Denise shares the more time we spend in the Bible, the more familiar we will become with God's voice. That is so important, because not only are people watching us and how we act as Christians, but also, how are we going to be truth tellers if we don't know it ourselves. I also like how Denise emphasized the importance of writing the Word too and what it does based on research. (Side note: Denise's Word Writer's Bible Studies are great, I have completed two of them!) We need to be like Ezra from the Bible, he wrote the Word, invited others to also, which made an impact that has carried on to even now! Ezra 7:10 Ezra had determined in his heart to study the law of the Lord, obey it, and teach its statutes and ordinances in Israel. Denise's new book Deeper Waters~Immersed in the Life-Changing Truth of God's Word, is broken down to, 4-parts based on that scripture message from Ezra. At the end of the book, Denise provides the readers with a read-through the Bible study plan, along, with a place to write out Psalm 119, and scriptures to read and pray through. She provides you with a step-by-step process to do during your reading of the Word, such as prayer, writing, suggested references to help get a better understanding of God's Word. This book though is so much more than a how to study the Bible and why, Denise also shares her walk of faith, which is a truly encouraging story of hope and redemption, that only God can do. So if you, like me desire to have a deeper relationship with God and know Him, learn to hear God's voice through His Word, and be able to discern what is true from untrue, then this is a highly recommended book!
Do you long to read God’s Word? To study it? But starting at Genesis 1:1 and going through until Revelation 22:21 seems rather daunting? Begin with “Deeper Waters” by Denise J. Hughes. No, she won’t give you synopsises/ Cliff Notes of each book of the Bible and tell you so much that you think you can do without reading The Bible for yourself. You will still need to do that on your own. But she leads you on paths that make it manageable reading. She encourages you with the whys of studying and reading God’s Word as well as some methods. In “Deeper Waters” she takes a different path than her usual Word Writer Series. She tells of her own struggles not just in reading God’s Word but with her own struggles with God Himself. Of her struggles to begin (reading the Bible) and beginning again. As well as the reasons in between and the beauty that can be found in the pages of God’s Word. It’s her story, and encouragement to read His story. I will be going back through this book and gleaning from all my underlines and sticky note flags, for myself, as well as using in my own teachings. I was blessed to be a part of this launch team. I was given a copy of the book in exchange for a unbiased review.
Denise is such a gifted storyteller. This book was personal and heartfelt. Her passion for the Word and her desire to unite women to share their stories is so powerful. She had so many practical applications to make studying the Word and hiding it in our hearts easy that I can not wait to implement her suggestions. By nature, I am not a morning person, but very much a night owl, after her explaining of giving our first fruits I have been inspired to read a psalms first thing in the morning before I do anything else. This is a book that I will recommend to every woman, regardless of her season in life.
I enjoy reading this books so much! I finished this book about 4-5 days in between my packed schedule.
I love how Denise communicates the importance of God's word yet without judging or pushing people to keep reading the Bible. She shares her own story and journey how she finally met God and started to love His words. She makes the bible seems alive and attractive. With an easy application, she shares her tips how she manage to read and study the bible everyday. I will say this book is a big success for me since it makes me want to read the bible and soak into the deeper water of His Words.
I would recommend this book to every Christian out there!
"The greatest gift we can ever give our children is a heritage of the Word" - Denise J. Hughes
I saw a book review on Deeper Waters by my friend Bev, and I was delighted after downloading my preview copy. Denise Hughes writes with a thoughtful, intelligent voice. She is a teacher, and I appreciate her organized delivery. She is also sensitive, so this book is rich with detail. Of the many books I’ve read this year, Deeper Waters is definitely a favorite.
Denise has a passion for God’s Word, but it wasn’t always that way. Even though she grew up in a Christian home, she didn’t develop a hunger for God’s Word until she was a young adult. She weaves in personal stories with honesty and grace. I loved hearing her insights.
She offers several different methods for studying the Bible, based on a passage in Ezra. Even though I’ve been a student of the Bible for decades, I learned some new things from Denise’s study suggestions. Something as simple as writing out verses to help them stick to memory. This is a simple yet powerful tip that I plan to do this week.
What has stayed with me the most from reading Deeper Waters are the ways Denise applied God’s Word to her life situations. Whether it was coping with her brother’s paralysis, dealing with divorce, or struggling as a new mom, Denise turned to God’s Word for help. She gave many inspiring examples of how to search the Bible for help when you are hurting.
