This book was horrible. I cannot understand why there are so many positive reviews of this. There is almost no story at all. There seems to be no connection between the two main characters other than the author telling you there is. There is no evidence that Chase actually loves Rose. It seems like all he is really after is sex and that is all Rose represents to him. He is very insulting towards her and comes across as if he really hates women. He wants her as an object, not as a person. The entire story seems to be an excuse to write sex scenes. In the first 54% of the book there is one tiny scene showing that Rose doesn't fit in, one flimsy scene where Rose makes up her mind that it is time to leave, and a scene where she tries do to so and Chase stops her and gets the sheriff to marry them on the spot. The rest of it is sex scene after sex scene after sex scene. The plot idea was great, but there is no character development at all. The sex is very crude and very crudely written. In fact, it reads more like the sex scenes I've read in old westerns written for men by men. Other than a plot that is a good idea, there is nothing else positive to say about this book. No way I will even bother with the rest of the books in the series. After I read 54% I started scanning the book and there really is very little story in it at all and the type of sex that is really just an insult to women. Another scene I really dislike is that Rose has a conversation that the seems to equate any women that doesn't marry is just a whore. That being successful and single is NOT a good thing and only suitable for whores who can't get married. I think this is a very bad message.
2.75 Stars for Cowboys & Kisses (audiobook) by Venessa Vale read by Kylie Stewart. The story was ok. It’s kind of short and to the point. And then the last half hour of the audiobook was a repeat of an earlier part of the story. It was kind of disappointing. It didn’t seem to have an ending. It’s not the author’s fault. But I don’t think I’ll waste my time on one of her stories.
Rose Lenox feels trapped on the ranch she grew up on with her seven other adopted sisters. She's more of a tomboy than a lady and wants nothing more than to run her own cattle ranch someday. When her friend and neighbor Chance Goodman agrees that she doesn't really belong there on her ranch Rose takes it that he means she should leave so she heads off on her own to town.
Chance has watched Rose grow up and has been in love with her for years. When he finds Rose has left he follows and finds her already in trouble in town. Chance immediately rescues Rose then take her to the sheriff to get the two of them married off so she will become his but will he be able to tame Rose's wild ways?
Vanessa Vale really does erotica very well. There were sparks, there was steam and a whole lot of sexy action between Chance and Rose after their impromptu marriage. The historical aspect was also very pleasant to read and a bit more detail to the story than I actually expected with it jumping right into the erotic side.
However, I did often find myself wondering if the erotic and the historical quite meshed together well enough. I think each on their own would have been great but I would often forget that I was reading a historical tale when the sexual parts were taking place and somewhat vice versa.
Overall, I'd have to give this one 3.5 stars think most fans of erotica should enjoy this one.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Rose is the first in the new historical Western erotic series “The Wildflowers of Montana” by Vanessa Vale. I can always count on Ms. Vale for a quick and extremely sexy read.
Rose Lenox is one of eight orphans adopted and moved to Montana by two sisters from Chicago after the Great Fire. Rose is the tomboy of the eight and wants to break free of her sisters and start her own ranch, but her neighbor, Chance Goodman has other plans for her. It is wonderful how Chance sees Rose for the spirited and independent person she is, while also knowing he has to get her to understand that there is great danger in her rashness at times. He needs to tame her, but not cage her.
A fun plot in a short amount of pages. Characters that pull you into the story. Extremely hot and explicit sex scenes that are graphic. I am looking forward to the other sisters exploits.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review, but I also purchased a copy so that I can own the whole series.
Synopsis: Rose Lenox has grown up to be more comfortable on the back of a horse than wearing ribbons and bows like her seven adopted sisters. For years working the land was enough, but lately Rose finds herself wishing for something different. She wants her own ranch and freedom from her overwhelming and unorthodox family. Rose is determined to strike out on her own and forge her own path.
