I had a bit of  relationship with Mine for the Week, one that’s made it a bit hard to review. Erika Kelly has written some of my favorite books (read the Rock Star Romance series if you haven’t, it’s so much fun!) and she once again has written a couple that has unmistakable chemistry. There’s some great push and pull between Sophie and Ryan and individually as they face life post-graduation. But, there were times that I truly struggled.

What I liked

**Erika Kelly taps into the very definition of the New Adult Romance genre with Mine for the Week. According to Wikipedia, NA is defined as: “characters that are leaving home, developing sexuality, and negotiating education and career choices.” This book has this in droves!

**Ryan and Sophie have an instant and electric attraction. It literally jumped off the page. This is definitely one of Kelly’s signature traits, this ability to write characters with unmistakable chemistry. With all of Ryan and Sophie’s push and pull in Mine for the Week this is never in doubt. And, they really work as a couple. They both challenge each other and bring out the best in each other.

**I loved watching these two characters come to terms with where they thought they were headed and where they really wanted to be. Anyone of us can relate to that fear and anxiety that plagues a person as they head into the real world and when your path has been laid out in front of you for as long as you can remember, that just makes it worse.

**Sophie is wonderful. I loved her spirit and no-nonsense attitude. I loved how much she wanted to preserve her family legacy. She’s a good friend and sister. She loves food and Kelly does a fantastic job of bringing this part of Sophie’s character to life. And, even though she’s at a crossroads, she is confident.

**Ryan’s story is a powerful one. We met him briefly in book one of this series, Mine for Now. If you’ve read that you know that his mother’s an alcoholic and that there’s a bit of dysfunction in the O’Donnell household. Ryan has spent the last 10 years working to be the perfect child, channeling his anger into baseball and he’s on the brink of a major league career. He’s disciplined and talented. And, he’s suffering from panic attacks the very week that pro scouts are watching him.

**I also really liked the setting. Kelly chooses to place her characters on a fictional resort in the Caribbean, Isla de los Amantes which literally means island lovers.

What I didn’t like

**I really, really wanted to like Ryan. I most certainly empathized with him and found his conflict totally believable. And, when he found his way out of his head, he was pretty awesome. But, I couldn’t get behind the choices he made regarding his baseball team, which I found to be incredibly irresponsible. He pursued Sophie in a way that made me very uncomfortable and was very selfish. While I understood that he was finally going after something he wanted, I didn’t like that he constantly disregarded Sophie’s wishes to get it.

**As Ryan struggled with his decisions, the narrative stalled. There was just a little too much of his flip-flopping between what he should do and what he wanted to do.

That said…

Even while Ryan’s story stalled out at times, Sophie’s moved forward consistently and I liked where she ended up. Once Ryan made a decision, he really shined and became the man he and Sophie deserved. I loved the ending and Kelly really pulled on the heartstrings when Ryan finally faced his family (and future) making some hard decisions.

3.75 Stars for Mine for the Week. Heat level: 3.5

I'm a huge fan of Erika Kelly. I have been since she released You Really Got Me (if you haven't read it...you should.) And this series is a great second effort. I LOVED the first book (Mine for Now) and this book is a great follow up. As always Erika delivers a great story with characters you can relate to, ups and downs that leave you guessing and romance, so much romance.

Ryan is not your typical hero. He's a good guy, a never let anyone down guy, a do exactly what's expected of him guy, and the stress is making him crazy. In an act that is absolutely out of character, he takes off and leaves his responsibilities behind (but we all know you can never do that right?) Then he meets Sophie and he's thrown for a loop. Watching him struggle with finding his way and figuring out what's right for him is heartbreaking at times, frustrating and emotional. Watching him figure out what to do with his feelings for Sophia is one hell of a roller coaster ride. And Sophie...Sophie is awesome. I wanted to be Sophie and be her best friend. She is fun, smart, independent but more than that....she's unafraid to be herself and to fight for her convictions. It was wonderful to read a Heroine that is not a door mat, but is a strong character even if that means walking away. Erika writes some of the very best female leads and Sophie is no exception.

I was thrilled when I first had the opportunity to read this one and it did not disappoint. I loved the story and I hope this isn't the last we see of these characters (there's still one more brother that deserves to have his story told. Hint Hint. LOL) Erika Kelly proves why she's one of my read-everything-she-writes-authors
And don’t miss the first title in the Wild Love Series!