Anyone who is looking to plumb the depths of God’s Word with a caring guide will appreciate Deeper Waters. I highly recommend it.
I received a free review copy of Deeper Waters from Netgalley.
This is an amazing book! I had my highlighter out the whole time I was reading it and there's more green on the pages then white. That's how much I gleaned out of this book.
Denise shares her heart openly, which makes this book really easy and enjoyable to read. She shares her own journey of getting deeper into the Word of God and then shares what she learned along the way with us so we can get more out of the Bible as well.
I have read other books on how to study the Bible but this is the absolute best book I've ever read for giving lots of ideas and information. She gives us the tools to share what we've learned with other women. She shares why it's so important to know God more deeply through His Word. It's all SO good!
I gained so much from this book. It's a book I'm keeping in my quiet time basket because I'm referring it time and again as I study the Word of God. Plus, there are prayers in the back as well as a Bible reading plan. It's the perfect book for making your time with the Lord really count. I absolutely love this book and highly recommend it! I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
*This book was provided to me for my honest review by the author and publisher
Deeper Waters by Denise J Hughes is an excellent book that I'll be reading over and over! It is a powerhouse of inspiration, wisdom, raw honesty, insight, powerful truths, and thought provoking book of Denise's walk in the Lord's biblical truths and stories within the bible. She shares wonderful examples and ideas of not only how to gain the most from your bible reading, the importance of why we need to read it and what we gain by doing so.
I learned so much from Denise's beautifully written book! I love how she took a rather complex subject and simplified it, shed light on it, made it approachable, and brought home the message of how integral the bible is to all of us. Denise shares how the biblical truths lead us to a closer, more intimate relationship with the Lord, a knowing, a spiritual awakening, that arises from the depths of the Bible.
I loved this book! A few of my favorite quotes from Deeper Waters by Denise Hughes are:
"Our souls long for something beyond what we can see and touch and hear and know. Apart from God, we're in a spiritual exile of our own, and our lives are a journey toward our true home. We're eternal souls living in mortal bodies, and our physical world sometimes blinds us-- and deafens us -- from what is true versus what is untrue. "
"The Holy Spirit enables every believer, wherever we are, to understand the uncompromised truth and uncontested beauty of Scripture. When we hear God's voice through the pages of His Word, we find our true home in Him, and the brokenness we experience in the deep waters of life is redeemed for a purpose greater than we can imagine."
"When we're immersed in the grace and truth of God's Word, we find the path that leads us home."
I feel this book is vital for those who are new or seasoned in their faith, or for those wondering what the mystery is behind reading the bible and the importance of it. Denise has such a beautiful way of expressing the role the Lord's truths and promises play as they speak to our souls and everyday lives.
Deeper Waters breaks down the ways Denise has discovered that helped her better understand, digest, implement, and live out the stories and truths within the bible. She describes how we gain a deeper insight into the character of God. I love how she summarizes her tips, techniques, and various reading plans that make reading the bible doable and something you are excited about and devoted to. I have struggled with my bible reading and Deeper Waters has really inspired me to look at the bible and all that's within it in a whole new way. For me, she demystified how to submerge myself in the Bible and really understand what I am reading, and most importantly how it will transform my life and relationship with the Lord
Denise is such a sweet, wise, humble, faith-filled, inspirational, tender, caring, and motivating writer. Her words are lyrical and the book flows seamlessly. I think you will love this book as much as I do and be awakened to a whole new way of reading and immersing yourself into the amazing truths within the pages of the bible. I know I will be applying the techniques Denise shares to delve further in the Bible and draw nearer to the Lord. Thank you, Denise Hughes, for writing a much needed and beautiful book about one of the most treasured and vital books ever written, the Bible.
“Deeper Waters: Immersed in the Life-Changing Truth of God’s Word” is the type of book that you will want to keep close by, on your nightstand or in your desk, because you will inevitably want to read and reference it time after time. Written by Denise J. Hughes (author of the “Word Writers” series) and published by Harvest House in 2017, this book offered so much more than I expected. Unquestionably one of the best non-fiction books I’ve read this year, “Deeper Waters” is a resource I cannot recommend highly enough.
It is a little difficult to pin this book down with a concise description, because it is rather unlike any other book I’ve read. While not exactly a Bible study, and not entirely a memoir, “Deeper Waters” combines elements of both genres into a unique experience that helps readers learn to hear God’s voice through His Word. The overarching theme and organization of the book is based on a verse from the Bible, Ezra 7:10, which says “Ezra had determined in his heart to study the law of the Lord, obey it, and teach its statutes and ordinances to Israel”. So, the four parts of this book are: Determining in Your Heart; To Study God’s Word; To Obey God’s Voice; and To Teach God’s Precepts. In the epilogue we also find some valuable resources including a 365-Day Bible Reading Plan, space to write out Psalm 119 for yourself, and a sampling of the prayers found in the Bible.
