Kelli Jean

Born and raised in Miami, Kelli Jean traded the tropical heat for the arctic. Now she deals with twenty-four hour daylight in the summer, zero sunlight in the winter, and believes the Northern Lights make up for the mind-boggling amount of ice and snow she has to put up with for seven months out of the year. She’s surrounded by mountains and ocean and sheep, and claims her bizarre sense of humor is what keeps her sane.
The insane don’t know they’re insane.
Kelli uses her imagination to create worlds she can escape to from the mundane tasks of everyday life, such as washing the damn dishes and vacuuming up Legos off the floor—and don’t get her started on the mad amount of cat hair on the end of the couch. She gave up on that a long time ago. When the household goes to sleep at night, she writes down everything that happened in her head while doing such tedious chores. But she enjoys living in her own head, so that’s pretty cool.

"You are my wondering heart's home....

Kelli Jean , again, sucked me into a world that held me captive from the beginning of Ten Thousand Truths until the end… a world where friends are family, family is everything, and love for both is interrupting…
First… you really need to read the first two books in this series or you’ll be a bit lost on the connections of all the characters. But even more than that… you’ll miss learning the background of them all and how the love and family type of unit was built… I loved the first two books in this series , and TTT was no exception. Let me tell you what you will get when you fall into Kelli Jean’s world. You will not get the typical cookie cutter love story with a little angst thrown in. You also won’t get the typical romantic suspense with some steam and drama thrown in. No… what you will get when you open one of her stories is so much more.

In Ten Thousand Truths, that “so much more” is Opie and Deo… Their love was the type of love that could only develop when two souls have experienced so much unfairness and tragedy that once they were given a taste of what true happiness could be, they didn’t want to let it go. But at the same time.. both were scared.

A horrible tragedy in Opie’s past made her feel unlovable and longing for a connection.. a connection of family. You see, her's is no longer there. And the possibility that the nightmare may have followed her into her new life has her second guessing herself and this new life. But with a circle of friends and the potential of a love that has always felt out of grasp.. she doesn't want to give up.

But Deo... Deo wants to be the man that can erase her nightmares. But he's lived a hard and secretive life and is unsure if he can be the one to do it. Deo's done things in the past and he still has a connection to it. He's also been burned by love and feels he may be unworthy of it. Is he ready to put himself out there and risk being hurt again?

But Deo and Opie together were magic! The chemistry, their bond... and their shared connection with Xanthe from Ten Thousand Words made reading their story of second chances completely consuming... I loved them together.

But as I said in the beginning of this review.... this is not your typical love story by any means. There is also plenty of suspense; but there is also unimaginable horror. Horror in the aspect of what one human being can do to another. An incomprehensible horror that Opie has in her past along with and unspeakable horror that Deo faces in their present turns this story into so much more. Opie is going to need all the strength she has built from surviving what she did in order be what Deo needs.... if he doesn't push her away .

Each book in this series has been such a page turner for me because they are so different from you normally get when you read a romance or rom suspense.. or even a contemporary suspense thriller... Kelli Jean honestly has something for everyone. Have I mentioned steam yet? Because wowza! Kelli knows how to turn up the heat to scorching levels...

One of his arms released me to reach up and cradle my head, to pull me back, so he could once more lay claim to my mouth. With a groan, his tongue invaded my mouth, vibrating down my throat, sternum, belly, to pool around where are bodies joined. The seductive caress of his mouth was soon mimicked by the sultry pull and pump of his cock..."

See what I mean!! Damn..

So if you've not read this series yet, I implore you to check it out. Don't sit around wondering what book on your TBR list will be next.. bump this series to the top, dig in, and enjoy one hell of a ride.

5 Stars for the Wandering Heart

With Ten Thousand Truths, I am back into Kelli Jean’s macabre world of love, lust, family, and justice. Now, the long awaited story of Deo Dahl.

Always a large presence, but still so unknown, Deo has found a bit of happiness as we have come to know him as Xanthe’s distraction and best friend. While he loved hard he never quiet was in love and struggled with feeling as if he was enough. Perhaps a second chance meeting of another broken soul could drive his purpose.

 photo 24d12acf-c634-4f09-bb32-83cf0663a22c_zps9udx89nu.jpg

Odessa “Opie” Powys has lived and died. She exists in a realm of protection and lies. Haunted by the nightmares of her horrific past she yearns to be seen and touched…to be desired…to be alive.
Two souls fragmented find a connection and begin to put the pieces of their minds and hearts back together. Deo’s strong physical presence keeps Opie in the light and her truth and pure adoration of Deo makes him once again believe that he could be worthy.

