3 SHUT UP STARS

This is the story of Jonas a rich widower who has lost his wife and child in an accident and Thalia a young woman who works for him. He makes he become his mistress by having her sign a contract and dominating the whole relationship. Including when, where, and how they have sex!

description

After reading this whole book I can honestly give this a review. I will say that this book was BAD because it was not up to JS usual.
However, for me the thing that stood out the most was the missing male perspective.
If anyone who knows JS usual writing, it's filled with mostly the male POV. This is one time I would have actually enjoyed some of that. I would have like to understand more about his crappy treatment of her here.
Instead we get this:
"Don’t I deserve better? Don’t I deserve someone to hold me at night, to wake up next to me in the morning? Don’t I deserve someone who wanted all of me? What had I done? To let myself fall in love with a man of whom I knew there was no hope of him ever returning the sentiment was beyond stupid. I’d rolled the dice and lost, and whatever might’ve been with time, was going to die a swift death very soon."
She thinks after he leaves her after silent sex.
She goes back and forth with the idea of leaving his controlling ass. He is a cold selfish bastard who is only thinking of what he wants and what makes him happy.

description

When we finally get to the last 2 chapters, we get the Jonas POV. His thoughts in relations to his actions. :
"When I think about that contract now, I’m almost ashamed. Not so much about the contract, but some of the things I’d asked of her. I’d made her pay for someone else’s fuck-ups."
"If there is such a thing as a soul mate she’s mine. I’ve never felt more complete, more worthwhile than I do now. She and our daughter are the best part of my day, everyday. No matter what else is going on in my life, the business, which was flourishing, the millions I make. None of it comes close to what those two bring to me."

description

SAFETY and triggers: faithful no cheating, no OM/OW drama other than the hero punishing the heroine for his wife's cheating, NO CONDOMS AT ALL. He does get tested here however. Punishing sex, spanking, toys, elements of bondage, and lactation.

BTW Leonor's comments and warning about the content are totally true here. This book is not about a protective alpha until the end. This is not a book I would recommend to everyone and it was not up to the usual JS standard in my opinion.

------------original thoughts about this book------------

HE TREATS HER LIKE HIS MISTRESS AND THE NO TALKING DURING SEX THING!
NOPE NOT GOING TO TOUCH THIS!
Still love the author but when you write a Zero/Hero unless he does something major to make it up to her I am NOT GOING THERE!

After a lot of interruptions, I'm finally done. I know my safety friends won't like this one (see safety below). I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. I really enjoyed it! Maybe because I'm used to Jordan Silver's writing style and like what Chantal said, it was like Fifty Shades which I've read a few times already. So if you're a fan of JS and you like Fifty Shades, you'll like this one too.

The story is about Jonas, 33 and Thalia, 25.

Jonas is a wealthy businessman. Since the death of his wife and son over two years ago, he never commit to anyone else. But one look at Thalia and he can't get her out of his mind

Thalia works for him and was promoted as his assistant and at the same time, his mistress. They have a contract. He set up a house for her with a car and she must be available to him anytime and anywhere he likes. He never stayed with her though. He doesn't want her making a sound during sex. He never let anyone get too close.

I don't know if it's just me but yes, he's with a lot of women but he's different when it comes to her. He may not know it yet at the time but he wanted to keep her and the contract was his way of tying her to him. And I felt the change in him. But like I said, this book is not for most of my safety friends.

There's an epilogue with marriage and babies.

"The Good girl" is the story of Thalia, she has made an arrangement with her boss Jonas, to have a no string attached sexual relationship where she is to be available for him whenever he wants her. After a couple of months she has fallen in love with him and wants more.

So most of the short story Jonas, is stoic and cold with Thalia at least outside their sexual encounters but, at least to me I understood him. After all he had lost his wife and son in a car accident, he didn't want to be hurt again.

description

the story is fast paced filled with misunderstanding between the MC's but regardless I really liked it. Their sexy times were hot and sexy add a bit of light BDSM.
By the last chapters Jonas turned up to be a good man and very very possessive and the epilogue was perfect.

