ছোট্টো, এক বসায় পড়ে ফেলার বইটা সেই ঘরানার- যে বই পড়ে ছোটোরা আনন্দ পায় আর বড়রা ভাবে।

The animals went in two by... three?!
Very funny. I can see that it's going to annoy a few readers who take these stories more seriously, but for anyone who can look at the Noah's Ark tale and enjoy mockery, question-asking, irreverence - this is great.
Three penguins are living their lives in relative (dis)harmony when the Dove flies by with an invitation for two to an exclusive sea-borne rescue craft - the world is about to be flooded, they need to be on board at eight o'clock or miss out. But the two chosen can't possibly leave their pal behind...
What happens next are a few funny little episodes on board the ark, with some amusing sketches of what might happen if an extra penguin was smuggled aboard and had to keep his head (and beak) low.
Translated, you wouldn't notice this isn't originally an English story, it's very funny with some memorable penguins (and a dove) - it would make a good stage play actually - and even with some metaphysical questions posed on God and His morality/decisions.
I haven't yet read this to/with my 7-year-old but I think he will find it as comical as I did, and I think he and I will have some discussions about the content. We've already talked 'religion' and this is a good route to starting analysis.
Some good points raised regarding the Old Testament story, and a lovely way to look at a well-known tale from a new viewpoint.
I tried to this myself to make sure my son would be ready for it, and I think he's about at the lower end of suitability. It's one that capable readers of 8 or 9 and above will manage and hopefully enjoy.

Since I have been on this reading journey, I have been wanting to share my love of reading with my son.
He has now taking a real liking into reading books that are not just the school books he’s given in class.
So when this read came along, it was a nice opportunity for us to read it together. Needless to say that he enjoyed it immensely.
“Meet at The Ark at Eight!” is the lovely retelling of one of the most famous biblical myth ever told: The Story Of The Great Flood.
As far as children books go, it’s a very good approach to answer one of the greatest questions we’ve been asking for centuries. Is there a God?
Well, let me tell you right away that the answer to this question is not in this book :).
What you will find however, is a way to introduce the concept of faith and the belief in something much bigger than oneself, powerful, unseen and everywhere.
As a parent, I wish I had come across this book earlier as questions on faith coming from children can be very difficult to answer.
This story which explores the good and bad side of humanity is told via the voices of 3 penguins and an overworked dove in a language that will talk to young children, it is also accompanied by the lovely illustrations giving an added dimension to the words.
It goes beyond the original story by also introducing forgiveness, acceptance and tolerance of differences.
Outside the obvious religious element, it is a tale story for kids and I would highly recommend it.

Si te la quieres pasar bien tú y regalarte un rato leyendo un libro de niños que es para todos, este. No lo dudes.

Perfect little book. Loved the conundrums these penguins ponder and loved how it played out. Its short, simple, yet thought invoking and clever. All while being entertaining.

টিকিট পেয়ে দুই বন্ধু উচ্ছ্বসিত। কিন্তু হঠাৎ মনে পরে, ওদের গ্যাং তো আসলে তিনজনের। তৃতীয় পেঙ্গুইনটির স্বভাব হলো অনর্গল প্রশ্ন করা, ঈশ্বর সম্পর্কে সন্দেহ পোষণ করা, এইসব। সেই বকবকানি বন্ধুকে ফেলে রেখেই কি ওরা চলে যাবে? নাকি বাচালটাকেও নিয়ে যাবে? সমস্যা হল—ঈশ্বর বলেছেন প্রত্যেক প্রাণী জোড়ায় জোড়ায় আসতে।
তাহলে উপায়?
শেষ পর্যন্ত সেই বাচাল বন্ধুকে সুটকেসে ভরে নিয়ে নূহের নৌকায় উঠে যে কি সব কাণ্ড!
মহা বিপর্যয়ের সময়ের গল্প। গল্পের পরিসর ছোট্ট হলেও এর মধ্যে থাকা দার্শনিক প্রশ্নগুলো বড়দের একটু হলেও ভাবাবে। ছোটরা মজা পেলেও পেতে পারে। হাজার হোক ‘শিশুতোষ’ বই তো 😉