Ten Thousand Truths, book 3 in the series, is the harshest to date but I believe it is this author’s most amazing work yet. Kelli Jean has no fear when it comes to putting her characters at the forefront of danger and tragedy. She gives the harshest of challenges and then creates the strongest of relationships thru their journeys. Deo and Opie’s time together is palpably emotional. There is so much pure lust and the connection of their souls is so beautiful that it make a reader stop…take a breath. Just when life is to be truly lived…the past has a way of coming back and this time, Deo could be the one lost to the darkness.

 photo 70255833-8b80-47f5-bbe2-2f7bd0a6ed60_zpscsnsgxjx.jpg

As a reader I admit that Kelli Jean devastated me. I was crushed and I was so angry. I could not grasp the darkness that engulfed this couple. The writing was so raw and gritty and the story devastatingly tragic yet appreciated. At the end of the tale, this is an author that brings the concepts of survival and healing to an all new level. Here a reader can feel pain only so that the pleasure of another day can truly be appreciated.

I fuckin LOVE Kelli Jean's books!

Let me start this review off by ADAMANTLY encouraging you to read Ten Thousand Words (book 1) and Ten Thousand Lies (Book 2). While you don't HAVE to... you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you skipped them. Now, that being said, let the review begin.

If you've read Kelli Jean's work before you know that she's got her own unique voice. Her characters are original, endearing and down right BADASS. (A Lot like she is.) I have to say... and this is hard because I LOVE the NOLAs Own Series and all of the other books in this series but I think Ten Thousand Truths is my most favorite Kelli Jean book to date. And I do not say that lightly because PHIL FUCKIN DEVERAUX!!

This books is just... it's just... everything.

While reading you experience an entire spectrum of emotion. I'd be laughing one minute and crying the next. (No joke!) Kelli instantly pulls you into this world and you're lost to it from the very gripping beginning until the beautiful and emotional end.

This is not just a sexy, steamy romance. It's not just a suspense novel with crazy twists and turns. It's a journey of heartbreak and torture, self-awareness and courage, love and acceptance. It will leave you amazed and filled with pride for Opie and Deo. They're THE STRONGEST hero and heroine Kelli Jean has ever written and I fell madly in love with them both.

This book is MOST DEFINITELY a 5-star read. You'd be cheating yourself if you didn't give it a read.
You killed it, Bro Dawg. Fuckin KILLED IT!

Some of my fav quotes:
"You could tell me the truth ten thousand times and destroy all of it with one fucking lie."
***
"You told me you don't even notice the tattoos on my face when you look at me. You know they're there, but you see past them. Why would you think it would be any different for me when I see your scars?"
"Because I see them and can't look past them."
"Then I'll just have to teach you how."
***
I wanted so badly to believe I would rise from the ashes of my old life and blaze into this new one with a vengeance.
***
A universe of love exploded behind my breastplate and eyes, dazzling me in a warm golden glow the color of his skin.

And in case you need a little more reason to read it...

Wow, Kelli Jean has outdone herself with this story. I am blown away! In my opinion, this is her best writing yet. Even though Ten Thousand Truths is the third book in this series, it is set apart. This story has a thrilling element of suspense that kept me guessing and in an almost constant state of anticipation. The way this book was written was a true pleasure to experience. Reading the dream sequences and how they changed was captivating and gave me such fascinating satisfaction. I really can’t say enough about how this book was written, the storyline, the backstories, how things unfolded… getting to read and understand why characters had become the way they were, was riveting. Ten Thousand Truths isn’t easy reading. It is dark and deals with disturbing acts, but this author wrote about these horrendous subjects in a way that was hopeful and empowering. The resilience these characters have is inspiring for readers who have faced their own darkness. I was drawn into this story, felt a part of these complex characters. I felt their pain and fear, experienced their struggle and growth. I had heart pangs and gasping moments. Through it all, I felt their love and strength. I was so excited that my favorite characters from previous books in this series had a part in this story. The ending had my jaw dropping and caused great eagerness for the next book to come! I highly, so very highly, recommend this spellbinding book!

Despite not having read a Kelli Jean book before, let alone the prior two books in this series, when I read the blurb for this book I was super intrigued. I wanted to know all about this mysterious hero, Deo and what kind of tragedy the heroine, Opie had undergone in her past.

From the very first page the book opens straightaway to a traumatic incident in the heroine's life. We see and feel her pain as it happens and immediately I was gripped by the story. From there we are given brief glimpses into the heroine's life until we are shifted eleven years later into the future.

