This book was first published in 1985....and it " feels" the "passage" of the time!!!

The story line was interesting and I did like some of the characters - my favourites were definitely the heroine, Bryn Keller's three small nephews. They were so adorable and lovable and they were what made me give this book the 2,5 star rating.

The dialogue...wow....boring, long winded and "dated"...........and at times...totally corny!!!!

I also found the chemistry between the hero/heroine a bit "bland".

I struggled to get into the story and almost gave up!! It was a bit of something like this....

If you like romantic suspense........well, you could do worse!! But this is definitely not a keeper or a reread.

Bryn Keller is a dancer working on rock star Lee Condor's latest music video. She's also a professional photographer doing Lee's publicity photos for him and his band. After the photos are taken, Bryn starts getting phone calls from someone who wants the photos badly enough to threaten her and her three young nephews that are in her care. Bryn can't contact the police, so she must get the photos back from Lee who now has them in his possession. Once Lee finds out what's going on, Bryn and Lee work together to take down the blackmailer.

This book was originally published in 1985, and re-released as part of The Harlequin Famous Firsts Collection. It was a very enjoyable romantic suspense story. I loved the premise of working on a music video. Lee was a very sexy rock star hero, of Native American heritage, and he made some lavish music videos. Bryn was a prickly heroine and she was hostile towards Lee a lot which tended to bug me at times, but it did add to the entertainment value of the story. There were a lot of great characters in this book: Lee's charming bandmates; Bryn's three adorable nephews; a sleazy politician; an amiable golfer; Bryn's friend Barbara. I even thought that the hero's name was pretty cool--Lee Condor. An entertaining read from the '80s and a lot of fun, too.

Bryn Keller, dancer/photographer, is trying to make ends meet while raising her three young nephews--her brother died a year and a half ago and she is now taking care of the boys. She is offered a job to dance in rock star Lee Condor's newest video. She accepts and they start rehearsals at the old Fulton place (an old deserted house that Lee bought and renovated). Along the way she is asked to take some publicity photos of Lee and his band out on a golf course at some Country Club function. After this the action really starts! Someone keeps phoning and threatening Bryn, breaking into her home, for the photos. Who is it? What's in the photos? This book was really exciting and good. I have to say I loved the hero, he was really hot and sexy. Maybe it was because he was part Native American/Indian, maybe it was how he played the drums. The three young boys were cute and I also liked Bryn. A great older Heather Graham romantic-suspense from 1985.

I love Heather Graham's books. One of my favorite series is her "Krewe" Series. And, I realize that this particular book is an older published book of hers (originally published in 1985), but this was not one of my favorites. I spent most of the time wanting to slap the lead woman upside the head. Could she be more stupid? I think not! Sheesh.

This one was a strictly okay oldie with a nice hero but horrid heroine. She was rude, judgy and a shrew and stupid. Just because she had been cheated on by another man and couldn't handle her attraction to the hero she didn't have to be rude to a man who was paying her a lot to be professional. She is also raising her three orphaned nephews and when one of them is kidnapped for a roll of film she is even more stupid. I didn't understand why she didn't go to the police when the threats started. The hero was a saint to put up with her.

Storyline was incredible, funny and sweet. The author writes in a way that you feel your characters, you suffer, laugh and feel the love with them as well as the danger.

Both characters are very cautious and hurt after a previous relationship and you immerse yourself in their struggle to learn to love again. Very good read, should be given a try! You will not be sorry you read it.

Graham has always focused a little more on the romance side than I care for, but it didn't take long for me to realize this one was over the top. A better look at the cover revealed a banner with "The Harlequin Famous Firsts Collection" on it. Ah, yes, that explains that. The premise was actually half decent, but the dialog and writing showed its age (1985). Thankfully it was short.

It was really cute. A few grammatical things that made reading hard to understand. The plot was worth it for me to keep trudging through despite that. The prologue is especially confusing and I wish it was left out. I almost didn’t read the book because of the prologue being confusing but I’m glad instead I skipped reading it. I’m a sucker for a love story and boy, this one delivers.