Mine for the Week is a sizzling New Adult read. With the premise of a baseball player I was all in, but soon to realize it’s not really about baseball. My disappointment didn’t last long as I shifted expectations to a romance about our hero, Ryan O’Donnell, and our heroine, Sophie Valentine, both in the later years of college and who are both dragged by friends to a singles-only resort in Grenada. Most people are at this particular resort for the easy hookup. Not them. They are each in the midst of a personal life crisis. For Sophie it’s about her siblings desire to sell their cookie-making company when she doesn’t want to. For Ryan it’s about being on the precipice of recruitment to professional ball (I did have issues that the author made it sound like he’d automatically jump to the majors but there’d be at least a while of hell in the minors...but no biggie). He’s burnt out after the years of go-go-go. In the middle of this they discover each other. The author did a wonderful job at exploring this crisis for each character without it overwhelming the story too much and using it as a bonding point for the characters.
Chemistry between these characters literally sizzles off the page. They were great together and I enjoyed that they didn’t jump into bed immediately. They both had some standards (well her more than him...he is a guy).
Overall a fast, fun, super hot read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Mine For the Week (Wild Love) by Erika Kelly
Head, heart and humor collide to upend love as we know it.  For Sophie and Ryan instant attraction has changed the course of their lives.  Now they have to decide to listen to reason or let their hearts lead the way.  Ms. Kelly hit a home run with Mine for the Week. There's a sweetness to the story that gives it an almost ethereal quality and the passionate side gives off that addictive hint of naughty.  A MUST HAVE READ!

**3.5 stars**

Erika Kelly is a new to me author and I honestly didn't know what to expect from Mine for the Week. This book follows Ryan O'Donnell and Sophie Valentine. The two of them come from pretty different backgrounds and run each other randomly while on vacation at a single's resort. Their unlikely meeting quickly turns into something more.

I never thought this would be something I'd say but I was happy with the use of insta-love in this story. I'm not one of those people who completely hates insta-love but it can be annoying when it's not done right. There was an instant attraction between the two main characters but in the short amount of time that they knew each other they opened up like they've never done before. Not only that, they inspired growth and change in each other and I couldn't have asked for more.

Even though the majority of the story takes place over only one week, it felt like Ryan and Sophie knew each other for so much longer. The downside to this was getting annoyed with Ryan going through the same cycle of thinking. Whenever Sophie would tell him to think about what he wanted and his happiness, Ryan would would focus on making sure everyone else was happy or he was letting them down. I know this was a big part of himself he needed to overcome but I felt like he was taking too long to get to that point.

This was such an exciting journey and I had fun following Ryan and Sophie each step of the way. Overall, I was surprised with Mine for the Week and am happy I had the chance to read it. I would love to go back and read the first book in the companion series.

I'm in love with Ryan O'Donnell! I do have a soft spot for baseball players, but with Ryan he could have been anything. Erika Kelly develops characters like no other. You can feel the tension and love in her characters. The story sucked me in and I was in the 5th chapter before I knew it, I couldn't put my kindle down. MUST READ!

•••••••••••

REVIEW: 3.5 stars--MINE FOR THE WEEK is the second installment in Erika Kelly’s contemporary, new adult WILD LOVE erotic, romance series focusing on the O’Donnell siblings. This is top collegiate shortstop Ryan O’Donnell, and Crazy Hearts heiress Sophie Valentine’s story line. MINE FOR THE WEEK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. We were first introduced to Ryan in book one MINE FOR NOW.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Ryan and Sophie) MINE FOR THE WEEK follows the building but acrimonious relationship between two college seniors-professional baseball prospect Ryan O’Donnell, and cookie company heiress Sophie Valentine. It’s prospect week for college baseball, the scouts are in attendance, and our hero Ryan O’Donnell is about to spiral out of control. On the verge of panic, Ryan’s best friend suggests an island retreat to Santa Grenada wherein our hero will walk away from his future, and meet the woman with whom he will fall in love. Enter Crazy Hearts heiress and college senior Sophie Valentine, a woman on the cusp of a future that is about to be pulled out from under (her). What ensues is the acrimonious relationship between Sophie and Ryan, and the fall out when Ryan’s ex-girlfriend comes back looking to rekindle what’s left of their failed friendship and love.