This was my first book by this author I know I will look into more of her books. <3

Wow this is one of JS better books. I'm kind of shocked lol

It was good! It did remind me of the whole "fifty shades" theme. Troubled Billionaire only after sex and wants zero emotions involved. She signs a contract, has zero say, was a virgin. He's closed off with a sad past. So he never talked to her and she had to be completely quite during sex.

Thalia works for Jonas and develops a huge crush on him. He offers her a place to live, to be his assistant and to have sex whenever he wants, wherever he wants with no strings attached. She has to be at his beck and call, can't go anywhere and can tell no one of their relationship. Of course she falls in love with him and he was kind of an ass. You can totally see how far gone with him she was with him and it was sad. I wanted to slap her and tell her to move one.

However, the story line was good and kept me entertained and enthralled. I did figure out early on why Jonas was the way he was. I did feel for him and once he realized what a douche he was to Thalia he totally makes up for it and lays it out for her. It was cute!!

I usually find it hard to get into novellas (this is not 300 pages lol) so I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was dropped in to the story right away. I was hooked. Good angst. Mysterious in a sense. Vague but really satisfying. Thalia lands a job at Jonas' company. She is promoted as his personal admin and is also given option to be his mistress, contract included. She’s obsessed with him, she thinks he is too but constantly worries. They don’t talk during Those Moments and she has to be “on call” for him. Some good jealous moments here. It is smutty, but balanced with angst-y POV of heroine. I would read more works by Jordan Silver!

Much different than the normal Jordan Silver books I've read.   I wasn't sure what to make of it initially because JS has brought me some of my all-time favorite OTT alphas (Colton, Talon etc) and Jonas was NOT doing it for me.

However,  a little red flag went up for me when the first 3/4 of the book was from Thalia's POV only..  It was her thoughts and assumptions.   Don't get me wrong, she had reason to believe some of her inner worst case scenario mechanations.  However, I was getting absolutely zero thoughts from Jonas, so I had no idea where he was coming from.  Which led to the assumption that he was a self serving douchenoodle who had a weird hang up with his dead ex wife and couldn't move on from her.....and like Thalia,  I was mistaken.

When Thalia finally hit her breaking point,  she forces Jonas' hand so to speak.   Now at this point, it's revealed why Jonas is the way he is, what he thought about the contact and how he actually felt about Thalia.    His inner thoughts at the end reveal how much he loves her and she is NOT second best to the first wife...

In the last year and a half, I’ve been the happiest I’ve ever been since the day I held my son minutes after his birth.

If there is such a thing as a soul mate she’s mine. I’ve never felt more complete, more worthwhile than I do now. She and our daughter are the best part of my day, everyday. No matter what else is going on in my life, the business, which was flourishing, the millions I make. None of it comes close to what those two bring to me.

She was perfect, my wife. And once I’d put the stupid contract and my idiotic rules aside, I’d come to learn and love her even more than I ever thought possible. She was nothing like Cynthia, and I’ve spent everyday since the day I first told her that I love her, trying to make up for our rocky start. When I think about that contract now, I’m almost ashamed. Not so much about the contract, but some of the things I’d asked of her. I’d made her pay for someone else’s fuck-ups.

Also, he states his thoughts behind why he made her sign the contract -

“Yes, within three weeks of our little arrangement I stopped seeing you as my mistress.” He stopped talking and got up to move around. “Look, I may not have been fair to you. There are things in my past that have made me more cautious when it comes to relationships of any kind.”

“The first time I saw you, it was like a shock to the system. I don’t care how clichéd that sounds, it’s the absolute truth. I took one look at you and everything I’d told myself I’ll never want again, never have, came crashing down on my head. It took me days to get my head together, to figure out how to play it.”

But I never had anyone sign a contract before you. That was my way of tying you to me without taking the more logical step.”

There are points in which I could see that alpha "mine" mentality pop up.  He has moments that the facade cracks and the cave man rears his head, sending mixed signals to Thalia.  So he has her all over the place emotionally.  She loves him but is done with the games.

