Surprise You're a Christmas Bride by Natalie-Nicole Bates

Maisey Gates runs a succesful blog called The Hand Me Down Bride and has recently moved to Vinegrove, WA. When the cab she is in breaks down one night after a night out with her friends at Que Syrah Syrah, she meets police officer Sean Marshall who gives her a lift home.

When her friends ask her to pick a name of a single man she does so reluctantly, knowing she will never call. Yet the name could also be a change for her and force her to get out.

Sean Marshall hasn't moved on since his wife died but maybe Maisey is the one for him. Yet secrets that each have towards the other could be their downfall and maybe the Love List will create more problems for Maisey than she ever thought possible.

I liked this story and it was a quick Christmas romance about the hands of fate. I liked Maisey and how hard she worked to get successful, yet she didn't seem to be as lucky in love.

I understood why Sean was mad but think he did over react a little. The list seems to cause lots of problems for all the women!

Christmas Kisses & Wishes by Sharon Kleve

Finn Dubose is on a year long venture to get her life back on track after getting divorced from her husband. Her and her dog Scorch began in Miami and are now ending their journey with their last three months to be spent in Vine Grove, Washington.

Keaton Vanhorn is a veterinarian in Vine Grove and finds himself immediately attracted to Finn and the two begin to spend time together, enjoying each others company.

Unfortunately Finn has kept a couple of things from Keaton and when he finds out will he be headed right for the door or will he trust Finn enough to let her explain and give her a solid chance at forgiveness?

I enjoyed this Christmas treat! Finn was great and I loved how she was able to take time for herself to find herself after her marriage ending. Although she ended up with some issues in Miami that seemed to follow her around I think she finally was able to find herself.

I completely understand why Keaton was mad at being kept in the dark with certain important things. I think I would be quite upset as well!

I also really liked Tegan Taylor, the owner of Que Syrah Syrah Wine Shop and how they had a great group of girls that got together. I truly believe there needs to be more girl get togethers like this!

Such a great Christmas romance!

A Home for Christmas by Jennifer Conner

Kady Randall and her son Noah have been making ends meet by themselves until their home catches fire and Kady is forced to move back into her parents home in Vine Grove. Kady is able to get a job at the local wine shop Que Syrah Syrah where the ladies have a Love List which is meant to get the ladies out and meeting some of the local single men.

Editon Rain is a local boy who had feelings for Kady back in high school. He is someone who gives back to the community and jumps at the chance to take Kady out.

Will Kady allow Editon to get close to her and what will Noah think of her dating? Will Noah realize what Editon's intentions are and give his mom a chance at happiness? Will the Love List hamper any chance at Kady being happy?

I enjoyed this book as it looked at misconceptions that we have for people without really knowing what they have going for them. I loved how Editon was completely different than what we thought he was going to be.

I also enjoyed the surprises about Noah and how that affected Kady and her decisions. I think Kady did a great job with Noah but I think sometimes we just need an extra helping hand, no matter how difficult it may be to ask for that help.

I really liked Kady and she made me laugh with her insecurities and hesitations with everything around her. She really didn't want anything to affect her job and friendships with the ladies around her.

A great story about second chances for happiness and starting over.

Country Christmas Wishes by Angela Ford

Ten years ago Dakota Timmons received some shocking news that changed everything for her. Now she is ready to get her life on track and a meet a man who doesn't know she even exists. Yet when she enters Vinegrove, WA ready to start a new life she is almost in a car accident with the very handsome Tristan Hart.

Tristan Hart is managing his cousin's vineyard, Tanner Vineyard and is immediately attracted to Dakota. His cousin, Chase, is married to Becca who is best friends with Teagan who invites Dakota to Que Syrah Syrah to draw a name of an eligible bachelor.

As Dakota tries to deal with her feelings towards Tristan she must also deal with the man who brought her to town and see if she has finally found a place to call home.

