Can an alpha male alien warrior and a curvy human diplomat prevent an intergalactic disaster?

Riley Harper has been too busy earning her degree in Intergalactic Politics to bother with men. When her new job straight out of college requires her to travel to deep space so that humans can meet with the alien Intergalactic Alliance, she meets General Thabo. The muscular, fire-red Zoran soldier is intriguing, to say the least … but Riley has no intention of her first time being with an alien warrior, no matter how sexy he might be.

For his part, Thabo is not a particular fan of humans, but he can’t get the shapely Ms. Harper out of his mind. When she stands up to some trash-talking aliens on the Alliance’s space-station, he learns she has spirit to go with her luscious curves. He’s more determined than ever to claim her … but first he has to persuade her.

His romantic plans are disrupted when the Alliance station is attacked and humans are blamed. Can he and Riley find out who’s really responsible and avert a galactic war? And will she see past his tough exterior to the man he really is?

Overcoming misconceptions

These aliens have always been a favorite and this series starter is no different. I really enjoyed the characters and how their perspectives changed as the story progressed. And the story was so very interesting, with hidden agendas and bad guys who can invade your mind. The author did a fantastic job of continuing her world and I can’t wait to see what happens next in this off shoot from the original series.

1/5 ⭐

This is Luna Hunter's first book in a new series called Galactic Mates and it is a wonderful read. You will enjoy the interaction between Thabo the alien Zoran General and his soon to be human mate Riley Harper who is a intern on a Diplomatic mission with other members from Earth to ask for admission to the Intergalactic Alliance . It is so funny in parts as Riley who has issues with her looks cannot understand why Thabo, who is such a hot looking fellow with way too many muscles and seven feet tall would want her. They will have to overcome some nasty humans and other aliens who want to take over and rule the Galaxy by starting a war, before they can have their happily ever after. Would love to see what happens with Riley's workmate Michelle to see which alien partner she will choose. Thank you to Luna Hunter for the amazing review copy. Loved It.

Loved how Thabo (H) who was an alien general became a stay-at-home dad and Riley (h) was a diplomat even while pregnant.

Wish the story had more smexy times though.

I've read all eight Galactic Mates books for free and decided to write a combined review about them. They were a quick read. Totally different from what I normally read, and to be honest, if I had to buy them, I would not have done so after the first one. The stories in themselves are quite amusing and despite that it is said you can read each one as a stand-alone, but I don't think you should do so. It's the overall story-line which kept me interested, I wanted to know what was going to happen next with the whole Humanity First & Tyk'ix threat to the peace in the universe. That's what kept me reading despite the many things that annoyed me.

So, what annoyed me? First of all, almost every Zoran Alpha male and Human female, were so interchangeable that it had me almost skipping some parts. Their behavior is the same: brooding, gruff male and sassy, feisty, quick-witted female, who, despite their annoyance towards each-other, almost immediately jump each-other's bones (well, boners). I do get it, mates, fate and stuff, but I guess romance is dead in that universe. Even their physique is quite the same, every Zoran is huge with amazing abs, broad shoulders, bald heads, a gargantuan penis, and startling eyes able to glare the females right out of their panties, it's only the colour of their eyes, skin and penises that vary, and every human female is curvy with a spankable ass. Despite the fixation on those spankable asses the Zorans have, there's not much spanking going on. Only Novak really acted upon it, the rest of the Zorans just brooded, fantasised, just giving an actual occasional slap here and there. All talk… There was a lot of moaning, curling toes, wet lips, swollen clits and perfectly fitting huge cocks, star-filled orgasms and such. When I read the premise of the first book, Thabo, I had no idea it was going to be like that, especially in each and every book. Maybe it is how it was intended, but for me it didn't work. I craved a bit more finesse instead of the corny sex that I got. This is just my opinion, so don't hate me for that. I am happy to see that most readers loved these books, but I just have to warn people about what I experienced and what I missed.

What did I like? The humour, the fact that those big bad Zorans didn't get the jokes the women made; word-games. I liked how the Tyk'ix were portrayed, the threat that radiates from them, the creepiness. I very much liked the suspense, the story behind all the boners and such. I loved the Ypes. I really loved the Ypes.

