I'm writing this review mid-meal, because the soup is that darn good! Ladle: Paleo and Gluten-Free Comfort Soup Recipes is the perfect real food soup & stew recipe book, regardless if you follow the paleo diet or not.

My husband and I have numerous food sensitivities between the two of us, plus I'm celiac, so I'm always on the lookout for good cookbooks that are easily adaptable to our needs. This cookbook really does follow the paleo diet to a T – with only one recipe strongly suggesting the use of cream. Most other paleo cookbooks I have call for lots of full-fat dairy, so I was concerned this one would too – but it didn't! It also doesn't call for lots of specialty ingredients, chances are you really do have everything on hand for these recipes.

The recipes themselves are AMAZING! Tonight I made the Bacon Chicken Chowder – seriously, best soup ever. I had to sub extra parsnips for the carrots (I'm allergic, really) but other than that – even my husband agrees that this is the best soup I've ever made. The Cowboy Stew is another favorite of mine, I was apprehensive because of some of the ingredients – but it really blew us away. I've never been one to follow recipes exactly, but trust me – Michelle's recipes are perfectly balanced, even if you doubt her seasoning choices!

I seriously can't make broth fast enough to keep up with our cravings for these recipes. If there's one paleo soup cookbook you invest in this season, make it this one.