I must admit that this list is a sign of genius but at the same time causes so much trouble when the men learn about it. You'd think that maybe more men in town would know of it's existence and be honored to be on it!

I felt so bad for Dakota at the beginning of the book with what her evil sister, Sabrina, said to her. I was so disappointed in her family but glad she was determined to make the best of it.

She had so much on her plate between the two men and I am so glad everything worked out for her as she really deserved it.

A Home for Christmas – Jennifer Conner

Kady never thought that she and her son, Noah, would have to come back to Vine Grove. But after nearly losing everything in a fire, moving in with Mom and Dad was her only choice. Country Christmas Wishes – Angela Ford

Dakota Timmons, a registered nurse, leaves the bustling city life for small town comfort in Washington’s wine country. As a child, she wished for a white Christmas. As an adult, her wish remains the same along with a new one. Vinegrove is exactly what she needs. She only hopes she’s what the doctor ordered. Or that he at least accepts her shocking news. Avoiding an accident by seconds on her way into town introduces Dakota to Tristan Hart. Instant attraction makes them both think about love for the first time in their demanding careers. He calls her Miss Country Girl and in her mind she calls him Mr. Stetson. Under his Stetson, this man has the most piercing eyes, a striking blue-green combination. They remind her of the Pacific tropical seas. She’s absorbed in thought to meet the man she’d changed her zip code for, but she’s reminded of Tristan when she joins her new friends for a wine and chat night. A basket is placed on her lap. She’s to pick a name from it and then ask him out. A wild idea but she agrees to play a game called The Love List. To her surprise, she picks Tristan Hart.

My Thoughts:

This collection of four sweet Christmas stories is not written in my preferred genre but when asked to review it I decided why not.

I mostly read and review historical romance titles and this one is a contemporary collection all centered around a small town with a wine shop and a group of ladies with a penchant for matchmaking via "The Love List".

They supposedly throw the names of all of the towns eligible bachelors into a hat/bowl and they all draw out a name. But it's actually rigged and all the names are the same so that each newcomer to the group and their town gets paired with the man these ladies think is best for her. It's actually working out quite well.

If you have a little time left in your busy holiday schedule I encourage you to grab a copy of this novella/novelette anthology. The reads are all very nice and the stories well written. These are all sweet novellas/short reads and all were very enjoyable.

I gave the collection as a whole 4.75 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization. There is no actual sex in these stories, just sweet romantic byplay so the heat rating is 1 of 5 flames. I received a complimentary copy of this book from one of the authors to read and review. This in no way affected my opinion.

These four stories are also available as single title eBooks.

Back at Que Syrah Syrah wine shop, a new group of single girls is going to draw names for available single guys in town. In the past, the ladies placed the name of a man in the basket, and each woman draws a name and is to call that man. In the past, love has come about from this Love List. Many of the men know about the so-called Love List, but what will their reactions be when they find out that the woman of their dreams has picked their name? Is this all just a cruel joke, or has fate intervened?

Surprise! You're a Christmas Bride (The Christmas Love List Book 1) by Natalie-Nicole Bates
MAYBE A CHRISTMAS ANGEL PUT HIS NAME ON THE LOVE LIST

The plot has a newcomer to town, Maisey Gates, given a name that was drawn from the Love List basket of an eligible bachelor that she is to call and hopefully develop a relationship. But Maisey tells her girlfriends, no. Still, they toss a paper to her, and she just places it in her pocket to leave. Trying to get home during a winter storm, lots of ice, a broken down cab, sets her to walking, and police officer Sean Marshall stops to assist her and drives her home. Two people, meeting by accident but feel a strong connection. “When something is so right, you just knew it, and you didn’t let it get away.” What will Sean say when Maisey tells him about the silly love list game? “It didn’t matter how they came together; it was meant to be. The joy and love she felt was so strong it was palpable.”

