and bitter, content to live in a run down shack in the woods without any contact with the outside world. When four big, bearded, burly guys find him and insist he is their brother he doesn’t want to hear anything they have to say. Especially when they start talking about elves, magik, and Santa. These people are straight up crazy.

Belinda is half human, half winter fairy and one hundred percent alone in the world. The human and elves are scared of her, and the fairies don’t think she’s mean or vicious enough to fit in with them. Her only friends are the snow filled woods and the animals who live there. She’s had a crush on the middle Klaus brother for years, but kept it to herself. Now that he finds himself so far away from home, with no memory of who he is she is determined to stay by his side until he remembers.

Wolf and Belinda are magikal together. She brings love and hope back into his life, while he gives her a sense of belonging she’s never had before. They are the perfect way to end this series. And while I’m not usually a huge fan of Christmas romances, this year I needed a little bit of love, hope, magik, and Christmas spirit. Thank you Ms. Watson for the wonderful Christmas gift.

P.S. I’m hoping you find more stories in this world to tell. <3

Heather's Notes
So I have really liked this series, but the last book was a bit of a let down. I am not a big fan of the amnesia plot, but it wasn't to bad in this story. However, I was a little disappointed that there was no way for Belinda to get her powers back and they didn't show any retribution for the winter fairies that took it. I felt like it was obvious he would become Santa Claus (hello - it is the last book) but I did enjoy the twist where Belinda goes with him. All in all, a great series that I really liked.

Wolf is burned out from his job as head of the charitable foundation, especially after the death of a young girl from cancer. His family is all happy with all his brothers recently married. He gets in an accident and loses his memory. He doesn't want to have anything to do with people. Once his family finally finds him, he rudely asks them to leave and his brothers do, but Belinda (a half snow fairy) stays behind as she has always had a crush on Wolf.

The small Vermont town that Wolf settles into is sweet. I love how the townspeople adopt Wolf and Belinda. Poor Belinda had been so shy, she didn't have any friends previously, so seeing her come out of her shell is awesome.

As this is the end of the series, all the brothers and their wives show up and we finally find out who will be the new Santa.

I loved Wolfs story! This story was very different for the others in the series in that it tackled a more serious issue, depression. I was sad for Wolfgang that he felt so disconnected from his wonderful family and the spirit of the season. I liked that his family gave him the time and space to find himself again.

Potentially my only issue with the book was about what happened to Belinda. The choice she had to make and the degree of pain she needed to go through to make that choice felt unnecessary.

This book is not a standalone and would be better read as part of the series. A good holiday read!

The Klaus Brothers series by Penny Watson is a complete joy to read. Filled with steamy romance, generous doses of magic and touches of adventure, the series is sure to delight everyone at any time of the year, Christmas season or not. Immerse yourself in the Klaus family, you won't be sorry you did.

I had the pleasure of finding Penny Watson on Twitter. It takes a special kind of author to get me to read a holiday novel/novella. Truth is, the holidays haven’t been that joyous for me. I’m sure you’re wondering, “What the hell is she doing reading this kind of book?” Well, Penny Watson has that extra special something. For one, she has a beautiful way with words. That beautiful honesty shines so bright that even those dark corners that reside inside my book heart can’t escape that special light. It’s for that reason I picked up this book. Lately I haven’t been able to concentrate long enough to read a book or, for that matter, finish a book. That is until I decided to read this very sweet Christmas novella, and, boy, am I glad I did.

This is the final book of The Klaus Brothers series and what a spectacular ending. Wolfgang Klaus has been struggling with his job as Director of Charitable Donations. He spends his time helping and bringing comfort to the sick, the poor, and the elderly. He really hits rock bottom when a cancer patient he has been visiting dies. He is a proud man, not wanting to let his family down, but he also doesn’t want to burden anyone with his feelings. He goes to Vermont to do some rock climbing, trying to clear his head and find his center. While climbing he slips and falls and winds up hurting himself pretty badly. On top of his physical injuries, he’s suffering from amnesia. His family is worried sick about him and, worst of all, he has gone off the grid and any hope of locating him seems bleak.

Belinda Kiefer has been in love with Wolf since she first set eyes on him when she was six years old. Wolf’s father, Santa Klaus, took her in when no one wanted her. She is half human and half-fairy. She has never truly belonged in either of her worlds. The humans are afraid of her because her fairy side is evil and they hate humans. Her Fairy side hates her because she is half human. So Lin lives on the fringes, always watching the Klaus family from a distance. She feels safest in the woods with the animals and the snow. When news travels to the North Pole about Wolf’s disappearance, she will not be left behind.

Sweet Destiny indeed!

Wolfgang's story is by far my favorite of the Klaus line. I love them all but I really enjoyed the story of Belinda and Wolf. Penny Watson created a wonderful series and I just adore all of the books in this series!!! I'm excited to see what other books are written and perhaps if there will be a sequel series or even a spin off of the Klaus Brothers and their families.

I LOVED this story just as much as the other Klaus Brothers stories. To be honest I LOVED it more. I did not want it to end,but of course it did and will be reading them all over again before the holidays.
What an amazing story teller Ms. Watson is. I am hoping that there will be more to come from this beautiful family.

The final Klaus brother gets his HEA. This was probably my favorite of the series. Ice fairy Belinda was so sweet, it was wonderful to see her get the love she'd dreamt of and the friends too. There were some bittersweet moments, finding the joyful memories amidst loss and loneliness.

And for the series ... a nice reunion with past pairs and a passing of Santa's torch.

Very satisfying end to this funny, romantic, and original series from Penny Watson. I love that she saved Wolfgang for the last book. The scenes describing Brenda as a frost fairy were magical. I enjoyed watching Wolf & Belinda's love story develop in the snowy, remote cabin. Very cozy and romantic.

Great book to read during the cold winter months. Penny is an auto-buy author for me.
