This is book #1 in a duology set (SEALs on Vacation) in Roxanne St. Claire's Barefoot Bay Kindle World. It can be read on its own, but also read Seduced By The Best Man by Zoe York for Garrett's brother's story!
USA Today bestselling author Kat Cantrell read her first Harlequin novel in third grade and has been scribbling in notebooks since she learned to spell. What else would she write but romance?

I don't like the way the story was told. It couldn’t strike a balance between the dialogue and narrative. It seemed like this book came with a heavy dose of the conversation between Garrett and Callie which I found more boring than entertaining. I needed a little more of the story to keep me interested, but unfortunately, I didn’t get what I wanted. While reading this, I thought many times about putting it aside to start reading something else. Now I’m wondering why I didn’t do as I thought!
To be honest, the book could conveniently have been reduced to half its length.
What didn’t work for me:
1. Garrett kept pushing Callie away. (I hate this kind of hero.)
2. When he told her what had happened between them was just a vacation fling and there was no reason for both of them to see each other again after this, she kept asking (almost begging) him to give their relationship a try. Oh please! Did she seriously want this jerk?
3. There was no groveling when, in fact, it was needed. Gosh, this was a big NO for me! He hurt her feelings because he was a coward, but when he came to realize that he loved her, he only texted her and she was already on her way to his place! Oh, come on, grow some self-respect and make a man get down on his knees and grovel for forgiveness, woman! *shakes head in disappointment*
The blurb made this book sound like a fun read, but sadly, it didn’t hit the mark for me overall. Perhaps my expectations of it were set a bit too high.
Delightful read! Baby Seal, Garrett Van Doren, finds himself in beautiful Barefoot Bay for his wedding, however he winds up alone when his fiancé runs off. SYNOPSIS: Jilted groom Garrett Van Doren didn’t expect to spend his wedding night alone. But finding Callie Jones in his bed—naked—also wasn’t in the plan. The mortifying hotel room mix up never should have happened but Garrett needs someone to keep him from jumping into the next relationship too fast. Callie is determined to seduce his brother to get herself out of a dating rut. What else can they do except join forces? But Operation: Romeo takes an unexpected twist when Callie realizes she was in the right bed all along—Garrett’s. And the determined Navy SEAL is trying to set her up with his brother…
MY THOUGHTS: This was a fun novella to read and the first time I have read anything in the Barefoot Bay Kindle World. This is also the first time I have read this author and I plan to read more of her work. I also want to read the story of Garrett’s brother, as there is a parallel story going on by another author. I have found I enjoy reading in the Kindle World!
The author has a great writing style and her characters are terrific. There is good substance to the storyline even though it is a novella. The characters have amazing chemistry! If you want a fun, quick love story, then this is the book for you!

Garrett just narrowly escaped a wedding disaster (his own) when his bride to be left him at the altar. He knows he jumps into relationships too fast (this proves it!) and that he needs to take things more slowly next time. When he ends up in bed with one of the bridesmaids in a fluke scenario (she thought she'd be seducing his twin brother Dylan) he knows to keep his heart out of the picture. In fact, he's determined to help her with her original quest (though his brother isn't being very cooperative - if you want to know why, you'll want to read the other half of this duology (which like this one, can be read as a standalone)- Seducing the Best Man by Zoe York). The result is some fun and steamy scenes as Callie and Garrett inevitably wind up together. Knowing that the marriage he almost had would never have worked out (and that both bride and groom are on the same page and neither is heartbroken) makes it easier to accept that Garrett would so quickly be interested in someone else, a woman who obviously understands him much better. As the clock winds down on the resort vacation, they both realize that they want more but take their time achieving it, determined not to rush things. It's a realistic ending to their story, and a happy one too.

In Operation: Romeo we get to spend a week in paradise, or the beautiful Florida beach. But even in paradise there is heartbreak. And even though we need and love men, they can be boneheads. These characters are so well formed through background and their interactions that we know them and hurt when they do. And cheer when they triumph. Grab a tissue you'll need it.
Callie has had enough of planning out her life...she's ready to be impulsive and just go after what she wants...Dylan Van Doren. And that is why when Garrett Van Doren, who was recently jilted at the altar and didn't want to sleep in the honeymoon suite, switches rooms with his identical twin brother, finds Callie naked in his bed in the dark. He's all ready to take what she's giving despite suspicions that he's not the guy she was waiting for...when she confirms it. All things grind to a halt and Callie is mortified to discover she's got the wrong brother. But she and Garrett get to talking about being members of the reject club and come up with Operation: Romeo. He'll help her get Dylan and she'll keep him from jumping impulsively into a relationship while on this vacation. Unfortunately for Callie, only days into the Operation, she begins to realize that it's Garrett she wants, not Dylan, and he's completely unavailable for her purposes. But when she discusses it with him, she finds he's absolutely available for a fling...just not a relationship. But after the most incredible night of her life, Callie realizes it's the relationship she wants...not the fling.