Christmas Kisses & Wishes (The Christmas Love List Book 2) by Sharon Kleve
FOR THE LOVE OF ANIMALS

The plot has Finn Dubose, recently divorced, traveling along with her pug, Scorch, hoping to find the perfect place to settle down. She has visited several states but did not feel that any of them were right for her until she visited Vine Grove, Washington. The town, its people, and especially the local veterinarian, Keaton Vanhorn, it finally feels like home. Trouble has followed Finn no matter where she tries to go in the form of a stalker named Wayne from Miami. How far will he go to terrorize Finn before the law does something about it? Will word of the Love List and ladies that meet at Que Syrah Syrah wine shop come between Keaton and Finn? Two people, both with a deep love of animals that have so much in common will they each get their happily ever after ending?

A Home for Christmas (The Christmas Love List Book 3)
LOOK AHEAD AND TURN THE WHAT-IFS INTO A FUTURE

Poor choices had Kady involved with Tad in high school, and them dropping out and moving to California because she was pregnant. Tad didn’t hang around and left her when she was eight-months pregnant. She made do, had her baby, Noah, and even went to community college to become a teacher. When their trailer burns down, she has no choice but to return to Vine Grove, Washington and move in with her parents. Sometimes you can go home again, and for Kady and Noah, it will offer new beginnings.

The plot has Kady and her son, Noah, coming back to her childhood hometown and moving in with her parents. Running into high school friend, Editon turns out to be another positive in their situation. Her new job at Que Syrah Syrah helps Kady feel productive, meet new friends, and start looking towards her future. Dating Editon was not in her plans, but a snow storm helped push these two together and give them a chance. “I looked for so long, and I found that what I really wanted was a home for Christmas. The people of Vine Grove and you gave me that.”

Christmas Country Wishes (The Christmas Love List Book 4) by Angela Ford
WELCOME TO VINE GROVE, MISS COUNTRY GIRL

The plot has Dakota Timmons, a registered nurse, leaving her life in Seattle and accepting a job at Vine Grove Hospital as an RN. She has been on a mission for the past ten years, searching for the man who is her biological father. She dearly loves the man she thought was her Dad, but her self-centered mother is too tied up in money, and social status and Dakota’s father did not match her desires. When Dakota comes to Vine Grove, she is nearly in an accident with Tristan Hart; maybe fate is helping her along. She has several wishes, a white Christmas, finding her biological father and the man of her dreams. What happens when everything seems to be falling into place in her life and Tristan overhears a conversation about him being the name picked by Dakota regarding the Love List? Was their meeting and falling in love all premeditated, or is fate bringing these two together for their happily ever after?

This was not a great read for me but I think it was more due to the complete differences in writing styles while going through this book. So in order to better explain I am going to review each book.
Surprise you're a Christams bride by Natalie-nicole bates 3 stars.
Maisey and Sean were a cute couple they were just unbelievable for me as a reader. Maisey has just been granted a huge opprtunity so when she also meets a great guy she thinks her life is finally coming together. That is until he misses their first date. Okay the reason I didn't care for this read was the fact that they hadn't even started dating and yet Maisey thought she was allowed to be angry at the fact that he didn't show up at her house on Thankksgiving even though he told her he had prior commitents. Yes he didn't call her but when he went to her house to explain and fix it she blew up on him. Then when he realized she was hiding something that was minor as well he got angry. I just didn't think this was believable. However I do believe that the only reason it irked me so much was because I could see the potential and I think this would have been better off as a full story instead lf a novella. Irregardless of these facts it was a quaint Christmas story.

Christmas kisses and wishes by Sharon Kleve. 4 stars.
This was a nice short story that had a bit of suspence due to a stalker. I enjoyed Finn and Keaton immensley. Even though they both likked eachother they acted more as friends and Finn didnt drop her stance on trusting someone until she was competely sure of Keaton. And Keaton didn't push her irrationally. Yes they both became mad sometimes but they built some trust before dating. This was a great Christmas read.

