Rate this book
Sometimes the road to happily ever after takes a few wrong turns...

Kate Daniels couldn't be more excited to be planning her best friend's wedding...in theory. Lately, just thinking about gowns and centerpieces makes her want to hide under the covers with her dog and a good book --one that doesn't include a romantic plot, thank you very much. Maybe it's because her fiancé cheated. Or maybe it's because he cheated with her younger sister, Charlotte. Or maybe it's because her newfound reputation as jilted wedding planner isn't exactly doing wonders for her career.

Charlotte knows she messed up. Big time. But she also knows something Kate doesn't-something that might bring them close again, if her sister will ever take her calls. But as time passes and silence grows, Charlotte begins to realize she can't hide from her problems forever, and that sometimes the only place to run is home.

With the wedding only a week away, Kate expects a few surprises. But what she doesn't expect is to find herself believing...in the strength of family, and the possibility of finding love again.

Kate is planning her best friend's wedding and she wants it to be perfect. Kate's life hasn't been a bed of roses-she's working hard, but her boss still has some sort of grudge against her and when she was planning her own wedding, she was jilted by her fiancee, who cheated on her with her own sister. Time has passed, but her sister's betrayal still hurts and it doesn't help that people in the town are trying not to upset Kate, when the weddings topic comes up. Kate is trying to show that everything is under control, but sometimes some things take time to heal. When things seem to get better, Kate's life becomes messy again- her sister starts to search contact with her and the workaholic best man gives her a headache, even though there's an attraction between them.

It was a sweet and engaging story about love, betrayal, misunderstandings, devotion and friendship. I found the characters well developed and the story well written, I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to read the next book in the series.

This book did nothing for me. I thought at first that I was enjoying this book although, it did not a bit to warm up to the characters but then I realized that I never really found my groove with the story or the characters. In fact, not by purpose (in the beginning) but I stopped reading at the half way mark. As time passed I found my desire to go back to the book lessen. To be honest, I can't remember what happened in the first half of the story.

I adored the last Olivia Miles series I read, so picking up One Week To The Wedding was a no brainer.

This is the first in the Misty Point series, and more of a cross to women's fiction than romance - though there is still plenty of romance, I mean, there is a wedding in the title!

I adored Kate from the start. Through all her hurt, she is doing everything to give her best friend the most amazing wedding, even though it is killing her slowly on the inside. It really is a kind of Hell Week for her, but she battles on with a smile.

Alec - well, even though he is a bit of an ar$e he is a loveable arse.

I love the spark between our lovelies, the bit and snark that they bring out in each other. There is a love/hate kinda thing going on there, which makes for all kinds of heat.

There is sort of 2 parts to this story, there is Kate and Alec, then there is Kate's sister Charlotte. She plays such a big part in the making of the Kate of today, and while I should hate her, I kind of couldn't.

I laughed, I cried, I smiled whilst reading One Week To The Wedding.

Now I am impatiently waiting for what Ms Miles brings us next.

Love Alec. He was going through a lot and seeing him work through things and forge his own path at the end was great. He began as a workaholic who was trying to please his dad but came out as himself or the beginnings of himself. He gives off wrong impressions due to his drive to get his brother back in his life. He misses him but as the story progresses we see who he is. He is smart, funny, sweet and kind. He learns about his brother William as well and they get closer. He also learns what he wants and falls in love.

Kate had a harder time with. She was driven and smart. Even kind but her attitude drove me batty. She hid behind the pain of what Jake the snake did to her. She felt there was only one side to everything and once she knew it that was it. I didn’t like her boss and was glad to see her in the end gain enough confidence in herself to walk away from that toxic situation. Alec is the one who helps her there. He shows her that she is a amazing person. He also gets her to listen to others and see there is more to things than meets the eye. As he is driving her nuts as the best man she is falling for him. He comes off gruff at first but she gets to see the true Alec. The one who is in pain over his mom after all these years. the one mourning his brother not being in his life the way he was. the one who is trying to please his dad by working to the bone. the responsible man with so many things going on he has been for so long that he hasn’t really explored who he can be. Kate falls but always keeps her wariness up and it almost costs them happiness in the end. thank heavens Alec is a smart guy and goes to a great source for help-mom.