Took me forever to read this really short book. I was initially super turned off by Callie's actions in trying to get Dylan. What kind of person steals a hotel room key card, strips off and waits for them unknowingly in the dark to crawl into bed. I mean, if that had been me crawling into bed and some strange guy lurking there naked...see me calling the police for attempted rape. The fact that Callie is a woman shouldn't change the creep factor in that. It's still a form of sexual assault. It really turned me off of her...unlike Garrett who found it super sexy that she went after what she wanted. Of course then she tries to go after the relationship and Garrett is all - no way, no how - even though he probably suspected she'd get all feely for him because she'd never done no-strings before. This relationship was just a little on the weird side overall, since he's supposedly prepping her for his twin brother. Then the ending was just so underwhelming. There's a nice bit of angst as Garrett rejects Callie and hurts her pretty badly. Then a week or so later he's at home and realizing how miserable he is without her and so he texts her, invites her to his place and she drops everything and comes over, no questions asked. He didn't grovel and she didn't make him work for it. And even in the epilogue, as she's asking him to marry her (the whole going after what you want theme again, and I appreciate that it's still a thing and comes full circle...even if I didn't like how she went after what she wanted in the first place), they still haven't said I love you to each other. The whole thing was kinda meh for me...had some good parts, but I honestly kept getting confused over who was avoiding impulse and who was trying to be more impulsive. Because neither of them was sticking to it.

Garrett and Callie were so polar opposite but oh so perfect for each other. Poor Garrett was left at the alter and accidentally finds a woman in his bed. The best mistake ever.
Impulsive Seal Garrett is left at the alter. Planner Callie tries to be impulsive & swipes the spare key card of someone she wants to seduce & goes to wait for him in his room. Garrett convinces his twin brother to change rooms so he doesn't have to stay in the honeymoon suite. Will the wrong bed end up being the right one in the end?
Operation: Romeo is a wonderful, entertaining quick read. Callie's wit is so quick & sarcastic! She just makes this story! It was such a change from the typical female that does anything to make sure the guy likes her. Callie lets her true nature come through. Garrett is fighting his human nature when he tries to be less impulsive & plan more. I loved their interactions & the way they tried to fight their normal instincts! Loved this one & you will too! I did receive an advance copy from the author.
Jilted groom Garrett and bridesmaid Callie meet when she tries to surprise his twin brother in his bed, not aware that the men had switched rooms. They decide to spend time together to help Garrett recover from his failed wedding and for Callie to learn to be more spontaneous. While Garrett tries to encourage Callie to go after his brother, Callie finds that she may be more interested in Garrett. Their attraction is off the charts but will Garrett get over his trepidation to fall quickly for someone after the fiasco of his bride jilting him at the altar? This page turner was enhanced with the overall cuteness of their surprise vacation and their surprising connection.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
This is my first Kat Cantrell read and my first time reading in the Barefoot Bay kindle world. I loved this story of the jilted groom who is mistaken for his twin brother and finds that an island fling can be so much more. I don't recall reading a connected twin story before and loved both the concept and execution. The second half of this story, Seduced by the Best Man, written by one of my favorite authors, Zoe York completes this fun, sexy, romantic getaway to the bay. Pick these companion stories up, you won't regret it.
Garrett Van Doren <3 He's sexy and sweet and takes care of Callie in spite of being hurt himself. It's full of awkward moments along with steamy ones and just the perfect little book!
What can I say, a duology by two of my favorite authors, Operation Romeo by Kat Cantrell and Seduced by the Best Man by Zoe York about SEAL twins Garrett and Dylan van Doren. FANTASTIC reads both. But this review is about Ms. Cantrell’s book. Garrett has just been jilted at the altar because of that impulsive streak that he has. After a night of drowning his sorrows, Garrett goes to his brother’s hotel room, he and Dylan switched rooms, he does not want to spend the rest of his stay in the “Honeymoon” suite. He does not bother with the light, he strips, and climbs into bed. Wait a minute, a bed that is already populated. Before he has a chance to say anything, he is being kissed. “Kiss me again, Dylan.” “I think there’s been a mistake.” “Garrett?” So, begins Callie’s one and only time of trying to be impulsive and this happens. Callie, the person that has her life on a spreadsheet 5 years out. The one who always plans out everything. “We should start a club. All Star Rejects. You can’t get married, and I can’t figure out how to seduce a guy.” After a night of talking, Garrett tells Callie he will help her with his brother Dylan, if she helps shield him from the women trying to comfort him over being jilted. She agrees, only one major problem… The plan is backfiring, and they start to fall for each other. This is a wonderful story of love, and what happens when you find the right person. I laughed and cried reading this book. I wanted to punch Garrett when he… Stop! No spoilers. I loved the way Ms. Cantrell and Ms. York bounced these two stories thru each of the books. You can read each by themselves, but I got more out of reading both. Fantastic read Ms. Cantrell, I can always count on you for a great read. Thank you!!! Thank you for reading my review.