A home for Christmas by Jennifer Conner 4 stars.
Kady is coming back to her hometown inorder to make sure her son is safe. And she is trying to give him a better life. When she ran into an old aquaintiance from school, Editon, she thinks life may start to look up. This was a great Christmas romance about second first chances. I would definitely recommend it.
Christmas County Wishes by Angela Ford 3 stars.
Dakota is trying to find who she really is after finding out the man she thought was her father was not. Now she is on a mission to find her family. and she hopes that in the process she will find herself. Tristan wants to be with her and make her happy, even if that means giving her space. When they finally get together it is perfect. This stories writing style just didn't do it for me but overall it was a good read.
Overall these were some good stories to get you into the holiday spirit.

Christmas Romance (The Best Christmas Romance of 2016): The Christmas Love List is a sweet, lighthearted, fun collection of connected Christmas stories. Each novella is by a different author but fit well together. Also, each is short so that you could read one when you find a quiet moment during the holiday hustle and bustle. However, since the Vine Grove, Washington stories are loosely tied together it is easy to begin a new novella the next time you find yourself with a few extra minutes, waiting for the kids, etc.

Surprise! You’re a Christmas Bride by Natalie-Nicole Bates is an enjoyable story about misunderstandings and meddlesome friends. Maisey Gates is a new to Vine Grove and wants not part of the Love List Bucket game. Still she leaves with a slip. Bad weather has the local police officer, Sean Marshall, helping home later that evening. I enjoyed this story of two people who have secrets and baggage from the past to deal with as they find true love.

Christmas Kisses and Wishes by Sharon Kleve is a sweet, heartwarming romance, with a bit of dangerous suspense, some lovable pets and the veterinarian, Keaton Vanhorn, we would all want to know. As I read I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be Finn, the female lead with a fairy godmother type of grandmother or if I wanted to be the grandmother who is able to always be there for her granddaughter, with the resources needed at the moment. I liked them both even though one is only known through phone conversations.

A Home For Christmas by Jennifer Conner is a second chance story. Kady, and her son, Noah, move back to Vine Grove with her parents to begin anew. I like the way didn’t cover up the mistakes and regrets but instead showed how the characters learned from them. Coming home may mean finding out that acceptance, a better life and a true love was waiting there all along.

Country Christmas Wishes by Angela Ford is a sweet story of Dakota, a nurse moving to Vine Grove in search of something; family maybe but mostly her own identity. I liked how the family is first one made up of friends such as her landlady, and others in the small town who welcome her so warmly. This story is similar to some of the other in that Tristan in that takes offense with the Love List basket slip. Still this story ends with Dakota’s wishes coming true.

All four novellas will leave you in a feel good mood and a smile on your face.
The publisher gave me an ARC of the book.

Surprise You’re a Christmas Bride by Natalie-Nicole Bates

A wonderful Christmas tale. Maisey Gates meets the man of her dream while walking in a snow storm. But let me go back first. Sean Marshall a widower and police officer picks up Maisey in his squad car walking home from her book club in a snow storm.

The taxi Maisey was riding in broke down so she had no choice it to walk. When she is followed by a car and realizes it is a police car she is apprehensive about taking the ride offered by Sean. She sees he in far from intimidating and accepts the ride. This is the beginning a the draw both feel for each other. Fear on both parts that this is too good to be true almost sabotages the short beginning. A. Dry cute read I would recommend.

Christmas Kisses and Wishes by Sharon Kleve

Finn Dubose is following the wishes of her grandmother and making a journey cross country to find happiness. When Finn finds herself in Vine Grove, Washington wine country she thinks she died and went to heaven. Finn accidentally meets Keaton Vanhorn the local unmarried vetinarian. Dreamboat persona a warm friendly man. Attraction and on both sides what else is left to say. Very cute story.

A Home for Christmas by Jennifer Connor

Kady and her son Noah return to her home town of Vine Grove to live with her parents. Kady has raised her son as a single Mom and when Noah got into trouble she decided to return home to a slower placed life and seek out shelter with her parents. Upon her return she meets an old high school classmate who unbeknownst to her has had a major crush on her. With their friendship renewed and joining the group at Tegan wine shop Que Syrah Syrah love blooms easily.