Drei Pinguine im ewigen Eis. Sie streiten und kabbeln sich, obwohl sie sich eigentlich ziemlich gerne haben. Sie diskutieren über Gut und Böse, darüber, ob es Gott gibt oder nicht. Jeder Tag scheint wie der andere, was sie im Kern ziemlich angenehm finden.
Bis eines Tages erst ein kleiner gelber Schmetterling bei ihnen auftaucht - der zu allerhand emotionalem Durcheinander führt - und kurz darauf eine weiße Taube, die den Weltuntergang in Form der Sintflut ankündigt. Natürlich steht Noahs rettende Art schon bereit, zwei der Pinguine dürfen mit. Weil sie aber den dritten nicht zurück lassen möchten, schmuggeln sie ihn mit an Board. Das sorgt für Chaos - ist aber am Ende auch die Rettung für die vollkommen überforderte Taube.
Ulrich Hubs "An der Arche um Acht" erschien 2005 zunächst als Kindertheaterstück und wurde unter seiner Regie 2006 am Badischen Staatstheater Karlsruhe uraufgeführt. Das entsprechende Kinderbuch mit Illustrationen von Jörg Mühle erschien dann 2007 und ist so knuffelkeksig wie es klingt.
Hub hat hier eine wirklich bezaubernde Geschichte über Freundschaft, Zusammenhalt und Glaubensphilosophie geschrieben, die am Ende sogar mit queerem Einschlag daherkommt. Der Ton ist witzig-frech und man fliegt nur so durch die rund 60 Seiten. Eine große (Vor)Leseempfehlung!

It gives a nice discussion about god and monotheistic religions and the writing style is funny, but not my type of book.

Ich liebe Pinguine und Kinderbücher, also diese Geschichte ist perfekt für mich. Obwohl die Geschichte nicht christlich ist, erzählt es die Geschichte von Noahs Arche kreativ nach.
Drei Pinguine sind Freunde, aber der Kleinste glaubt nicht, dass es Gott gibt. Sie streiten und der kleinste geht verärgert weg. Eine Brieftaube kommt und lädt die zwei Pinguine offiziell ein: "an der Arche um Acht."
Sie fühlen sich wichtig, dass sie eingeladen wurden, aber sie wollen auch wissen, was mit alle anderen passiert. Sie beschließen, ihren Freund an Bord zu schmuggeln und hoffen, dass sie nicht erwischt werden.
Dieses kleines Buch stellt philosophische Fragen über Gott und eine klassische Bibelgeschichte.

I found this gem at its publishers bookstore a bit ago and read it out loud to the kids. We have a penguin lover in the house so it fit just right.
There were two isolated instances but glaring errors in the book about God, which I edited out as I read.
The rest was quite funny and offered differing views of God to consider. Is He a strict school marm who makes sure you dot your ps and q's? Or doesn't He much care what we do? Well, neither, really, but the book leaves this open ended. God and even Noah are absent from the story, and some follow up is needed on this. I just read the flood story in Genesis 6-9, and readers of this book would do well to go there next.
For a sampling of the quirkiness, The dove is an overworked "Martha."
As with much mainline Protestant publishing, for young or old, this work mixes imagination and important life questions (the ones conservatives aren't comfortable asking), with error that needs correction.

As a non-religious person, I didn’t find this particularly interesting so higher reviews by others are likely. I thought it was mostly okay- the plot, illustrations, moral, etc. were all pretty meh. However, it wasn’t particularly objectionable either. I was happily surprised that it sort of ended up making sense that the three penguins invited on the ark were all male. I didn’t notice till the end that it’s told in the present tense which is a bit awkward but not too horrible. Perhaps that’s why I wasn’t so keen on it. The title is actually kind of catchy. The characters aren’t particularly pleasant or likeable but as a biblical tale they aren’t really there for identifying with but rather to teach a lesson. That said, the lesson wasn’t too didactic or overbearing and does actually open up some interesting questions about God, as described in the blurb on the back.

Eine ungewöhnliche Perspektive auf die Bibelgeschichte. Feinsinnig und humorvoll zugleich.
Inhalt:
Wer ist Gott?
Schwierige Frage! Das finden auch drei Pinguine. Wenn er unsichtbar ist, woher weiß man dann, dass es ihn gibt?
Eine Taube berichtet von Gottes Zorn und seinem Plan, die Erde mithilfe einer Sintflut zu reinigen. Sie drückt den Pinguinen zwei Tickets in die Flügel und geht ihrer Wege.
Bekanntlich haben auf Noahs Arche aber nur zwei von jeder Tierart Platz. Und so verstecken die beiden ihren kleinen Freund in einem Koffer.
Auf ihrer Reise dreht sich alles um Freundschaft und die ganz großen Fragen des Lebens:
Ist der liebe Gott tatsächlich lieb? Sieht er wirklich alles? Ob er das Versteckspiel der drei Pinguine missbilligt?

