Seemed interesting in the beginning, or so I thought. I can handle the insta-love factor, but frankly the details within the story just really bothered me. A number of things, really. The whole reality show similar to The Bachelor was somewhat believable at first, but as it played out it just felt silly reading about it. Especially with Dakota's POV and thoughts on it.

Dakota wasn't my favorite if I'm honest. I still don't understand her real reasoning behind marrying and then hiding Payton's daughter from him. I really don't. Even the weak excuse she uses at the end the book doesn't cut it to me. Everything felt like it was halfway done, like the real answers were there but needed more effort to be explained but the author never quite bothered to put in that kind of effort.

Details didn't make much sense to me either. Some things didn't add up. Dakota and Payton had sex their first night together. OKAY. There is the mention of a condom at some point, but as the sexual act progresses it begins to feel like others books I've read where no protection is used, if that makes any sense? Still. So before the whopping climax Dakota is telling him to "cum inside her" and "don't pull out" like he's unprotected. If he's wearing a condom, what's the purpose of that? He's gonna cum in you regardless...anyway. Somehow she gets pregnant, naturally.

Dakota has no idea she's pregnant for three whole months. I guess I can believe that. After she chooses the douche Danny on the show to be her new husband, we jump a few months later to him losing his shit and it's obvious Danny was clearly not who he pretended to be (not that shocking after the bedroom scene where he does an about-face) but still. So we're in Dakota's head from her POV and if I recall she tells him she doesn't want to marry him. He's insistent on it. Clearly. But in her thoughts she mentions how the contract they signed for the show clearly stated he was legally bound to propose, but neither were being forced to marry. Apparently it was a CHOICE. Which makes no absolute sense later when we find out she married him when we jump 3 years later! She mentions later to Payton that Danny took her to the courthouse and they signed papers and were married. Was this after he believed she was pregnant with his child even though they didn't have sex once, even though she let him believe they had from his drunk fumbling on their wedding night? Hello, there are too many holes here! Did he force her to marry him somehow? I find that hard to believe since he didn't have anything to hold or lord over her, and contract wise she wasn't being forced to do so. None of it made sense, especially when she knew it was Payton's child AND that Danny was crazy as fuck and gonna beat and control her already.

And Payton! Lord. He was a cute little thing and I think he had potential, I do, but ultimately he came across like a love sick puppy. I was hoping for a strong willed, alpha, "that's my woman!" type of persona from the book description but nope. Nothing like that. Almost it seemed in the beginning but he was so sappy. Sigh. If I had a lady boner for him at all it went limp as I continued reading.

Dakota was an idiot. Had dumb reasons for keeping Payton's daughter from him. Marrying douchey Danny. Acting like she didn't have a choice, because if she didn't the author didn't let on to that. Sure seemed like she made all these choices herself without any incentive.

And can I say that maybe this author is better at young adult or new adult book? I'm not familiar with her work, so I can't say. But when the book opens Payton is 30 and Dakota 27. We get a three year time jump later on so 30 and 33. But honestly? Payton read across more immature than a 30-33 yr old grown ass man who went into the Navy. He didn't have that "factor" for me. It was missing entirely. Felt like I was reading from a early twenties type of character most of the time.

And when Payton was out fighting the "war" I have to say it felt silly reading. It was just a plot device to give Payton a reason to not be around for a bit. I swear it was. I may be wrong but I'm not sure you can just randomly pick up and become a Navy SEAL at 30 yrs old out of the blue because you suddenly give no fucks anymore because of a shitty ex-girlfriend. And he literally had ONE MISSION. And after nearly dying he gets to go home. I know that happens in real life, but it came across as so underdeveloped and not informed at all. And then when he got stabbed the commander Mike told the other guy with them Savage to "Leave him he's not gonna make it" because shit was hitting the fan and they had to go. REALLY? Navy SEALS, to my knowledge, would never leave a man behind unless he was already dead and only if it was absolutely necessary! You know that whole "never leave a man behind" motto and all that. None of that read true to me and I thought it was really dumb, frankly.