The story is fun to read as Kate plans her best friend’s wedding and begins to heal from her heartbreak. She yearns for her sister and with Alec’s help this too is healed. Along the way she falls for the best man who starts out prickly to her. She lets her preconceived notions based on her past almost take away the progress she has made but Alec pulls out all the stops there as well. We have fun friends that are loyal and adorable. A relationship develop where they learn about each other through the intimacy of talking. So ladies not much in terms of between the sheets it truly is a intimate book in the art of exploration of learning about one another and seeing how they help each other gain strength and wisdom. They are each others rock even if they don’t realize it. A wonderful fun tale of love, friendship and family.

One Week to the Wedding is my first Olivia Miles book and I'm so happy that I've had the chance to read her - I can already tell she's well on her way to becoming a favorite. I felt such a strong pull to Kate, our heroine, and the plight to plan and manage her best friend Elizabeths' wedding.

No one would have blamed Kate for taking a pass, but she's made of sterner stuff and wouldn't have it any other way. Kate's biggest challenge is getting the grooms' brother Alec to his appointments on time, trying to support William's marriage to Elizabeth. Kate and Alec do feel a draw to each other, each acknowledging an appreciation of each others appearance, but personality wise the two seem very different. I know a week seems like no time, but I consider this a slow-burn romance. There's no insta-love and as the week plays out Alec's intentions become clear to Kate. Her instincts have never seemed more sharpened but she quickly learns that things aren't always what they seem. She learns this lesson more than once. As soon as Kate's history is revealed I felt my heart ache for her. She's experienced the worst betrayal, something that would make any woman hesitant to trust again.

Ms Miles characters are well developed, given fresh and distinct voices and perspectives. There's a strong message about forgiveness and putting past transgressions firmly in the past. We do get her sister Charlotte's perspective, and you'll wonder how this family could ever find themselves working to repair their relationship. But Miles manages to make at least one of the villains in the story sympathetic.

I'm ready to return to Misty Point and to the next chapter in the lives of the Daniels' family. 5 stars and recommendation!

Kate Daniels is a wedding planner and right now she is helping with her best friend, Elizabeth’s wedding. She is trying to calm Elizabeth’s nerves as her fiancé, William’s father doesn’t seem to care for her. William’s mother passed away some years back and his father is a high-powered financial executive. William’s brother, Alec, who works with his father will be there for the wedding as well. Elizabeth feels that he doesn’t approve of the wedding either.

Kate was to have been married a year ago to Jake but the wedding was called off at the last minute. It turns out that Kate’s sister, Charlotte, had slept with Jake. It has been difficult for Kate to get over her broken heart but she is working hard to do so.

Kate has a monster for a boss. The woman does all she can to trip her up and make her look like she missed some detail. Therefore, Kate always has her many checklists with her.

As the days of the last week pass, Kate is busy with being sure the dresses, tuxes, parties, flowers, food, cake, etc. are all in order. In addition to being the wedding planner, she will be Elizabeth’s maid of honor.

When Kate meets Alec to discuss the rehearsal dinner and his part as the best man, he appears to be somewhat arrogant to her which makes their discussions rather rocky. But as they get to know one another, an attraction develops between them. Could this lead somewhere or is it just a fling in the midst of the excitement of a wedding?

I enjoyed this story very much. Kate is a character that has been perfectly developed by the author. We see her pain, her kindness, and her determination to be a success. I hope readers will enjoy this sweet and clean story as much as I did.

I'm an absolute sucker for books about wedding planners and I'm in a major chick lit mood, so this one was a perfect read for me. The oceanfront setting was dreamy and I really fell into the characters and their worlds. Can't wait to read the next title in the Misty Point series!

One Week to the Wedding is the first and exciting new novel from author Olivia Miles. This book is fun and light and has just the right amount of drama. I enjoyed Kate from the moment I met her. I thought she was an amazing friend and loved that she helped plan her bff’s wedding despite having her own personal reservations when it comes to tying the knot. Be a wedding planner is no easy feat when it comes to her jilted heart, but if anyone can do it, it’s Kate….Charlotte knows she messed up. She hurt her sister in a way that no sister ever should. She’ll do anything to get Kate to forgive her, even if that means she’s go to return home. Will Kate be able to move on from the past and heal her wounded heart? Will Kate learn the power of true love, forgiveness and family? You’ll just have to read this book for yourself to find out.

Overall, I thought this book was an ok read. I thought this book was written and paced very well. The characters were likable and easy to relate to. They kept me intrigued and had me wanting to learn more. I loved the setting and idea of this story. There is nothing like a jilted woman finding love again!