Die drei Pinguine sind dank ihrer besonderen Merkmale und verschiedenen Mützen gut auseinander zu halten.
Mein Eindruck:
Mit viel Charme und gut verständlichen Worten wird das Abenteuer der drei Freunde erzählt.
Die Dialoge zwischen den Pinguinen sind einfach nur herrlich schräg und besonders der trockene Humor lockert das Gelesene immer wieder auf.
Der Autor nimmt junge Lesende mit auf eine abenteuerliche Reise, an deren Ende eine überraschende Erkenntnis auf die drei Pinguine wartet.
Der kleine Pinguin hat sich versehentlich auf einen Schmetterling gesetzt und diesen "abgemurkst". Die anderen erklären, dass Gott gewisse Regeln aufgestellt hat, an die sich alle halten müssen. "Du sollst nicht töten!" ist eine davon. Bricht man diese, ist mit Gott nicht gut Kirschenessen ... oder Käsekuchenessen ... und wenn dann am liebsten ohne Rosinen.
Verständlich, dass der kleine Kerl annimmt, dass die Sintflut auch seinetwegen stattfinden wird.
Die bekannte Bibelgeschichte rund um Noah und seine Arche wird genutzt, um aus der Perspektive kindlich-naiver Pinguine essenzielle Fragen (die allen Kindern auf der Seele brennen) mit viel Humor auszugestalten.
Eine unterhaltsame und tiefsinnige Geschichte mit vielen kleinen versteckten Botschaften, Weisheiten und Anspielungen.
Lehrreich für Jung und Alt und eine Möglichkeit über Toleranz, Vergebung und Güte zu sprechen. Übrigens ganz gleich, ob man gläubig ist oder nicht.
Fazit:
Ein außergewöhnliches und fast schon philosophisches Lesevergnügen.
Kinder erleben die bekannte Bibelgeschichte aus einer völlig neuen Perspektive.
Wunderschöne Illustrationen erwecken die Charaktere zum Leben.

Bekanntlich haben auf Noahs Arche aber nur zwei von jeder Tierart Platz. Und so verstecken die beiden ihren kleinen Freund in einem Koffer.
Auf ihrer Reise dreht sich alles um Freundschaft und die ganz großen Fragen des Lebens:
Ist der liebe Gott tatsächlich lieb? Sieht er wirklich alles? Ob er das Versteckspiel der drei Pinguine missbilligt?

Die drei Pinguine sind dank ihrer besonderen Merkmale und verschiedenen Mützen gut auseinander zu halten.
Mein Eindruck:
Mit viel Charme und gut verständlichen Worten wird das Abenteuer der drei Freunde erzählt.
Die Dialoge zwischen den Pinguinen sind einfach nur herrlich schräg und besonders der trockene Humor lockert das Gelesene immer wieder auf.
Der Autor nimmt junge Lesende mit auf eine abenteuerliche Reise, an deren Ende eine überraschende Erkenntnis auf die drei Pinguine wartet.
Der kleine Pinguin hat sich versehentlich auf einen Schmetterling gesetzt und diesen "abgemurkst". Die anderen erklären, dass Gott gewisse Regeln aufgestellt hat, an die sich alle halten müssen. "Du sollst nicht töten!" ist eine davon. Bricht man diese, ist mit Gott nicht gut Kirschenessen ... oder Käsekuchenessen ... und wenn dann am liebsten ohne Rosinen.
Verständlich, dass der kleine Kerl annimmt, dass die Sintflut auch seinetwegen stattfinden wird.
Die bekannte Bibelgeschichte rund um Noah und seine Arche wird genutzt, um aus der Perspektive kindlich-naiver Pinguine essenzielle Fragen (die allen Kindern auf der Seele brennen) mit viel Humor auszugestalten.
Eine unterhaltsame und tiefsinnige Geschichte mit vielen kleinen versteckten Botschaften, Weisheiten und Anspielungen.
Lehrreich für Jung und Alt und eine Möglichkeit über Toleranz, Vergebung und Güte zu sprechen. Übrigens ganz gleich, ob man gläubig ist oder nicht.
Fazit:
Ein außergewöhnliches und fast schon philosophisches Lesevergnügen.
Kinder erleben die bekannte Bibelgeschichte aus einer völlig neuen Perspektive.
Wunderschöne Illustrationen erwecken die Charaktere zum Leben.