MINE FOR A WEEK is a story of family, friendships and facing the future. Ryan knows he is destined for the major leagues. Baseball is his life but our hero is looking for something different; something more. A past mired in heartbreak, a dysfunctional family where addiction and drama followed in its’ wake, Ryan has always fronted the epitome of perfection; the perfect son and student; the perfect boyfriend and star athlete but a man whose inner turmoil pulls our hero in another direction-a direction he is unable to decipher until the end. Sophie Valentine is in the battle of her life as her family considers selling her beloved Crazy Hearts cookie factory in the hopes of a lucrative payout and retirement. Sophie’s attempts to dissuade her siblings are met with derision, and a family unable to come to terms about the future.

The relationship between Sophie and Ryan is one of immediate attraction but from the start Sophie is unable to let go. Ryan’s seduction of Sophie begins as an island adventure, and our heroine wants nothing to do with what she believes is a $ex craved athlete letting go on Spring Break in Santa Grenada. Ryan’s pursuit of Sophie is off-putting; she is unable to look past the ‘hook up’ of spring break. Trusting Ryan grows more difficult as their ‘friendship’ blossoms letting Ryan in will cost Sophie her heart and her self-esteem. The $ex scenes are seductive and intense. Throughout the story our very independent heroine had a habit of running; misinterpreting signs and conversations; and had a difficult time accepting the truth for what it was. She is constantly looking for faults including those in her relationship with Ryan O’Donnell.

We are introduced to Ryan’s best friends Dixon and Jake; his ex girlfriend Emma, as well as the reappearance of Ryan’s father Bill, sister Nicole and her boyfriend Dylan (Mine For Now) and his troubled brother Brandon; Sophie’s friends Kat and Laura, and Sophie’s ex-boyfriend Richard aka King.

MINE FOR THE WEEK was a bit of a struggle for me. I didn’t like the heroine. Some would call her strong and self-reliant but it is this part of her personality that I battled because of the way it is presented-an over the top need to be independent, and separate from the whole. Neither character was perfect; their personality quirks made for some uncomfortable situations. The premise is entertaining; the romance is passionate and intense; the characters are colorful and charismatic. MINE FOR THE WEEK is a well written, and engaging story line.

I will admit with no embarrassment that I am an adult reader who loves Young Adult fiction. I love it! Mine for a Week is not YA fiction. So why can I not remember reading about a more immature hero in a looooong time?

There’s a lot to love about out hero, Ryan O’Donnell. He’s sexy, he’s disciplined, he’s a soon-to-be a professional baseball player. Sadly, he’s also emotionally stunted and entirely too concerned with what others think of him.

The novel opens with Ryan choking at bat while playing in front of professional scouts. His friend Jake “rescues” him by whisking him off to a singles resort for spring break. Within a few minutes of being there Ryan meets Sophie Valentine, a free spirited heiress to a cookie fortune. Sparks fly immediately and it is hot. I thought, “Oh, I am in! Ryan is my next book boyfriend!”

But somehow on the way, he lost me and I found myself wanting to scream at Sophie, “Forget about him, girl! Move on!”

See, Ryan is the son of an alcoholic. And he learned as a child that life would be easier if he just kept everyone happy. That translated into a college senior who was so bust making everyone else happy, he didn’t know how to make himself happy. Sophie was much more patient with this behavior than I would’ve been. It drove me crazy how often Ryan would shut down, refuse to make a decision or talk to her, she would push him away only to take him back when he apologized. It was just a little too angsty for my liking (and remember, I’m a seasoned YA reader).

That said, Sophie is 100% awesome and the couple have great chemistry. Kelly writes great love scenes; there’s just the right amount of heat. I really enjoyed that aspect.

This was my first Erika Kelly book. And, though I wasn’t Ryan’s biggest fan, I really enjoyed her writing style. I would definitely read more from her. So I’m giving the book 3.5 stars!

The couple: Ryan and Sophie

Romance genre: New Adult
Series: Wild Love
Length: 396 pages

Plot: Ryan and Sophie both find themselves on a resort island during Spring Break. Sophie is there to have some fun before making a decision about her family's business. Ryan is there because during a baseball game, where recruiters were scouting him, he choked. He's not sure if he wants to play ball anymore, but it's all he's ever done. The two of them meet, and things don't go so well at first. They begin to spend more and more time together though, and eventually, each of them has to start making decisions.