~hero who had be damaged and wasn't very open to trusting
~doormat heroine who for a short time,  was willing to take any scraps the hero would give her
~no cheating
~no om drama
~ow drama
~just ok epilogue about a year out (wish it was further out)

It could have been better if it had been longer. The ending, in particular, was very rushed.

This was VERY much 50 Shades inspired (will it never end?) There wasn't a serious BDSM plot, but a lot of other elements were there. The contract. The control. The background checks. He even tied her up with his tie at one point.

This heroine was serious doormat material too. But, sometimes, I do enjoy the wallbanging crazy of something like this. I mean come on! A 25-year old virgin decides to lose her virginity by signing a sex contract with her boss? I just had to give it a whirl - especially since it was available on KU.

As I said, the ending was too abrupt. He went from barely speaking to her/banging her in silence to "lets get married" in a couple of pages. There was also no comeuppance for his d-bag behavior.

3.5 stars. When I first started this I thought the H was a total ass, and he was. I also was under the impression that he loved his dead wife so much that the h would be second best. I should've known better reading a Jordan Silver book though. He did treat the h like shit in the beginning. Then he slowly started to change. The h saw these changes but was consumed with the insecurities of how their relationship started and has been from the beginning. And let me tell you that the h is absolutely not second best. I'm not saying he never loved his wife but at the end he saw her true colors. This tainted his relationship with the h, for sure. When all is said and done he has a lot of remorse for how he treated her and does everything he can to show her and give her a beautiful life. She is his soul mate and he has no doubt about that and the luck he has having his beautiful family.

I just want to start by saying I love you Jordan Silver and I have read almost every single one of your books and have pretty much loved all of them. Until this one...

description

Yes, her H's can be extremely OTT to the point they are aholes but they are in a "your mine and obsessed" kinda of ahole way from the very first page of her books. However, didn't happen here...well I guess the H explains at the end that he did but the hell if he showed it. I am just so used to her H's being...idk...MORE!!! I absolutely hated Jonas until 90% of the book. Boy was he a AHOLE!!!

description

But you know what the problem with this book was??
Not until the very end of the book did we get Jonas's POV and I did fall for him a little bit then bc he did apologize but not as much as I would have if we got to see what was going on in his mind through out the book. I was just so mad at how he treated Thalia that it was just hard to forgive him at the very end. He did love Thalia and knew from the first meeting that he wanted her to be his but all we got was Thalia's POV so we only saw how nasty he was to her even when he knew she was preggors.

On top of me wanting to throat punch Jonas every other page, Thalia didn't help. Gah, she was so whiney and frustrating how she was still so into Jonas after the way he treated her. She in no way shape or form had a back bone. And I really hated that. When he said jump, she said how high. Yes it was part of the contract but to hell with the contract if youre going to treat me like a damn dog!!! Geeezzz!!!

description

Oh and just to point out one tid bit that I HATED and can't believe JS wrote this...
Jonas never used protection with OW. This almost made to stop reading it. I don't care if you get checked every day, month or whatever and you're clean its just not something I like knowing in the books I read and its disgusting. Also he trusted all these women to be on some sort of birth control. I mean how dumb does he have to be??? Clearly all the women wanted him enough to trap him. Sooooo HELLO??? Just Ewww!

description

Again, I still love me some JS but I hope her writing doesn't continue this route but I torture my own self by knowing before hand and still I read it. That's JS for ya. Completely addicting!!!

Honestly, this is what I expected from a Jordan Silver story. Super raunchy, dirty, panty melting smut. I know a lot of people aren't a fan of the characters and story but to be honest... I read Jordan Silver's books for one reason, and it isn't the plot. *wink*

I read this so long ago that I’m just going to leave a 3⭐because I don’t remember much, so I know I didn’t love it but don’t remember it being unpleasant either. It’s not the typical Jordan Silver raunch-fest with an OBSESSED H bossing the wimpy h around while bragging about his foot long. It’s actually narrated from the female’s POV, and yes, she does sign up to basically be his on call/always ready to get down mistress, but I didn’t really find her wimpy. Clingy and crazy… 100% YES, but she wasn’t that blushing virgin type she likes to write about.