As Denise says, “You don’t have to be in seminary to be a serious student of the Bible”. If you need some fresh inspiration to encourage and inspire you in your walk with God and your daily Bible-reading, do not hesitate to find yourself a copy of “Deeper Waters”. The personal stories from the author’s life and her insightful ideas for understanding the big picture of the Bible are clearly God-inspired. Although I just finished this book a few days ago, I plan to go back and read all or most of it very soon. If you are searching for a powerful new book to boost your understanding of God’s Word, why not start off the New Year with “Deeper Waters: Immersed in the Life-Changing Truth of God’s Word”? I promise, you won’t regret it for a moment.
This book was provided courtesy of Harvest House Publishers, in exchange for my honest review.
This is one of the best, most helpful books I've read in a very long time...and one that I will keep on the shelf to keep referring back to. Who knew there was so much encouragement and instruction in the book of Ezra?! While it isn't a specific study of Ezra, the author uses Ezra as an inspirational backdrop and an effective compass to point the reader in the right direction for digging deeper into scripture.
Most books either tell a story or give instruction. This book is a perfect blend, combining glimpses of Denise's personal hurts, family tragedies, wrong beliefs, and struggles with her real life experience. It then offers practical advice and steps to learning and claiming truth from God's word and applying them to our own lives. It is autobiographical, narrative, and instructive all in one book!
It is a nice size, good feeling, inviting-to-look-at book. (Maybe that isn't important to some people but I love the way a book feels and how inviting and easy to read the pages are.) It is divided into four parts which flow beautifully: 1. Determining in Your Heart... 2. To Study God's Word... 3. To Obey God's Voice...4. To Teach God's Precepts. Again, I was amazed at the writer’s gift to be able to parallel the book of Ezra and to pull out such a useful tool to encourage a deeper walk in the scriptures. It then offers a reading plan and room to write scriptures in the back.
If you have ever felt like you were so new to the scriptures that you didn't know where to begin studying, this book is for you. If you're a lifelong learner but need fresh direction and motivation, this book is for you. If you're somewhere in between or if you're looking for a way to encourage a friend, this book is for you. If I could sum it up in one sentence, I would use the author's own words from page 126: "This book is about determining in our hearts to study God's Word and obey God's voice because, when we do, we're set free from the brokenness that binds us and the old sinful patterns that permeate our choices." Can I get an "Amen!"?

I am reviewing a copy of Deeper Waters through Harvest House Publishers and Netgalley:
In this book we are reminded that: we are drawn by a voice of beauty. We are held by a voice of truth and that we find our path in life when we are listening to the voice that matters the most. It is pointed out too that we are on a journey not of perfection but progression to become more like Christ. And that God's Word is the only unchanging, eternal reality we can look too.
Denise J Hughes invites you to go deeper into God's Word, but she does so admitting she has had her own struggles.
We are reminded that just as he did in Biblical times God continues to transform lives. And they also point out the more time we spend in the Bible, the more familiar we become with God's voice. We are encouraged to give God the first-fruits of our day. We are reminded too that God will fill the empty spaces in our lives. We are reminded too that God is a God of Order and design.
This book reminds us that God's word is not just for Scholars, that it is for everyone! We are reminded too that the greatest heritage we can give our children, is a foundation in the Bible.
It is pointed out too that the voice of God never contradicts what is written in the word! A Bible Study doesn't have to be complicated. We are reminded too that God answers prayers!
We are reminded too that when we are immersed in grace and truth we find the path that leads us home. It is also pointed out that God makes it clear we'll be held accountable for what we have been given.
We are reminded too that we need to be both globally minded as well as locally minded!