Callie is trying to get out of her romantic rut, and waiting naked in the bed of Dylan Van Doren, the hot Navy SEAL whose twin brother Garrett is--or rather was--engaged to Callie's best friend Simone is key to her effort to be more spontaneous. Garrett switches rooms with his brother following being jilted at the alter so he doesn't have to be alone in the honeymoon suite and he's willing to go with the flow when he finds a naked woman in his bed. But being impulsive is what got him jilted in the first place, and falling for the woman who is interested his brother is exactly the kind of thing he should be avoiding.
The author did a really nice job with the set-up for this comedy of errors kind of story. Both Callie and Garrett had good reasons for their natural responses to situations and equally good reasons to want to change. There was a lot of chemistry between the two, and though their relationship developed quickly, they developed a nice friendship before getting intimate. I would have liked just a little more more depth with some discussion on how Callie the planner dealt with the on-call, need-to-know nature of a Navy SEAL's life, but that wasn't really possible given the length of the story.
This was a short, sweet, funny and entertaining read focused almost exclusively on Callie and Garrett, with just enough of an appearance from Dylan to make me want to read his story. 4.5 stars
This was a really cute story. Callie is a planner, and for once she just wanted to be impulsive and try and make a play for the guy she has a crush on. Little does she know it's not his bed she ends up in when she sneaks into his room. Dylan switched rooms with his brother Garret who was just left at the alter by his fiance. After being mortified at finding she's in bed with the wrong brother she goes to leave, but Garret convinces her to stay, just to talk. Callie and Garret decide to enact Operation Romeo, where Callie will keep the single ladies away from Garret so he doesn't get tempted after being jilted at the alter, and in exchange Garret will give her the details on Dylan so she can hopefully ask him out.
What starts out as a simple plan becomes complicated fast. When Callie realizes Garret is really the brother she wants, how will she tell Garret? She's supposed to be the one keeping him away from women. Garret knows that he has feelings for Callie, but he doesn't want to make the mistake of jumping into a relationship again. What happens when the truth comes out?
This novella was super cute, and the ending was adorable! I've never read any of the Barefoot Bay stories before, and it didn't matter. It's a standalone. I highly recommend this one :)
Where to start with Callie and Garrett?!? They were just way too fun from start to finish!
Of course, the beginning of the book starts with Garrett getting left up at the alter on the day of his wedding, ugh! And you really want to feel bad for him, BUT part of you also wants to smack him because you knowww that this wasn't the right decision for him to begin with! So after drowning his sorrows in some wine, he heads back to his room and ends up in bed with Callie! That was a fun scene to watch play out! :)
Callie was so much fun, and a very relatable character to me. She does things as a woman that you find so quirky and charming. Admit it, we all overthink things with men, plan too far ahead, think things we just shouldn't! And she doesn't want that to get her into trouble. So she convinces Garrett to help her win over his brother Dylan. Well, little do they know, he's off on his OWN adventure at the resort at the same time!
Once these two finally got out of their own way, and realized that planning and impulsiveness CAN go together like peanut butter and jelly, what you are left with is one practically perfect couple. Such a cute addition to Barefoot Bay, and I absolutely LOVED how the book tied to Zoe's. Just get these, you won't regret it!
So. Much. Fun! What's a guy to do when he's left at the altar?? Drink. A lot! Trade rooms with your best man brother. Fall into bed with a gorgeous woman! Wait! - What?? That last one wasn't suppose to happen but it did so - let's roll with it! Only she's there waiting for his brother. Yeah, that will put the brakes on fast. Well that and he was suppose to get married like two minutes ago. Garrett Van Doren is definitely a man who needs to learn to take things a bit slower. Not jump so fast. Callie Jones - said woman in the bed - is trying to learn to be more spontaneous. Go after the things she really wants. It didn't work out so well this time but there's no reason to give up so Garrett and Callie make a deal. He'll help her be spontaneous and set her up with his brother and she'll help keep him in check not to do anything rash. Should work out fine, right?? We'll see....