Lenox neighbor, Chance Goodman, has watched Rose grow from a spitfire of a girl to a beautiful and fiery woman. For years he's waited patiently and watched her struggle to find her place in the world. When she leaves the Lenox ranch alone, determined to abandon her former life and to say good-bye to him, he knows the time has come to claim her. Letting her walk away isn't an option. Chance knows exactly what she needs...and he's going to give it to her. Follow the eight Lenox sisters through this historical erotic series that's as big and bold as the Montana Sky. The Wildflowers of Montana begins with Rose and her hot, Alpha cowboy. Review: Rose Lennox is a stubborn headstrong country beauty who wants more than ribbons and lace. She wants her own ranch and to work the land like the men do. She finally gets the courage to follow her dream and leaves the Lennox ranch and her adoptive family. Chase Goodman is the sexy ranch owner next to the Lennox spread. He wants nothing more than to make Rose his in every way. When he finds out that she left alone he follows her, rescues her and made her his wife. This book was hot and steamy with a little adventure thrown in for good measure. If you're looking for your next alpha BBF who isn't afraid to spank you straight then this is the book for you. 4 stars****
H has waited for the young h to be old enough for him. The h leaves home, believes she's ready to find her own way. The H makes his move and claims her. She still very immature, acts wilfully and risks both their lives. It's erotica, with a good plot and interesting backstory. Loved how the H was absolutely mad for her.
Cowboys & Kisses was just OK. I mainly hated how one dimensional both characters were and they both lacked real chemistry. I don't even know why they're in love with each other lol. If you're looking for a quick smutty read that is classic Vanessa Vale, give this a try.
I didn’t like this book at all. I found it to be a waste of time. The book was very short and only took a couple of hours to read. It started out promising but went downhill fast. The book was all about explicit sex and more explicit sex. It seemed like the author wrote the sex scenes and tried to write a story around them instead of writing a book with sex in it.
Another problem was this book was set in the horse and buggy days but the characters spoke and behaved as if it was yesterday. The story was very unrealistic. On two different occasions the husband thought his wife needed a spanking. Both times it came off as fake and something you would read on a trashy website instead of something that could have actually happened in that time period.
This was an enjoyable book. A nice quick hot read. I love the relationship between Rose and Chance. She was a little firecracker and he was the right one to tame her. Rose meant well but sometimes she can go off the handle and do something she shouldn't. Chance has been waiting for Rose for a while now but needed her to grow up a bit. His time has come to claim and tame her. Will she be a willing conquest? How does she feel about Chance?
There was some hot action throughout the book as well some discipline that included spanking. This was a quick read that held my interest and made me want to keep turning the pages. I definitely would read more by this author.
First book by this author and I have to say... This was a fun read. From other reviews I was on the fence thinking this would be way more sex than I would want but the story itself was enjoyable. If your a fan of Alexa Riley or CM Steele then I think you would enjoy this author. There were a few mistakes but nothing that took away from the story and I would have enjoyed a little more character development but I still liked it
Wow, what an excellent beginning to a new series that will take us on a journey with a household of orphaned girls, all named after flowers. I loved the story, the interaction between the two main characters, Chance, and Rose.
This story holds just enough mystery, suspense and romance to keep the pages turning. The plot held me captive with some nice twists and turns. The dialog was witty and heartwarming.
Chance is an alpha male but doesn't try to squelch the feisty, fiery side of Rose; it's part of what he finds enduring about her. Instead, he lassoes her and enjoys the ride. These two have their share of angst, but also a steamy passion that sizzled the pages when they come together. I look forward to more in this series and being a fan of Ms. Vale's work; I know we are in for a wild ride!
Sexy story with Chance and Rose. I enjoyed reading this, but there were lots of sexual activity between this pair. Although, this author always gets the very graphic sex scenes just right. I'm hoping book 2 will not be the same scenario. 4☆
I haven't read many historical western romance stories, but while the sex factor was definitely hot I had some issues with the main characters. Rose desires independance, to find her place in the world and Chance realizes this and "knows" her place is by his side. Unfortunately, the message the book gave me was that her place was not by his side but one step behind him. She took care of her adoptive mothers' farm, but after marriage she's reduced to being just the housewife. It might be normal for the time period, but I was very dissapointed with Chance's behaviour towards Rose. For more romance reviews, check out my website:https://katherinasbooks.wordpress.com
I read it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down! The Hero was a perfect alpha male; jealous, possessive, sweet and only had eyes for the h. I loved it. 100% safe read.
