Get Rocked? The Next Generation Series #2

Being a seven-year-old child of poverty and living with a single mother, not to mention being terminally ill, would be a challenge for anyone. Caleb McCormack grew up not knowing who his father was. His mother never talked about him, until he became so ill that he needed a kidney transplant. That’s when his world was turned upside down.

Caleb was thrust into a new world full of wealth and status. A life he never knew existed, one he had only dreamed of. Caleb’s father was not only rich, but incredibly famous. So famous, that all the world knew his name. Caleb is the love child of Huxley Slade, the backing guitarist for the world’s most famous rock band Slayed.

Fast forward through a changed life. Hux and Caleb’s mother reconnected and married, giving Caleb a new life full of endless possibilities. But through it all was his one constant. Indi Malone. She was with him from the beginning, from rags to riches as it were and their love would know no bounds or so you would think?

Indi’s past is a harrowing ordeal in itself, and when Caleb forms his own band Staked and is thrust into the spotlight, will her past demons haunt their love forever? Or will they make it through the inferno and into their happy ever after?

Another great read from the Next Generation

This is the story of caleb & Indi

A Childhood to adulthood love story told in dual povs but mainly Caleb's

Although a rock star read the plot mainly focuses on the personal trials and tribulation of each character the heartache and dramas that comes with a coming of age story and in the mix handling stardome and crazy fans.

Its surprisingly very similar to Rock solid if Aston would of told his side in that story these two plots would be too much alike as nothing much is new or different except these are different characters with their own hangups, insecurities and angst in their relationship. That being said if you loved Rock solid then you will also love this.

Loved caleb's character he's a bbf, sweet and caring and K.E Osborn, as always with her brilliant writing enables you to feel the hurt and heartache each character goes through as well as the elation when they hit a high.

Its a great series with great characters and a recommended read, if you love a friends to lovers read or childhood to adulthood love story, a coming of age with hotness thrown in then this is for you.

*** Gifted in exchange for an honest review***

I prefer the original series about the SLAYED band but I was eager to read this book because I thought that with Caleb being the eldest 'Kid' of the SLAYED Band members, it may prove to be more 'Adult' and less whiny, but I did not gel with this story, I did carry on till the end but unlike others who have read and reviewed, it just didn't grab me.

So Caleb was a character I felt was an unfortunate victim in the story line of the first series, I felt more connected to him probably due to this, how could you not feel for a kid with kidney failure and the rough start he had for the first 7 years of his life. ( One point I found annoying was why after kidney failure as a child the author thought it ok for the grown up Caleb to drink heavily? I think thats probably the one thing they reiterate to kidney transplant patients - its a gift not to be abused!)

Indica Malone was his friend from the start, her deadbeat parents meant that she spent as much time as she could with Caleb and his mum. Then they still manage to keep friends when his mum and dad Hux get together.

I was happy for the first part of the book, as Caleb and Indica were children and their friendship grew, right into their teenage years, but the tragedy that happens with Indi's parents was where it went downhill for me.

Oh I have no doubt that it was tragic and that it would affect not only Indi but Caleb as well but it just felt so contrived - I don't want to say what happens as this is my personal feeling and others will read the book and feel it, so I will just leave it at that. I think maybe if there had been more substance written to the way Indi dealt with her parents death it would have connected with her character more.

I did not feel that any of this book really touched on the subject of depression, I have read books where you really felt the pain and devastation the characters where dealing with, but its glossed over and Indi moves in with Calebs family.

Now how Indi reacts when Caleb professes his love was very similar to Annie in book 1 and I am afraid I did roll my eyes a bit, and then she ran. Her self-doubt and lack of trust for Caleb (who has never shown any reason before in their long time together) causes her to push him away.

For ages Caleb searches for indi, never giving up, but in the end he turns into the archetypal Rock star Man whore and with this happening when their Band Staked is getting started, but underneath the hurt and pain is inside.

There is a break of 6 years before Annie's drunken episode at her 17th birthday causes Caleb to run into Indi again, I so hoped that this would be the start to their happy ever after.

But of course This is a Rock Star book, it can't be a bed of roses... there have to be some crazy stalker fans to throw a spanner or three into the mix.

Again I feel some of the situations in this book could have been tightened up, but it may have been as with Arc's they tend to be sent out before the final is completed.

In the end Indi finally grows a backbone and Caleb finally is given a chance to make amends. And the book concludes in the same timeline of the first book, followed by an epilogue.