2.5*

I liked the premise of this book - dancer/photographer gets to work with a rock star and falls for him! However, everything about this book was dated, dialogues were awkward, and action/mystery/suspense was unbelievable, slow, and underwhelming. I read the book translated to a different language, so maybe i can attribute the corny dialogue to bad translation, but slow plot is slow plot - translation can't really change that.
One thing that really bothered me was that the heroine HATED the hero before she even met him! Their introduction was super awkward thanks to her rude behavior ... She decided she hates him before she even met him, just because he is famous! So she gets into the whole working-relationship with him prejudiced, rude, and extremely mean ... I cringed at how she behaved towards him for the first half of the book ! Totally unexplained and unjustified. No, the fact that she's been hurt in the past does NOT justify her being evil to all men who come afterwards.

Prevod:
Spora radnja, junakinja do pola knjige "mrzi" junaka bez ikakvog razloga, junak previse drami ... itd...

A Touch of Mystery ...

This story has romance wrapped up in mystery, plus the rock star zing as extra. Lee is your usual rockstar, but also unique. He’s got insecurities that is also a bit strange. Anyways the love story is there, but what really got the relationship started was the mysterious part of the story. Someone is out to harm Bryn, and they don’t mind if any of her nephews are collateral. As if those kids have not been through enough trauma. I love this story. It’s pure HG...

Intriguing Plot

I love all of Heather Graham's books, but especially love her mysteries and paranormal stories. This one does not disappoint and was very enjoyable both in plot and intrigue. Keeps you guessing! Loved the characters and the ending. Hope Heather considers expanding the characters in another book.

Note to self- and anyone reading this: romance suspense books from the 80’s do not translate to the year 2021 well at all. This felt pretty racist. And sexist. I also can’t decide which was worse, the ridiculous romance or the predictable mystery. Yikes.

Totally knew it was gonna be the golfer!! The politician would have been to obvious. I’m a fan of enemies to lovers so this book wasn’t to bad. I know he’s half Native American but did he really need to use the bow and arrow, it just felt weird and that it didn’t fit the scene.

Fakat bence Stars Of Romance değildi...

Konusu;

And my little walk down memory lane with Ms. Graham comes to an end. This book is stupid. Even in 1985, when originally published, it would have been mostly stupid. I guess I can say I read it in memorium to Prince since Lee is a "musician" - a Julliard-trained rock band drummer. Oh who happens to be half Blackfoot, because of course!
Bryn is raising her orphaned nephews and takes a job as the photographer for publicity shots the band is doing for their latest music-video. (See it's so hip!) She's attracted to Lee, but doesn't want to get involved because her last famous-person boyfriend didn't like her nephews. Lee's attracted to her but can't get involved because his first wife was mentally unstable and killed herself. Of course, he's willing to be all up in her business and try to get her to sleep with him and then be mad when she says no.
She is being blackmailed for her photos but she doesn't know why, doesn't call the police and doesn't tell anyone. What she does do is first try to seduce Lee to get the pictures back (and is all mad when he says no) and then breaks into his house (and is all mad when he catches her and is mad at her). Then the both of them continue to be idiots while one of her nephews is kidnapped - and held for a week! - while they pout and wonder why the other one is all mad. Of course, neither of them really talk to each other.
But all is well in the end because Lee wants a big family and Bryn isn't scared of his "savageness." Ugh.

The idea of the story was great and the characters were amazing.....but the dialogue was beyond corny in the love scenes and nervous scenes. The end of the epilogue was just pointless and could have been 100 times better. Seriously? One with the night under moonlight to move like a panther and make love by a river bend? Psh please. Other than the corny crap, I would highly recommend this book to others.

I loved this fast-paced suspense story. It grabbed from the very beginning and kept me reading all day. I couldn't put it down.

I would have to say that Lee Condor was my favorite hero in a while. Bryn Kellar was interesting and an enigma. I can recommend this read if you like romantic suspense. It is part of Harlequin's Famous First Collection.

I could hardly bring myself to finish it. It had promise, but the characters and verbal banter were boring and too polite. It almost seemed as if the book was written in the early 80s even though it says published 2009. I usually like Heather Graham but this was just atrocious.
