Three kids make an ill-advised (but well-intentioned) deal with a demon in the woods one day. Twenty years later, Levi, Rowan, and Alder meet again to find out their past has caught up to them. But a lot changes in twenty years, and they aren’t as innocent as they used to be.
In the vein of Nimona and Dragon Age, this character-driven comic by Keezy Young is a queer, modern take on the fantastical. Prepare for an adventure with your new found family.
I stumbled upon this comic accidentally one day so many years ago and now I finally read it and I really understand why the creator abandoned it. What is left of the story is a prologue and the first chapter and it feels weird. The entire conflict is based on kids getting scared, which, yeah, is rather realistic, but it just feels slightly weird to base a story on that. And it is usually not a good sign when I dislike the main thing in the story. We could have had a story about kids discovering Onaskellis and letting her (?) live with them in the town, that would have been a great story, but instead we get teen angst 5000. I hope that one day the author reimagines the story again and makes something better with it, but it seems that the author has long moved on and maybe that is for the better.
The storyline is unique and the characters are mysterious. The whole thing is mysterious. It's too bad this series seems to have been discontinued by the author. I would love to learn more about Onaskellis and the pact the kids made with them.