One thing I really liked was that despite experiencing the horrific events she did, the love and self-confidence Deo showed and helped instill in her was amazing. It was absolutely incredible to witness Opie's transformation from fearful and insecure to loved and confident.

I also loved that in this book, the author created a hero who was "real". He had his own insecurities and flaws he needed to work through and wasn't the typical and cocky alpha prevalent in so many books today. He had heart. This was such a heartwarming and notable distinction!

While this was the third book in the series, it was a standalone and at no point did I feel lost in the story. I look forward to reading more novels from this author in the future! ~ Ratula, 3.5 "Your Amadeo" stars!!

Ten Thousand Truths is the third book in ‘the Ten Thousand series’ by Kelli Jean. Like the previous books in the series it has a dark side, exactly what the author warned for in the first book. In the previous books we’ve met Opie and Deo, and Ten Thousand Truths tells their beautiful and heartbreaking story.
“Opie?” “Yes, Deo?” “Are you seeing someone?” She shook her head and smiled again, and something inside me relaxed. “No. Are you?” “No.” “See you then,” she said.”

Opie is an accomplished woman, she owns a successful shop where she sells perfumes and soaps she makes herself and has a PhD in botany. She doesn’t have many friends, and although she wants more out of life, she just can’t. Years ago a madman destroyed all Opie held dear; her family destroyed and she barely survived herself. The act of horror has left Opie with deep scars, inside and outside. Opie doesnt think it’s possible to be intimate with a man, but Deo makes her want more. She has known him for twelve years, and for him Opie is willing to try.
“Will he try to hold my hand? I wonder what his hand might feel like. Will he try to kiss me at the end of the night? I’d fantasized about those soft-looking lips for years.”

Deo is the owner of a barbershop and works with his friends for ‘the Locals’. Being shaped by events during his own childhood, Deo is now helping other people to overcome assault and abuse. Being a big, handsome man, Deo is popular with the ladies, but he doesn’t do serious. He’s still coming to terms with the ‘sudden’ engagement of his former girlfriend Xanthe (the heroine from Ten Thousand Words). Not that he’s still in love with her, but he just wants to know why they didn’t work. All thoughts about Xanthe move to the background when Deo meets mysterious Opie, the lady who makes the creams for his barbershop and friend of Xanthe.
“She stood there, right bloody behind me, her huge eyes looking up into my face. My jaw dropped. Her eyes were fucking violet. “It’s you,” I said stupidly. Her plump lips mashed flat, and I got the impression that she was trying not to laugh.”

When Deo meets Opie during an evening out he’s immediately interested in her. Seeing her again in her shop seals the deal, he has to get to know her. Opie tries to keep Deo at a distance. Thinking of herself as damaged goods and her experience with men Opie doesn’t believe Deo can be with her. She’s also knows he’s her friend’s ex-lover, and she feels Deo isn’t over her just yet. But slowly Deo breaks away Opie’s walls, and together they have sweet and very sexy moments. I love how Deo is with Opie – gentle and caring – and how Opie opens up to Deo. Their HEA is a hard-fought, very deserved one, I love it.

The romance between Opie and Deo is easy to read about, Deo helps Opie to overcome her believes about her own body, and slowly they start to love each other. Throughout the story the darker side of Deo’s work for the Locals is being told; it’s not easy to read, but it’s a part of the story. Just when you think Opie and Deo have had the worst, the author delivers a horrific blow. Gone is the happiness the couple almost had and all what’s left is a world of hurt and despair. My heart broke for both Deo and Opie; they so didn’t deserve what is done to them. And although it’s painful to read, I appreciate the realness of the aftermath.
“Does this still feel like your home, Witch?” His voice was the deepest, warmest caress to my soul. “Because no one lives here but you.” I swallowed and closed my eyes, feeling the strong, steady beats against my palm, sensing that light once more seeping into my blood. “Yes.”

I love Ten Thousand Truths; this book will stay with me for a long time. I give the story of Opie and Deo 5+ stars.

5 stars

So that just happened!
Three times a charm and after rating the first two in this series 4 and 4,5 stars this one jumped in at 5 freaking golden stars.

Amadeo Dahl and Odessa Powy meet through fellow acquaintances and while one of them feels that insta lust, the other definitely doesn't.
This is a very emotional story with many, many, many graphic details that (IMO) made this book exceptional. It's harsh and brutal but the story is still beautiful and in the end, it's totally worth every step of the way to get there.