A Rich Guide For Plumbing the Depths of God's Word
Deeper Waters is an incredible book. It helped me to better grasp the richness, power, and great hope that is available to readers of God's Word. Denise J. Hughes has written a powerful book. She writes of her own personal experience of turning to God's Word, and the peace she received despite tragic circumstances. This peace was deeper and stronger than the situation that attempted to destroy her faith, trust, and hope. Denise shows us through her own story, and that of Ezra, a Jewish priest in Israel, that we will find immense strength and hope; these are dependable, resilient, and reliable because they are rooted in the Word of God. These roots run deep because the Bible is authored by God Himself. Denise teaches us how to dive into God's Word, plumbing it's depths through writing out scripture, and immersing ourselves in God's Word to hear God's voice for ourselves. But we must study in depth. I very highly recommend Deeper Waters. I am so thankful for Denise and this amazing book she has written. I will continue to use Deeper Waters in my personal quiet time, and use the method of study Denise explains to plumb greater depths in God's Word. I will be reading Deeper Waters again and again. It is a wonderful book for both new and seasoned readers of the Bible.
*Disclaimer: I am blessed to have been able to read and review Deeper Waters. I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. The opinion stated is my own. I have not been compensated in any way.*
“Deeper Waters: Immersed in the Life-Changing Truth of God’s Word” by Denise J. Hughes changes one’s outlook on life and the importance of being immersed in God’s Word. Throughout the book, she shares stories from her life, and how during those times, God used them to draw her closer to Himself.
Denise says, “This book is about determining in our hearts to study God’s Word and obey God’s voice because, when we do, we’re set free from the brokenness that binds us and the sinful patterns that permeate our choices.” The two words, study and obey, are key to my spiritual growth as God’s daughter, so that I may be transformed from the inside out.
My favorite part of “Deeper Waters” is when Denise talks about the compass. She says, “The arrow points due north. Always. And that’s what the Scripture does for us. When we’re immersed in the grace and truth of God’s Word, we find the path that leads us home.” When I am off track, lost, trying to decide where to go, and asking, “God, why me?”, I am so thankful that I have a compass (God’s Word) to point me right back to my Guide, the One Who loves me and will guide me each step of the way.
“Deeper Waters” created in me a hunger to create space to hide away in God’s presence, to study God’s Word more in-depth, to seek His face continually, and most of all, become more proactive at being listener. I recommend this book!
Every now and then, the words in a book affect us so immensely it completely changes our view of lives. This is one of those books for me. Denise shares a tragic event early in her childhood that forever changed her family. In the midst of her questions and struggles, she started reading the Word of God in the chapel of a hospital. The words were confusing to a young child but slowly and surely the God of the universe reached down and spoke profoundly to her young heart. Her many stories are shared with tenderness and grace. Over the years, God revealed Himself to Denise in significant ways and she falls deeply in love with not only His Word, but the Writer Himself. This book is not just about Denise’s story; it is about God’s love story for all of us and His desire to heal us from our brokenness. Denise has a beautiful way of illustrating how scripture applies to our daily lives. Her writing is deeply personal and immersed in the truth of His Word. I love Denise’s heart to inspire women to gather in community, share our stories and encourage one another with His truth and love. Many times, I felt as though Denise was sitting across the table from me softly sharing the beauty of a life deeply rooted in His Word. It's a memoir/devotional/guide all wrapped up in one book. I ordered several copies to give as gifts.
She opens with her personal pain and discouragement, with which I can relate. She then leads us on a very clear spiritual journey. Writing in a chapter entitled “The Exile We Know,” she declares, “I am from a place known for weeping. The irony is not lost on me.” At that moment, I knew there would be a deep connection between her words and my heart. And I was right. Having grown up PK (a preacher’s kid), I was exposed to a deeper and broader understanding of Theology. As a result, I expect more of my leaders and teachers. I need more than just a heart for the Gospel, I need solid, scholarly teaching. Denise does not disappoint. Deeper Waters gives context to the study of scripture by acknowledging that it’s hard, but that it can be done. She asks, “Could I really bring my pain to The One who allowed so much of it in the first place?” If we’re honest, that’s the question the most devout AND the most questioning of us ask…all the time. In articulating that question, assures us that , “if God could use the people in Genesis, maybe He can use me to.” While we are so dissimilar, I am grateful for the blessing of our connection, and for her words. Denise is not only capable, she is credible.
When I first read the tagline for this book, I thought, “Oh no… is this going to be one of those tough-worded, theological, heavy reads that I’ll have to plow through?” But once I opened it and began reading, Denise’s storytelling, easy style pulled me in and I kept reading to find out how she was going to tie it all together. She does a great job of mixing her own story and application pieces together, creating an easy flow. And as I went through it I was underlining great ideas and making notes in the margins. (For me, this is always a sign of good book!) Denise takes her love for God’s Word and lays out practical principles and application pieces for discerning God’s voice. She shares how to study His word effectively and in practical ways for everyday living. She reminds us that keeping a consistent, daily time in God’s Word balances our lives and helps our days run smoother. We all have days where we need a do-over and even a time-out to reset and grasp a better perspective. This book will give you great ways to do that along with encouragement and principles of faith and truth.