In Rose: Her Secret Desires the young woman, Rose dreams of leaving her comfortable home and finding a ranch in Montana of her own with less than $100 to her name. Chance Gordon, her handsome neighbor has other ideas for her and comes to her rescue the first night she leaves home.
The two characters are underdeveloped, the plot is mostly about how Chance introduces Rose to the intimate part of being a bride. She is rebellious and gets into dangerous situations, he rescues her, punishes her and then back to to personal relations in graphic detail. If you are looking for a hot sexy story this is it, but if you want a historical fiction with a good plot this one is underdeveloped.
This story was about Rose and Chance's love story. Rose as always been feisty and independent, and she always had a dream to own her own ranch. She tried running away but ran into Chance instead. After that they got married and she continued to be fiesty. It took a almost fatal incident to get both Chance and Rose to realize what kind of love they share.

In between all the erotic sex scenes, there is a glimpse of a love story between Chance and Rose. I like some steamy activities in a story, but not where it’s the main content. I decided it wasn’t worth my time to continue with this series, as I am sure each one of girls’ tales would follow the same pattern as this book.
Rose was an orphan and grew up in Montana, and preferred riding to ribbons. Chance lived on the neighboring ranch and had fallen for Rose and now that she was all grown up, he wanted her to be his. What will Rose say on this matter? Fast-paced steamy read with plenty of drama. Rose could be a bit much but the story hot and entertaining. I liked it.
One of my favorite sub-genres in romance is western historicals, so when I received an offer to read the first book in the Wildflowers of Montana series, Rose, in exchange for an honest review, I eagerly accepted. The book is a delightful read, and I liked Rose and Chance a great deal.
When Rose strikes out on her own, Chance follows her to town, determined to rein her in. When he rescues her from a drunken cowboy who has mistaken her for a lady of the night, he realizes it’s time to take her as his bride if he’s going to be able to keep the little spitfire out of trouble. But, can he possibly tame her before she ends up getting hurt?
Rose’s character is not your average young woman in pioneer times. She likes to ride her horse, wear pants and roam free. She is a delightful character, and I found myself laughing often at her antics. At times, she’s her own worst enemy because her fearlessness lands her in trouble. Thank goodness Chance followed her and saved her before anything truly bad could happen to her.
Chance’s character is a take charge kind of man, and he knows what he wants and it’s Rose. He is determined to keep her safe no matter what, and he does. I loved how protective he is of her. He’s a strong, determined man, and oh, yeah, he’s sexy and not afraid to teach Rose a lesson for her hoyden ways!
Rose is definitely not your typical western historical romance. While this tale is pure erotica, this book has a lot more plot than you normally find in erotica and the pacing is very good. The reason I read is to be entertained, and I found this book very entertaining from the first page to the last.
If enjoy a rousing good sexual romp, with a good bit of action mixed in, then you will love Rose. I have the next book in this series, and I look forward to reading it as well. I’m sure I will find Hyacinth as enjoyable as I did Rose. Happy reading!
Rose is the first in a new erotic Western series by Vanessa Vale following the eight adopted sisters of the Lenox ranch.
Rose is impetuous and headstrong. Unlike her sisters, she isn’t into lace and ribbons. Rose would rather don a pair of pants and get stuck in with the men. Feeling uncomfortable in her own skin and having outgrown her surroundings; she yearns to leave and run her own ranch. Is this just an impossible dream?
Confiding her feelings in Chance Goodman, owner of the neighbouring ranch, she makes an ill-fated decision. Unbeknownst to Rose, Chance has just been biding his time to claim Rose and her decision has given him the perfect opportunity to claim her:
“You’re mine, Rose. Always have been.”
I loved the *coughs* inter-play between Chance and Rose as he tries to corral her wild spirit, but Rose is not a woman to be reasoned with. Her decisions putting them both in peril. I was so engrossed wondering how it would all play out and I breathed a sigh of relief when Rose realised what was right in front of her the entire time as she says:
“I need you. I need you so much.”