Bonus info: This character is SO Jason Momoa! *SWOOON* I just wanted to gobble him up.
If you haven't read the first two in this series I'd suggest you do so now before Ten Thousand Truths releases on October 18. But if you want to go straight for the godlike one (DEO) then my opinion is that you can totally read this as a standalone.
Enjoy!

Intense! That is the first word I can think of to describe this book. From the very first page this book is loaded with it! I love this story for so many reasons. It was unpredictable and completely amazing. There were so many different elements to it...love, hate, depravity, pain, finding ones self. It opened the door to the darkest side of humanity, but also showed the lightest side. I don't want to spoil anything because this book is best read going in completely blind, but I can say that it will break your heart, make you smile and give you butterflies all at once. A total 5 star read!

***ARC received from the author in exchange for an honest review***

I honestly am not sure that I can do this book the justice it so rightfully deserves but I'm going to try my best. Ten Thousand Truths is the third book in Kelli Jean's Ten Thousand series. It does follow characters from the first two books and references many things that have happened in them so I definitely recommend reading Ten Thousand Words and Ten Thousand Lies prior to reading Ten Thousand Truths in order to fully understand the story line progression and the backstories of the characters. However, with that being said, it could certainly be read as a standalone but you would be sorely missing out on 2 amazing stories if you don't read Ten Thousand Words and Ten Thousand Lies first.

Let me first start by saying that this book gutted me and had me ugly crying during many parts. The story is a dark one---the situations that are presented, both those that happened in the past and those that occur later in the book are disturbing and traumatic. This may be a trigger for some but since I do not want to reveal any spoilers, I won't say what they are. Just know that there are some doozies in this book! Kelli Jean approaches them in such a sensitive way that the reader will feel empowered and hopeful after everything is revealed. But these particular situations are extremely detailed and will definitely rip your heart out but do not let that deter you because it is not all darkness...it is also very funny and supremely sexy. Your emotions will be all over the place throughout the book and that's what makes it so great! There is an element of suspense and danger as well and Kelli Jean throws some serious curve balls that will truly shock the reader and she couldn't have done it any more perfectly!

In my opinion, this book is one of the author's best and that's saying A LOT because all of her books have been 5 star favorites for me (hello, she wrote NOLA's OWN which is my all-time favorite series!!!). There is so much to love about this book---the intense chemistry of the main characters, the bonds of friendship and family between every character in the book, the incredible sense of loyalty of each to those they love, the strong desire to right all wrongs and the beauty of finding the one person to complete you and heal you from the inside out. All of Kelli Jean's books are extremely sexy and TTT is no exception. The love scenes will set you on fire! Deo is delicious--picture the stunningly sexy Jason Momoa ---and the fact that he has no problem showing his tender side toward his woman and can look beyond the surface to find the true beauty underneath makes him an immediate addition to my ultimate book boyfriend list. He and Opie are sheer perfection together. The beauty that shines from these two is evident throughout the book and it is clear that they are destined for one another. Opie is a strong woman who has faced evil and hardships that most would never survive. Watching her blossom and become who she is destined to be was an experience in and of itself. It left me feeling inspired, completely hopeful and content. She is pretty much one of the strongest heroines I have ever read and her transformation is breathtaking.

It's truly hard to write a comprehensive review for a book like this due to the fact that there are far too many potential spoilers that could be given away. Let's just say that this is a book you do NOT want to miss. It will tug at every single one of your heart strings, make you feel so many different emotions (happy, sad, angry) make you weep (or ugly cry as it did for me), shatter your heart into a million pieces and then put it back together again piece by piece, ultimately healing you with hope and happiness. It was truly an emotional ride and one that I am so glad that I took! Ten Thousand Truths does not deserve only 5 stars....it deserves way more because it is absolutely perfect! But since I'm only limited to 5-stars, let's call this one a 5+++ star read. One final note---there is a cliffhanger at the end but not having to do with Deo and Opie's story. It is a cliffhanger that sets the stage for the next book in the series about 2 other characters. I, for one, cannot wait to see what Kelli Jean dreams up next.

I won an arc from the author because she's great toward her fans. I've read all of the books in this series and each one was amazing and continue to be more amazing with each book. However, Deo and Opie's story was so good that I never expected the twists and turns that these characters would endure. the growth of these characters throughout the story was absolutely fabulous. I can't wait to see where these characters go with each new story Kelli writes.

It’s not lie, I’ve been in love with this series since the beginning, but I have to to say that this book is my favorite to date!! Deo and Opie’s story is emotional but so beautiful and well told! Both of these two have dark pasts, but somehow together there’s so much light. Kelli Jean knows how to write one emotional book with tons of heart and heat!!