Deeper Waters is a deeply authentic and honest reflection of one pilgrim’s journey of life with God and the intersection (and often collision) of the quest for growing spirituality with the reality of heartbreaking change and loss. Denise Hughes leaves the reader at a loss for words in some chapters: How does one “journey on” while experiencing tremendous challenges to family and in the midst of heartache and disappointment? In the arena of deeper waters, where the phrase “sink or swim” was thrust upon her, Denise found her solace, sustenance, and rescue in the deeper waters of God’s Word. Completely immersed in truth, Denise found the Water of Life and drank deeply. People who have experienced loss, hurt, or deep disappointment would benefit from this book. Denise doesn’t sugarcoat the hard, but she also didn’t allow the hard to leave her in a barren wasteland. The beautiful promise of Scripture meeting her in these desert places is a timely reminder of the timeless nature of God’s Word and its impact to change us. The book also includes helpful tips on how to study Scripture in order to make a meaningful and transformative impression in one’s life. I highly recommend it.
We are called to jump the hurdles in our life, one hurdle at a time.

Deeper Waters is a journey by Denise J. Hughes to go deeper into God's Word. She teaches us to embarks on a journey - 1. To determine in your heart to make God's voice your guide 2. To study God's Word so you can hear God's voice 3. To obey what God writes in his scripture for us 4. To teach God's precepts to those around us Here is a quote from the book that I believe is so prevalent today..
"In a world constantly spinning and a culture constantly changing, we all need something unchanging to hold on to--something steadfast to anchor our souls amidst the swirling turmoil around us and within us. God's Word is the only unchanging, eternal reality we can look to."

Her way of storytelling connects to anyone who reads this book. She gives us such wonderful examples and ideas of not only how to gain the most from reading the Bible, but also the importance of why we need to read it and what we gain by doing so.
Denise has a heart for God’s Word, and to see women connect across the generations. This book is vital for anyone, no matter if they are new or seasoned in their faith, or wondering what the importance is behind reading the Bible. Denise has a beautiful way of expressing the role the Lord's truths and promises play as He speaks to our everyday lives. This book will guide you in such a way that will draw you closer to the Lord and how to walk WITH Him every step of your life! I am blessed to have been a part of the launch team and would highly recommend this book for anyone who needs a reset of their spiritual life and to get back on the path the Lord has set for them.
I just can't say enough about this book. This is more than just a 'how-to' or a 'why-to' of reading His Word. This is, honestly, the first I've heard or read of Denise Hughes and I will definitely be checking out her Word Writer studies. I loved the look into her person journey with God, reading His word, studying His Word, and also her struggles with her faith because of life circumstances.
Denise talks about how important it is to spend time with God each day. Not only that, but she touches on 'first fruits' and starting your day with Bible study. It has challenged me to start my day a little earlier and spend time with God first. (I am a night owl so this will be new for me)
Denise also touches on the importance, as a woman, of surrounding yourself with other women who will invest in your walk with God so that you can be there for each other during the hard times. I know first-hand how important that type of relationship is.
I highly recommend this book!!!
Many thanks to Denise Hughes, NetGalley, and Harvest House Publishers.
Deeper Waters: Immersed in the Life-Changing Truth of God’s Word, by Denise J. Hughes, offers personal insight and practical ideas that the reader can easily use to study the Bible more effectively and intentionally. Abounding with grace and encouragement, this book is well-written and very engaging. The helpful tips included in this book are extremely worthwhile for anyone who desires to make the most of the time they spend reading and studying the Bible. I appreciated how this book was organized into thematic sections. I also appreciated that the ideas presented in the book were applicable, helpful, and edifying, rather than being overwhelming or burdensome. I came to the end of the book with an understanding of several practical Bible study techniques that I can implement immediately. Deeper Waters is heart-felt and sincere. It is grounded in a love for the life-giving truth of God’s Word. It is thoughtful, insightful, practical, and uplifting. I plan to reread this book often, and recommend it to others whenever I have the opportunity. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions stated in the review, whether positive or negative, are entirely my own.