I think this story was a great and sweet second chance romance. It is a great story of second chances; not just in love, but also family. I think this story had just the right amount of drama and romance. Overall, I think this series is off to a good start and I look forward to seeing where it will go next.

One Week To The Wedding
Misty Point, Book #1
By Olivia Miles

Synopsis:

In the vein of New York Times bestselling authors Susan Mallery, Robyn Carr, and Kristan Higgins, comes the first in a new women’s fiction novel from Olivia Miles.

Sometimes the road to happily ever after takes a few wrong turns…

Kate Daniels couldn’t be more excited to be planning her best friend’s wedding…in theory. Lately, just thinking about gowns and centerpieces makes her want to hide under the covers with her dog and a good book –one that doesn’t include a romantic plot, thank you very much. Maybe it’s because her fiancé cheated. Or maybe it’s because he cheated with her younger sister, Charlotte. Or maybe it’s because her newfound reputation as jilted wedding planner isn’t exactly doing wonders for her career.

Charlotte knows she messed up. Big time. But she also knows something Kate doesn’t-something that might bring them close again, if her sister will ever take her calls. But as time passes and silence grows, Charlotte begins to realize she can’t hide from her problems forever, and that sometimes the only place to run is home.

With the wedding only a week away, Kate expects a few surprises. But what she doesn’t expect is to find herself believing…in the strength of family, and the possibility of finding love again. (Goodreads)

Review:

Kate Daniels is a wedding planner, and a pretty good one , if she does say so herself. She has to be because this will be one of the hardest weddings she has planned. First of all, it is for her best friend, Elizabeth. She wants everything to be perfect and go off without a hitch. Secondly, she has something to prove to everyone. She was supposed to get married herself, but the wedding never took place because her fiance cheated on her with her sister. So she has to prove to everyone (including herself) that she is over the heartbreak and able to do her job well. She has to make everything (the flowers, the dresses, the tuxes…) are perfect and make sure the best man does not ruin the wedding.

Alec, the groom’s brother and best man, is determined to keep his brother from getting married. He does not want to lose his brother to a wife and he feels his brother should stay and work in the family business. So he is going to try and keep his brother from making a big mistake. Alec has his own set of problems to deal with. He has not completely gotten over his mother’s death, he misses his brother a lot and he tries to gain his father’s approval by becoming a workaholic. Deep down he is really an unhappy person, although you would have to look deep under his hard exterior to know this.

The characters are well developed and well rounded. Both Kate and Alec have baggage that they have to deal with. But I thought that baggage made them seem more realistic and human, which I enjoyed. It was great to see them both start to open up, especially after the rocky start that they had. Both of these characters showed growth and maturity as the book progressed. As they spend more time together, they start to share things and begin to develop feelings for each other. Things moved slowly between Kate and Alec, which I felt made the book seem more realistic.

This book is about second chances, forgiveness, family, betrayal and moving forward. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted women’s contemporary. I am a little excited that this is the first book in the series because I can look forward to reading more books in this series.

Kate Daniels feels like she’s always the wedding planner, never the bride. After being jilted a year ago, she still loves helping her brides find their perfect “I do’s” while secretly wishing it was her. There’s been a lot of heartbreak and after her public—and humiliating—breakup, her boss has put Kate in her gun sights and is determined to make her miserable enough to quit…if she can’t find a way to fire Kate first.

With her best friend Elisabeth’s wedding a week away, Kate has to be on her A Game. Elizabeth is worried that her future brother in law, Alec, will do something to ruin the wedding. Married to work and the family business, he had no qualms letting his brother know he was making a big mistake in marrying Elizabeth and moving to Misty Point. Kate is going to babysit Alec and make sure he doesn’t try any fishy business.

Kate’s dilemma comes in when she starts to get to know Alec. He’s good looking and comes across as a player, plus he’s married to his work. All of these are red flags from when she was jilted. But in spite of that, his good looks and charm start to wear her down a bit. When he shows his human vulnerabilities, it’s hard to remember that he could be the enemy. Kate is running on overdrive and if she cracks, she’s not sure who would be there to pick up the pieces.

