The Girl Across the Hall

Rate this book
Noah Granger likes his life uncomplicated and drama free. Though he’s grown weary of trolling clubs for casual hookups, he doesn't date and he doesn't do relationship—ever. Lately, he’s become obsessed with the shy beauty across the hall. He knows she’s not his usual type, but it can’t hurt to ask….

Zoe Browning can't believe that Noah, her seriously hot neighbor, is interested in her. But when Noah suggests a no-strings affair, her answer is an emphatic no. The guy is a player and a pervert. He's always got a different girl on his arm and he always stares at her as though he can see through her bulky clothes.

Undaunted by her refusal, Noah decides they will be friends—at least until he can convince Zoe that they can be much more.

Please, IRR authors, stop:

1) giving your black female protagonist long, curly hair and Native American ancestry. Your self hatred is showing.

2) making your female protagonist a near virgin and your male protagonist exceedingly promiscuous. Enough with the gender biases.

3) publishing books filled with grammatical errors, missing words, misused words, and other careless copy editing issues. Doing so showcases a serious lack of professionalism.

I have only read about 2 other books by this author. However, I absolutely loved this one. This is my kind of romance story. I loved every second of this story. I loved how Noah pursued and defended Zoe and if he thought she was unset or some one upset he would take them on. This was just a great story. I would highly recommend it.

Zoe never thought a man like Noah would be interested in her. Oh, Zoe knew she was definitely know ugly duckling, but she'd seen the women he dated and knew she had nothing in common with those women. So why was The Pervert, as she referred to him, knocking on her door?
Noah would admit, Zoe is nothing like the women he usually dated. But there's just some about Zoe that has him taking notice whenever he sees her. He knows there's something special about this shy blossom and he's determined to be the one to help her bloom .
Zoe and Noah's story hooked me from he beginning to end. They were both so relatable and had me cheering them on the entire story. My only issue with them was at the first sign of conflict between them, they both leaned away from each other instead of leaning on each other. The attraction and chemistry between them was felt from the start, which made for some very passionate love scenes. Of course you had your interfering friends and family that made for some drama, but in the end led to a very sweet and loving happily ever after. I'm giving this one 5 stars.

3.0⭐️ This was a delightful story about two polar opposites who are neighbors but end up getting romantically involved. Noah is a gregarious, outgoing, and very attractive man; in other words, Noah is a man-whore who has never dated or been in a committed relationship— he’s a fuck’em until he’s bored, then drop’em kind of guy. Zoe, on the other hand, is painfully shy and socially inept. Her clothes are several sizes too big, she wears her hair in a bun and my impression is that she is rather frumpy. Zoe doesn’t do casual sex. Noah notices Zoe and is intrigued. Why? I have no idea. All we are told is that she has long hair, big boobs and is gorgeous. I don’t know why Noah is attracted to her given her frumpiness. Nevertheless, they are a charming couple.

I liked Noah and his personality, but not his whorish ways. After becoming friends with Zoe he did redeem himself. I admire Noah for treating Zoe with the utmost respect, and for honoring her request that she be given time to make a decision about them dating and having sex.

I completely understand and empathize with Zoe’s distressing shyness and awkwardness in social situations. Having said that, I found Zoe to be a doormat extraordinaire. She let herself be bullied or manipulated by her cousin, Felicia. She would say no in a way designed to extricate herself from a situation without hurting the other person’s feelings or she simply would capitulate. She failed to speak up for herself whenever she was disrespected or condescended to. Her self-worth lay dormant. I think Noah was of some help to Zoe; however, there comes a time when saying no should have meaning. I prefer heroines who are assertive and who put on their big girl panties and handle her business.

For those inquiring minds, the sexual interludes were frequent and steamy, but did not rise to the level of eroticism. There were a few glaring editing problems, but not quite enough to hinder the enjoyment of the book.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable read.

Another hit!

I recently was talking to a friend about how long we've been Thayer King fans and now I see why. The Girl Across the Hall is everything I love about Thayer King's writing. The story was amazing and I loved every second of it. I've been a fan since my first Thayer King read, Whimsy, years ago and I'll continue to be a huge fan as long as Thayer King is an author. Great read!

Super Cute!

Cute story. Zoe and Noah where adorable. I love how Noah saw right through Zoes baggy clothes and shyness to see the beauty within, and how Noah, done with a different woman every weekend, fought to get the beautiful girl across the hall to give him a chance. I liked it,will put in my re-read pile

I usually hate leaving books unread but I just couldnt go on with this one.
So many spelling errors, missing words, wrong words that it was actually giving me a headache.

There was no breaks between each MC so you literally had to read a few sentences to see who was talking.

The MC was annoying as hell and I didnt care too much for Noah either. Couldnt connect with either of them. Loads and loads of high star ratings about this one but I'm baffled as to how really. Just wasnt for me

😊 Not Bad.