Commentary: I generally don't read New Adult - well, not on purpose. I seem to fall into them and am never happy about it, for lots of personal reasons that don't even matter. But anyways, these two were the absolute epitome of new adult. They didn't know what they were going to do next and there was a lot of whiny introspection. That sounds judgmental. It is a little. Both of them, but Ryan especially, went back and forth so much that I should have whiplash. Ryan wanted to improve his mindset so he could play baseball. He wanted to stay with Sophie. He wanted to make his dad and coach proud. He wanted to stay with Sophie. He literally went to the airport to get on a plane to go back home for a game, and then decided to stay with Sophie. But then he'd completely freeze her out. She's much more forgiving than I could ever be because I felt like he jerked her around a lot.
However, I really liked the ending. I liked the compromise that Sophie's aunt helped her figure out. I liked the engagement scene, although I wanted to hit all of their friends over the head! I also liked the exploration of what an athlete would do when they're burned out. If you've been a ballplayer since elementary school, by the time you're in college, that's a huge chink of your life. Do you commit to it for the rest of your life, or do you take a break? And it won't ever be a break, will it, because athletes can't just bounce back in when they take a significant time off.

I hate to say it, but I almost DNF'd this book. I had a really hard time connecting to Ryan and Sophia and their story.
I'm glad I kept reading as things did get better, but I still never fully invested in these two having a happily ever after. Sophia was a much more likable character, Ryan just fell short for me. He would have incredibly sweet moments, but then would take his frustrations out on Sophia and that just didn't sit well.
I picked up Mine for the Week because I liked the idea of a spring break fling becoming so much more. There were some very sweet/sexy moments in which I did find myself really rooting for them to make it, but there were just a few too many "second chances." Some of that may have to do with the age of the characters (22 - college seniors), but it was a little too much drama for the sake of drama.
This might be just the right read for the right person, but it fell to just average for me.

The first word that pops into my mind when I think of this book is juvenile. I never took seriously the main characters even though I tried. Sophie was almost good, but in the end, I didn't like her. I wanted her to stand up for herself sooner and not let continue is hot and cold behavior. It was like Ryan was two different people, the one who cared and the one who at the mention of the world girlfriend turned into a cold and uncaring man.Why should I believe that he actually loves Sophie? He wants her, but love is another thing.

It took me three days to read this book, which is a strong indication to how much I didn't like it. I didn't hate it, but I didn't have the best time reading it. The book had some good moments, but the bad outweighed the good in this case. I wouldn't recommend the book.

**MINOR SPOILERS**
This book is the second of a duology. The first book is about Nicole, Ryan’s sister, who briefly appears in this book.
I did not realize when I bought it how young the two main characters are (21). Despite that, the sexual tension is constant and high. Some of the language is crude. The sex is graphic. The author writes as if constant sexual activity is the norm. I think if people choose that lifestyle that is fine as long as it is mutually agreeable and safe, but I am just pointing out that people have many different attitudes towards sex from choosing to abstain to frequent indulgences with variations in style. The freewheeling attitude about sex is pervasive throughout most of the book. Ryan says “Of course I did” when Sophie asked if he had sex with others when he and his ex girlfriend broke up. I thought it was revealing when the author wrote that Sophie did not want to be ‘used’ in this way when referring to hookups. Towards the end of the book, Sophie’s friends express a small change of attitude towards having hook ups with no connection.
I liked how caring and protective Ryan was of Sophie but there were times at the beginning of the book when it felt a little patronizing and Sophie seemed a bit clueless. Ryan is facing a life crisis. He is a few months from graduation, and all his life has prepared to go professional playing baseball. At the beginning of the book, he suffers anxiety and panic while playing in front of scouts and takes off in the middle of a game when a friend of his shows up.
I liked Sophie’s adventurous approach to life. She is at the singles resort because two of her friends wanted to go and she treats it as a vacation. She is not interested in hookups without emotional attachments, so she goes out to try sailing, the music festival, etc. She also is the one to go and rescue her friend who goes to the wrong bar and feels threatened.
Sophie is facing a business situation with her family and Ryan gives her a suggestion about how to handle it. She starts to stand up for herself with her family, who does not respect her because she is the youngest by several years.
As Ryan and Sophie ease into a relationship, Ryan goes back and forth about his attitude towards Sophie. There are a few times when he is really a jerk, and Sophie pushes back a little but ultimately is very forgiving. She was a saint to put up with some of the things he says and does.
Having read the first book, I was a little disappointed by the way Ryan’s relationship with his father was characterized in this book. In the first book, Ryan’s father, Bill, was seemingly unaware of some of what happened to Ryan’s sister, Nicole, when she lived with her alcoholic mother but made up for it later when he understood what was going on. Nicole had gone to live with her mother when her mother was sober and doing well. She fell off the wagon later causing Nicole to feel food insecurity and many other issues. I came away from that book with a generally positive feeling about Bill. In this book, Bill left Nicole with her mother after she had to go to the hospital due to an accident while drunk. Bill had taken the two sons, Ryan and Brandon, and Ryan says that while his parents were together, he felt closer to his Little League coach than his dad because his dad was dealing with his mother. His parents argued constantly. Probably true in a relationship with an alcoholic, but Bill seems like a good father for the most part. He had a difficult reaction to Ryan’s decision to go on vacation during the middle of the season, which is understandable, but it felt like he had feet of clay in a few moments.
When Ryan realizes and conveys some of what he was feeling when he was a kid and why his reaction was to become a disciplined athlete with control over aspects of his life, it came across as believable and tugs at your heart.
A major theme of the book is alcoholism. It takes a tragic look at the toll it takes on the people in the lives of alcoholics. Ryan and his siblings suffered as the children of an alcoholic. Nicole’s father suffered as the husband of one.
The story was overly dramatic in many places.
The book alternates between Sophie and Ryan’s point of view.
I bought both books in the duology before reading either, because I had enjoyed another book by the author. Otherwise, I might not have read this one after the first book. I was disappointed by both.

