This book is the general overview of the Old Testament from the Bible. If the topics or the subjects about the Old Testament(the Pentateuch, Poetry, Historical) bored you to death, then you may need to read this book for starter. Mind you, I said for a starter not in lieu of the Old Testament like having appetizer before having your proper meal.

I like the writing style of this author which made my journey of reading this book is more like reading a good story book filled with satires. However, if you are a serious Bible student, reading this book alone is insufficient; you need to read Jensen's Survey of the Old Testament in addition to this book.