Po tę - przyznaję - niezwykłą książkę, sięgnęłam głównie ze względu na ilustracje Jarga Muchle'a, którego bardzo lubię za prostotę, celność, spójność i ciepło, które bije z każdego jego obrazka. "O ósmej na arce" napisał Urlich Hub i jest to moje pierwsze spotkanie z tym autorem. Dowiedziałam się, że książeczka została doceniona i jest bardzo popularna... i nie dziwię się, bo napisano ją w przemiłym stylu.
Mamy tutaj wariację na temat historii biblijnej o Arce Noego. Trzy pingwiny kłócą się, aż jedne, mały, odchodzi obrażony. Wtem pojawia się gołąb, który zawiadamia ich o potopie i daje dwa bilety na arkę. Właśnie! DWA BILETY! A ich przecież jest trójka. Jak już wspomniałam, jest świetnie zilustrowana, co całości wiele dodaje. Przepadam za minimalizmem Jorga i zawsze będę wypatrywać książek z jego dziełami. Jeśli maiłabym porównać tę opowieść do czegoś, to chyba do "Flipa i Flapa", ale dla dzieci. Miła, urocza, może mogła być w całości utrzymana w nieco lepszym napięciu i samo rozwiązanie mogło być mniej sentymentalne, ale ogólnie, bardzo mi się podobała.
Rozmowy o Bogu, to chyba słabsza część tej pozycji, bo gdzieś w powietrzu odczuwalny jest banał, ale rozmowy między bohaterami, to w jaki sposób autor ukazał ich przyjaźń, ich rozterki - to jest coś wspaniałego. Myślę, że z perspektywy dziecka, to bardzo ciekawa opowieść, ale i dorosły powinien się z nią zapoznać, bo czyta się to w mig. Ja nie mogła się oderwać.
Pięknie wydana. Zgrabny format. Twarda oprawa. Świetne ilustracje. Porywający humor. Zapadający w pamięć bohaterowie. WARTO sprawdzić.

Drei Pinguine diskutieren über die Existenz von Gott, als es anfängt zu regnen. Es regnet stärker als gewöhnlich. Die Sintflut kommt. Gerade rechtzeitig bringt die Taube noch zwei Tickets für die Arche Noah. Aber was passiert dann mit dem dritten im Bunde und findet die Taube auch eine ruhige Minute auf der Arche?
Das Buch ist 2006 mit dem Deutschen Kinderhörspielpreis und dem Deutschen Kindertheaterpreis ausgezeichnet worden und erzählt die Geschichte um die Arche aus einem etwas anderen Blickwinkel. Was würde man alles für einen Freund tun und wie schmuggelt man einen Pinguin in letzter Minute auf die Arche? Die Geschichte finde ich ganz amüsant geschrieben. Es gibt auch quasi einen Running Gag. Immer bei den Gesprächen über das Ertrinken der anderen Tiere kommt dann sinngemäß „Merken sie schon“ „Das sie ertrinken?“ „Das hast DU gesagt“. Und warum bekommen diese beiden Pinguine die Tickets? Sind sie auserwählt, weil sie so gut/brav/toll sind oder waren sie einfach zur richtigen Zeit am richtigen Ort? Kann man als Pinguin so ungezogen sein, dass man die Schuld an der Sintflut trägt?
Durch die 62 Seiten ist es natürlich recht schnell durchzulesen und auch der Schreibstil ist ziemlich einfach, es ist ja auch ein Kinderbuch ab 8 Jahre. Die Diskussion um Gott, den Glaube und die Welt zieht sich durch das ganze Buch und ist immer leicht geschrieben, macht aber auch nachdenklich. Die cartoonartigen Zeichnungen passen meiner Meinung auch gut zu dem Schreibstil.
Was schönes für zwischendurch. Wie Kinder das Buch finden kann ich nicht beurteilen, weil sich in meinem Umfeld nicht so viele 8-jährige aufhalten.