This was fun quick read that just left me feeling happy! I highly recommend it. Check out Garrett's brother Dylan's story in Seduced by the Best Man
This is a standalone novella of the Barefoot Bay Kindle Worlds, but since it is about the Van Doren twins (Dylan and Garret) you should will double enjoy it with Zoe York's Seduced by the best Man. I highly recommend you read both because they are fun, sexy and entertaining. Garret was left by his fiance on their wedding day in a wonderful beach resort and although he is a hot Navy Seal he got hurt. Here comes California, Callie, she was friends with the former fiance and is in Barefoot Bay to see if she can be more spontaneous and spread sheet free in her life. She intends to seduce Garret's twin brother Dylan and ask for his help. There begins the fun Operation Romeo which backfire on both of them... Needles to say that Callie soon forgets about Dylan and begin to focus on the other twin who has a very broken heart... I love both Zoe York and Cat Cantrell' books, they bring fresh modern romances with interesting characters that really growth on you. This book is so sweet and sexy that you will really feel that you know Garret and Callie. These characters look like your best friends and you will love them!

A Jilted Groom, An Impulsive Act and a Beautiful Vacation Paradise Equals Finding Your One TRUE Love of a Lifetime! A MUST READ!
Operation Romeo is a standalone novella in the Barefoot Bay series. As usual Kat Cantrell does NOT disappoint. I LOVED THIS BOOK and couldn’t put it down.
This is a sweet, sexy, funny, steamy and romantic book about trusting your instincts and listening to what your heart is really telling you. It is fast paced with some fun and interesting twists. The writing is Awesome and it has a fun and entertaining plot of being left at the altar. Its characters, Callie and Garret, are well developed and the story line is actually believable. You can see this really happening to yourself or a close friend.
As it is about a set of Navy SEAL twins, Garret and Dylan Van Doren, you will enjoy it even more if you read the next book in the series Seduced by the Best Man by Zoe York.
As a thank you to the author, I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
What a fun read! Callie is her friend Simone's wedding party when Simone takes off and leaves the groom, Garrett standing at the altar. Callie is someone who plans everything out and never takes any chances. Garrett's best man is his twin brother, Dylan. Dylan and Callie had flirted a bit so Callie thought she'd become impulsive and snuck into Dylan's bed and surprise him. Little did she know that Garrett and Dylan switched rooms and she ended up naked in bed with the jilted groom. After a brief make out session, the two of them decide to team up and call themselves the All Star Rejects. Dylan has agreed to help Callie become more impulsive and he's going to help her seduce his brother. Although the more time they spend together, the more they realize that they have great chemistry. Will they tell each other the truth? What will happen when their week away is over? Grab the book to find out what happens with this trio.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I absolutely loved this story! This was my first Kat Cantrell book, and I'll definitely be back for more! She has a way with words and expressing emotions that drew me in. I adored Callie and Garrett and their love story. I've always been a sucker for the friends to lovers trope. Even though their friendship was very short, it felt like they had been friends for years. I loved everything about their relationship. They could truly be themselves with each other, and they were completely open and honest. I'm glad they didn't beat around the bush when it came to discussing their feelings. There had to be a little holding back, but they let go when it mattered. I also love how Kat threw these two together and kept things real. While we all want to get to the sexy stuff in a romance, sometimes it makes since to wait. And Kat did a fabulous job of building the tension.
Operation Romeo by Kat Cantrell is another delightful Barefoot Bay Kindle World novellas. It is a fun quick read and deals with a SEAL and supposed to be groom. Many of the weddings go well at Casa Blanca but here is what happens when they don’t. Of course, it’s no fault concerning the resort. I felt for both Garrett and Callie. They needed someone who would love and appreciate them for who they were. I liked how they got to know each other before jumping into a relationship. Of course, that is not counting how the book first throws them together. However, as they get acquainted we also learn much about each of the characters, Callie and Garrett.
This is a non-serious look at love; what can happen when it goes wrong and what can happen when it goes so right. Not too deep of a read with less than 10 chapters but an amusing one worth the time it takes to read.
A complimentary ARC of the book was given to me by the author.
Garrett has literally been left at the altar. Everyone has gone to Florida for his destination wedding, including his SEAL team. After getting very drunk, he trades rooms with his twin brother and finds a naked woman in the bed when he crawls in. He enjoys the moment briefly, then puts a stop to her advances because he knows she was there for his brother. They, he and Callie, form an unlikely friendship. He agrees to help her hook up with his brother and she agrees to keep women away from him. This doesn't work well since she wants him but can't have him due to her being friends with the runaway bride, and he just lost his relationship and has a bad habit of jumping in and impulse control. But they really want each other and their friendship then has benefits, until the difficult talk where he says they can't be together due to his issues.