Some parts were good, some parts were okay. In the end, I don't think this couple should be together. The hero's ex-gf (the heroine's ex-college roommate) is mentioned majority of the time in the book. A lot of pining.

The heroine meets the hero while her college roommate is dating him. He does not remember the heroine since she was sick with the flu when he first met her. The heroine was attracted to him from the moment she saw him. Fast forward 11 years, the college roommate marries someone else and the hero pines for the ex-gf. Then he sees the heroine, does not remember her, but feels an attraction to her.

The heroine is severely scarred and in witness protection because her parents were murdered and they were secret agents.

There is suspense. Who killed the the heroine's family, but only scarred her.

Trigger warning.

In the end, I don't believe in the hero and heroine should be together. Also, I think he will always have a "thing" for the ex. Anytime he wanted to move forward with the heroine, he always questioned the love he had for the ex-girlfriend. GET OVER IT!!! My opinion.
The groveling was weak.

Oh my goodness, what a story. I started this book and just sat and sat and sat, reading. I could not put it down. The things that Opie went through... Just wow. Then she meets Deo, Xanthe's ex.
Things start to look up, and Opie and Deo are happy and planning a future until Opie's past comes back to haunt her in a way she could never have imagined.
Wow... Such a great story with a bit of dark to it, love, angst, conflict, and a HEA. Just loved it.

6+++ 'MY AMADEO' STARS!

My brain is a scattered mess of mush at the moment and I don't know how I'm even forming words adequately right now to write this review.

Ten Thousand Truths is the third installment in the Ten Thousand series, and Kelli Jean's best work yet! This book will have you on the edge of your seat, glued to the spot, not wanting to put it down for one bloody moment!

Each of her books are unique and special, but I have to say this one is my favorite thus far and it was all due to Deo Dhal ♡

"It was happening again. That feeling, that unmistakable high, warmth and goodness and... light. It felt as though the light that shimmered just below her pale skin was seeping into me, glittering and bright, causing this intense glow within my chest. It radiated everywhere, filing me up searing each nerve ending within me."

Amadeo 'Deo' Dahl is a behemoth of man in all the right places ;). He's rugged, beautiful, intense, and has a dark past. A past that haunts him. Opie will be a light that cleanses Deo's soul. You'll see him go through hell and come back in this book. It was those moments that left me utterly devastated. I even messaged Kelli to yell at her lol.

Odessa 'Opie' Powys is a warrior. A beautiful soul with raven hair and violet eyes. Her past is heartbreaking to read about. She's haunted by her nightmares and her scars are reminders of the hell she had to live through. She's had a crush on Deo since thirteen years ago and when she gets the chance to be with him, she gives him everything of her. He's her heart's wandering home, as Kelli puts it. Her other half. And that alone couldn't be more truer.

"Deo is everything," "He's my journey. My wandering heart's home. Wherever he is, that's where I'll be."

Together Opie and Deo must face intense moments and face the darkest parts of each other. It was pure magic, but it's not the typical love story you're use to reading about. The storyline is definitely darker than the other books. It had the elements for a perfect storm. It's raw. Gritty. Intense. Wrenching brokenness. But it's beautiful and real and so consuming.

Kelli has once again knocked me on my ass and left me breathless. This woman has a brilliant mind and if you haven't read any of her books yet, I don't know what you're waiting for. Jump in now! You won't be disappointed.

OH. MY. GOSH. I loved this book. Kelli is new to me as an author and I was blown away by this book. I hadn't even read the other two books in this series when I read the blurb for this one and knew I had to read it. Best decision ever. Ten Thousand Truths has so many layers to it. It's somewhat dark.... There could be triggers for certain readers. It's not pretty, it's messy and disturbing on so many levels and the suspense and thrilling moments will make your heart race. The feelings between Deo and Opie only intensify all the emotions running through this book!

"A guiding light brings two lost souls together , so they can face their demons with courage and know they’re not alone."

Opie goes through something so painful and unimaginable and loses her whole family. With the person who did this unknown and still on the loose, she's left with so many insecurities and doubts about herself afterwards that every day is a challenge.

Deo faces some monsters of his own. Dealing with his past and coping with other teens/adults in a program he runs to help those who were once abused. What Deo went through is a huge part of this book. Being with Opie, he's forced to revisit something that once turned his life upside down that just might bring Opie the justice she's looking for.

"You told me you don’t even notice the tattoos on my face when you look at me. You know they’re there, but you see past them. Why would you think it would be any different for me when I see your scars?”