Thalia gets a job for Jonas’s company. He’s a widow (wife and child died in an accident) and is known for getting around the office with short NDA-esque relationships. She becomes OBSESSED with covertly stalking and figuring out who he’s banging while acting like she isn’t like other girls and obsessed with getting in his pants. It works because he offers her his PA position with the side job of being his contracted mistress (because she isn’t like other girls and only worried about getting into his pants) which she quickly accepts.

The book opens with an insecure Thalia frustrated/worried because her and Jonas have been hooking up (he never stays over) for three whole months and she’s caught feelings. She’s worried about another office chick and that she could be pregnant because at 25 years of age she thought the best course of action after forgetting to take her pill for a few days was to just wait to start over the next month.

The rest is some misunderstandings and contrived drama because we don’t have Jonas’s POV.

Bottom Line- This is a just go with it read… don’t dig deep or look too hard, and you might like it. It’s an easy read with no angst, but some drama. It’s not really OTT or drama-llama though.

Despite the very cheesy mistress-by-contract routine,I actually liked it better than a few JS I've read.
Because? For one - the h is shown having rebellious thoughts (okay just thoughts but still!) and it's not filled cover to cover with mindless sex as her other books. There are some thought processes allowed!
Okay, so he's a major db who treats her shabbily with his no-talk booty calls, and then that punishment sex was disturbing but it also added hugely to the angst and was a sort of a water shed moment in the book. But it has to be said that his nebulous inner conflict at using her for emotionless sex, is there right from the beginning.

The problem for me was the ending. It lost the chance to be more and settled for corny.
And then all his 'caring' after he realises she's pregnant was nonsense really. He actually suspected beforehand and so that cruel BDSM sex scene of the previous night doesn't really fit with his melting into a caring guy the next day just because she's pregnant. Another eyeroll moment was when he chides her for harming 'his child' by running away and driving interstate. Really, dude! Those marathon sex sessions (before and after the preg revelation) and that silver beads act was sure good for the baby!
And the epilogue tells us he sometimes spanked her till she can't sit down for a day during the pregnancy too. Wow, really caring!

Great short read! It has a plot, we have a somewhat doormat heroine, an asshole-shitty alpha hero and I liked everything about it! lol

The storyline isn't something new, the blurb pretty much sums it up. I wanted to hate the Hero but the heroine pretty much knew what she signed up for. TBH I like both H/h but would have been nice if it was longer! This book is your typical JS with lots of humping but at the same time lil' different because it has some angst that made me feel emotionally connected to the story.

It's been awhile since I like something from this author so 4.5 stars for me!

This was an ok story, and I love Jordan Silver, but I just didn't connect with this one. I think it's cause until the end we didn't see how he felt about her and I didn't really feel a connection I'm sorry to say. Ow is just a miscommunication, not what she thought. Blip of om who flirted with her, but only a sentence or 2. No cheating between the mcs, but the H was cheated on before. https://storiesinreview971130128.word...

The Good Girl began underwhelming with sex scene but the more I read the better the story got.
Told from the heroine's pov we see the relationship grow from casual to serious.
Being in her head one sees she's obsessed jealous possessive eventually one sees love.

A short read.
Recommend waiting for price drop if that bothers

"The Good Girl" is the story of Thalia and Jonas.
It has everything you'd expect from the blurb, in a typical JS writing
-An alpha hero with a tragic past
-A naive heroine
-A no holds "mistress" contract
-Feelings and surprise antibiotic mishap which leads to bun in the oven
-Heroine acting like a doormat and being overly suspicious
-Some hot sex scenes
-An expected confession
-Closure
-Good epilogue
I am again creeped by the endearments (sweet butterfly, plump mons) but overall a good one time read. Im not a big fan of this plot, unless it is executed very well- and this was ok to good at the best.