This was the first book I read of this series and now I really want to read more!
Cantrell and York team up to write twins Garrett and Dylan into the Barefoot Bay kindle world. Even though I haven't read the Barefoot series the novella was a complete story on its own. I'm actually unaware of how it connects but I will definitely be finding out. Cantrell has given us Garrett's story as the Navy Seal just got dumped at the altar. His ex fiance's friend, Callie, tried to let loose and give her seduction tactics a whirl. Callie is the girl you want for a friend, her sassy humor and sarcastic whit are perfect. Garrett, our jilted groom, is a bit lost but Callie helps to redirect him. One honest mistake turns into a mission that neither could complete until they opened their hearts. Join York in Seducing the Best Man for Dylan's story. My copy was given by the author and I have voluntarily given my review.
This is a Kindle World book that is part of the Barefoot Bay series. The Barefoot Bay series is written by Roxanne St. Claire, but this book is a great addition and it is written by Kat Cantrell, another author I enjoy.
This was a quick easy read. Very funny, sweet, and sexy. Garret and Callie's initial meeting was rather unusual, but there was an immediate attraction between them. The lead up to the sexiness was just enough to be titillating. The dialogue was smart, funny, and slightly sarcastic. Garrett and Callie started out as friends, which is always a plus for me in books.
I was able to read this book in one very enjoyable sitting. If you are looking for some light hearted fun with very little to no angst, this is the book.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. And I am glad I did! It lifted my spirits this weekend.
Thoroughly enjoyed this Novella Callie has a wonderful personality & Garret has an instant chemistry attraction to Her She has decided to be more spontaneous with Her Life & feels the need to explore Her attraction to Garrets twin brother Dylan. He decides to help her in Her Quest but finds Himself drawn to Her more each day. After failing in gaining a response from Dylan mainly because her feelings have changed dramatically Garret & Callie react to emotional feelings they have for each other. They are Incredibly together but Garret has reservations of an ongoing relationship because of his Past & so much to Callies heartfelt regret they part. But Love has a way of sneaking up on you and not letting you go. Wonderful Story Truly enjoyed reading it. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest opinion.
Loved it. My first book by Kat Cantrell. When Callie makes a mistake of epic proportions she is so embarrassed to say the least. The thing is the man doesn't seem to man. She may have had ended up in bed with the wrong brother or make the right one. It doesn't make sense why he would help her go after the one she wanted to begin with.
The fun begins when "Operation Romeo" goes into effect.
The last thing Garrett Van Doren expects is a naked women in his bed. He knows her too. What's he supposed to do? To top it off she wants his brother.
See what happens when Garrett helps Callie.
Highly recommend. Read-Seduced by the Best Man by Zoe York story which is About Dylan Van Doren
I have not read any of the Barefoot Bay books but after reading this story it makes me want to order them and start the series. Garrett and Callie do not get together under ideal circumstances. Garrett has been left at the alter by Callie's friend Simone. Callie thinks she has the hots for Garrett's brother Dylan only to realize that it's Garrett she really likes. Except Garrett wants to change his spontaneous ways and thinks rushing into relationship with Callie could be a mistake. The two of them are funny and really understand each other. Where Garrett is spontaneous, Callie is planned and predictable. They both get each other out of their comfort zones and balance each other out. I loved this story and can't wait to read Garrett's brother Dylan's story but Zoe York too.
This book can be read alone but I highly recommend Seduced by the Best Man be read first. You will want to anyway. These two stories weave together seamlessly as if they were written by the same author.
Garrett the jilted groom switches rooms with his twin Dylan, also a Seal, and climbs into bed to find Calliee, naked, and thinking he is his brother. Garrett might not regret his aborted wedding but he is lonely so he doesn't let her flea and they come up with Operation Romeo to help Callie seduce his brother.
So sweet and hilarious. There is a lot more to both characters than meets the eye. This was so much fun to read and so very very hot.
Operation: Romeo by Kat Cantrell features a jilted groom who finds himself alone…well, except for the naked woman in his bed. Callie is out to seduce Garret’s brother, in order to get out of her dating rut and Garrett decides to help Callie, in order to get his mind of relationships. Garrett jumps into relationships pretty fast and he needs something to distract him. Callie is definitely a distraction, but not in the way you think. Callie and Garrett spend more time together and feelings develop. Will Garrett allow himself to fall again and will Callie realize she’s after the wrong brother? Read to find out. Well-written and highly recommended!