Τρεις πιγκουίνοι, δυο μεγάλοι κι ένας πιο μικρός, στέκονται και κοιτάζουν το παγωμένο τοπίο. Αναρωτιούνται αν υπάρχει Θεός και αν ο Θεός έφτιαξε τον παγετώνα. Ε, δεν είναι και τίποτα σπουδαίο ο παγετώνας! Όλο χιόνι, πάγο, χιόνι και πάγο.
Μήπως ο Θεός δεν είχε τα κέφια του; Ή μήπως απλώς του λείπει η φαντασία; Πού είναι ο Θεός; Υπάρχει; Κάνει λάθη; Κι αν κάνει τα παραδέχεται; Είναι αλήθεια πως έχει μνήμη ελέφαντα και την καταπληκτική ακοή των δελφινιών; Όλα αυτά συζητούν όταν εμφανίζεται από το πουθενά μια πεταλούδα. Μια πεταλούδα στον παγετώνα δεν είναι συνηθισμένο γεγονός.
Έπειτα ακολουθεί και ένα περιστέρι. Ούτε αυτό είναι κάτι το συνηθισμένο. Τα νέα που τους φέρνει το περιστέρι είναι άσχημα… Οι πιγκουίνοι πρέπει να βιαστούν, αρχίζει ο Κατακλυσμός του Νώε…
Όμως είναι τρεις και στην Κιβωτό επιτρέπονται μόνο ζευγαράκια ζώων.
Είναι τόσο συγκινητικός και ταυτόχρονα τόσο αστείος ο τρόπος με τον οποίο προσπαθούν οι μεγάλοι πιγκουίνοι να σώσουν τον μικρό παίρνοντας τον μαζί τους. Η αγωνία κορυφώνεται όταν το περιστέρι τους υποψιάζεται.
Είναι στιγμές στο βιβλίο που σε κάνουν να ξεκαρδίζεσαι στα γέλια κι άλλες που σε κάνουν να σκεφτείς.
Φιλοσοφικό και μεταφυσικό, θέτει χιουμοριστικά αλλά και με σοβαρότητα πολλά σημαντικά ερωτήματα σχετικά με τον Θεό και τη ζωή μετά το θάνατο χωρίς να δίνει δογματικές απαντήσεις.

Un divertente libro uscito in prima edizione nel 2010 e recentemente ripubblicato; tre pinguini conducono un’esistenza piatta e ripetitiva sul pack fino all’arrivo di una farfalla che uno dei tre uccide senza volerlo entrando in lite con gli altri due: iniziano perciò a dissertare sull’esistenza di Dio che vede tutto e condanna le azioni cattive.
Nel clou della discussione atterra tra di loro una colomba grassa ed un po’ sbronza che annuncia il diluvio universale e li invita a porsi in salvo sull’arca di Noè. Con uno stratagemma chiudono uno di loro in valigia in modo da poter partire regolarmente in due…………….
La storia avrà uno sviluppo inaspettato.
Battute esilaranti e scenette comiche lo fanno somigliare ad un copione teatrale; se non fosse per i pochi personaggi sarebbe adatto per mettere su una bella piece scolastica, ma al di là della leggerezza e della comicità è uno di quei piccoli capolavori che tutti i bambini dovrebbero leggere non appena imparano a farlo discretamente, perché fa ridere e pensare contemporaneamente, portando a riflettere sui tanti dubbi che affliggono l’essere umano.
Spassosissimi i disegni.
Un bel libro, dai 7 anni in poi, per interrogarsi sul mistero dell’esistenza di Dio e sull’accettazione delle diversità.

Ενα πραγματικά φανταστικό βιβλίο για παιδιά 7 ετών και πάνω που πραγματεύεται με πάρα πολύ αστείο τρόπο το ερώτημα Υπάρχει θεός;. Κι αν ναι, που είναι; Γιατί δεν εμφανίζεται; Και γιατί στην Παλαιά Διαθήκη (από όπου και η έμπνευση του έργου) εμφανίζεται να είναι τιμωρός και όχι τόσο συγχωρητικός όσο στην Καινή Διαθήκη; Και τι σχέση μπορεί να έχουν αυτοί οι τρεις πιγκουίνοι, που μεταξύ μας, δεν υπήρχε λόγος και να μπουν στην Κιβωτό αφού ΞΕΡΟΥΝ να κολυμπούν, με την περιστέρα, που όλο κάτι ξεχνάει και δεν μπορεί με τίποτα να θυμηθεί, όσο προσπαθεί – σαν άλλη γραμματέας του Νόε – να μαζέψει στην κιβωτό όλα τα ζωά σε ζευγάρια;
Μια ξεκαρδιστική ιστορία, όμως βαθιά φιλοσοφική, που ασχολείται με μοναδικό τρόπο με το θέμα της θρησκείας, της θρησκοληψίας, της φιλίας και στο τέλος, ακόμα και της διαφορετικότητας, της αγάπης, της ανοχής και της αποδοχής, χωρίς να δίνει στα παιδιά μασημένη τροφή, αλλά πολλές λαβές για να ξεκινήσει μια συζήτηση πάνω στα θέματα αυτά.