Honestly, I'm surprised I finished the book but at least it's done and I won't wonder.

A short story of Dakota and Payton, They have a one night stand before going on to do important stuff. Dakota will be entering a reality show where she finds love with a group of guys and needs to choose one. Payton will be shipped off to war and he feels like he need to let loose before leaving. When they meet they don't expect to see each other or have a deep connection but they don't say anything, months later she chose a man from the show to love but he wasn't for her. She ended up having Paytons baby, when payton comes back he looks for her because he feels like they had more than just a one night stand. Soon these two are sneaking around seeing each other and and she will try to leave her abusive marriage. I liked the different route the story went but they were finally able to have their happy ending.

Very disappointed

I was very disappointed in this book. At some point the details in scenes that had no impact on the story had me skimming through the story. Then the scenes that needed more details were glossed over. A few things that really bothered me - unprotected sex with a stranger, he kept saying he was a Seal but wasn't, he kept telling people he was a hero. She seemed flighty and allowed herself to enter into an abusive marriage even though she didn't even love her husband and then cheated with the hero.

Filthy Seal A Secret Baby Navy Seal Romance
Kara Hart
3.5 stars

Man, I want to say I loved this book, but sadly, it was all to unrealistic for me. The blurb was fantastic, but the story itself farfetched. Think “The Bachelorette“ on steroids. I didn’t hate it, but with a bit of work I pushed to finish.

Dakota is looking for love, and with a new TV show in the making to find her perfect husband se in Maui, should be spectacular, but with a one night breakdown, she meets Payton Caldwell, all hot, muscular and sexy as sin. But though she knows she can’t touch him she gives in for a night of passion she never thought she would ever experience. Her life will never be the same after that one night...

Payton is on his last ditch getaway with mates before deploying the Afghanistan as a Navy Seal, on the last night he sees a stunning woman who wants nothing to do with him. Chasing after her in the surf, he discovers she is a main lead in a new reality TV show about to be filmed on location. One night with her will be his last Harare before fighting for his country. After leaving Maui, to join his new team, he is unaware that the woman he left behind is moving on with another man... and his baby.

After being injured in the line if duty, he returns to New York City to track down the one woman who still fills his dreams every night. Discovering Dakota is married to the man from the show, and has a young child he sets in motion getting her back. What he finds is she is not only not happy, but is being physically and emotionally abused. Angry, he takes on Danny ( the evil husband ) & everything else that is against him. Not the law or jail will stop him getting his girl. Dakota will be his even if he has to kill....
Don’t mess with a Seal, his woman and his daughter. Needless to say, not everything works out as Dakota and Payton hoped. Danny is disturbed, and no one will come between him and Dakota. This Navy Seal will fight a fight much greater than what he suffered in the line of duty. To have Dakota back in his life forever and the daughter he never knew existed in his home.

What the heck was that.. DNF! OK I'll admit for me secret babies are a hit or miss because to me? There are only a tiny FEW reasons you hide a child from a parent. TINY.. FEW... but this? Wth. Stupid. There was no good reason for me and to marry that guy? Why? Putting your baby in that when that isn't even her father? There was no reason to stay... not one. I'll be truthful this pushed buttons for me but there wasn't any warning. The back of the book sounded so good but once you start to read it it's almost like another book! So for me a HUGE DNF! If others like it then I'm happy they do but for me this is a no no...

Filthy Seal is another amazing book by Kara Hart.
A hot one-night stand is followed of years of chaotic emotions and a stony path in the lives of both protagonists. Dakota lives in an abusive marriage, Payton looks for years after the love of his life after returning from a SEAL mission before one day they meet again. From this encounter develops a heartbreaking love story with numerous twists and turns. A really readable book.

Payton and Dakota had one explosive night of passion before Payton left to become a Navy Seal. Dakota starred on the show Wedded. After three years, Payton still couldn't forget Dakota so he decided to track her down. When they are finally reunited, he discovers Dakota has changed. She's in an abusive relationship and Payton is determined to save her. But Dakota has a secret. How will Payton react when he finds out the truth? Will they find their way back to each other or will it tear them apart forever? Read the book and find out how this story turns out.