The smexy scenes are way HOT as I’ve come to expect from Ms Vale. I love the worlds she creates and always get swept away with her storytelling.
I can’t wait to read more about the girls of the Lenox ranch and the men who win their hearts.

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review** I recommend this book to all readers who like me prefer their erotica reads steamy hot but well-written and enjoyable. Aside from a very few typos that didn’t damper my experience at all, I’d say this is one of the best erotica texts I’ve read in a long while. However, I’m betting these typos won’t make their way to the final version of the book since I read an Advanced Review Copy. I don’t like giving spoilers so I won’t say much about the plot. Yes guys there’s a plot in this story. All good erotica books do. And this is an excellent one. The main couple is well fleshed out: Chance is hot as sin while Rose is strong-willed and the supportive characters contribute to give more depth to the storyline. As the introductory story in a series, this book presents the sisters’ background story and introduces all of them briefly however, the author cleverly shifts the attention slightly to the couple who is featured in the second book giving us a glimpse enticing enough to make us want more. Kudos!

:) well, It's kinda interresting. if you like, some alpha male super dominant and a little female who has some dificulty in becaming into submission, this is a good story. with a quick pace you get into the story in short time.
Rose and Chance are friends since they were a little children, well more when she was a little child. but Rose became elder and she wants some freedom, follow her dreams.... and Chance wants her!
With some hot scenes, with some funny, and above all, there are some emotional others that connect everything. A good start of a serie..... let's check the others! :)
I loved the hero and how he went after what he wanted, using seduction and mind blowing sex to win over the heroine.
I hated how, once again, a female character has more boobs than brains, taking off after the hero into a dangerous situation, simply because the hero told her not to and because she thought she knew better than he did.
Come on. Can we get some commonsense heroines?
Besides that irksome issue, I enjoyed the book and will be reading the rest in the series.
My complete discussion on this book: https://taquandataylor.wordpress.com/... A long standing crush. A quick marriage. Endless sex. A disobedient wife. Punishment. That about sums up this book and many like it.
This was a hotter than hot, quick western romance that I thoroughly enjoyed! I couldn't help but love Rose and Chance. Their story is all about loving who you are, and finding that one person who makes your life even better!
Rose has had a very interesting life. Orphaned by the Great Chicago Fire, raised in a house full of girls by two former Madames, she knows who she is and what she wants. She just isn't sure how to go about getting it! She isn't your typical girly girl, but would rather be working on the ranch. She doesn't think that a "normal" life is for her, but the one she has seems to be closing in on her. She wants more. And when she tries to get it for herself, she gets more than she bargains for!
Chase is a typical man. Strong, stubborn, knows what he wants and has the determination to get it! This time, he has to not only take what he wants, but he also has to make sure she gets what she wants too! The are both in for an adventure!
This story was a republish of an earlier work by this author. Although I didn't read the earlier series, I have read quite a few books by this author. As I expected, this book was explosive and the characters were perfect for each other, despite initial thoughts otherwise! It was fun, quick, and dirty! Everything I look for when I pick up one of the books by this author! Absolutely perfect!
Vanessa Vale can always be counted on for well written and fast paced romances. Hot, quick and dirty in the very best ways, you can’t go wrong with any of her books.
The chemistry between the main characters is off the charts hot! The passion and emotion of the characters suck you right into the story and makes it very hard to put it down until the end. The female character is feisty, strong and very stubborn, and she is not willing to settle for anything less than what she wants out of life - no matter what she has to do. The male character is sexy, dominant, sometimes patient and very caring - even when he has to blister her butt for her own good!. The sex scenes are well written and HOT. Well worth the read, Vanessa Vale and her sexy cowboys will never disappoint you.
I received this book free from the author for my honest review. Since I rely heavily on reviews to make decisions about purchases, I will never lie or over exaggerate my opinion. There is nothing worse than seeing a bunch of 5 star reviews and realizing the book is full of errors or just plain bad and not worth my hard earned money!