This book was given to me free in exchange for an honest review

This book was surprisingly enjoyable. The basic story is about baseball athlete Ryan and cookie heiress Sophie who meet at a singles holiday resort. The resort is all about hooking up and having a good time but Ryan and Sophie seem to be the only two people there who are just trying to distance themselves from their lives whilst they work out their problems.

I was surprised because there was no sports really in the story and because it was quite full of drama. Not my usual thing, but I really enjoyed this story.

There is a high element of instalove here. Ryan sees Sophie and is pretty much bowled over. So much so that he felt a bit stalkerish at times. He follows her around and insists on 'saving' her a few times when it's debatable that she needs saving which annoyed me. But the author also realises this and explains it well.

The two eventually get together and there is a great HEA at the end.

The characters
Ryan had pluses and minuses. I definitely felt that he was goodlooking and hot. The author got that across well. I was smitten. What was less appealing was his changeable nature. Both characters had a lot of 'angst' to deal with and it was pitched well. I could see both sides. Ryan spent the week working through his issues and see-sawing between his feelings. Whilst totally understandable it did annoy me after a while. Make a decision dude! Yes, look out for yourself for once but it can't be denied that your indecision affects a lot of people around you.

I felt that Ryan could have given baseball a bit more of a chance. He could have worked more on why he had panic attacks, got professional help. Maybe given baseball a chance just for a year or two. It's hard because this sold itself as a baseball novel. I love a sports romance. I like reading about the game and the team camaraderie but there is actually no sports in this book. I missed that.

As for Sophie, she also had her issues to work with. Sometimes I just wanted her to loosen up a bit. Enjoy yourself woman! Here you are about to get it on with a gorgeous athlete and your worrying about corporate mergers! I guess I am just a bit more into low angst, more sexy time stories. I am SO SHALLOW.

But the angst keeps the story going. And when the two do get together it was really hot! I LOVED how desperate Ryan was. Go Ryan! I loved it. It was HOT.

So in closing, a bit 'angsty' for my personal taste hence only 4 stars, but I know many people love the depth that brings to the story. Instalove aside, i never doubted their connection and I loved the ending. I wanted to be in their ending with them! I am definitely going to read the other book in the series and the rock star series. Ryan might even be my book boyfriend for a while if he chills out a bit.

Original review: A Novel Glimpse

Note: I received an ARC from Inkslinger PR in exchange for an unbiased review.

Mine for the Week is my first Wild Love novel, but I’ve been a fan of Erika Kelly’s writing for a while now. I loved her Rock Star Romance series. I wanted to love Mine for the Week, but I didn’t. It ended up being a book that wasn’t well suited to me. That’s not to say it’s a bad book. There were just some things that didn’t jive with me.

I’m going to start with the things I did like. As always, I enjoyed Erika Kelly’s writing style. I loved the characters’ backgrounds. Each had a great back story. Jake was consumed by the pressure he felt as a top-notch college athlete. He felt the need to follow a path set for him as a child. He loved baseball, but needed a break. Jake also had some worries about letting down his family. Emma was an heiress who wanted to play a bigger part in her family business. She wanted to honor tradition, but had to figure out a way to do that without dividing her family. The way they shared their histories and the problems those histories created boned Jake and Emma together well. I liked how they seemed to naturally understand each other. I also liked how they knew how to help with each other’s problems.