I've read a lot of negative things being said about this book and I don't agree, I loved it. This book was a million times better than Broken, I couldn't even get through that book I wanted to punch myself in the face. The writing was also a lot better in this one too, while there was grammar mistakes it was no where near as bad as previous books. Thalia is 25 years old and a personal administrator for the very rich and sexy Jonas Harp. She has had a crush on him since she started working for him back when she was a secretary among others who all wanted in his bed. Jonas' wife and young son were killed two years earlier by a drunk driver and since then he's screwed a lot of women but nothing more. Everyone thinks it's because he loved his wife so much that he can't move on when in fact it's because of his deceased wife he no longer trusts women. Thalia is shocked when she gets the promotion to be Jonas' PA because she didn't think she stood a chance. She is even more surprised when he offers her a contract to become his mistress where she must be available to him 24/7. Even though she's a virgin she knows she may never get another offer from him so she happily signs the contract. He sets her up in a house with a new car, a whole new wardrobe and he pays all her expenses. At first I thought it was odd that Jonas didn't want her to talk or make noise during sex but after he explained why I understood it. I know that part bothered a lot of readers but all I could feel was sympathy towards him and sad that his ex-wife was such a scummy twat.

One of the least likable stories by this author. The FMC fell in love with the MMC before he ever met her. She was low key stalking him. The MMC then makes her his mistress and IMO treats her like a blow up doll. But the FMC loves him even more. Only when the FMC gets pregnant by accident does she wake up enough to realize she wants more and she fears he will want her to get rid of it. She runs away but he finds her almost immediately and now the MMC is a normal person to her. I mean he actually talks to her. Smdh. The MMC explains he always loved her, always wanted her but was too afraid because of past trauma to let her in. Then it’s HEA. The only MMC POV chapter is the epilogue and they are married and he loves her, and it’s normal.

This whole book was NOT normal. Barely any words passed between the main couple up until the last two chapters. The FMC was too desperate for the MMC to make her human let alone relatable. It just didn’t work for me romance wise. It was lame no sound making, cold, controlled s e x at best. I was bored and was not invested in any outcome for these characters. I will never read this again. Good luck.

Super short book, which is to be expected because there's really not much happening in this book. This book was just all over the place. The h's thoughts and perspective is unclear. She loves him, then she hates him, then she's back to loving him again. And the only "voice" I got from her was whining.

We never really get to know the H because his perspective is missing. I used to think that perhaps Jordan Silver was a man because many of her books are more focused on the male's perspective. Not so with this book. And if it's because this author can only write whiny females, then please stick with the males from now on.

Last, not only is this h a whiner, but she's also a doormat. She's a doormat who whines in her head, and then let's H walk all over her. In actuality, this h made me feel really uncomfortable. I felt like I was reading about a domestic abuse victim. None of JS' characters are realistic. However, there is at least some semblance (even if very slight) of believability about them. Not so with this h.

I wasn't expecting to, but I really liked this book. Jonas was almost the perfect Jerk antihero that I love. So many bad boy books are filled with way to much fluff. So much so, I've all but given up on reading my fav types of romance, dark romance, bad Alpha, Antihero goodness. This read didn't let me down, it surprised me.
I'm tempted to start reading all the books, one of my goodreads friends don't like. Her three star or lowers ratings seem to be my go to romance books lately. Lol... She just reviewed another one I think I'll really like. Maybe I don't have to completely give up on my brand of romance after all.

Thalia finds herself in a difficult situation, she is in love with Jonah but she signed a contract that doesn't allow for such complications. Jonah has suffered tragedy in his past that makes him reluctant to trust in relationships, however he has real feelings for Thalia.

They learn to trust each other and begin a real relationship. Overall I really liked this story and was a great short read.

it was too short( completed in 2 hours)....
heroine was naive, dumb ,"kind of doormat" and immature........so infuriating ,i just wanted to kick her ass through out the 80%( bcoz last 20% was H's P.O.V.... ;) )
lack of communication( i mean no comm. at all till 80%) between H & h
but still.... i liked it only because of H...
he was the definition of a perfect asshole and had alpha male qualities and didn't cheated on h...so yeah... its a one time read....

Jonas and Thalia

“Be my good girl.”

This is the book that made me fall in love with JS. Jonas was perfect to me . He had the silent but serious factor down to a T. He was definitely j/p and his idea of punishing Thalia left me jealous. I only wished this book was longer. I could have savored it.