Alec is secretly determined to bring William back to Boston to the family business. He doesn’t really have anything against Elizabeth, other than she took William from the business. Since then, Alec has seen the writing on the wall. If they don’t get a big account or two, the business might fold in a year. He stays in Misty Point the week prior to the wedding to wine and dine a potential client and to try to get William to come back to Boston after the wedding. What’s a guy to do when he sees a relaxed and happy side of his brother that has never been there before?

A very fun summer read. I wished I was on the beach reading it, but being in the land-locked Midwest, I had to content myself with a beach chair on my deck. There are a lot of emotional undercurrents flowing through the book and I was never sure if a perfect storm would develop and make everything—and everyone—blow up into a frenzied whirlwind. I really liked the characters—even Alec once I got to know him better. There’s a whole sidebar story about Kate’s sister and I look forward to Charlotte getting her own book to tell her own story. It was a little jumpy sometimes until we started to understand why Charlotte’s story was a part of this story. Once I had more information, my confusion ended and I have to admit, I both pitied and was proud of Charlotte for how she was handling everything.

While I enjoyed the book, there were a few places where I had trouble with believing the choices the characters made. That was a little distracting, but didn’t harm my overall enjoyment. The characters are overall wonderful, small-town people. They care about each other and you know they are there for each other. If you would like a light-hearted, fun summer read, look no farther.

Wedding planner extraordinaire Kate Daniels is planning her best friend’s wedding and nothing can go wrong. Not like it went wrong when she was planning her own wedding when she was jilted by her fiancé weeks before the ceremony when he admitted he was cheating on her…with her sister! So Kate has some redeeming to do. She needs to show herself and everyone else that she is ok, back on the saddle, ready to rock and roll. And so that sets the stage for this lovely little story of healing relationships, love, and friendship.

I am a big fan of this genre. I love stories that are real life with a touch of romance thrown in. I am not a big fan of the title of the genre, “women’s fiction” but beggars can’t be choosers! I thought Olivia Miles did a nice job telling the story of Kate and her woes. She gave me romance. She gave me friendships. She gave me the hurdle of Kate dealing with forgiving her sister, moving on, and then finding love again. The only thing she didn’t give me was the hurt of Charlotte betraying the one person she should never betray. I get it. Kate was brushing her off and not bothering to think about her, but I think that this would be a big deal to me. If my sister had sex and ran off with my fiancé weeks before my wedding, I’m not sure the hurt would be able to be stuffed down. The anger. The betrayal. That is some big stuff there and I felt like it was missing in the story.

I am able to forgive that slight though because I really enjoyed Kate’s romance with Alec. Alec was so stuffy when we first met him as he was dealing with some things himself, mainly the fact that his brother and best friend up and ditched him for a woman and sent the family business to the shitter! Miles did a nice job moving Alec toward forgiveness of his brother and acceptness of a new life for himself. I enjoyed reading the budding relationship between Kate and Alec. He was very sweet to Kate and I felt like they had good chemistry. I would have liked a few more scenes with Alec and Kate. Their relationship felt genuine but rushed. And note, if you’re looking for sexy times, look elsewhere.

Another on the plus side, the imagery of the town: Kate lives in a small beach town and it was very quaint. The cobblestone roads, the lighthouse, the friends and families, even the hotel were painted as picturesque, the kind of place you go to raise a family, not vacation! It is a town I wouldn’t mind living in if it exists.

There are plenty of characters and Miles sets them up nicely to make this into a series. This book was a really nice way for me to spend a rainy morning. If you’re looking for a lite read, check this one out.

While I was reading One Week to the Wedding all I could think of was how would I have reacted if I was in Kate’s unfortunate shoes. And I’m certain it wouldn’t be with the relative grace and strength that she showed. There is a bitter sweetness to this story that I would consider more Women’s Fiction than Romance. As a wedding planner it’s Kate’s job to make certain that the bride’s wedding goes off without a hitch – or at least solve those hitches before the bride learns of them. Yet for Kate, planning her friend’s wedding is pure agony for all it’s bringing back are the thoughts of what should have been her’s – if only her ex wasn’t a sneaking, cheating jerk… and her sister hadn’t betrayed her in the worst way possible.

There is a touch of a possible romance when Alec, the bride’s future brother-in-law makes his appearance, and his growing attraction to Kate is soon returned. Aside from that fun side event, I found One Week to the Wedding to be very much a healing story of one woman’s dealing with the shock and consequences of the actions of those she loves. I never felt that Kate’s situation was treated with triteness or an unrealistic solution. It hurts to be betrayed. Bottom line, it hurts. And it takes time to heal those wounds. Yes, a flirtation with a handsome man, the possibility of more with him in the future and the overtures of her sister, Charlottte are parts of Kate’s story – the real star is Kate herself as she learns a new life, different from what she’d planned and moves on.

