Madalyn Beck invites you to peer into yourself while delving into her latest collection of poetry. Her poems are a fantastical introspection, inviting you to remember who you were and telling you who you could yet be. Her beautifully lyrical prose glimpses beyond the harsh truth of everyday life and reminds us that the world isn’t just how we see it; it’s what we make it. Life is more than survival; it’s a human experience that often seems otherworldly until we step beyond the boundaries set by convention and realize that we are each greater than the sum of our trials.
May the words inside help you find your wings and give you the courage to fly.
I write poetry and prose, but my novels are where the hidden bits of my soul rest. The characters I create are flawed, yet diligent, and I believe that is the truest testament of all people. Delving into the darkest parts of my past and the truth of humanity, I enjoy telling tales of the truly terrible and seemingly insurmountable trials that threaten to bring every person to their knees.
Driven by my night terrors, I write to inspire and motivate others to fight the good fight, never give up, and never give in. I hope to invigorate those who feel as if the world is crumbling around them and there is nowhere to turn that there is always hope if there is faith.
Sometimes that belief is the only thing that allows us to make it out alive.
Madalyn's work is an inspiration. She is fantastic at sharing pieces of herself and making the reader nod along and feel bold. I never remember to highlight my favorite parts but I am sure every single page of this book has notes all over it!
"Sometimes you have to burn to see what you're made of, and find your worth in the ashes." Madalyn Beck is inspiring. Her words knock the wind out of me, and the way she is able to weave them into beautiful sentences and poems, shows off her amazing talent. This particular collection struck a nerve with my younger self. I felt like Beck was peeking into my life in some of her poems, and writing about what she saw. That's the talent that true poets posses though. They have this ability to write about their experiences, and somehow still make you feel as though they are writing about yours. I dog eared several pages and have re-read those passages over and over. I'm blown away by Beck's talent, and I wish I would have discovered her earlier.
The end of this book, may be my favorite. The final passage, is a short story entitled, "Hard to Love". It's a brief story about the struggle of losing yourself, when you're in the process of losing love. It wasn't long, but it warranted a lot of feelings from deep inside of me. I absolutely sympathasized with the main character and found myself hating the male role. In just a few short pages, Beck told a tale that had me so sucked in, I felt like I was reading a full length novel. I loved that about this short story.
Last but not least, Beck's writing style is something to talk about. It's brutally honest, deep, and captivating. Her words are arranged so well, that they literally tell and scream off the page. It's so freaking amazing when you stumble across a writer like that. Beck will be breaking barriers and knocking down walls for years to come, and I cannot wait to read more of her works. Id give this book five thousand dandelion fuzz stars.
Hello fellow word nerds! I figured since last week was so empty and sad this week could be full of fun and books! So I am super excited to finally write this review because this book was amazing! So, without further ado!

-Dragon Hearts & Dandelion Fuzz by Madalyn Beck
So poetry is still fairly new to me in the grand scheme of things, but it is definitely a genre I find myself obsessed with. I had been waiting to buy this book for a while because Madalyn said that she was going to be editing it and then re-releasing it. When that actually happened I had just been put on a book buying ban (ridiculous, I know!) but since I was impatient I decided to buy the ebook. I am glad that I stopped waiting.
Didn’t your mother ever tell you that you can’t cage a dragon? We will eat you alive.
There are not enough good words in the world to explain how much I loved this chapbook. The strength of Madalyn and her boldness can be found on every single page. Reading this collection left me feeling courageous and full of hope. I often forget to highlight the parts of books I love so I can use them later but I found myself wanting to highlight the entire book. This is a collection about not only not giving up, but about being better for the things you overcome. There is a strength in these pages that can be felt and held onto when you need it the most.
She's a masterpiece, and deserves the type of love that never keeps her heart from dancing.
I have never read anything by Madalyn Beck that wasn't exceptional and this collection is no different. I feel like I have probably repeated myself 1,000 times but I don't even care. I need you to understand the amount of love I have not only for this chapbook but for the amazing woman who wrote it. She is strong and bold and full of so many beautiful and empowering words. I appreciate how raw and open she is in her work and I love that it bleeds through into the words.
I give this book a million stars and I hope you do too! Let me know what you think if you get a chance to read it (and you definitely should)!
As beautiful to read as Poetic Embers, I could so easily relate to that moment when everything comes crashing down on you and you have to find the strength within yourself to keep going forward. I found Dragon Hearts & Dandelion Fuzz to be insightful, inspiring and a true representation of all the moments we've all been in, where the only person we can turn to is ourselves.
Madalyn's second book is just as wonderful as her first. She is great at creating both a duality of strength and vulnerability in each poem she writes. I can't wait to see what else she is working in.
I was expecting more based on the author's previous work but it reads like a paper one of my grade 7 students would turn in. Very hard to keep your attention. I sadly would not recommend it to a friend.
(1.5) stars. I was so excited to read this collection. I adore Madalyn's Instagram feed. However, sadly this collection was a disappointment. There were some poems that I adored, but the majority of them seemed juvenile and too simple.