Ella and Chad are the final band members who will get a book, and although something in the epilogue made me wonder what happens, I don't think I will sign up to review, there are plenty of reviewers who have liked this series so far, but I think I prefer my Rock Stars to be a bit older. ( I am a real fan of YA books so I am unsure why I can't gel with this series)

The characters would probably appeal to Young Adult readers as they are more their age, but unfortunately there are far too many sex scenes for it to be classed as such.

in ending I will say that I actually found some parts very sweet, and especially in the final chapters ( I can't say what scene as it would be too much of a spoiler, but it involves a place that is in Scotland thats very popular with people in love)

This is Caleb and Indi in all their glory and their story is as tough as you could possibly imagine.
Indi’s childhood as a less than stellar affair, her parents were nothing more than youngsters themselves, they were ill prepared to be parents and as a result she spent much of her time around Caleb and his family.
When events overtake all of them, she is left with limited options and being left on her own, she takes the momentous decision to move in with Caleb and his family. This solidified the relationship that they had already established and from that day forward they were practically joined at the hip.
Life through the years for the two of them is good, but their connection is difficult to quantify. The feelings that they have morph into more than they would have possibly imagined but Indi was a worrier, she knew how she felt but she was concerned that Caleb didn’t feel the same, or of he did it wouldn’t be enough.
I have an issue with this self-doubt because I didn’t see how the situation between warranted her feeling this way but maybe that is just me. I think it said more about how she felt about herself rather than how she felt about Caleb– but I understood that the naivety of youth was what was pushing all her buttons. Her feelings had her running scared, and as such she did what was expected, she ran.
I was devastated for Caleb, she broke his heart. He struggled to comprehend why she had taken off but he refused to give up. She had been a huge part of his life for so long that living it without her in it, was soul destroying.
He tried incessantly, week in week out to reach out to her, to track her down and win her back but all to no avail and years later despite all his attempts he was still without her. Questioning what the hell when wrong had him second guessing himself to some extent and left him understandably reluctant to commit.
Indi took his heart with him the day she left, it is not his to give away anymore, so living in a vacuous state, Caleb is the very embodiment of manwhore, meaningless one night stands are order of the day, but none of them are able to stem the hurt that flow through his veins, the pain that he feels each and every day.
But after six long hard years, circumstance has them thrown back together and while the reunion resolves the issue of distance, there is still so much more that lies between these two, all the pain and insecurities are so much more than can be swept aside.
I had everything crossed for these two, I hoped that given enough time and understanding they would be able to find a way back to each other and a way for them to give me what I needed – them together!
But I hadn’t bargained on the maliciousness that was Ashley- what a bitch!
She really was a thorn in their side and her meddling as at times was more than I could cope with, so my heart went out to the two of them for what she was putting them through, she was enough to test the patience of a saint and in their vulnerable state they just didn’t seem strong enough to handle her.
Caleb was left with a decision to make, one that was going to break his heart again but isn’t it always said that if you love someone set them free, if it is meant to be they will come back to you – so letting her go and giving her enough opportunity to return might just be what he had to do.
He loved her without reproach and I have to say that I was distraught for him, he had suffered so much for so long, and I wanted him to get his girl.
I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!!

This is the welcome return of the next instalment of The Next Generation Series. The story revolves around Caleb McCormack-Slade, lead singer of Staked and his childhood friend, Indica Malone, but we can call her Indi. The story takes us back to the beginning when Celeb was seven years old and in desperate need of a kidney transplant. His mother had taken him to meet his father, but that hadn't turned out quite as she had hoped. His father, rock star Colt Slade, turned out to be his uncle and this is where his story begins.

Indi had spent most of her time with Caleb as home life with her parents had left a lot to be desired. Her mother and father had had her at an early age and were unable to cope with life as we know it. Indi had gone through a traumatic experience with them both which ended with life changing consequences for her, Caleb, and his family. Being left on her own, Indi moved in with Caleb and his parents, and the two became inseparable. Throughout the years, the feelings between them grew into an affectionate relationship but Indi was scared of having more with him. Her biggest worry was whether he'd be able to stay faithful and committed to her or not. She did the only thing she felt she could do, she ran leaving him devastated.

Throughout the years, six to be exact, not a week went by where Caleb didn't try and get in contact with Indi, but to no avail. Caleb is unsure of where it all went wrong. He still loves her but the pain of losing her leads him to using other women to ease his pain. Even though an unexpected occurrence sees them reunited, the insecurities are still there.

Yet again obstacles get in the way of them being together and in this case, in the shapely form of a not such a nice lady called Ashley who sets out to make more mischief than either one can cope with. Thus, the consequences leave them both completely devastated. Caleb and Indi were meant to be together. The angst they felt tore at my heartstrings. Would giving her the space she obviously needed help? He had to try. This was a true love story that I wanted to see have a happy ending, but Indi is so very vulnerable and Caleb with a tender heart and sensitive soul made me wonder if it was possible. Will true love prevail for them? I hope so.

