Family secrets combine with fantasy in this epic tale of battle, magic, strange creatures, power, and fate, in this final novel in a sweeping middle grade series that Publishers Weekly called “Game of Thrones on a mellow day.”
An ancient prophecy says that when three stars appear in the sky, triplets will take the throne and peace will come to the land. The stars have appeared, and the triplets are Gulph, Tarlan, and Elodie. But the prophecy appears to have failed.
Tarlan saw Gulph fall from a burning tower during a final confrontation with their undead father. There’s no way Gulph could have survived…even with his special abilities.
As for his sister, Elodie, Tarlan’s convinced that she’s a traitor who betrayed the rebellion and her family just so she could have the throne to herself.
With nothing left to believe in, Tarlan’s prepared to abandon both the cause and his pack of wild animals, and head north.
But appearances can be deceiving. And in a world of magic and deceit, mistaking lies for truth can be deadly.
This series is for anyone who has waited for The Winds of Winter for the past eight years - it may be for kids, but it's not *really* for kids. Maybe some precocious kiddos could enjoy this, but I would recommend this for anyone who like gritty, gruesome yet optimistic fantasy series that have actually been finished have wonderfully delineated characters with some absolutely breathtaking and original magic systems.
Some time, I'll review these books properly, but for now - well, you'll just have to take my word for it.
Hey fellow readers! I'm super excited to tell you all about "A Kingdom Rises," this amazing book full of magic, battles, and family secrets. It's like a super cool adventure that you won't want to miss!
So, the story is all about this ancient prophecy that says when three stars appear, triplets will become rulers, and peace will come to the land. The triplets are Gulph, Tarlan, and Elodie. Sounds pretty epic, right? But here's the twist – it looks like the prophecy might not have worked out like everyone thought.
Tarlan, one of the triplets, saw his brother Gulph fall from a burning tower. I know, that sounds super intense! Tarlan thinks Gulph couldn't have survived, even with his special powers. And guess what? He's not too sure about his sister Elodie either. He thinks she might be a traitor who wanted the throne all to herself.
Now, Tarlan is feeling super lost and is about to give up on everything, even his pack of wild animals! He's ready to head north and leave it all behind. But you know what they say, appearances can be deceiving. In a world full of magic and tricks, figuring out what's true can be really tricky and dangerous.
I love how this book is like a mix of battles, magic, and secrets. It's like "Game of Thrones on a mellow day," whatever that means. The story is so exciting, and you never know what's going to happen next!
If you're into epic adventures, magical worlds, and trying to uncover family secrets, then "A Kingdom Rises" is the book for you. It's like going on a rollercoaster of emotions and surprises. So, grab the book and get ready for a thrilling ride in a land of fantasy and magic! 🚀✨
After the great battle, Tarlan has retreated in sorrow and confusion. He saw Gulph die during that battle and he is sure that Elodie has betrayed them all. Not only doe Tarlan have a lot to learn and faith to grow, but all three triplets have heroics to complete before they might finally defeat the last of the many evil forces arrayed against them.
Rinehart continues on a complicated, great-neck pace that melds well into a solid whole. While there doesn’t seem to be a need for a further title, fans will be left desiring much more.
While Elodie is imprisoned by Lord Vicerin, she uses her powers to summon dead warriors Vicerin had killed. With the dead’s help, she and her friends escape and fight their way to Melchior & troops loyal to the triplets. Meanwhile, Gulph wakes up from his fatal jump into the chasm fully healed by Celestis’s waters. Returning to Celestis, Gulph overthrows Lady Redina and leads Celestis’s inhabitants up to Idilliam. Tarlan soon arrives to fly Gulph and their mother to Elodie. Together the siblings lead an army of local men, the dead, and animals to contend with a new invading force and Vicerin.
The final book in the Crown of Three series resolves all the countless calamities the siblings have endured. But a new, internal problem arises with Tarlan. At the beginning of this novel both Elodie and Gulph have accepted their royal roles. Tarlan, however, can’t quite accept his part in the prophecy. The constant fighting, the loss of his animal friends, and his uncomfortable human interactions cause Tarlan to fly away from his life. When Tarlan finally lands, he runs into Captain Leom: one of the men who smuggled Tarlan and his siblings away so they could have a chance to fulfill the prophecy. Realizing the realm needs his help and that Tarlan can’t run away from his destiny, Tarlan accepts his royal life and reunites with Elodie and Gulph. At times the plot gets muddled with three perspectives of the same event and drawn out wars, but the story gets back on track to create a clean, satisfactory finish. A complex, captivating trilogy any fantasy fan would enjoy.

This book was quite well-written (like the others books in this series), but sometimes the story just seemed a little bit rushed and unrealistic to me (I know it's fantasy, but sometimes there were moments that were just too unrealistic). I loved the overall story and characters, but I kinda wish the book would be a bit longer because I feel like we could've gotten more time with the characters that were introduced in the first and second book and were only back at the end of this book. The epilogue was amazing and really beautiful. Overall this book is great, but I feel like the story was a little bit rushed at times.
I still do not understand, who is the audience for this book.. it is too bloody for young readers, and certainly not for adults - I mean, just please do not compare it to Game of Thrones... I just could not enjoy it, I got to the end only skipping through another twist, another win for the 13-year-old triplets who somehow survive battle after battle against grown soldiers. The magic part was well written and the concept of the three realms good. All in all, not recommending it.
This was the conclusion of a trilogy. It was a satisfying ending and tied up all the loose threads. I really liked the triplets (Gulph, Elodie, and Tarlan). I was sorry that Elodie lost her best friend Samial but that is a price one pays in war. I just wish there had been more interaction with Tarlan's pack.
This was an interesting book. It was shocking at some parts. Firce in others. It was Shocking to see how 3 siblings could act so differently but seem so the same really. Its a really good book. I have to admit this is the only book I have read in the series. I haven't read Book one or two yet. You should read it though its really good.
"En résumé, une trilogie que je ne peux que vous conseiller de découvrir à votre tour. Une plume prenante, un univers maîtrisé, des personnages attachants, une intrigue addictive. Bref, tout est là pour plaire aux férus de fantasy. Bien plus complexe qu'on ne le pense, cet univers pourrait en surprendre plus d'un."
I thought I’d give this book 2 stars because the middle was SO boring but the end made up for it. Also there was no need to hurt me like that with the epilogue. Why would you do that to me
Tarlan abandons his pack and people after believing his brother to be dead at the hands of Brutan; Gulph leads a revolution deep within the lost realm; and together, Elodie and her family and allies lead a grandiose battle against coming invaders to save their kingdoms once and for all! Rinehart will have fans cheering and goosebumps racing up their spines with this exhilarating finale to a fantastic trilogy! Even when the triplets are reunited, can their combined powers and people stand a chance against such powerful magic?!