I absolutely loved this study! Deeper Waters by Denise J. Hughes is a wonderful testimony of a fellow believer's struggles of wrestling with her faith in the midst of tragedy, how sinking deep into the Word of God helped to guide her through to the other side, and is written in such a way that you feel like you are sharing a private conversation over coffee with a close friend. The author shares her personal method of searching and studying the Scriptures - by reading it, WRITING it, and then praying it - a method which I had never heard of but am now adding to my daily study and prayer life and noticing a deeper understanding and connection to the Word because of it. Ms. Hughes's love for God, for the Word, and for others pour from the pages of this wonderful book and I can't recommend it highly enough!
I have followed this author and done a Word Writer study of hers, but this book was something else! The writing is so good. I felt like we were sitting across from each other sipping tea. Her transparency in sharing personal experiences made you understand where she's been and admire where she comes from in her writings. Many of her suggestions for taking my study of the Word of God to a deeper and personal level, I look forward to starting soon. I highly recommend this book if you are seeking a more fulfilling relationship with God. I wanted to pass it to a friend, but I have so much underlining and notes in margins that I will need to purchase one to give my friend now!
FTC Disclaimer: I received this book for free from Harvest House Publishers for this review. I was not asked by the publisher nor the author for anything in return. I have given my honest review.
Denise's love for the Word of God seeps out of every line of Deeper Waters. The book is equal parts a honest story of her search for God through suffering and a practical help on how ordinary people can study God's extraordinary Word. If you are looking for a book on why and how to study the Bible, Deeper Waters is the perfect read. Instead of reading like a text book full of how-to's, it reads like a memoir of one who has questioned and found answers in Scripture and wants everyone who reads her words to share her love for the Bible. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is searching to learn more about what it means to dig deeper into Scripture as a daily habit. Denise, thank you for your gift to the Church.
Today (September 1st) thousands of people in Texas are literally surrounded by deep waters. Denise J. Hughes has written a book filled with insight for those walking through difficult times--losses, cancer, divorce, etc. When we face circumstances where we question if God is there or if He even cares, Denise shows us how to find the answers in God's Word. But this is not a book filled with cliches or platitudes. Denise has been in the trenches of grief and doubt and found a way through. We can discover who God really is only by going deeper into His Word and Denise shares specific ways we can study scripture with understanding. I received this book as an advance copy, but my review is completely honest. I loved this book.
A few weeks ago my plane was delayed on the tarmac of LAX for an extra two hours. The thing that turned this frustrating inconvenience into a blessing was that I had extra time to read this book. And today it launches into the world--and I know it will be a blessing to anyone who reads it.
Denise J. Hughes is a gifted Bible teacher who is passionate about the Word and bringing women together. Deeper Waters shares her personal experience of the life-changing truth of God's Word while equipping readers in very practical ways to learn how to read and study the Bible and pray.
If you've walked a hard road, if you've ever questioned God's goodness, if you feel intimated by the Bible or don't know where to start, Deeper Waters is for you.
Do you ever read a book and find yourself needing to absorb and re-absorb its instruction? Like everything is clicking; it resonates with your soul. Deeper Waters is that book. It is the book one needs to have, to mark up, and to refer back to as we spend our time leaning into the arms and word of God. I read this with sticky tabs and highlighter in hand because there is so much worth soaking in and sharing and I took so many notes! Notes for me, notes to share with friends, notes to follow in my own devotional and Bible reading time. Denise Hughes shares her own faith walk and guides all of us through the often murky waters of our own faith walks with beautiful words and practical, yet encouraging nudges for everyone seeking a closer relationship with Jesus.
Deeper Waters is such a raw beauty of a read. It shines vulnerability and truth that brings you through to a journey that is sure to change and impact your life in so many faithful ways. Denise dives right in and immerses you with helpful tools to help you not just read the word, but learn to hear God speak to you in his word. Transforming your perspective can change your way of living to fill you and your life with joy and peace. This book was a great read that I will use as a reference over and over again. I am so thankful I was given the opportunity to read the book pre-release, because it has opened my eyes and changed my approach to reading and delving into the word, making it a little less intimidating and a more enjoyable.
Loved this book! Denise J. Hughes beautifully shares her life's struggles and how being immersed in the Word of God helped her navigate them. She offers great insights on how to study the Word and how to have a vibrant prayer life. As a lover of God's Word, I found new elements to add to my daily prayer and Bible study time.
If I were to sum up the message of this book in one sentence, I would do it with a quote from the book itself..."When we're immersed in the grace and truth of God's Word, we find the path that leads us home." Truly God's Word is the only Book that can transform our lives, and Denise points to this truth over and over again.