I really enjoyed this latest instalment of this series. I'm beginning to remember who is who and whose child this is without having to refer to the index. I'm gradually being introduced to each character throughout this series and finding it very interesting. The story captivated me and the words flowed well. In a nutshell, I didn't want this book to end. Congratulations K E Osborn. A well deserved 5 Rocking stars.

There isn't a book that K.E. Osborn has written or could write that I wouldn't absolutely LOVE! She simply can't write quickly enough to feed my serious addiction. Her rocker books are on my top list of favorites, and I have read them more than once. That being said, I LOVED LOVED LOVED Get Rocked?!

Caleb McCormack spent half his childhood in poverty, and not knowing who his father was, as his mother never spoke of him. When Caleb gets very sick, and needs a kidney transplant, that all changes. All of a sudden, he's the love child of Huxley Slade, the backing guitarist in the world famous and rich band Slayed. His life is now filled with endless possibilities when his parents get married. Indi Malone has been there for Caleb since they were little. Even though her past was terrible, she still loved Caleb with all of her heart. But when Caleb forms his own band Staked, her demons take over and she runs. Caleb never forgot her though, and when they come face to face years later, he vows to never let her go again. Will Indi finally put her demons to rest and let Caleb in, or will she let them haunt her forever?

WOW! Caleb's story was freakin AMAZING! K.E. Osborn was spot on, as usual, with her character development that happens over time. It makes me completely invested in them. In fact, every character in this book are so full of life, that I can't even label them as secondary. Her talent for writing an emotional ride of epic proportions in her story, is out of this world amazing! The dual POV rocks, the story flows effortlessly, explosively HOT love scenes, AND I'm still getting my Slayed fix. Another EPIC book by K.E. Osborn, and CANNOT WAIT for more books in this series!

Another fantastic story from KE Osborn. It has all the things we come to expect from her books, realism, heartbreak, family and a great love. Get Rocked? is a perfect fit for the Next Generation Series.

We had met Caleb as a small boy in the Rock God series and my heart broke for him when Caleb's whole world was torn from him. Now 20 years later he is the lead singer of Staked the next generation group of the kids of Slayed. Caleb is older then the rest so the responsibility of the group falls on him. Meanwhile his heart is breaking his best friend and 1 true love left him 6 years before and he has no idea why. Then one night after needing to take his cousin to the emergency room the love of his life walks in and his whole world shifts again.

Indi has gone through so much pain in her life and she felt Caleb would be the one to save her. After what she thinks is the ultimate betrayal 6 years ago she left Caleb and did not look back until Caleb walks back into her life.

One of the hardest things to do as a writer is to write continuity and KE does so brilliantly. This book follows the same timeline as Rock Solid and its done perfectly. Its great to see the family from Caleb's POV. He is cocky, young and arrogant in the beginning but the way he grows over the course of the book was written so well. Indi's pain is real and how she reacts to situations is painful to watch but her growth and self realization throughout the book was fantastic. It was great to revisit the characters we have come to love and I am looking forward to the last book in the series.

Review of Get Rocked? (The Next Generation #2) by K.E. Osborn

Review done for Hooked on Books

4 ½ out of 5 stars

Indi Malone doesn’t believe in love. She saw what marriage did to her parents and she does not want to end up like them. Whenever Indi had problems at home, she would escape to the arms of her friend Caleb.

Caleb McCormack has had an incredibly crazy life. He had kidney problems when he was younger, requiring a transplant. Then he met Colt, who everyone thought was his dad (turns out it was actually Colt’s brother Hux who was indeed Caleb’s dad), and ended up smack dab in the middle of a rock stars life. Hux and Colt are members of the world famous group Slayed.

Now Caleb and his cousins have their own rock band Staked. Their band is awesome except that he doesn’t have his best friend and first love, Indi, to share it with. When Indi left without a goodbye six years ago, Caleb’s heart was broken.

A chance meeting puts Indi and Caleb face to face again. Caleb is not going to let her go again. Unfortunately Indi is too broken from her past and she doesn’t know if she can let herself trust Caleb again.

I really loved K.E. Osborn Rock series. The Next Generation is just as good as the original series. This book was fast paced and had lots of intense moments and angst. I couldn’t put it down.

I definitely recommend this book but you need to read book 1 first. Both books are fantastic!

Warning: The following items must be at hand when reading this book: Wine, Tissues and Ice cream.

Caleb is Hux Slade's son, and being a Slade he had the Rock God's gene running in his veins. What makes him not only a gorgeous rocker, but a warm hearted, loving guy is how he loves with so much intensity and the only girl that has had his intense love since his teenage years is Indi Malone his best friend and love of his life.