I enjoyed Kate’s journey. Charlotte will have her story told later in the series. There are a few twists and turns along the way that kept this story lively and entertaining. In all, I’d have no trouble recommending One Week to the Wedding for any reader who enjoys Women’s Fiction or light Romance.

I love when an author is able to tell a good romance without having to resort to XXX scenes every chapter to fill up the page quota; you know the whole tell don’t show thing. Olivia Miles does a great job of spinning a tale that’s so much more than girl meets boy and falls in love.

Most of the story is told from Kate Daniels point of view but you also get a bit from her sister Charlotte’s and like they say there’s always 2 sides to every story.

Miles paints Kate as this strong but bruised woman. She was in a committed relationship that didn’t end well and has to keep living in a small town where everyone knows her business PLUS she works in the wedding industry which just keeps rubbing salt in that open wound. All around her healing process isn’t going well but the strength of her character definitely makes her the kind of friend any of us would be lucky to have.

Charlotte is the kind of sister that comes straight off some soap opera plot; hell bent on wrecking her sister’s life not because she’s an evil watch but because she’s immature and selfish. Those personality traits are going to end up seriously wrecking her life. Even by the end of the book she still has this mile wide selfish streak where she seems to want everyone else to fix her problems rather than make the difficult choices to do it herself.

It looks like in Book 2 the focus will be on her and hopefully Miles has her see the light because right now I seriously couldn’t stand her and found NO redeeming qualities so I’m not that looking forward to the sequel. I’ll read it since I like Miles writing but after I get through everything else I want to read first.

Aside from the craziness of Charlotte’s character Miles does bring her story to a great conclusion with the satisfactory happy ending for most. A curve ball got thrown in at the extreme end that perfectly sets up Book 2.

Kate Daniels is planning her best friend’s wedding. It should be a happy occasion but it is not without its sorrows for Kate. Kate was engaged to be married not too long ago and it ended because he cheated on her with her sister Charlotte. Kate works hard to put that behind her and ignore Charlotte who keeps calling her to make amends. Kate has her hands full with the best man who is more interested in making his business work than the wedding. Will Kate get the wedding to go off without a hitch and maybe with more of a healed heart for her?

In an Oyster Shell – A poignant tale of forgiveness and moving forward.

The Pearls – The concept was surprising to me. The surprising aspect was the sister who cheated with her ex’ fiance. I don’t know why I find this surprising but it was. Learning to forgive her sister is a part of the story. It’s hard and Kate struggles and that kept me turning the pages. The added depth of a romance with the best man made this a great story.

The characters were everything in this story. There was Kate a high strung no non-sense wedding planner. Then there was the bride who was on cloud nine the whole story. Then Alec the self-absorbed best man who gets a little less so with Kate around. Then there is Charlotte who is kind of a sad character but adds to the story none the less.

The romance was perfect for what Kate was going through. It was unexpected but ended up being something she could count on. It was a great addition to the story.

The Sand – Charlotte was really a sad character and stars in the next book. I don’t know if I will continue.

Kate is just trying to make this a memorable time for her best friend. She works for a wedding planner who happens to have a grudge against Kate problem one. She also was jilted by her fiancé who took off with her sister. Now as she tries to heal (I for one don’t feel as if a wedding planner is the right job for Kate)her sister wants to contact her make peace…I am just not feeling this. Charlotte couldn’t have picked a worst time. Kate is now trying to rein in the groom brother who happens to be the best man. The chemistry between Kate and Alec is strong. But Alec has problems of his own.

Family…is what it all comes down to. Kate wants nothing to do with Charlotte (who realizes her mistakes, knows how to fix them but Kate won’t talk to her). And then there is Alec who is trying to get his brother not to marry but to come back home and work in the family business. Why can’t he do both.

Ms. Miles gives us interesting well rounded character like Kate and Alec. Showing a more realistic relationship she slows it down and gives that love/hate balance. Then just for some depth to the story she adds family issues and a mixed up dynamic. With these elements you get a full spectrum of emotions.

