Enid Mary Blyton (1897–1968) was an English author of children's books.
Born in South London, Blyton was the eldest of three children, and showed an early interest in music and reading. She was educated at St. Christopher's School, Beckenham, and - having decided not to pursue her music - at Ipswich High School, where she trained as a kindergarten teacher. She taught for five years before her 1924 marriage to editor Hugh Pollock, with whom she had two daughters. This marriage ended in divorce, and Blyton remarried in 1943, to surgeon Kenneth Fraser Darrell Waters. She died in 1968, one year after her second husband.
Blyton was a prolific author of children's books, who penned an estimated 800 books over about 40 years. Her stories were often either children's adventure and mystery stories, or fantasies involving magic. Notable series include: The Famous Five, The Secret Seven, The Five Find-Outers, Noddy, The Wishing Chair, Mallory Towers, and St. Clare's.
According to the Index Translationum, Blyton was the fifth most popular author in the world in 2007, coming after Lenin but ahead of Shakespeare.
I loved reading Enid Blyton as a child and spotted this in my local library and thought it would be perfect to get my son into Enid Blyton books too and it was a great success. Malaki loved all the characters and is looking forward to the next book

Bikin pengen ngemil :D
We're delighted you read "The Land of Goodies" by Enid Blyton. This enchanting story not only took you on a journey filled with delicious adventures but also taught the importance of moderation and the value of making wise choices.
A new idea you learned is that too much of a good thing can sometimes be not so good. Just like the characters discovered, it's important to enjoy treats and pleasures in moderation and make healthy choices. You can use this lesson by enjoying your favorite things but also knowing when it's enough, whether it's sweets, screen time, or play.
Keep making wise choices and finding balance, Qamar. Your ability to enjoy life's treats wisely is a wonderful skill.
The pictures are a bit anachronistic (Twenty-first century children do not do ironing and mend tables! and I'm pretty sure muffins in the 1930s in England were not American muffins), but my daughter (5) loves them. Just be aware that you can buy the whole series with a few stories in each book much cheaper, so you're buying this book for the pictures. At the moment I'm sticking with getting these out of the library, because they're too expensive to buy for just one chapter from the original book.
I loved reading Enid Blyton as a child. How wonderful to find a simple version of one of the Faraway Tree stories with colour illustrations. Miss 3 enjoyed it (apart from the yelling people near the end). It's certainly a wish fulfillment story aimed at children - hard not to enjoy a story of a magical land full of free and wonderful food including candy houses.
Certain things in the book seemed outdated but nevertheless, the Faraway Tree has a special place for me. I wonder how many generations have read this series so far?
nicely written. It's a land every child has dreamt of. however, this was not as engaging as the land of toys. missed a strong premises. nevertheless, indulgent read.