I loved these two characters together. The more I read the more I couldn't stop thinking about them when I wasn't reading. The love that they have for each other runs so deep and pure. Knowing what the other went through and all the problems they have with themselves and they still stick by, ready to fight, no questions asked.

When things take a turn and get really bad for Deo, their relationship is tested. Opie may get the justice they've been searching for but at what price?

My rating: 5/5 stars

I review the same way that I like to enter a book. I want to know if it is a happy book, an angsty book, a light book or a heavy book but I don't want to know any plot details.

Ten Thousand Truths is the 3rd book in the series. Technically I think you could almost read without the first 2 because each book focuses on a new couple, but I really think that because of shared characters and back stories, you need to start with Ten Thousand Words. Although this was my favorite in the series, really they are ALL 5 star reads.

When I set out to read a book, I typically finish in one sitting. I don't like to carry on and I have to know what happens. With TTT, it took me 4 days to read it. 4 days to process and come to terms with what was happening and recover from the emotion. And not just the angst, the joy and love as well. Opie and Deo's story is not common and it's not a love that I have read before. It was shocking and overwhelming.

Of course it's a Kelli Jean book, so there's the humor and sarcasm and lightness that Kelli is so amazing at mixing with all the dark and deep and all encompassing. I laughed out loud every time Deo mentioned the fat German kid living inside of him. I think we can all relate to that but it was more humorous coming from a gigantic caveman. Opie is one of my favorite heroin's of all time. Her inner strength and self preservation inspired me and made me appreciate how I have overcome my own scars.

I'm warning you now that you will FEEL and you will HURT and you will CRY but you will also walk away feeling strong and feeling connected and introspective.

Here are my 2 favorite quotes:

"You could tell me the truth ten thousand times and destroy all of it with one fucking lie"

"To some, I was hideous. To me, now... I was a goddamn survivor. And that in itself was a beautiful thing"

Ten Thousand Truths brings me back to Kelli Jean’s world that I love and so many emotions flavor this story and in this book, it’s the awaited story of Deo Dahl.

Deo has long been this enigma that has been there. Always there, always large and quiet, I have wondered who he is. I mean, I know he is Xanthe’s best friend but he is he really? Its like he is this broken soul in search of peace. Then we meet his half-“ Opie” and there is the ahh moment. Opie has this terrible tragedy in her past which left her feeling very unlovable and unwanted. She seeks that connection, that feeling she is wanted, that feeling of family.
This is a very deep and emotional story that will take you places and I have to say, its graphic at times. The MC met thru friends and one of them immediately felt the lust while the other one just felt friendship. The story goes on a roller coaster of a ride and it is at times so gritty yet Deo and Opie are perfection together. Its not all sunshine and roses but they are sheer perfection together. I do not want to say too much and give the story away but just know their love is one for the books. Also at the end of this book, it ends on one heck of a cliffhanger. Its not about the MC in this book but sets it up for the upcoming character in the next book. WOW..What a way to go. Ms. Jean definitely knows how to make fascinating stories into perfection. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

My rating: 4.7 stars *****

This book will make you cry. It will gut you like no other. I can't even describe the emotions after reading Kelli Jean's heartfelt novel. I have to get myself together before I write my review. Totally horrified, obliterated and inspired after turning the last page. My God! What did I just read???

Full review to be written soon....

Here, in his arms, with his heartbeat, he was simply my Amadeo, and I was just… his. Not the broken, wandering soul trying to find her place in the world.

Wow! What an incredible book this was! I’ve been looking forward to reading about Deo bloody Dahl since we first met him in Ten Thousand Words last year and let me tell you, his and Opie’s story surpassed any expectation that I had going into it! You can read this book as a standalone, for sure, but do yourself a favor and start with Ten Thousand Words and Ten Thousand Lies first. They are both fantastic books and they’ll give you a great introduction to this world and to these characters, plus you get to meet Oliver Fairfax who is still one of my all-time favorite book boyfriends. Back to this book, though, as good as the first two books were, I think that this book took the series to the next level. It’s certainly not for the faint of heart, it’s much darker than the first two and the horrors these characters endured and have to endure are told in graphic detail but all of that darkness is beautifully balanced by a brilliant love story and a message of surviving, strength and healing. And at the end of the day, those are the parts that truly shine!

“I’m falling head over heels for you. I think about you all the fucking time.”
She was quiet for a moment. Then, she said, “About bloody time that whack with the broom took effect. I’ve only been waiting for twelve years.”