I enjoyed the story and the characters. It was fun to watch them grow, share and mature. With the personal growth Ms. Miles also showed that second chances were a good thing, forgiving leads to moving forward and healing. Which I felt brought warmth into the story making it seem…real.

This is a book to recommend to someone that needs to look at moving on and taking a second chance.

After her own wedding fell apart, Kate Daniels is left struggling to put on a brave face and help plan her best friends wedding. Every facet of the planning is reminding her of what she lost, and stirring up the hurt and bad memories all over again. But then she meets Alec, the brides soon to be brother in law, and he becomes the perfect distraction for her, an irritating distraction no less, but he definitely helps her focus her thoughts on something else for a change.

But just when things in Kate's life look like they are starting to turn around her sister wanders back into her life, looking to mend fences, and Kate isn't so sure she is ready to let her back in. Charlotte is partly to blame for the break-up of Kate's wedding and she feels as though she has a score to settle. If she can just corner Kate long enough to say her peace...

This endearing story captured my attention from the first page, and took me on a very enjoyable literary escape. While I normally stick close to the romance genre, I found this read to be a refreshing change of pace for me, I would say it is more of a women's fiction story that borders on romance. The story line was very engaging, and is filled with moments that will make smile, moments that will have you reaching for a tissue, and moments that will have your heart rejoicing... it is an all around good read. If you are looking for a read to pack into your vacation reading bag, I highly recommend you add this one to it, it is sure to leave with a happy heart!

One Week to the Wedding by Olivia Miles is the first book in the Misty Point series, OM's newest series! I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much for the opportunity, I very much enjoyed reading this book!
Misty Point is a small beach town, complete with a many quaint amenities - an Inn, a flower shop, a bakery, a tea shop, a cafe, and more, and I could just picture the storefronts with their cute flower boxes in front! Details that really paint Misty Point as a picturesque and charming place to be!
This is a story about second chances, about moving through life's struggles, about turning points. Our Heroine, Kate, faces all of these things as she plans her best friend's wedding in the midst of getting over her own broken engagement, and her strained relationship with her sister. As wedding planner and best friend to the bride, Kate strives to keep tabs on the unpredictable best man, Alec, as he seems to be more concerned with business rather than wedding duties. Yet, as time goes on she may start to believe that maybe he's not as bad as she first thought, and that despite her past, maybe love and forgiveness is possible again.
I love how the author sets up this series - the friendships, the romance intertwined, what a wonderful start! I'm anxious to see how everything progresses between Kate and Alec, and how Charlotte fares, along with Bree and Colleen! I really enjoyed all the characters and how the girls have a tight knit group! I am looking forward to more in Misty Point!! Happy Reading!

This is #1 in the Misty Point series.  Besides reading books on fireman, SEALs, etc, I love when books are centered around a wedding.

Kate has to plan her best friend's wedding.  It is her job as a wedding planner, but this wedding is special to her.  She wants everything to go perfectly, but the bride, Elizabeth, thinks her groom's family does not like her and is worried the groom's brother, Alec will pull something.

Could you plan weddings for a living if your fiancé let you before the wedding?  I am not sure I could.  It is a constant reminder of what you lost.  Add he cheated with your sister (it's in the description).  How can you be sisters with Charlotte anymore?  Could you forgive her?

I definitely want to read the next book that is on Charlotte.  I was hooked from page 1 and did not want to stop reading.  I love Ms Olivia Mile's writing.

☆☆☆☆☆
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Recently jilted Kate finds herself planning her best friend’s wedding. This is all fine and dandy, in theory, but after watching her ex-fiance run off with her sister, she would rather hide under the covers with her dog and a book than look at centerpieces and attend fittings. With the wedding one week away, Kate is busy. But just because she is busy doesn’t mean she can’t hang out with the groom’s brother a little bit. Right?

When I stumbled across One Week to the Wedding by Olivia Miles, I knew I had to read it. As you know, I have been trying to incorporate some titles to get me excited for my upcoming nuptials and I have been trying to consume any summer beach read possible, so this one was a no brainer for me!

Fun and endearing, I found myself completely wrapped up in the week leading up to the wedding and all the drama that surrounded it. Mostly narrated through Kate, our protagonist, as she tries to navigate the world of wedding planning while trying to mend her own broken heart. We also get a perspective from her sister, Charlotte, who is trying desperately to make amends and, finally, from Alec, the groom’s brother who is a serious business man with a serious soft spot.