I got this book for free through a raffle. The story-line is okay, a little unbelievable, but okay and the writing/grammar was pretty good as well. I just thought the h was annoying. I didn't understand her thought process and helplessness. Legally there was way more she could do to protect herself in this situation. I think the author should have researched safe harbor laws for abused women and children before writing this novel.

No good flow

There really was no great flow to the story and no clear character development. I really like the story when I feel like I'm reading about real people that I might know in real situations. Unless of course I'm reading a fantasy or something other than a contemporary Romance. This could have been a good story. The story line outline was reasonable. The characters were not all that likeable.

Kara Hart has done it again. She's taken what could have been somewhat of a ho-hum story of a horny Navy SEAL about to deploy who wants to have a hot, steamy one night stand before he leaves for his tour.
Guy finds girl; sex is over-the-top hot; SEAL leaves next day. Oh by the way...the chick gets pregnant.

Sound familiar? Don't you believe it! This story is NOTHING like some of the other stories out there. As Ms Hart weaves her magic around us, we are drawn into the fully developed storyline--and the characters make us feel the full range of emotions as their story unfolds. These people become real to us. We feel their pain, their anger, and their fear.

As you read, you become fully engaged with both characters. We are in the room with them; their love is ours to witness and share.

Please read this book! The depth and breadth of emotion is astounding. You want to know more about Payton, Dakota, and baby Angela. You want to share their HEA.This book is definitely a 5-star read!!

When one heart finds its mate, love is seeded, puts down roots, sends up a delicate plant that grows into a sturdy tree that withstands drought and the storms of wind, rain and fire. That's the story of Peyton & Dalton. They met one night by chance. In a couple of days, Navy Seal Peyton was shipping out to Afghanistan to serve his country. At the same time, Dalton was contracted to begin an appearance on a television show that would change the direction of her life. In their loneliness and anxiety as to what consequences awaited them, they stumbled into each other on a drunken night on the beach. There they experienced an incredible coupling that planted the precious seeds of love. For three years, the love grew and survived the drought. The reader then witnesses the onslaught of the storms of wind, rain and fire that buffets the "tree". It is an enthralling, mind-consuming, heart-wrenching reading adventure into the resilience of Love. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Five Stars!

Payton is a Navy Seal, he has to ship of to war and Dakota is the next star of the reality TV series Wedded to meet her future husband. Their lives will take them apart from eachother and who knows if they will ever meet again. Three years later... Dakota has been keeping a secret from Payton and her husband Danny...Payton has been searching for Dakota to make sure she is happy and he just wants to see her. When he finally finds her, she is not the same woman he fell in love with, but that won't stop this hero from loving her or winning her love. Can Payton get his Dakota back ? Will Dakota leave her husband for the man of her dreams ? Or will the secrets tear their love apart ? I suggest you give Kara Hart's Filthy Seal a go, it has great love scenes!! Happy Reading!!

This is a suspenseful and intriguing book to read and I really enjoyed reading it. What you will find in this book is: drama, intrigue, suspense, action, a one night stand, a show, a proposal, a controlling abusive husband (Danny), a abused wife (Dakota), her baby daughter (Angela), a bad boy navy seal (Payton), attempted escape, police, arrested, a child held hostage, a knife fight, help from a friend, suicide, meeting parents, welcomed, a picnic, a note, love, emotional feelings, and erotic scenes. I found the story-line to be well thought out and written. The characters have emotional feelings according to the situation they find themselves in. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy reading a good secret baby navy seal romance with a HEA.

One night stand will lead into true love.

Dakota is a reality actress on the set of her new show, Wedded, it's like bachelor(ett) type show. Well she she's a guy at the bar and he buys her a drink and she runs off.

Peyton is determined to have the best night before he ships out to war and Dakota is in his sights. One night together will result in months and years thinking about each other.

When Peyton nails down the location where Dakota is he will be there to see if she is happy with her reality show husband or will she be miserable and need rescuing to be in his protective arms...