The odd one out for me was Fenrir. Still a brooding Alpha male, but a Falurian, a dragon shapeshifter. The guy has wings for Pete's sake. He can soar into the sky. Who wouldn't like that!? Abigail was also a bit different from the other heroines. Both of them are just a bit more in-depth characters and there's even more romance. The whole Fated Mate thing is better explained and more believable. Also the other characters in this book are more interesting, much more real, like Nathan and Karlina. Without spoiling anything I want to say that I very much enjoyed how Fenrir and Abigail evolved. Maybe it was that this story was much more Fantasy and the other stories with the Zorans Sci-Fi, maybe it was that there was more romance going on and a bit less boner-jumping, but I quite liked this book. I guess I'm much more a dragon-shifter-swooner than a Zoran-frenzied-madwoman. Hell, who am I kidding. For me it's crystal clear. I'd choose a dragon-shifter and make little semi-dragon-babies with beautiful hair, instead of a Zoran and make semi-Zoran-babies that could stay bald for the rest of their lives, anytime.

I've scored Thabo, Bojan, Novak, Dusan Zivan and Vukan, 2 stars, but it actually should be 1,5 stars. I didn't not like it, so they didn't deserve a 1 star score. I didn't like a lot of what was happening in the forefront, but still liked what was happening in the background. I truly liked Fenrir, so 3 stars it is. Drakan was a neat wrap of the whole story. The action was good. So for that a 3 star score was also deserved.

Sexy and romantic

Riley is a intern for the meanest boss on earth who has decided to get a invitation to become a member of the Intergalactic Alliance. She meets Thabo, a Zoran general, who instantly likes Riley and wants to mate her. At Thabo's request for her to accompany her boss to seek entrance to speak to alliance, she and Thabo uncover a plot to start a war. Sexy and romantic

I liked parts of it, and other parts made me want to bang my head against my Kindle. Or my desk. Or the wall. So, overall, it's a strong 2 stars, but not quite enough to round up (one of the worst bang my head moments was at the end, so I was left with that taste in my mouth instead of something more positive).

Everyone was very... silly, for lack of a better word (even for a sci-fi alien romance). Riley was way underqualified for what she stepped into, and as much as I liked her fight scene and recovery, she was still pretty silly and hot-tempered for a diplomat. Thabo was supposed to be a badass warrior from a planet of badass warriors, and at the end, he turned pretty mushy (as much as I like the apron-wearing househusband scene at the end, it would have been more awesome if he was still pretty badass right to the end).

Speaking of silly scenes. There could have been more flirting. As it was, it went from 0 (silent, lust-filled stares) to 60 ("I love you") really dang quickly. And then when the sexy times do come? "Breed me"?? Blegh. I really don't like the "sex is most awesome because I'm getting pregnant" scenes, especially when it's insta-love. (Yes, lets create an inescapable life-long commitment with this person I've met two weeks ago). But breed me?? Least sexy 'sexy talk' ever. Like I said, bad final taste for the book for me.

Also, "rapport" is not the same as "report". It was used correctly once, then incorrectly a handful of times. Irritating. And bad editing.

I like this Authors writing style and voice, it's sweet, and that is honestly not meant as an insult. There are books that will drag you through an emotional mincer, slicer, dicer, pulveriser and leave you feeling very tender and vulnerable at the end and long after the story is over.

Because reading is like breathing for me, I can't take a break from it, so I have to sooth my emotions with something light, tender and sweet. Luna Hunter writes in a way I can sit back, relax and know that she will take me on a journey into a world that will delight me, at times annoy me, with baddies that anger me but in the end leave me sighing in happy contentment.