Plenty of twists and several turns had me interested in the story but the characters and the feel-good story kept me continuously reading. This one reminded me of those Nantucket novels that I love to get lost in during the summer; think Elin Hilderbrand and Kristan Higgins.

The first novel in this series, I’ll be anxiously awaiting the second book!

Amazing story of acceptance, friendship, family, forgiveness and the right decision. What is important. Truly loved this book.

Kate Daniels, Wedding planner and maid of honor for her best friend since they were kids. She wants her friends wedding to be perfect. Even if hers didn't go as planned.
Alec Montgomery the best man foresees some issues. First he doesn't like the bride. She can't have that.

Alec has reasons he doesn't approve of the marriage of his brothers..besides that he barley knows her. It's all business to him, and his father.! He needs his brother back home. He'll do whatever it takes to get him back home.

While Alec and Kate do there duties for
The wedding it makes him realize he's a little jealous. See finally sees the light.

When a family problem with Kate and her sister sneaks up on her. It may go either way.

See what happens.

Highly recommend..

Overriding Complaint (really against the editor) - I now list list this first as I see it as a distressing trend in too many books: The Epilogue is no epilogue. Let's be real. Epilogue means time, often years, at least months, perhaps weeks if you really want to push it. If you look at the Cambridge Dictionary definition it says, "a speech or piece of text added to the end of a play or book, often giving a short statement about what happens to the characters after the play or book finishes." FINISHES being the operative word. Not TO finish the book, as in there should already be an end. There is NO epilogue here. It is simply an in-time-sequence of the story and the last chapter of the book. Pretense. Copycat. Being in-vogue. I don't know what it is. Or why it is. Why is this being done? It just shouldn't be!!

Other than that the writing was ok, the story ok. Just ok, not bad, not great.

This is a nice quick read. Not too overly complicated. New England seaside vacation smalltown girl getting her life back together after being jilted by her cheating ex-fiance and her younger sister is the wedding planner for her best friend's wedding falls for the tall rich workaholic best man with abandonment issues who is in town to try to stop the wedding of his brother to convince him to come back to the City to help the suffering family business and appease their cold distant father and take a meeting with the father of said jilting cheating fiance who is dodging his responsibility of the child he made with that cheating night with the little sister. With hearts connecting, misunderstood feelings and a troublesome boss.... the bast man and wedding planner-maid of honor come together in the end.

What is meant to be a cause for celebration, could end up being anything but. One Week to the Wedding is a tale of sisterhood, betrayals and second chances. Olivia Miles always delivers stories that are full of substance, not just entertaining. Kate and Charlotte are sisters with a complicated relationship. What should have been an unbreakable bond has ended up tarnished by betrayal and jealousy. I guess that old the statement about not realizing how important something is until too late is true. One regret too many has left Charlotte estranged from the most important person in her life. Will Kate every forgive her? One Week to the Wedding is a thought provoking story of heartache, family and forgiveness told through the eyes of love and a heart of regret.

Olivia Miles takes a slight departure from her small town romances in her new book One Week to the Wedding. Though the small town elements are still well in evidence, this novel falls more into the women’s fiction category as we see Kate put her life back together after the ultimate betrayal, all while making sure her best friend has the wedding of her dreams. I really enjoyed Kate’s story. Miles aptly demonstrates that thing are not always what they seem and sometimes the best thing you can do is let go. While, a little too serious for a true beach read, it is still worth throwing into your beach bag for a long weekend away.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

Olivia Miles has done it again - I read this book from start to finish. It is the first book in the Misty Point series and I will be waiting for the next one. Misty Point is a small beach town

Kate is helping her friend Charlotte plan her perfect wedding while nursing a broken heart but while she is doing her best to make a great wedding the grooms brother is doing all he can to stop it and get him back to the corporate world.

I won't say any more or I will spoil it but get your name on your library's hold list as it will get long fast.

Thanks Net Gallery and the publisher for the advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

I was given a chance to read this book with an honest review when I was done.

I very much enjoy reading books by Olivia Miles and this one did not disappoint. Kate is a wedding planner that had a very bad experience with her own wedding that never happened. She is planning her best friends wedding, which seems to bring up many memories that she would rather be forgetting. She has decided to move on from that and try to make her friends wedding the best that it can be by doing everything in her power to double check every aspect. Throw in the best man for some curve balls and this book kept me reading and very entertained. I can't wait to see what the next book brings.