Another thing I loved was the setting. The tropical island Emma and Jake were on helped create a special environment for them to bond. Emma’s sense of adventure helped as well. She was in a new, tropical place and wanted to spend her time exploring that. I loved what that created for her and Jake.

What I loved most about this book was the ending. The ending was everything I desire from a contemporary romance ending. It was so cute! It was everything I wished the rest of the book was.

The things I didn’t like overshadowed some of those good things. The setting is one of those. I loved the tropical setting, but I didn’t love singles resort theme. It seemed unnecessary for two people who weren’t really into it. A normal resort would have worked just as well.

My biggest problem with Mine for the Week was the way Jake blatantly pursued Emma. She made it obvious she wasn’t into hooking up, but he wouldn’t let up. He was almost stalkerish. It felt like he was forcing things even when she was into it. It made me uncomfortable.

Obviously, I had mixed feelings about Mine for the Week. The good and the bad seemed to even each other out. When it comes down to it, this book was a good book, but it just wasn’t the book for me. I know other romance readers would enjoy it. I would still like to go back and read the first book in the series, and I would read the next book

Posted on What I'm Reading

All right, you could pretty much read Mine for the Week without reading Mine for Now, because the story focuses on Ryan O'Donnell and Sophie Valentine. I couldn't remember exactly how the two stories were tied together. Don't get me wrong I did read the first book, but it has been a year. Towards the end I remembered how they are tied together. Anyway, back to the story.

We have Ryan who is under extreme pressure and he needs a break, and his friends whisk him away to a tropical island for spring break. They basically tell him to let loose and have wild sex. However, the pressure of life are at the forefront of his mind until he meets Sophie. Sophie's also trying to escape the pressure of her life. Her family wants to sell their legacy and Sophie doesn't want to. She's also trying to relax. Okay, Ryan and Sophie first meet and it's pretty bad. Ryan's kind of a douche when he meets Sophie. However, he can seem to forget her. Anyway, these two keep coming back to one another, but Ryan's life is always in the background causing trouble. I like how Sophie helps him try to figure out what he needs to do, he also helps her with her problem.

Okay, I'm on the fence with Ryan. I think he tried to hard to be a good guy which hurt Sophie a lot. I like that she was blunt with him. She straight up told him he needed to get his act together. There were times I got a little teary eye for Sophie, because she didn't want to have feelings for Ryan or she would have to tell herself that it's a spring fling.

I couldn't put Mine For the Week down, but there were times that I had to pause because I wanted to cause bodily harm to some characters. Number on the list would be Sophie's sister Abbey. Oh my gosh I wanted to throat punch the woman. Seriously that woman got on my nerves. However, Sophie was totally awesome. She definitely had a zest for life. Anyway, a pretty good read.

3.5 stars review to come

I loved Erika's Rockstar books so I was curious where she'd take this series. This is the second book but I don't feel liked missed anything. I had no idea what to expect really but it flowed really well in the start. While I had moments I had to push through with the angst, I loved how it ended made it come together. It was sweet after the struggle.

Ryan and Sophie had a funny first meeting, that is to say they didn't get on at all. But Ryan being out of sorts helps her out they get to talking more on this mission to help Sophie's friend. They go deeper than expected during that time, get to know each other, an intense first attraction. Both of them as it seems as the crossroads of their career of choice one baseball and the other family business. Ryan dealing with expectations along with uncertainty and Sophie being treated unfairly by family. It's a lot of tension building despite their resolve to stay away from one another.

These two are so on and off. Ryan can turn on his feelings or hold back just like that. Pretty indecisive at times too. Sophie had a lot going on too and was either refusing or giving in. She irked me a times being stubbornly independent, which is great really and I get why, just there was something about how it was done that bothered me though. I felt frustrated it kept going on circling around and clearly these two have their issues to sort out. But it's up to them after the break it over to decide where it goes.

Mine for the week is more than title, it's about following your passion, life and family. It was a week for them both to get their problems together while actually hanging out. Yes the steamy moments from the islands are there, it built up to it. So it does somewhat hold true. It's about life decisions and finding themself too, for not only Sophie and Ryan but the other characters too. It was well written and entertaining read that made me want to read about the first and next book.