Amadeo “Deo” Dahl and Odessa “Opie” Powys are both fighting to overcome unthinkable darkness from their pasts. They’ve been doing an okay job of it on their own but when they start spending time together, it’s like their fractured souls recognize a kindred spirit and they soon develop a pretty special bond. The love and acceptance they find in one another helps balance the darkness that has stained their souls and together they truly begin to heal. But when Opie’s past comes roaring back, Deo finds himself on the brink of a darkness so consuming that he isn’t sure if Opie’s love will even be enough to pull him back.

“We need to come to an understanding, Odessa.”
“And that would be?”
“That there’s only truth between us. When you hesitate to tell me shit, it makes me think you’re trying to come up with a lie. You could tell me the truth ten thousand times and destroy all of it with one fucking lie.” I sat forward, getting in her face. “I want to build something with you. If I can’t trust you, it will destroy our foundation.”

The story is so much more complex that my little synopsis, but it’s impossible to explain the layered complexities without spoiling something or without rambling on and on! Like I said earlier, Kelli Jean took everything that we’ve loved about the first two books and kicked it up a notch in this one. It’s definitely not a light and easy read, in fact some parts were outright difficult to read and could be overwhelming for some. I will admit, there’s a certain moment where I had to step away for a moment and take a deep breath before I could continue. It was horrifying and painful and made my heart ache for everyone involved. But I truly hope that all of this doesn’t scare you off from this story because all of the hardships are worth the reward you get by experiencing Deo and Opie’s beautiful love.

I don’t think anyone will ever top Oliver Fairfax’s love and devotion when it comes to Xanthe, but Deo comes darn close and in his own way, I think that his love for Opie was just as special as the love Oliver has for Xanthe. Deo was always this big, looming presence in the first two books but he was largely a mystery so it was great getting to know him in this one and also heartbreaking to learn of the darkness he’s fought to overcome. Opie has overcome a horrific tragedy and has been living with the reminders of that day ever since. I admired her strength and was in awe of how far she’d come. What happened to her would cripple most people but she’s a fighter through and through and I loved being a witness to her journey.

I loved everything about this book, even when it wasn’t easy, Kelli Jean has outdone herself with this one! I can’t wait to read more in this series, I’ve really come to love this group of characters (which by the way, we get some really great updates on Oliver/Xanthe and Ricki/Jaime, fans of the series will be sure to love them) and judging by the bombshell at the end of the epilogue in this book, I can imagine we’re in for quite a ride!

“Does this still feel like your home, Witch?” His voice was the deepest, warmest caress to my soul. “Because no one lives here but you.”

Fantastic

The author weaves a beautiful and dark tapestry in this story. The Prologue alone is a work of art. I plan to read the story many times over the years.

I am not sure I can accurately put down in words how amazing this story is. Opie has been living a shadow of a life. Living through the past and unable to move on. Deo is someone Opie has known for years but never spent any time with him. When the actually meet and spend time together, is a story you must read. This story of two people trying to tackle the ghosts of a past and trying to live a happy life was so full of emotion and a story line so well done I could not put it down. Be prepared it is one you will remember. Great series. Cannot wait for the next one.

”Deo is everything.. He’s my journey. My wandering heart’s home. Wherever he is, that’s where I’ll be.”
Ten Thousand Truths is the 3rd book in the Ten Thousand series. While it can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading Ten Thousand Words and Ten Thousand Truths prior to this...they do not disappoint.
Again she sucked me right into this wonderful family joined together by love not by blood.

This is by far my favorite read from Kelli Jean! I fell head over heels in love with Deo (don't tell Phil!).
Word cannot describe who I felt while reading Deo and Opie's story. Together they are pure magic. It took me days to recover...I MEAN DAYS! I threw my reader across the room and cursed Kelli to hell and back! But then I loved her again.
Opie has a tragic past. Can she overcome her fears and open her heart to Deo? Can she put all her trust in this man who can break her heart?
Deo has a past. Deo has a life that not everyone can understand. Can he trust Opie with his secrets? Can he find it in himself to actually be worthy of the love she has to offer?
Just when you think they can see past each other's scars on the inside and the out Kelli rips you dam your heart out! You will UGLY cry! And if you don't, shame on you! (OK..I really have tears in my eyes just thinking about it!!!)
It took time but Deo and Opie survive. It will take them breaking but coming out stronger after. Because in the end Deo needs his Witch.
Because Deo is Opie's home.

Now one-click this book ASAP!!!!

3.5* read.

This is the first book I've read by this author and although this book is part of a series it can be read as a standalone which is what I did and I didn't feel confused or lost at any point in the story.

There is a dark side to this book and so much emotion from the very first chapter that you go on a complete emotional rollercoaster throughout this book.