Well I must say this one had me chuckling start to finish...Noah was such an ass..But an adorable one😂😀😆 Don't know how any woman couldn't see through that!!😊😅 Zoe...frikken adorable and it's a hoot watching them both evolve. Of course as soon as Avery was introduced into the mix I knew she had it for Noah. All of the supporting characters..just perfect from Felicia to Ty and even Noah's parents .. Loved them all.

I thorough enjoyed this short read. Once I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down.

Noah started out as a player who ran from commitment. He had never had a girlfriend in his adult life. He was a serial dater who loved his life. Enter Zoe. She was his neighbor, living directly across the hall. From the day she moved in he was enamored. He couldn’t take his eyes off her, even when another woman was hanging in his arm.

Zoe was a shy IT Tech who preferred staying in her apartment playing games on her phone or watching tv. She ate take out and hibernated in her apartment for the weekend, every weekend. She wore oversized clothes to avoid the lecherous stares of men and tried her best to avoid attention.

No matter what Zoe did to hide her body and avoid men, she couldn’t hide from Noah. He was a man on a mission to get what he wanted. Throw in a jealous best friend and a self centered cousin and this story made for one fun ride.

Noah turned into quite a catch and Zoe a heartthrob. They made a great couple and I couldn’t wait for them to get their HEA.

Whenever I read ir books I am skeptical when they labeled dark skinned ppl as unattractive. And was kind of leery when Henry was described. Some people like/ write IR bc of self hate and if an author appears to be that way I’m immediately put off and on guard. Not saying this is the case but after reading
that line, I’m alert.

Zoe’s cousin Felicia is stuck up

I’m sure Avery wants Noah. That’s why she’s acting like that about Zoe.

The author needs to work on making it obvious when the same character is transitioning to a new scene. I get thrown off. Perhaps make the spacing larger or use *** like when she switches from character POV.

The ily’s came out of nowhere to me...

I can’t believe I actually like Felicia. She came through when it counted.

I feel sorry for Patrick. Avery won’t be able to love him like he deserves.

Overall this was an ok book. Some times I felt Noah was a little too vulgar with Zoe. That was one of my biggest issue with him

A slow build

To be honest, I almost stopped reading this story. It was a slow to at first. Zoe was shy but Noah was determined. He was tired of being a one night stand. Zoe was the final piece. Not right of way but pretty quick.
The supporting cast of friends and family helped this love story move along. Felicia and Avery were a piece of work. Avery wasn't very subtle about her issues. Too bad Noah was blind to his best female friends slights to Zoe. Good friends like Ty set Noah straight.
Overall a good read with good feelings all around.

Damn. How am I barely discovering this author?

She writes the most amazing, alpha, obsessive heroes, conniving bitch-ass OW and heroines that don’t make me want to slap them every other page.

Another good read. Finished in one sitting.

Interesting plot
Adorable MC dynamic
Groveling
Well leveled drama
Swoony’ hero
Soft, calm heroine
HEA

My only issue with this read is the amount of grammatical errors. It needs to be cleaned up. Stat.

I would go further into detail but it’s currently 4 am and because of this book, I’ve had no desire to sleep.

I work at 7 am.

Worth it.

Second time even better!

This is the second time I've read that story and I love it all the same. I like the venue that the story took place, it makes it real. I feel like I witnessed the budding love of two neighbors. It was not about a millionaire saving a damsel in distress, but two hard working individual finding love overtime. Well done Mrs. King!

Super cute! Kinda basic, but I love basic sometimes. It kinda was spiced up by the addition of Avery, who I weirdly feel bad for. This girl was waiting her whole life for her friends to lovers Slow Burn, but the story turned out to be a neighbors to lovers Insta love, and she’s the villain! Girrrrrl. Poor girl. And now she’s settling for the guy that proposed to her, lol.

Anyways, 3.75⭐️

Taught each other...

Zoe and Noah were perfect for each other. Totally opposite but made for each other. They each taught one another things that they didn't know they wanted. It was a good story and the characters were well written. My first book by this author and looking forward to my next book.

Thayer King is one of my favorite author’s as she writes charming stories with relatable characters and adds believable dramedy to her stories. Her latest book, The Girl Across The Hall, is the appealing story of shy Zoe and playboy Noah. Zoe lives across from Noah. She sees his as a gorgeous skirt chaser and is surprised when he approaches her in romantic interest. He’s attracted Zoe and not serious initially but their encounters quickly grow deep. I really enjoyed these two characters and their relationship is a joy to read. There are a few moments in which I laughed out loud while reading, like the elevator scene with Zoe, Noah, and his best friend. Zoe and Noah’s road has several bumps along the way, not just her initial reticence but also others’ skepticism and another’s jealousy.

I totally recommend this funny, sexy book. You won’t be disappointed.