Told in both p.o.v. no rushing or skipping around, HEA.

Payton and Dakota meet when Payton is shipping out with the SEALs and Dakota is starting a new show. He doesn't recognize her, but he knows he wants her badly. She resists at first. When they come together, it is sweet, but quite quick. In one night, they fall madly in love, but she is under contract and in many ways, so is he. He writes her and thinks of her constantly, but she never responds. When he is discharged, he decides to seek her out. She is married and has a baby by now. Things are quite complicated and not all as they appear. This is intense and fast, but it was still quite good. I enjoyed them even if it was a little unrealistic to me. That's okay, though, I love my fiction love stories!

Payton wants to enjoy his last days before he has to deploy and him & his friends head to Maui. Dakota is an actress who makes a bad decision by going on a reality show and happens to be in Maui. Wanting to get away she runs into Payton and she asks for his help. They can't help the connection they have and spend the night together. The next day Payton leaves and regrets not saying goodbye to Dakota. He writes her everyday but she never gets the letters and is shocked to learn she is pregnant. Dakota is in a marriage she wishes more then anything to get out of, will her Navy Seal come and rescue her and their daughter?

I so enjoyed this book! Which I love anything by Kara Hart anyway. However this book was a hot lust filled love story. I was drawn into their world .Payton was a Hot blooded man who has enrolled to be a seal and the night before he shipped out he met Dakota. Cocky as heck and sexy as hell he wraps her in his lustful body.
Years later he knows he must find her, little did he know she needed him in more than one way. He would soon find something that would flip his world upside down…..
I love these characters they are well formed , you feel like you are right there going through everything they do. If I could give ten stars I would! Huge Five stars!!! What a great book!

Filthy seal Kara Hart

Payton is on holiday with his friends in Maui before he takes three months to war in Afghanistan. There he meets the beautiful Dakota as he spends a great hot night with. Dakota is attending a uyality show called wedded where she is to marry one of the participants. When Payton returns home, he thought about dakota constant and decides to find her. But much has happened since the amazing night. It's a great story that caught me from the start. I felt for Dakota who can go so very gruesome through. Payton is a great man so I hoped for the best. It's certainly a book that is worth reading good and exciting.

Filthy Seal

Wow, two people meet on a night that one is just looking for a good time, the other, to get away from all the drama! What they find in each other is love, not that they realize it immediately, but they communicate, the chemistry, physical attraction between Payton and Dakota is just what true Love is made of! Everlasting Love! But both of them have made committements so the next day, they each go their own ways, to prior lives. Years later they meet ago, lives still intertwined, can Dakota be saved, now that Payton found her? This is an amazing story, contains emotional, physical, verbal abuse, but a great, great story!

This story has some major issues, although it could be great. There are unrealistic story lines (he enlists in the SEALs, goes to boot camp, then off to war). The timelines are all off, the story is choppy, the "Prologue" really throws you off, and it would be better without it. This book needs some serious editing.

Theres two other books in the Kindle download I have, and they both have the same issues. NFL doesn't play games back to back like that. There's also a part that says "24 months later", but as you read the rest of the story you'll find that ridiculous.

This author really needs a proofreader.

Not surprised that I loved this book since I love all Kara Hart's books. What do you get with you take a hot bad boy navy seal, a beautiful woman, one hot night together, a reality show resulting in a marriage, and throw in a baby? Tons of drama, action, suspense and hot sex that's what..... Filthy Seal is a winner! Loved the story line and the characters. Peyton and Dakota sizzle..... Whether or not it's a hot mafia or military romance, this author knows how to keep her readers interested. One click now! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

This is the story of Payton a man who is a Navy SEAL. On his last last night before deployment.he meets Dakota a reality TV star. They end up having a wild night of sex. Both of them have made commitments. He to the Navy and her to a production co. to find a husband. What happens when lies keep them apart? Will they be able to overcome the obstacles? Will love prevail. Grab this book to find out. The answers are sweet and poignant.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review and this is honestly mine!!!