This is a really difficult book to read in places and will have you crying along, its also a beautiful read with some added steam in places.

Ever since I read book one in Kelli Jean’s “Ten Thousand Series” I’ve been a huge fan. Having starting this by chance and recommendation, I didn’t expect to love it this much. But with Ten Thousand Truths Kelli Jean has written herself into my Top Reads of 2016. I can’t not love a book I stayed up until 3am to finish because I just could not put it down.

Opie has been through some horrific circumstances in her life. Yet, instead of letting her past cripple her, she rises above her past and becomes stronger for it, ultimately. Unfortunately, she doesn’t recognize her inner strength and beauty for a long time. Thinking herself too broken, she hides away behind her plants. Until Deo Dahl comes back into her life.

We’ve all met Deo before as Xanthe’s ex-boyfriend. Yet, I’m happy to say that he’s so much more to me now than that. Deo, just like Opie, has gone through some fucked up shit in his life, and he’s also done some shit himself. Yet, after everything he went through, and while it might have broken him—the demons never leaving—his love for Opie gave him strength to pull through.

I loved Deo and Opie, individually and as a couple. They both are strong and stubborn, but together they are indestructible. They might be bruised and dented, but never to be broken beyond repair. With complexity and depth to her characters, Kelli Jean gave us a story which proves to us that sometimes love is strong enough to heal you and keep you from the abyss. While being true and honest to her characters, she also takes great care with the subject matter. The book, as well as the whole series, is filled with characters who are real and relatable.

The storyline—intriguing, shocking, and unpredictable—is filled with beautiful characters and words who will make you cry, laugh, and rejoice. The spectacular writing in this story made me enjoy it even more. The words—sometimes beautiful in their simplicity—draw you into the story, holding you hostage.

Ten Thousand Truths is a story of love strong enough to overcome the most horrific circumstances, of healing, and of accepting one’s past. This is probably my favorite of the series, until the next one is being released. I can’t recommend Kelli Jean and her books enough. Top Reads for me all around.

I have known since I first picked up one of her books that Kelli Jean was a literary goddess but I swear she just keeps getting better and better with each word she writes. She absolutely destroyed me with Ten Thousand Words. I was her captive from the very first page. The amount of emotion packed into those pages is astounding. I ran the gamut of them. Normally I shy away from books that touch on these kinds of topics because I have triggers but I was able to read this without problems because she gave me heroes to grasp onto.

And what a hero she gave. Deo Dahl, a giant of a man. Tattooed and bearded—and we all know how I feel about that. He’s loud and crass but he’s got the hugest heart. This man right here is going to be your next book boyfriend, you won’t need any other. I promise you that. I never thought anyone would top Phil Deveraux in my heart but Deo Dahl just did. Then there’s Opie, oh my Opie. My heart just breaks for her. If you’ve read the other books, you get hints that there’s something gut-wrenching there. I wasn’t expecting that. But she’s a survivor. She’s slightly quirky, a little bit sassy and a whole lot of vulnerable. Seeing her blossom is beautiful, hopeful.

I needed a ton of tissue, chocolate and whiskey to get through this book. Ten Thousand Truths isn’t a sweet soft romance, there’s nothing trope about it. There’s suspense, action, and holy sh*t is there steam. But it’s so much more. This is probably one of the most difficult books I’ve had to read this year but also one of the most beautiful. It’s about healing, about strength, about survival. It’s about giving a voice to the voiceless. It’s a damn masterpiece. It grabs hold of you and won’t let you go until you turn the last page. And even then it’ll stick with you.

I was really getting into this and was on the edge of my seat wondering who was responsible for all of the pain that Opie had endured. When they finally got a clue as to who and why they were behind it Deo goes off to bring his brand of justice.
Here is where you lost me. Deo was trained for this. He knew how to be stealth and sneak up on his prey, and yet when he was the prey he didn't have a clue that he was the one being stalked. He paid for his oblivion with hours of being raped by the one he was hunting to kill.
Then when Opie is the one to deliver the justice it was to fast and over with. Why do authors not go into depth of doling out justice? Why do the victims suffer for hours and then the predators get a fast ending.
Maybe I'm just blood thirsty for justice.
All in all a good read just wished for different outcome.

This is the third book in this series. It is my favorite one of them all. The horrors Odessa lived through are unbelievable but she persevered through them all.
Deo also has a past that still affects him in his everyday life. He is also part of a secret group for justice.
This book is an emotional mess. You will laugh, cry, and just feel for them. It is also loaded with suspense. It takes a lot to process what is going on.

If you are going to read this book start at the first book in the series. You will appreciate it more.