I fell in love with Ryan! Loved this book! MINE FOR A WEEK is the second book in Erika Kelly’s Wild Love Series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I usually like to read a series in order and the first book, MINE FOR NOW, is great too so I would recommend reading it in order. The Wild Love series a new adult romance series that features one of the O’Donnell siblings in each book. MINE FOR THE WEEK is a great mix of passion, emotion and humor. Ryan and Sophie’s chemistry heated up the pages and I just really enjoyed their story. Erika Kelly always delivers a great love story that makes you feel good. I’ve been hooked on her books since I read her first book, YOU REALLY GOT ME, from her Rock Star Romance series. Erika Kelly is on my must buy list and I recommend her to readers who are looking for a feel good romance.

Mine for the Week is set in a singles resort, where two college students have escaped for the spring break. They are there for different reasons. Not necessarily to hook up with anyone!

Ryan is the captain of his baseball team. He is renowned, but makes an exit during a crucial game. His heart is not in scoring at the resort, until he sets eyes on a voluptuous brunette.

Sophie is at the resort with her two best friends. She is there to enjoy the outdoors, not for the same reasons as her friends.

Their first interaction is somewhat embarrassing. Sophie is in need of assistance and Ryan readily offers his help. Being strangers to each other, they decide to share their reasons for being on the island. Their secrets are safe as they don't move in the same circle. Not even the same town. They don't expect the strong connection that has Ryan persuing Sophie. She doesn't have casual relationships and he doesn't want a relationship. Will they take a chance for the one week or continue to resist the pull? This sort of chemistry isn't easy to find!

I like Sophie's empathy and her problem solving ability. Ryan has been so used to aim to please that he struggles to make decisions. It's a soulful, sensual and fascinating story. I absolutely love the storyline and enjoyed it as much as Mine for Now. Superb finish!

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

I really liked this book. It was a bit angsty but it was that good kind like trying to figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life. Everyone thinks once a person graduates college they their whole planned out now. Everything they have been working for since they were a kid will just fall into their laps and they will be making tons money because now they have graduated college. In reality as Sophie and Ryan discover sometimes it doesn't work like that. Sometimes what you thought wanted for your life is not what you needed.
A whirlwind romance that happens over spring break can actually be the best thing that happens to two people. Yes, this book is a bit cheesy but in the best way. I like how this story is about two people learning it is okay to shake things up. In life, it is never too late late to chase dreams. Life changes and the road gets rocky. It is always better to go along that rocky with the person you love most and will always have your back. Plus, the chemistry between Sophie and Ryan was hot hot hot. I am beginning to have real soft spot for the O'Donell family. I can't wait to see what is in store for the next sibling.

Mine for the Week by Erika Kelly – Book 2 in the Wild Love Series – 5 stars

Mine for the Week is book 2 and can be read as a standalone. This is the story of graduating seniors Ryan and Sophie. Ryan is a top collegiate baseball player and Sophie is “heiress” who wants to get into the family business after graduation. They both go to college across the country from each other and hook up during their last spring break at an exclusive resort similar to Hedonism – ANYTHING goes.

Sophie is a strong protagonist who isn’t afraid to say what she wants to say or do what she wants to do. Ryan has lived his life a particular way and is at a crossroads in life. I liked meeting all of the characters, from the main couple to the group of friends they each surround themselves with. There are lighthearted funny moments and deep, life altering moments. There is romance and passion and dreams and goals. It is a well written, quick read.

This is the first Ericka Kelly book I have read, and I will be adding her other books to my TBR. I absolutely recommend this book.

This is the first story I have read from Erika Kelly. I enjoyed this story. Ryan is a top collegiate shortstop with a chance of going to majors. He is in a big tournament with scouts watching his every move. He bails on his team just needing to take a break for himself. He goes with a bunch of his friends to singles resort. He meets Sophie at the bar and their is a special connection. Sophie is in a midst of crisis as well and her friends drag her to the singles resort to take a break from the real world.

Ryan and Sophie are both at point in life where there is a crisis going on. They are searching for answers about what they want and need in their life. It made the characters share a common bond. I liked reading their story because they seemed so down to earth. I liked how protective Ryan was of Sophie. They shared a special connection and at the same time fought it. I couldn't help but root for them to finally get it together. It was a great story.