Christmas Country Wishes by Angela Ford

When Dakota Timmons learns the man who raised her is not her father she is sent into a tail spin. Upon graduation from school she leaves her easy little to go out on her own. During her life journey she learns the true identity of her father and moves to the town where he resides.
Vine Grove, Washington is a small town with friendly people and hopefully the man she believes is her father. Dakota meets and eligible bachelor names Tristan Hart by accident and both sense a strong connection.

This entire series of stories revolved around the Que Syrah Syrah wine shop and their little Lady List game. I enjoyed this light read and would recommend it.

Christmas Romance (The Best Christmas Romance of 2016): The Christmas Love ListChristmas RomanceChristmas Romance (the Best Christmas Romance of 2016): The Christmas Love List Natalie-Nicole Bates Sharon Kleve Jennifer Connor Angela Ford

Reviewed by SFF Dragon*

Four women looking for new starts and four terrific guys who want to give them love and kindness. What more could you want?

I stumbled on authors Sharon Kleve and Jennifer Connor some years ago and loved their books. I've read a lot of them by both authors since then, but I especially love the clean, fairytale romances they write set during the holiday season. It also includes a couple of authors I'm not as familiar with. This boxset of contemporary holiday romances had me hooked and avidly reading from cover to cover. Every story is clean, has kissing, but nothing more. There is no bad language, no cheating, no hot and steamy, or anything else to raise flags, they can be read by all ages and every one has a happily ever after. I loved them.

I do have just one niggle, and I found it in the 2017 edition of 'The Best Christmas Romances of' as well, the books really need to be proof read again by someone who's paying attention and reading every word because they missed an awful lot of mistakes the first time around. But I still rate it at 4 wonderful Christmassy stars.

An important note for Amazon US readers: This review will not appear as a verified purchase on the US site because I bought the book from Amazon UK.

Loved this collection of holiday romances set within Vine Grove. As you experience a new couple’s journey to love, you get to revisit the other characters from each of the stories which just adds depth to all the romances.
Surprise! You’re a Christmas Bride: Maisey meets Sean on a snowy, slippery evening as she tried to walk home. Sean, the ever diligent police officer, offers her a ride home. Would this short encounter in his car lead to something more? Maisey isn’t looking for love, too focused on her booming online wedding blog/business but another chance opportunity has them posing for pictures for a winter wedding. I loved these two characters, each has their own struggles with love so watching them help each other was a true treat.

Christmas Kisses & Wishes: Finn is a writer who is seeking herself. After a divorce, she is spending time around the country looking for a fresh start with her dog. When she ends up in Vine Grove, WA, she meets Keaton, the local vet. Their love of animals brings them together, will Finn be willing to open up for something more? This is a wonderful, sweet holiday romance. The perfect blend to give you a quick escape while dreaming of holiday fantasies.

A Home for Christmas: Kady and her son, Noah, are headed back to Kady’s hometown to start over. Some hardships in California forced Kady to make a tough decision to move in with her parents. Her first night back, Kady crosses paths with Editon, a former classmate. Editon has always had a crush on Kady. This romance is more than just Kady and Editon finding love, it was also about helping Noah forgive himself and allowing him to be open to a new family.

Christmas Country Wishes: Dakota, wow, her back story surprised me and all I wanted for her was to find happiness. Growing up in a family where she felt like she never fit, she learns that she doesn’t, her “Dad” isn’t her biological father. On a quest to find her real father, she ends up in Vine Grove and is almost run over by oh so sexy Tristan. Tristan is captivated by Dakota. As these two slowly build to a relationship, Dakota meets her dad. Will all her wishes come true this Christmas? A truly uplifting romance filled with hope, love and joy.

I have only read one book in this series: Surprise! You’re a Christmas Bride

Natalie-Nicole Bates writes another sweet romance that shows love can come at anytime in someone's life.