Indica "Indi" Malone had a harsh childhood and the only reason she survived it was Caleb McCormick-Slade her best friend and the love of her life. But thanks to her parents she will grow up with trust issues that will hurt her relationship with Caleb.

This two soul-mates will learn the hard way to maintain their love alive but sometimes love is not enough. Can this two prove that love will conquer everything?

Holy Mother of all books!!! If you are following this new series and thought Annie and Aston story was intense well you have another thing coming.

Caleb and Indi's love story will take you to an intense and emotional journey and you will fall in love with this two lovable and passionate characters. If you have not read this series I recommend this to you, believe me when I said you will not be disappointed.

This is the second book in the Next Generation series and although you don't need to read the first book in the series, it is recommended at sometime you read the first book to get the full story of this and the mystery from the first book that is now described in this book. I loved that this was told in alternating POV as we got a better feel of what both characters went through in this story.

Caleb is the lead singer of Staked and Indi is his BF and they spent years apart until fate leads them a few times together. Indi wasted a lot of years by not hearing out Caleb each time. They have an emotional roller coaster in their relationship. I totally did not expect this story and how they were in a relationship for a few years without anyone knowing especially the papos'. This is the mystery of Caleb from the first book that gets filled in this story.

Again the author did a great job of informing us of the characters in this book and the different meaning of words used in UK versus the US. This book was so good and you get to see more of all these secondary characters as well, which is great.

This series just keeps getting better! I am in love with Caleb and Indi! The emotions in this story will have you at every end of the spectrum. There is some humor that will have you laughing so hard! But then, the love story will have you in tears it is so beautiful. These two characters have a story that spans years. There are a few drama elements that keep the story flowing. These two have a love that time will not destroy. The author did an amazing job with all the description and depth that went into this story. I love that it overlaps Aston and Annie’s story and we get to see Caleb’s POV of what was happening in their story. Of course that meant that some things from their story were repeated, but it didn’t have that feeling coming from a new POV. I love the interactions between Caleb and the adults. Caleb still harbors a little resentment from things that happened when he was little. It was good to see him get all of that worked out. I am excited to see where the series will go next!

Another winner by KE Osborn. Get Rocked is the second in The Next Generation Series. This book is Caleb's story starting from when he first met Colter Slade and his reaction to finding out Colt was not his father.

The story then moves on and tells of his friendship with Indi and how that relationship is forged and formed through the adversities thrown at them.

Caleb's story is one of pushing boundaries, and forming his band Staked. Indi's story is of a terrible past, and of a girl who doesn't trust anyone around her. All the time Caleb's one love is Indi, but Indi doesn't trust herself enough to form a close loving attachment with Caleb.

I really loved this story, Caleb and Indi's story is a tough one for both of them. Will they eventually find love with each other?

Caleb and Indi have know each other since they were in school together and have been through so much. After a misunderstanding Indi leaves Caleb with no forwarding address.

After 6 years they have a chance meeting that brings them back together again. There is more flighty behavior and denials.

After more time apart they finally work on their relationship and how they can be together with their careers which leads them to be apart for periods of time. Caleb is a star and Indi wants her normality. Will it work?

KE Osborn has written another great book in the next generation of Rock Stars.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review - naughty book eden

K.E.Osborn rocks out again with this next installment of the series. As with all rocker books, there is sex, drugs and of course rock and roll, the thing that sets this author apart is her ability to creat vivid pictures in the mind of her readers. The talent to make the reader care about what happens to her fictional characters.
Caleb and Indi have an amazing story to tell and this is certainly on my MUST READ recommendation list.
Congratulations K.E.Osborn on yet another smashingly good book.

Another awesome read by K.E. Osborn. I really enjoyed getting to know Caleb and Indi better. I really looked catching up and seeing what happened after Get Your Rocks Off?. The feels were all here just like in Rock Solid?. I laughed, cried, got pissed, was heartbroken, and swoony.

K.E. Has done amazing job with this continuation of The Next Generation. I'm really enjoying this spinoff series much to my surprise. I'm onto Ella's story now.

Loved it!

Ooooo this was good. I absolutely love Caleb, he is definitely a rock God! His and Indi's story is sweet and sexy. Growing up together they've loved each other forever. Separating for six years and finding each other again they realize they can't live apart. If only they can get over their issues.
This is really a good book, I enjoyed it much better than the first one in this series and can't wait to read the next one. I love this authors writing and adore her stories.

Caleb and India story was my favorite of the 3 books. Caleb was the oldest of the band Staked. He is the son of Hux. Indi was his best friend from childhood. Their story was one of love, misunderstanding and trust. These two go through so much. This is a must read.