This one wasn't for me

I've enjoyed some of her books but it's like hit and miss this was a definite miss. The story was okay the romance was blah it was definitely hard to keep my interest in the story because it was just so bland. Not to mention I had to wait to the very last end to get to the so called good stuff and then when she got there I was rolling my eyes saying you got to be kidding me worse intimate scene ever. When she started hollering "Put your baby in me!" Yeah gag me that's so corny surely you can come up with some better pillow talk then that. Anyways I'm sorry I just can't recommend this one

Quick read to say the least. It was instant lust for Riley, the human female that is never taken seriously in her career. For Thabo on the other hand he is disgusted with humans and believes them to be beneath his kind. However, Riley causes him to think differently and he cannot stand it. There wasn’t a great deal of character development or natural flow to the bond growing between the two of them. It was a quick read that to be honest I can’t really say had a lasting impression on me. It was just like oh.. and it’s over. But still a good world building “prequel” to the rest of the Galactic series.

Thankfully a short read. I really don't know where to start. Outside of appearance I had no sense that he was an alien...same verbiage as a contemporary romance, same colloquialisms, surprisingly emotional and open - certainly more so than human men let alone a vicious warrior. Riley was no heroine. She lost her temper easily and there was absolutely no realism when it came to any 'halls of diplomacy'.

In order for these sci fi fantasies to work, the reader has to identify with something - be it a character, a situation, or even emotion. This story did none of that for me.

Interplanetary diplomacy takes center stage

Thabo doesn't agree with all of the beliefs his father tried to drill into him for years, like all aliens are bad, but he is not as eager to embrace them as King Vinz either. Riley is an intern whose boss is driving her nuts, but every now and then that busy work accidentally pays off.

I love the way Thabo supports those he believes in, and takes on challenges... and how Riley deals with realizing things were not as you thought / hoped. She understands happiness, and love, and in doing so finds true strength.

A great read

Great read. First time author for me and I found the Zorans interesting. This is the story of Riley and Thabo. Thabo is tasked by his King to act as a diplomat and he doesn't like it one bit. He does like Riley though. Filled with action ,treachery and different alien species, I liked this story. Well-written and filled with a giant red skinned alien with orange eyes and a huge cock, what more could a girl want. Lol. 3.5 stars***

The plots thicken and span the universe.

Riley and Thabo are a great team. She keeps getting thrown in over her head and you keep wondering what is up with her boss. The author could have said a bunch more about the two strange men that travel with them, but you are definitely surprised by the plot they have hatched up. So glad that Riley ends up saving them all and she and Thabo get back to earth.

Not much substance

Not for me I’m afraid. Very basic stuff with the usual 7ft alien packing an enormous c*ck and that’s about all there was to recommend him. Sex scene very formulaic and eye-rollingly predictable. Weak plot line with a silly heroine and boring hero who, to be honest, does nothing to earn his badass reputation.

DNF - got to 60% before giving up. This book was so poorly edited. The mistakes were atrocious & they pulled me out of the story. Up to the 60% mark, it was mostly a boring plot that really didn’t lend well to a story, which made it a struggle to keep reading. The characters waffled back & forth to much in their attitudes, it was just to much to even develop any opinions of them.

This was terribly written. I only managed to get through by skimming large chunks of it. The heroine and the alien male were both stupid and naive and were always shocked when something bad happened. He's a general, he should know who and what is on his ship. They both have an inst-love thing going which got really cheesy, really fast.

Riley and Thabo

It was a Ok read for me. What keep nagging at me was the fact that the language was very much contemporary. Not enough time to develop the relationship between the 2 main characters. Even though is a short read I was impatient to get it over with. No plans to finish the series

Really enjoyable romance

The characters start out very average. You know, cranky, over dominant alien, quiet, shy curvy human. So I’m thinking this is gonna be so blasé. I was Joyfully wrong. The characters are transformed into very well rounded, inspiring creatures. It turns into a beautiful romance.

Not bad but not special

Fans of alien insta-lust will probably ignore the thin plot and rushed storyline and enjoy the sexy parts. I would have liked more of the action and intrigue but that's just me.

Instant love!

Riley gets more than she expects when she meets Therbo on her first intergalactic diplomatic mission. The last thing Therbo expects is for his life mate to be human, but once he meets Riley he knows she's the one. Now, he just has to convince her.

Oh boy... I really did want to like this... but there were too many errors in it for me to continue. Sometimes I can squint and ignore them... sometimes I can't. This was one of those times. Gave up at 'report'... which, I believe should've read 'rapport'... twice. Sucks. Big. Hairy. Alien. Balls.