Maisey decides for the night and finds a wonderful group of ladies in a book club in the local Wine Shop which she joins. Since the holidays were coming up the ladies were drawing from The Love List to see what eligible bachelors they can take to parties. Maisey decides not to do this, but as she was leaving one of the ladies slipped a note in your pocket with the name of one of the bachelors.

While going home, her taxi breaks down and she is forced to walk home in cold icy rain. Sean, who is a cop sees her and offers her a ride home. Is this fate stepping for the both? As their relationship starts to take off, can Maisey let him know that his name was on the slip of paper and confess about the Love List or hold that information?

Sean has some baggage of his own as his ex-in-laws still want to control him and set him up with a new wife.

Both of them must come together and resolve their issues before moving forward.

I love Natalie-Nicole stories as they are filled with love and hope for the future.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Does anyone remember the anthology television shows from producer Aaron Spelling? The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and (for a much shorter run) Hotel? They featured two or three interlocking tales, all set in the same location, and all featuring a group of common supporting characters.

Spelling would have loved Vine Grove, Washington's Que Syrah Syrah Wine Shop. The young single ladies in town gather there for “book club”, and make no pretenses that they ever talk about books – it's an excuse to taste wine (sometimes to excess), share taste treats, and talk about their lack of love life. That is, until their topic changes to the local single guy who has swept them off their feet.

“Christmas Romance: The Christmas Love List Collection” contains 4 such tales. In Natalie Nicole Bates'“Surprise! You're a Christmas Bride”, new resident Maisey Gates moves her budget bridal web site to town, where she is dared to ask out the young policeman who drove her home. Sharon Kleve's “Christmas Kisses & Wishes” features the 4th and last of Finn Dubose's 3 month temporary residences – trying out different areas of the country to forget about her divorce AND to avoid a stalker who manages to find her at each of her earlier stops.

Troubles in California force Kady and her son, Noah to move back to her girlhood home in Jennifer Conner's “A Home for Christmas”. Finally, Angela Ford “Christmas Country Wishes” tells of Dakota's move to Vine Grove, taking a new job as part of her search for a man – NOT a husband, but one particular man …

Each of these 4 novellas stands alone, but they combine to form a nice overview of a small community. It's not much of a spoiler to state that each of these tales ends with an indication of a “Happy Ever After” - but then, each of these authors knows what their readers will be expecting and each delivers on it in their own unique way.

RATING: 5 stars.

NOTE: I was provided a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Christmas Romance (The Best Christmas Romance of 2016): The Christmas Love List

Christmas Romance is a series of the novellas around Christmas, a time of magic and hope. All the stories revolve around a wine shop called the Que Syrah Syrah in a small town of Vine Grove in Washington State. In each case the women of the shop welcome new people to town and offer them a wine basket with a Love List. None of the women particularly want the list, but magic and fate helps pave the way.

Surprise! You’re a Christmas Bride by Natalie-Nicole Bates... Maisey, a bridal consultant meets Sean Marshall, a widower almost before she understands the town and the Love List.

Christmas Kisses & Wishes by Sharon Kleve... Keaton Vanhorn, a Veterinarian meets Finn Dubose, a new visitor to the town.

A Home for Christmas by Jennifer Conner… Kady and her son, Noah didn’t want to move back to Vine Grove and then she rekindles a friendship with Editon that turns out to be much more.

Country Christmas Wishes by Angela Ford… Tristan Hart and Dakota Timmons are both too busy to find love even though they both want to be in love.

The stories are sweet, thoughtful and just right for a quick lovely romance during the holiday season.

Sweet read for the holiday season. Four holiday romances that will put you in the holiday spirit. I liked the characters as well as the stories. These are fast paced reads, however all of the stories flow really nicely and are not rushed. Entertaining reads.

Enjoyed the very easy read but all a little simplistic

Good intros to the authors and liked the fact they all centred on the one town however a little too "twee" for my liking.