Loved Ryan and Sophie! Ryan is a college baseball player getting ready to go pro. Only one problem, he is having a panic attack at the plate. His friend pulls him out of the game and whisks him away with the excuse of a family emergency to an island in the Caribbean. The goal was to let loose and be wild for a week and then get back to his life after getting laid. Ryan is fresh out of a six year relationship--his girlfriend cheated. Enter Sophie Valentine. Her family owns the cookie dynasty, Crazy Hearts. She is graduating college and wants to find her place in the family and the business. Only her family will not let her in and wants to sell off Crazy Hearts. She is taking Spring Break to explore the island and have an adventure. She is not one night stand material. This book will grab your heart and you will fall in love with these characters!

I was excited to read something from Erika Kelly- it had been a while. Unfortunately for me, Mine for the Week just fell a bit flat. Don't get me wrong, I am all for insta-love and insta-lust but something between Ryan and Sophie just didn't seem to click.

I liked that Ryan was pushy and that Sophie wasn't having any of it. I liked her a lot for it actually. But his relentless pursuit eventually wore her down and their week long escape only brought more issues to the surface. Like life and obligations and family and distance and dreams....

I found the pace to be a bit slow and some of the situations forced. Granted things take place during a week (as hinted in the title) but at two thirds through the book it had been 4 days. And then the last few chapters spanned a few months- I don't know - it just seemed to rush. Please don't mistake this as me trying to bash Erika Kelly's work, that is not what I'm doing, nor is it ever my intention. This book just didn't do it for me.

Ryan has a baseball career to win.
Sophie just wanted to find a girlfriend who had gotten lost.
They met at an unlikely party and as if fate spoke louder, Ryan decided to follow his desire to be with her instead of staying at one of the best singles parties he could go.
Could this friendship raise higher flights?

The chemistry between them was - almost - instantaneous. (Ryan was amazed at Sophie from the first moment, she was not so much for him ...). But with such different lives and so many decisions to make, perhaps the easiest way for Sophie would be to stay with King, the man she had known a lifetime and showed that he wanted to be with her. But Ryan, as the athlete he was, shows that he would not give up so easily, even if he had to give up everything else...

A modern romance with a surprising ending.

This was honestly a really good book, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had a great plot, super hot chemistry and it had me stuck to the pages by the end of the first chapter, I couldn't put it down.

When Ryan, a baseball obsessed college student starts to choke in front of major league scouts he friends fake a family emergency and drag him off to a singles resort in the Caribbean. Within 20 minutes of arriving at the anything goes resort, designed with hook-ups in mind, he meets Sophie. She rejects his initial advances, she doesn't do one night stands. Ryan's new obsession is Sophie, while his baseball career is slipping he can't keep a distance from her. Will he get the girl and keep his baseball career? You'll have to read the book.

I really enjoyed Ryan and Sophie's journey. They were drawn to each other, but felt something different than they had in other relationships. Sophie is the kind of girl who wants more and doesn't want just a hookup and she fought her feelings for Ryan. Ryan has always been the good kid and life isn't going the direction he wants. I enjoyed the push and pull between them and I wanted something to happen with them. This kind of chemistry doesn't come very often and I was cheering them on. The setting where they met was fun and meant to be carefree. I liked how Ryan watched out for her, when he could have been worried about something else. Their story is sweet, has all the feels and I couldn't put this book down! I HIGHLY recommend this read!

Ryan and Sophie's story is the quintessential college spring break story. Boy meets girl while on spring break in the islands. But that's where the similarities end.

Ryan is a top notch shortstop, like scouts are looking at him. However, he is on the cusp of getting his dreams and he's having some anxiety. So he gets swept away by his friends to a singles island to get rid of all his anxieties.

Sophie is with her girlfriends, having a good time not looking for a hookup or a boyfriend or anything. But then Ryan shows up and he's a hot, sweet guy. And she just can't believe it.

And that's all I'm saying because you need to read and experience Ryan and Sophie yourself.

First of all, you NEED to read this book! Within the first few pages I was hooked and I pretty much didn't put it down until I was finished. From the first meeting of Ryan O'Donnell and Sophie Valentine I felt like I was catching up with friends who were going to tell me about their whirlwind romance. And boy did they ever! I loved how they met at a singles resort, loved how they clicked with each other. The ups and downs absolutely tugged at me.

Do yourself a huge favor and read this book. Erika Kelly pulls you in and takes you for a wonderful ride of emotions.

This is the second book in the series. You don't have to read the first one to read this but I recommend that you do (because you can never go wrong reading Erika Kelly's books). I absolutely loved this book!! Sophie and Ryan make a great couple, which had me reading all night just to see them get their HEA! Can't wait to read Brandon's book.
